Ronan Keating ‘accused of cheating by wife’

London, May 21 (ANI): Boyzone star Ronan Keating’s marriage is said to be on the rocks – his wife Yvonne has reportedly thrown him out of the house accusing him of cheating on her.

The former model, 36, ordered the singer to leave their Dublin home after a late-night showdown.

The news comes months after the tragic death of the Boyzone star’s close friend and band member, Stephen Gately.

“Ronan left home on Monday after Yvonne asked him to leave. There was lots of arguing again on Tuesday over everything from rumours about other women to his upcoming work in Australia and they decided to split,” The Sun quoted a band source as saying.

“Telling the kids was heartbreaking. They were both just devastated and never thought it would happen. Custody and things like that have not been talked about yet, it”s just too raw,” the source added. (ANI)

Musharraf to join ‘practical politics’ soon, says close aide

Washington, Apr.22 (ANI): Former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf is likely to join ‘practical politics’ soon as he is expected to be made the president of the newly floated All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), a close aide of the autocratic ruler has revealed.

The aide, who spoke of conditions of anonymity, also disclosed that a number of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders, including Faisal Saleh Hayat, Hamid Nasir Chattah, and Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri met Musharraf in Abu Dhabi recently and assured him of all their support.

They, however, clarified that due to election laws it would not be possible for them to join the APML at present.

Musharraf, who is on US tour these days, has also denounced the UN report, which blamed his regime for the tragic death of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Musharraf believes that he could not be held responsible for Bhutto’s assassination because he was neither the head of the government nor the Army Chief at the time of the attack, The News quoted the former President’s close aide, as saying. (ANI)

Facebook refuses to install paedophile ‘panic button’

London, March 19 (ANI): Facebook has refused to install the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (Ceop) centre ‘panic button’ on its page to report suspected paedophiles, but it has vowed to develop its existing system.

The social networking site has been pressured to start the ‘panic button’ on its pages, after Peter Chapman was convicted for the murder of 17-year-old Ashleigh Hall, whom he lured using Facebook, reports The BBC.

Richard Allan, director of policy for Facebook Europe, said the site did not plan to include the button, as it might be effective in principle “for other sites,” but not for Facebook.

Nonetheless, the site has agreed to have links to organisations including the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (Ceop) centre on its reporting pages.

Jim Gamble, head of Ceop, wants the button to be on the front page of every profile page, “so that children are reassured and empowered, so are their parents, and offenders are deterred. That”s the key.”

Websites such as Bebo are already using the ‘panic button’.

Facebook said it was “deeply saddened by the tragic death” of Hall. (ANI)

Jacko’s kids quizzed about dad’s behaviour towards them

London, July 6 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s kids were reportedly quizzed by social services within hours of their dad’s tragic death.

The Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services launched the probe as they discovered the extent of the singer’s addiction to prescription drugs.

The investigators gently interrogated Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II – known as Blanket – to find out whether they were exposed to narcotics like methadone, the heroin substitute discovered from Jacko’s house.

According to an insider, social workers could take legal action themselves to safeguard the youngsters.

The investigators also questioned the kids about the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker’s behaviour towards them and their grandmother Katherine, 79 at her home in Encino, California.

“The investigation was initially launched because drugs are so heavily involved,” the Sun quoted an insider as saying.

“But in this particular case there are also red flags from all the family history and from Michael’s prior involvement in molestation cases.

“The DCFS has 27 days to investigate the case and close it.

“They will check everyone involved in the children’s lives for a criminal background.

“If they are satisfied the kids have been raised in a decent environment, then no further action will be taken.

“But if they are not satisfied, that’s when they take it to court,” the insider added. (ANI)

One report indicates four puncture sites were found on the Thriller hitmaker’s chest, believed to be the result of the attempts to restart his heart with shots of adrenaline.

Jacko’s hips, thighs and shoulders were also reportedly riddled with needle wounds.

