Susan “Shrieking” Boyle given sedatives on Tokyo flight

London, April 24(ANI): Singer Susan Boyle had to be given sedatives while on a flight to Tokyo, as she kept “shrieking” which disturbed her fellow passengers, it has emerged.

The ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ star was onboard Upper Class section of a Virgin flight.

Apparently, the 49-year-old celebrity’s minders gave her pills to help her sleep but the medicine’s effect wouldn’t last for too long.

She allegedly walked up and down the aisle, shouting.

“The sedatives kept wearing off. It was lucky she was in the relatively small upstairs cabin, otherwise she would have disturbed the whole aircraft,” the Daily Star quoted a doctor on the flight, as saying.

A passenger on the flight said Boyle was “unbearable” and even her team of 10 minders could not keep her under control.

The onlooker said: “She was shrieking at the top of her voice and disturbing the other passengers.

“At one moment she was highly animated, then she would be in a drowsy state and helped back to her seat.

“Some of us were worried that she might do something silly because we were just outside the cockpit door.” (ANI)

Wodonga blaze not suspicious

Police say an electrical fault may have caused a fire that gutted a Wodonga business on Monday night.

An arson chemist examined the discount clothing shop on High Street yesterday to investigate whether the blaze was deliberately lit.

Detective Senior Constable Justin Schutz says the investigation found the cause of the fire is not suspicious.

He says the fire appears to have started in the upstairs living area.

“The forensic chemist attended yesterday evening and he examined the scene,” he said.

“His examination revealed that it’s a non-suspicious fire and the point of origin is believed to be the upstairs living area in the vicinity of an entertainment unit.”

Police arrest man for allegedly spying on girls, leaving blood trail

Northern Territory police have arrested a teenager after receiving two reports a man was spying on young girls in their homes in the Palmerston suburb of Driver.

Police say a woman was asleep on her lounge at her McGuinness Circuit home about 9:15pm, when she heard her daughter’s bedroom window being smashed.

Duty Superintendent Bob Harrison said the woman ran in to her daughter’s bedroom and found a 17-year-old male sitting on the edge of her daughter’s bed.

He escaped out the window leaving a trail of blood.

Police said officers flooded the area speaking with local residents, and patrolling the neighbourhood.

A short time later, another family in the same street told police their 9-year-old daughter saw a man on their upstairs verandah, watching her through the window while she was having a shower.

A man in similar clothes with blood on him was caught by police about an hour later, after he stole several bottles of alcohol from a bar.

Police said the youth is expected to be charged with aggravated unlawful entry, trespass, stealing and criminal damage.

Businesswoman rejects blame for convent loss

A Bordertown businesswoman who once owned the Naracoorte convent has accused the local community of not doing enough to save the historic building from demolition.

Baker owner Wendy Davis had plans to convert La Eurana House into shop premises with upstairs offices and a gallery, but she says ongoing delays in the council approval process forced her to abandon her plans and sell it to the developers who ultimately brought about its demise.

Ms Davis says the building had been on the market for a long time and she is not prepared to take flak over its removal.

“It’s so amusing isn’t it, hindsight, and that house was hidden there behind those beautiful trees for so long and now it’s gone and people always look for someone to blame other than themselves,” Ms Davis said.

“If the people of Naracoorte cared so much, shouldn’t they have noticed it long before the tractors moved in?”

Troubled Kerry Katona threatens to ‘slash wrists’

London, August 29 (ANI): Kerry Katona recently threatened to slash her wrists after an emotional meltdown, according to reports.

The former Atomic Kitten was said to have broken down, waking her children, before screaming: “I’m going to kill myself.”

The report comes after the 28-year-old was carpeted by cops after a video of her snorting cocaine through a rolled 20-pound note emerged, reports The Sun.

The mum-of-four also purportedly spent eight hours in jail for allegedly kicking down her accountant’s door and then hurling tea over him.

Kerry later returned to her Cheshire house, where she sobbed uncontrollably in the presence of husband Mark Croft, waking her kids upstairs.

A close friend said: “She was screaming: ‘I’m going to slash my wrists’.”

A source added: “Kerry is at her lowest point ever.” (ANI)

Jackson wanted to quit music, says pal

London, July 06 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s close friend and film-maker Bryan Michael Stoller has said that the singer had lost his love for music and wanted to quit in the months leading up to his death.

