POK PM says he is as patriotic as any other Pakistani citizen

Islamabad, May 12 (ANI): Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider has denied allegations levelled against him in a TV programme, and said that he is “as patriotic as any other Pakistani citizen, while fulfilling the role of a key person in the valley’s administrative matters.”

Addressing a press conference, he said he would inform Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani about the details of the TV programme, and “ask him to take action against the person responsible for deliberately defaming and demoralising him at the forum of state-run media.”

He also ruled out differences in the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference (AKJMC), saying the “ruling party is successfully running POK’s affairs”.

Paying respect and homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the POK premier said he was “shocked beyond belief” over accusations that he had spoken disrespectfully of Jinnah.

“How I can utter such words,” the Daily Times quoted him, as saying.

Haider added that he and his forefathers had never accepted the slavery of English rulers, and played a cohesive role in the freedom movement, and succeeded in gaining a separate homeland. (ANI)

World’s longest running soap comes to an end

London, September 19 (ANI): The world’s longest running soap opera ‘Guiding Light’, spanning seven-decades and 15,700 episodes, has come to an end.

The American TV programme, which started as a 15-minute daily drama on NBC radio in 1937 before moving to television in 1952, was screened for the last time after a decline in the ratings in recent years.

CBS Senior Vice President Barbara Bloom said the show, that bagged dozens of awards including an Emmy, had set new heights with its treatment of social issues such as cancer, alcoholism and teenage pregnancy.

“No show in daytime or prime time, or anytime, has touched so many millions of viewers across so many years as Guiding Light,” The BBC quoted Barbara as saying.

The show is reportedly set to be replaced by a new edition of game show ‘Let’s Make a Deal’. (ANI)

Jackson fans spot ‘his ghost at Neverland’

London, July 6 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s fans are flooding the Internet with messages after allegedly spotting the singer’s ghost at his Neverland Ranch in a live TV programme last week.

A shadow resembling the King of Pop’s figure was said to have been seen on a wall in the star’s former home during CNN’s ‘Inside Neverland’.

The figure was later alleged to have walked across the corridor, rushing quickly from left to right before vanishing, reports British tabloid The Sun.

The spectre, which went unnoticed by the presenter and the cameraman, was apparently observed after the programme was posted on the popular video sharing website YouTube.

It was there that the fans reportedly spotted the shadow, and insisted it to be Jackson’s ghost. (ANI)

Washington, July 02(ANI): Want to date Megan Fox? Well, then, getting a tattoo of the actress’ name or face on your body is a must.

The actress insists that boys should tattoo her name or face on their bodies if they fancy being her boyfriend.

“I have eight tattoos. All my boyfriends are required to have one and if they don’t have one yet, I make them get a tattoo of my name or my face,” Contactmusic quoted her as telling to TV programme ‘The Early Show’.

The ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ star also revealed that she hardly had any clue what the film was all about and that she does not prefer watching her own films.

She said: “I usually don’t watch things that I do because I’m very neurotic about it and I can’t sit through it. But I had to watch this one because everyone was saying ‘Megan, it’s really good, you have to watch it.’
It’s massive. I don’t know how people can see it on IMAX without having a brain aneurism or at least a migraine headache. I’m in the movie and I read the script and I still don’t know what’s happening so I think if you haven’t read the script and you see it and you understand it you are a genius,” she added. (ANI)

Buffy The Vampire Slayer to be turned into a flick

Washington, May 27 (ANI): After entertaining fans on the small screen, ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ is all set to hit cinema halls with a forthcoming flick based on it.

Though the character of Buffy was made famous by Hollywood actress Sarah Michelle Gellar in the hit TV sitcom, it was originally introduced in the 1992 flick of the same title.

The Vampire flick could hit the theatres with a new Vampire.

Director Fran Rubel Kuzui, who directed the original film and executively produced the TV programme, intends to replace Gellar and the rest of the cast with new actors to fight demons in a different generation.

