Pregnant Claudia Schiffer poses nude for mag

New York, May 11 (ANI): Soon-to-be mum Claudia Schiffer is showing off her baby bump to the world – she posed nude for a fashion mag.

Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld shot Schiffer, 39, for the June cover of Vogue Germany.

Schiffer”s pose bears striking resemblance to Demi Moore”s infamous 1991 Vanity Fair cover in which the actress posed nude at seven-months pregnant.

Schiffer is expecting a baby girl with hubby, filmmaker Matthew Vaughn, in May.

The couple are already parents to seven-year-old Caspar, and five-year-old Clementine.

Schiffer admits that her roles as a wife and mum have helped her change her once workaholic lifestyle.

“I used to work every single day and travel round the world. I worked weekends, I never took one second off,” the New York Daily News quoted her as telling the Daily Mail.

Schiffer added: “When I met my husband I said, ”You know what, this is important. I”m not going to work weekends any more.” And when I had kids, I became even more careful. Modeling work is fine because you can do one day here, two days there – you”re never long gone.”

She added: “I love being pregnant.

“You can do whatever you want. You don”t feel guilty, because I used to feel guilty about having a day off.

“And, you know, something really strange happened to me. Before my pregnancies, I was someone who had to watch their weight. I had a personal trainer, I was working out, I would never eat anything sweet,” she continued. “Anyway, I got pregnant and when I was breastfeeding it just came off. I can eat whatever I want. If I don”t eat enough, I will lose weight.” (ANI)

“I think I”m actually the worst person in the class,” the Telegraph quoted her as telling Vanity Fair magazine. (ANI)

Rats catching on as ‘responsible’ source of real animal fur!

New York, April 29 (ANI): The nutria – a giant, semi-aquatic rat – is said to be coming back into fashion as a ‘responsible’ way to wear real fur.

Vanity Fair reports that the rodents are a scourge in the southern U.S., which means it wouldn’t bother animal lovers if a few went missing and end up as a coat or hat.

In the 1930s, the two-foot-long, 10-to-20-pound rats, native to South America, were brought to New Orleans as part of the fur trade and their long, silky brown fur reached its style peak in the 70s.

Ever since the fur backlash, though, the pesky rodent population in Louisiana has been growing again—and could doom thousands of acres of coastal wetlands.

However, fashionistas are jumping at the chance to work with nutria.

Menswear designer Billy Reid sent the rat down his fall 2010 runway on hats, collars and cuffs, and Oscar de la Renta and J. Mendel have also used nutria in recent collections.

“I’ve seen [nutria] affect the area I live in. I really haven’t had a lot of experience working with fur, and this was a chance to do it that just felt right,” the New York Daily News quoted Reid, who is based in Alabama, as telling VF.

“I love the masculinity of it. It’s sort of the bad-ass fur,” he added. (ANI)

Jordan, Barkley made Woods ‘a self-indulgent, sex-crazed narcissist’

New York, Apr 1 (ANI): NBA stars Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley made Tiger Woods a self-indulgent, sex-crazed narcissist, one of the golfer”s former advisers claims in a story written for the May edition of Vanity Fair.

“I told him, ”Stay away from that son of a bitch [Jordan], because he doesn”t have anything to offer to the f- – -ing world in which he lives except playing basketball, which he did yesterday,” ” The New York Post quoted lawyer John Merchant as telling the latest edition of Vanity Fair magazine.

Tiger’s alleged mistress and Las Vegas nightclub hostess Jamie Jungers added, “One of the times [Woods] arrived in town, he texted me, ”I”m gambling with Charles Barkley. Text me when you”re here, and I”ll tell the gate you”re coming.”

“As soon as I got to [the private VIP casino''s] gate, I said, ”I”m with Tiger,” and they walked me to their table. Charles was playing roulette, and Tiger was playing blackjack. I would say probably 25,000 dollars and above.”

Amanda Seyfried determined not to become tabloid persona

London, Mar 26 (ANI): ‘Mamma Mia!’ star Amanda Seyfried has revealed that she would like to become very famous but still manage to keep herself from becoming a tabloid persona.

Seyfried, 24, says that she does not want her life to be an open book the way actress Angelina Jolie’s life is.

“I don’t want to become a brand and I certainly don’t want to have a persona,” the Daily Star quoted her as telling Vanity Fair.

“I don’t want to be in magazines everyday, because I don’t want people to get to know one thing.

“I feel like Angelina Jolie can still play a character and you can still get lost in it. Even though she’s all over the place, and that’s unfortunate for her.

“But luckily she still maintains enough anonymity for us to believe her,” she added. (ANI)

The Harry Potter actress, who began dating financier Jay Barrymore in 2008, was said to have put an end to the romance just months after moving to the US to pursue a university degree.