“It was almost as if he’d lost his love for music,” the Mirror quoted him as saying.

He also insisted that the iconic singer wished to make films instead of music.

He said: “He was so frail and exhausted. He wanted to move into film-making and told me it was much more important to him than his music.”

In fact, the helmer was teaching Michael the nuances of directing a film.

He mentioned that the ‘Thriller’ singer was in poor health when he met him for the last time at his Holmby Hills home.

He added: “It was like hugging a bag of bones. He looked like he wasn’t taking very good care of himself at all.

“He tried to be upbeat about the tour but you could see that he was down and depressed. I have never seen him so bad.”

According to Stoller, the legend loved his children and was fascinated with cartoon shows and movies like a kid.

He said: “He was a great father. The kids were always being schooled in a classroom upstairs.

“He was obsessed with helicopter rides and squealed like a big kid. He loved orange soda and had a bit of soup, but that’s all.”

However, he agreed: ” He was very sad and lonely.” (ANI)

Meet the ‘spidercat’ that climbs walls!

London, May 19 (ANI): A ginger and white cat has been nicknamed ‘Spidercat’ because of its unique ability to scale the walls of his master’s home in Denny, near Falkirk, Scotland, to sneak indoors via the upstairs balcony door.

What’s more, the super cat can hold onto the entire pebbledash surface of the walls while making his vertical ascent.

Owner Hannah Smith said she discovered her pet’s talent when she let him out of the front door downstairs, only for him to reappear indoors moments later.

“Charlie miaows at the front door to be let out. So we let him out but no sooner is he let out than he wants back in,” the Telegraph quoted Smith as saying.

“But if no one hears him at the front door, he wanders round to the back of the buildings to find the balcony. He then climbs up to the balcony to get back in.

“So Charlie really goes out the front door and in the back door.

“I got him as a wee kitten and out of the litter Charlie was the one that looked most mischievous and I liked that about him. He’s certainly lived up to his reputation.

“I think it is totally incredible how Charlie is able to climb up a roughcast wall. I’ve seen cats climb trees but I’ve never seen a cat climb a wall. It’s amazing,” she added. (ANI)

Phelps should get Olympic gold for marathon love-making, says lapdancer!

London, May 10 (ANI): Michael Phelps has had his fantasies with a pair of strippers, boasted about taking dope and cries a lot after getting drunk – these are some of his secrets spilt by a lapdancer.

Theresa White claimed the Olympic swimming star is far from the all-American boy everyone thinks he is.

The 25-year-old, who first met the champ at a strip club on a drunken night out last November, revealed the gold medallist turned into a cry baby after his controversial marijuana pictures surfaced.

“I saw Michael after the photos were published in February and he got really upset. He turned to me and said, ‘I can’t believe that happened. I’m terrified my career will be over.’ He was almost in tears,” News of the World quoted her as saying.

Theresa further claimed that the star, who was put on a three-month ban following the scandal, indulged in marathon love-making with two beauties at the same time, and even bragged about his dope-smoking exploits.

She said: “He said he liked short girls and I thought that was funny because he’s so tall. At his place we started playing drinking games.

“Two hours later I was pretty drunk and I went up to Michael and said, ‘If you were to have a threesome tonight, who would you like it to be with?’ He told me he’d never had one before but said it would be with me and then pointed at another girl.

“Everybody else stayed put while we went upstairs and jumped into bed. The sex lasted for about three hours. Michael should get another Olympic gold for marathon love-making!”

She continued: “When I ran into another girl called Jen at a party it turned out he was sleeping with both of us. And I’ve heard that there are at least five or six girls he can call on any time to come over and be with him.

“Michael’s not the all-American boy the public thinks he is. I never saw him smoke marijuana but he was into booze-and chewing tobacco. When he’s been drinking that’s usually when he starts crying. He cries a lot.

“And he chews tobacco like a sailor. It’s disgusting. All over his house are plastic bottles that he spits it into.”

The stunner further said the ace swimmer is a complete mummy’s boy and would not go against her to have a future with Theresa. (ANI)

Is Mischa Barton back with Luke Pritchard?

London, May 8 (ANI): Hollywood actress Mischa Barton has sparked rumours that she is back with her former beau Luke Pritchard, after the former duo was spotted together in London.