“Everything has its moment. Every movie takes on a life at some point, and this seems like the moment to do this,” Contactmusic quoted Kuzui as saying.

The famous Vampire sitcom ran for 6 years on TV. (ANI)

IPL ratings on the downswing after first year high

New Delhi, Apr.24 (ANI): The Indian Premier League is struggling to match the immense interest of last year’s inaugural season after organisers were forced to shift the 37-day Twenty20 tournament to South Africa.

The inaugural IPL’s TV rating attracted top-spending advertisers last year, but viewers’ attention now seems to be wavering.

The IPL is being played April 18-May 24 across eight cities in South Africa after organisers failed to get a security clearance from the Indian government due to a clash of dates with the general elections.

Replicating the success of the IPL’s first edition in 2008 was always going to be tough, but audience ratings have taken on more importance since the shift away from India has effectively turned the IPL into a made-for-television event, reports SAPA.

“The start hasn’t been as bright as last year’s, but media watchers say IPL’s second season still promises to be a big hit on TV,” reported The Times of India newspaper.

The Times, quoting audience measurement agency INTAM Media Research, said the first day’s IPL telecast from South Africa “notched up a TRP (television rating points) of 5.55 percent.”

Last year, the IPL had averaged around a TRP of 5 percent throughout the series, sustaining itself as the top TV programme in the country of one billion-plus people across 44 days.

The Business Standard newspaper said the dip in viewing figures has not surprised media agencies.

“The novelty factor was missing since this is the second year. This trend is also noticeable for realty shows that air for the second or third time,” the Business Standard quoted Havas Media India’s chief executive Anita Nayyar as saying. (ANI)

Amateur photographer captures UFO hovering over London

London, April 8 (ANI): An ‘uncanny’ glowing disc hovering above London has been captured by an amateur photographer.hmad Zaigham, 30, took the picture of the unidentified object from his home in South Harrow, North West London.

“I was immersed in the TV programme when just by chance I saw this uncanny light in the sky and I was instantly mesmerised,” the Telegraph quoted Zaigham as saying.aigham, a computer engineer, was able to take one shot of the object as it was stationary for a few seconds.

“Then it moved rapidly up and above at incredible speed, a comparable speed to a fighter jet at full power, so fast that panning the camera in the direction was impossible,” he said.

Zaigham also said that the object made a ‘whistle kind of sound’ and seemed to ‘quickly fade in light’ after he took the picture.

“The light coming from this thing is something I have never seen the like. I dont think any aircraft has a light like this,” he said.

Zaigham has said that he may handover the photograph to NASA for further investigation. (ANI)

Britain’s dumbest dad can’t even spell ‘Father’!

London, January 13 (ANI): An 18-year-old sex-fuelled predator, who has children with three different teenage girls, has been dubbed “Britain’s Dumbest Dad” because he can’t even spell the word ‘Father’.

Bragging Ben got his comeuppance on Jeremy Kyle’s telly chat show, where he came face-to-face with the feisty host over claims that he had fathered yet another child with a young lover.

During the show, the disgusted host asked the chav whether he could even spell “father”, and Ben said spelt out “F-A-R-T-H-E-R” in front of a million viewers.

“The TV host realised that Ben was not the brightest button in the box and set him up by asking him if he could even spell father,” the Daily Star quoted one giggling viewer as saying.

“When Ben opened his mouth and started to spell out the letters the girl beside him on stage in the studio put her hand over her mouth and choked as he inserted the extra R in ahead of the T.

“The entire audience were in stitches as Ben didn’t know he’d made a basic spelling mistake.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if the stud he had through his eyebrow was actually an earring he’d put in the wrong place by accident,” the viewer added.

Kyle even chucked Ben off the show after he refused to go on an anger management course organised by the TV programme.

A six-foot studio bouncer guided the suit-wearing chav off the set.

An ITV spokesman did not disclose much about Ben. (ANI)