The “She Wolf” has donned couture from Dior, Chanel and Gaultier for the mag.

Fox News quoted Vanity Fair writer Bruce Handy as saying: “It’s probably her sexiest video to date and also, though I’m not sure this was the intent, her most charmingly corny.

Palin can’t fish, cook or shoot a gun, says daughter’s ex-boyfriend

Washington, Sep.3 (ANI): Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s presidential hopes have received a further hit with her daughter’s ex-boyfriend Levi Johnston claiming she can’t even shoot a gun.

Johnston, the teenager who Mrs Palin embraced as part of her family last year when it emerged during the presidential campaign that he had impregnated her 17-year-old daughter, turned against the family in an interview with Vanity Fair, painting the former governor as a selfish woman who took little interest in her children.

He claimed that Palin was incapable of handling a gun kept in the family home in Wasilla.

“She says she goes hunting and lives off animal meat – I’ve never seen it. I’ve never seen her touch a fishing pole. She had a gun in her bedroom and one day she asked me to show her how to shoot it.

I asked her what kind of gun it was, and she said she didn’t know, because it was in a box under her bed,” The Telegraph quoted Johnston, as saying.

Johnston also claimed that Palin was an absentee mother.

“The Palins didn’t have dinner together and they didn’t talk much as a family,” he told Vanity Fair, adding that the mother of five never came home later than five and would often disappear for an hour-long bath.

“She always wanted things and she wanted other people to get them for her. If she wanted a movie, Bristol and I would go to the video store. If she wanted food, we’d get her something to eat, like a Crunchwrap Supreme from Taco Bell.”

Palin rarely attended her son Track’s hockey games, claimed Johnston.

Johnston fell out with the family after the birth of his child with Bristol, the eldest daughter.

He even claimed that Sarah Palin often spoke of adopting the baby and passing it off as her own.

Palin, however, has opted not to react and kept her counsel. (ANI)

Palin e-mails show infighting with staff

Washington, July 2 (ANI): The tension between Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and top McCain campaign aides in the closing days of presidential campaign is elucidated in a profile in the new issue of Vanity Fair.

Internal campaign e-mails exchanged three weeks before Election Day, offer a rare look at just how frustrated the then Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin had become with the manner in which top McCain campaign aides were handling her candidacy.

The e-mails, obtained exclusively, also highlight the power struggle and thinly veiled acrimony that pervaded the relationship between Palin and the campaign’s chief strategist, Steve Schmidt.

CBS News’ Scott Conroy and special contributor Shushannah Walshe, who are writing a book about Palin, reveal how the mutual frustrations went even further than what has been disclosed so far.

The episode in question began when an investigative report published on the left-leaning Web site Salon.com raised questions about Palin’s relationship with members of the Alaska Independence Party (AIP) when she was mayor of Wasilla.

The AIP’s platform calls for a vote giving Alaskans the option to secede from the United States. It had already been widely known that Todd Palin was a registered member of the AIP from 1995 to 2002 and that Governor Palin had taped a recorded greeting at the party’s 2008 convention.

On the morning of October 15, Palin was aboard her campaign jet and en route to New Hampshire when she happened to catch a disparaging CNN segment that touted the Salon.com story, complete with a provocative graphic at the bottom of the screen reading, “The Palins And The Fringe”.

While shaking hands after a rally later that afternoon, someone on the rope line shouted a remark at Palin about the AIP, CBS News reported.

The comment set her off. She worried that the campaign was not sufficiently mitigating the issue of her alleged connection to the party, which despite a platform that harkens more to the Civil War than the 21st century, continued to play a serious role in Alaska politics.

Palin blasted out an e-mail with the subject line “Todd” to Schmidt, campaign manager Rick Davis and senior advisor Nicolle Wallace, copying her husband on the message.

Schmidt hit “reply to all” less than five minutes after Palin’s e-mail was sent. “Ignore it,” he wrote. “He was a member of the AIP? My understanding is yes. That is part of their platform. Do not engage the protestors. If a reporter asks say it is ridiculous. Todd loves America.” (ANI)

Ledger’s split from Michelle Williams ‘made him snap’, says Terry Gilliam

Melbourne, July 1 (ANI): Heath Ledger’s split from Michelle Williams and legal dispute over his daughter Matilda contributed to his unstable and sleepless state in the weeks before he died of an accidental prescription-drug overdose, according to the actor’s pal and mentor Terry Gilliam.

Gilliam was directing Ledger in ‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’.

The filmmaker told Vanity Fair that the wrangles over financial settlement and custody of his daughter “really made Heath snap.”