Mischa, who dated Luke until March, was spotted partying with the Kooks frontman in London, fuelling speculation of a romance.

“The Kooks had played a low-key gig to help launch The Flowerpot, a new venue… and the boys were enjoying drinks at an after-party upstairs. Mischa was originally at nearby (hotspot) Proud, but headed over to The Flowerpot once she knew Luke and his pals would be there,” the Daily Star quoted a source as telling the London Paper

Mischa apparently attended Luke’s gig, and was spotted canoodling with him soon after.

“Mischa made a beeline for Luke, and they soon started kissing, before then leaving the party to go back to Mischa’s hotel room,” the source added. (ANI)

English schoolgirl claims to have spotted UFO

London, Mar 21 (ANI): An English schoolgirl claims that she has spotted a UFO and even managed to film it.

She has revealed that she saw a pulsing ball of blue light close to an RAF base on February 21.

Harriet Rogers and her father followed the glowing ball as it hovered high above her house, about eight miles from RAF Cosford in Shrops, and filmed it for seven minutes as it moved across the night sky and bizarrely started to change colour.

The two watched as the light pulsed like a heartbeat, became brighter, and then disappeared over the horizon 20 minutes later.

“My grandmother telephoned telling us about a light in the sky, we went upstairs and had a look,” the Telegraph quoted her as saying.

“What my dad and I saw was a light much brighter compared to the stars.

“At first, we thought it was a helicopter but then my dad and I went outside but could not hear any rotary blades.

“That’s when we started getting suspicious, so I got the camcorder out.

“To the human eye, it just looked like a bright light, but on the camcorder we could see it pulsing, then suddenly changing colours. It was low in the sky,” she said.

Harriet chased the ball along the Craven Arms Road in Bridgnorth to try to get a bit closer, and then watched as it sunk beyond the horizon.

“This is when you could see with your own eyes that it was pulsing and changing colours,” she said.

“We stopped in a lay-by and rested the camcorder on a gate post where we got the best shots.

“We could see how it was getting much brighter than before.

“This isn’t the only time that we have seen it, we have seen about two other strange lights on separate occasions, all roughly in the same direction but not the exact place,” she added. (ANI)

Bob Dylan’s portable lavatory getting complains from neighbours

London, Mar 18 (ANI): American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan has landed himself in trouble with his neighbours, after his portable lavatory caused noxious fumes to travel over the wall into the house next door.

Dylan, 67, set up the portable lavatory to cater to his security staff, who patrol his estate in Malibu at night.

However, his neighbours have now complained that the stench coming from it is making parts of their house no longer habitable.

“Mr Civil Rights is killing our civil rights!” the Independent quoted David Emminger as telling reporters, as he pointed out the controversial, blue portable lavatory, which is behind a storage container next to a wire fence that marks the border of Dylan’s property.

Emminger claims that his eight-year-old son, David junior, has fallen ill from the fumes.

“It started in September. I’d go into the front yard and get nauseous,” Emminger’s wife, Cindy, told the Los Angeles Times.

“I couldn’t figure out at first where the smell was coming from, until I finally noticed that they had moved the porta-potty directly in front of my front door.

“We both have allergies and are sensitive to chemicals. It’s worse when it’s misty outside at night. We turn on the five fans, but it still gets inside our house. We’re not even using the upstairs now. We sleep downstairs,” she added.

The couple have had to install five industrial-sized outdoor fans in their front yard to blow noxious fumes back on to Dylan’s property. Malibu City public health officials are investigating the complaint, though when the city tried to send an officer to inspect the contentious lavatory in January, he was turned away by Dylan’s security staff and accused of trespassing.

“[The guard] said they were going to sue the city,” an inspector told the paper.

No comments on the matter have been made by Dylan’s spokesman or his New York-based attorney. (ANI)

Kutcher to star in football-themed comedy film ‘Traded’

Washington, Feb 18 (ANI): Actor Ashton Kutcher is in final negotiations to star in football-themed film Traded.

The plot of the comedy film revolves around a superstar NFL quarterback and a 12-year-old middle school geek who magically trade bodies, and then quickly learn valuable lessons about humility and courage, reports the Variety.

The script has been written by David Stem and David Weiss of “They Came From Upstairs,” fame.