“He really thought he could do the right thing. He was trying to be decent and graceful, give her (Williams) whatever she wanted – the house, every f**king thing. But once it started going south, it went very quickly. He was overwhelmed by lawyers, and there were more and more of them, as if they were breeding,” the Australian quoted Gilliam as saying.

Gilliam said that the ordeal drove Ledger to work harder, to distract himself from his personal worries.

‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’ cinematographer Nicola Pecorini said that Ledger was a regular pot smoker.

However, when it became a problem he “went clean as a whistle,” Pecorini told Vanity. He also stopped drinking.

The Oscar-winning actor’s voice coach Gerry Grennell told the magazine: “Heath would happily go to the bar, buy a round of drinks for friends, and come back and have a soda or juice, never once drinking alcohol.”

“Everyone has a different view of how he passed away. From my perspective, and knowing him as well as I did, and being around him as much as I was, it was a combination of exhaustion, sleeping medication … and perhaps the after effects of the flu. I guess his body just stopped breathing,” Grennell added. (ANI)

Vanity Fair critique on Palin sparks off GOP feud

Washington, July 1 (ANI): The hard-hitting Vanity Fair piece on Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has touched off a blistering exchange of insults among high-profile Republicans, tearing open fresh wounds about leaks surrounding Palin.

Rival factions close to the McCain campaign have been feuding since last fall over Palin, usually waging the battle in the shadows with anonymous quotes.

Now, however, some of the most well known names in Republican politics are going on-the-record with personal attacks and blame casting.

William Kristol, the editor of The Weekly Standard and at times an informal adviser to Sen. John McCain, touched off the latest back-and-forth Tuesday morning with a post on his magazine’s blog criticizing the Todd Purdum-authored Palin story and pointing a finger at Steve Schmidt, McCain’s campaign manager.

Kristol cited a passage in Purdum’s piece in which “some top aides” were said to worry about the Alaska governor’s “mental state” and the prospect that the Alaska governor may be suffering from post-partum depression following the birth of her son Trig.

“In fact, one aide who raised this possibility in the course of trashing Palin’s mental state to others in the McCain-Palin campaign was Steve Schmidt,” Kristol wrote.

Asked about the accusation, Schmidt fired back in an email: “I’m sure John McCain would be president today if only Bill Kristol had been in charge of the campaign.”

“After all, his management of [former Vice President] Dan Quayle’s public image as his chief of staff is still something that takes your breath away,” Schmidt continued.

“His attack on me is categorically false.”

Asked directly in a telephone interview if he brought up the prospect of Palin suffering from post-partum depression, Schmidt said: “His allegation that I was defaming Palin by alleging post-partum depression at the campaign headquarters is categorically untrue. In fact, I think it rises to the level of a slander because it’s about the worst thing you can say about somebody who does what I do for a living.”

Randy Scheunemann, a longtime foreign policy adviser to McCain who is also close to the Standard editor and was thought to be a Palin ally within the campaign, seconded Kristol’s charge.Steve Schmidt has a congenital aversion to the truth,” Scheunemann said.

“On two separate and distinct occasions, he speculated about about Governor Palin having post-partum depression, and on the second he threatened that if more negative publicity about the handling of Governor Palin emerged that he would leak his speculation [about post-partum depression] to the press. It was like meeting Tony Soprano.”

Schmidt said Scheunemann’s charges were “categorically untrue.”

Scheunemann said Schmidt did try to fire him but added: “I’ve got a paystub through November 15th.”

The vitriol also suggests the degree to which Palin remains a Rorschach test not simply to Republicans nationally but within a tight circle of elite operatives and commentators, many of whom seem ready to carry their arguments in 2012.

Schmidt, who has returned to his California-based political and public affairs consulting business, said that he “worked incredibly hard during the campaign to defend Sarah Palin and her family against a lot of attacks that I thought then and think today were very unfair.”

Responding to Schmidt’s counter-attack, Kristol directly fingered Schmidt: “It’s simply a fact that when the going got tough, Steve Schmidt trashed Sarah Palin, both within the campaign and (on background) to journalists. This was after Steve took credit for the Palin pick when, at first, he thought it made him look good. John McCain deserved better.”

The nasty back-and-forth between the two well-known Republicans and re-litigating of internal backbiting underscores the degree to which the internecine and very personal battle over last fall’s ticket between those seen as Palin allies and Palin detractors still rages on nearly six months into President Obama’s term. Palin described as Alaska’s lipstick wearing pit-bull and a `Little Shop of Horrors’

Washington, June 30 (ANI): A longtime friend and campaign trail companion of John McCain, the vanquished 2008 GOP presidential nominee, has described his vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin as Alaska’s lipstick-wearing pit-bull and as a “Little Shop of Horrors.”