Kutcher, who recently starred in “What Happens in Vegas,” has two films in his kitty: the indies “Personal Effects” and “Spread.”

Meanwhile, the Punk’d star is plotting to re-stage Michael Jackson’s infamous baby-dangling incident after finding out that he was staying in the same hotel room as the singer.

He revealed on his online Twitter.com post that he was planning to repeat the blunder by wrapping up a doll and hanging it over the heads of the paparazzi outside from the balcony of his room at Berlin’s Hotel Adlon. (ANI)

Liz Taylor once caught Richard Harris drinking her expensive perfume!

London, Jan 29 (ANI): Late Hollywood actor Richard Harris was once caught drinking legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor’s perfume.

After spotting him, the stunning beauty kicked him out of her home.

The ‘Camelot’ actor, who was known for his wild-partying ways and was a renowned lifelong drinker, was caught downing Elizabeth’s Chanel No. 5, revealed his son Jared Harris.

Jared revealed that his father and his ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ co-actor Jason Flemyng’s father were together downing the perfume when Taylor caught them before throwing them out of her house.

“His (Flemyng’s) dad and my dad were friends when they were young men in Hollywood. They went to a party Elizabeth Taylor was giving,” The Daily Express quoted Jared, as saying.

“She cut off the alcohol and kicked everyone out. She went up to bed and found Jason Flemyng’s father and my father upstairs downing all the Chanel No.5,” Jared added. (ANI)

Queen told to open Buckingham Palace to the public more often

London, Jan.27 (ANI): A powerful committee of MPs has urged Queen Elizabeth to open Buckingham Palace more often to the public in return for an increase in taxpayers’ money for the upkeep of the Royal palaces.

According to The Telegraph, the decision of Michelle Obama, America’s new First Lady, to pledge to make the White House more accessible was held up as an example by the MPs to the Monarchy, which only opens Buckingham Palace in August and September for fee-paying tours when no member of the family is there: a total of 63 days a year.

Some MPs proposed it opened at weekends throughout the year when the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are elsewhere.

Sir Alan Reid, the Keeper of the Privy Purse, was giving evidence to the Commons public accounts committee after the government rejected an appeal from the Queen to increase the taxpayer-funded grant for the Palaces by four million pounds a year. The grant has been frozen at 15 million pounds for 12 years.

Sir Alan said that members of the Royal Family are in residence at the Queen’s London home for around 300 days of the year with the Queen at Buckingham Palace three to four days a week.

He said it was not practical for members of the public to wander around the royal residence during a state visit while a foreign head of state was in the building.

But Committee Chairman Edward Leigh countered by saying: “You cannot close the whole palace because the Duke of York is sitting in his flat upstairs.”

The plight of some of the palaces, whose maintenance is paid for by the taxpayer, is causing growing concern to the Queen.

The Royal Mausoleum at Frogmore, near Windsor Castle, which houses the tomb of Queen Victoria, has been designated by English Heritage as “at risk” after part of the ceiling fell in.

A large stretch of roof at Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace also needs replacing after some masonry fell off narrowly missing the car owned by the Princess Royal.

Some of the grandest state rooms at Buckingham Palace have not been redecorated since the Queen came to the throne in 1952.

The ornate Blue Room, has now turned a pale shadow of grey. The palace wiring, which should have been replaced 10 years ago, was installed in 1949.

Leaks in the roof of the palace’s picture gallery have been identified as a threat to works by masters such as Rembrandt. The crumbling façades on all sides of the quadrangle at Buckingham Palace are in need of maintenance. The work, which is classed as urgent because of the potential danger to those walking underneath, will cost an estimated 3m pounds over five years

The hearing was called by the committee after a report by the National Audit Office criticised the Government’s handling of the maintenance backlog. (ANI)

JFK’s daughter Caroline experienced first gaffe with press at age 6

New York, January 7 (ANI): Former U.S. President John F. Kennedy’s daughter Caroline made a real gaffe when she interacted with the press for the first time at the tender age of six, says a book.

‘Rethinking Kennedy: An Interpretive Biography’ by Michael O”Brien reveals that Caroline was approached by a group of reporters while she was running around the White House.

One of the reporters asked her what her father was doing, says the book.

“Oh, he”s upstairs with his shoes and socks off, not doing anything,” the New York Post quoted her as having replied to the question at the time. (ANI)