This comment appears in the August edition of Vanity Fair, reports the New York Daily News.

Several senior members of McCain’s campaign team contacted by Vanity Fair said they worked their tails off to try to elect as vice president of the United States someone who, by mid-October, they believed for certain was nowhere near ready for the job, and might never be.”

During the campaign, there were reports of anonymous McCain aides describing Palin, the governor of Alaska, as a “diva” and a “whack job.”

The Vanity Fair article recounts how strained Palin’s relationship was with McCain advisers.

She, on the other hand, maintained “only the barest level of civil discourse” with Tucker Eskew, the operative assigned to be her chief minder, the magazine reports.

She believed Steve Schmidt, McCain’s top strategist, had lied to her about conducting polling in Alaska – that was a “belief she conveyed to anyone who would listen,” the magazine reported.

According to the magazine, Palin was so intent on delivering her own concession speech on Election Night that she wouldn’t accept advisers telling her that McCain had decided he would be the only one to speak.

She took the issue up with McCain himself, discussing it on the walk from his hotel suite to the farewell rally. Palin did not speak on Election Night. Only McCain addressed the crowd and the nation.

Palin has refused to comment for Vanity Fair. (ANI)

Miranda Kerr bares it all for Pirelli calendar photo-shoot

Melbourne, June 21 (ANI): After appearing nude for a campaign addressing plight of koalas recently, Miranda Kerr has stripped once again – this time for photographs of next year’s Pirelli Calendar.

The pictures, which were shot in Brazil, have become a sensation on the Internet in no time, News.com.au reported.

The snaps on the web are lifted from the latest edition of Italian Vanity Fair magazine, the Sunday Telegraph reports.

Australian models Abbey Lee Kershaw and Catherine McNeil are also in the frame.

The photographer is American Terry Richardson, who is famous for overtly sexual work.

Kathy Ward, of Chic Management – the trio’s Australian agency, said: “It’s interesting that the photos have come out.

“Usually there’s such tight security surrounding Pirelli that no images are revealed before the launch of the calendar.”

The Pirelli Calendar is a high-class affair, and is given to limited number of customers, clients and celebrities as a corporate gift. (ANI)

Annie Leibovitz may face bankruptcy petition

New York, May 25 (ANI): Acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz might be earning a lot of money from Vanity Fair and corporate work, but she is still being threatened with involuntary bankruptcy after not settling an overdue debt with a lighting company.

Leibovitz was sued by B2Pro Lighting company, which claimed she owed the company 392,036 dollars for rental services, damaged equipment and failure to deliver enough business to justify the discount rates she was receiving.

According to a source, though a judge dismissed a portion of the suit last month, the company still claims to be owed 189,170 dollars.

B2Pro lawyer Scott Markovitz revealed that the company is considering filing an involuntary bankruptcy petition against Leibovitz, if she fails to clear the overdue payment.

“We haven’t filed anything yet, but we are doing our due diligence. We’re in touch with Annie’s people and they are cooperating, so hopefully it won’t come to that,” the New York Post quoted Markovitz, as saying. (ANI)

Oprah Winfrey apologizes for slamming author James Frey

New Delhi, May 14 (ANI): Media mogul Oprah Winfrey has apologized to author James Frey for slamming him on her famous chat show.

Winfrey claimed on her show that Frey had fabricated parts of his memoir titled ‘A Million Little Pieces’.

However, she has now apologized to the author, reports the China Daily.

Winfrey’s apology was first reported on the Web site of Vanity Fair, with the author saying that he felt “grateful” for Winfrey’s gesture.

Winfrey and Frey share an age-old relationship, as Winfrey had been one of Frey’s most vocal boosters, naming his 2003 drugs-and-alcohol memoir ‘A Million Little Pieces’ one of her “book club” choices in 2005 and propelling it to bestseller status.

However, the next year, when the book was revealed, it emerged that Frey had invented some details in the supposedly non-fiction memoir and written that he once spent three months behind bars when in reality it was a few hours.

Thus, Winfrey lashed out at him when he appeared on her show.

“It is difficult for me to talk to you, because I really feel duped,” Winfrey said earlier.

However, Winfrey and Frey appear to have reconciled.

Frey revealed that Winfrey called him last fall to tell him “I felt I owe you an apology,” and she explained that her lambasting of him sprang from her sense of feeling betrayed, according to the Vanity Fair report.

“It was a nice surprise to hear from her, and I really appreciated the call and the sentiment,” Frey told Vanity Fair.

Winfrey’s spokeswoman Angela DePaul, confirmed that the chat show host had called Frey up to apologize. (ANI)