It has also revealed that Jackson weighed just 50 kilograms when he died and was also discovered to be balding.

However, County Coroner’s office has dismissed the reports.

IJP candidate from UP’s Jaunpur seat found hanging from tree

Lucknow, Apr 13 (ANI): The body of an Indian Justice Party (IJP) nominee for the Jaunpur Lok Sabha constituency was found hanging from a tree on Monday.

Forty-eight-year-old Bahadur Sonkar’s body was found near Raja Ka Talab, barely 500 metres from his home in Ahiyapur-Rasheedabad locality, 200 km from here.

Central observers of the Jaunpur Lok Sabha seat have reached the spot and are investigating the case.

The tragic death of Sonkar has sparked off protests by party supporters and family members, according to whom a ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate is responsible for the killing.

Sonkar, who was contesting against the BSP’s Dhananjay Singh, had reportedly been concerned about his safety and had even asked for police protection from the Election Commission.

IJP President Udit Raj has blamed the Election Commission for the death, as they did not provide security to the candidate even after repeated requests.

Meanwhile, the police has claimed that it is a murder and not a suicide case.

Jaunpur District Magistrate Aparna Upadhyaya has refused to comment on the issue. (ANI)

“[Seeing them] was like old times. Nothing awkward and no topics to dance around. There were smiles,” the friends stated.

“They’re relying on their faith to get them through this,” the friend said.

BBC criticised over news coverage of Jade Goody’s death

London, Mar 25 (ANI): The BBC has come under fire over the extensive news coverage of Jade Goody’s death.

The broadcaster was criticised over the coverage of the story as 69 official and many online complaints poured in.

Goody, 27, died of cervical cancer last Sunday. Peter Horrocks, the head of the BBC’s multimedia newsroom, however, justified the coverage, insisting that it was justified both on the grounds of the level of public interest in the reality star, and the “awareness of cervical cancer” that her illness raised.

But many people felt the story should not have been the lead story on the news bulletin on The Andrew Marr Show and were critical that the story was covered so prominently across all its television and radio networks – and across its international news services including the World Service.

“I’m also extremely sorry that she’s died, but I really don’t think the BBC should make it their first major story on the News,” The Telegraph quoted a comment, as stating.

Another added: “This leads the BBC news page and is the first thing you see when clicking onto the BBC website, it is all rather pathetic.

“She is dead, it is sad, but no sadder than the many young people who died a tragic death overnight.”

Horrocks acknowledged that Goody was a “divisive” figure.

Writing in the BBC’s Editors’ blog, he said: “Goody became a phenomenon, both in terms of the interest she inspired in the public and in the effect that her sad death had on awareness of cervical cancer.

“To make a legitimate news judgement about our coverage, we applied the same criteria as we usually use: should we report this, and if so, how? Knowing that there was a possibility that Jade would die soon, we talked about whether this was a story we would lead on in the absence of other significant news.” (ANI)

Tweed struggling to cope with Goody’s death

London, Mar 25 (ANI): Brit celebrity Jade Goody’s hubby Jack Tweed has revealed that he is struggling to cope with the tragic death of his wife.

Tweed, 21, did not have much to say, as he left his mum Mary’s home for lunch with two of his friends at a Zizzi’s restaurant in Redbridge, Essex.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their kind support and for all the flowers,” the Sun quoted him as saying.

His sister Laura, 24, and mum had earlier visited Goody’s Upshire home to look at the huge display of flowers and gifts, which have been left outside the gates.

Mary was asked how her son was coping, and she revealed that he is finding it difficult.

“Jack is ok. He’s finding it very difficult but we’re there for him,” she said. (ANI)

Natasha Richardson passes away after skiing accident

London, March 19 (ANI): British actress Natasha Richardson has succumbed to the injuries she had recently sustained in a skiing accident in Canada.

The 45-year-old died in a New York hospital on March 18 in presence of her mother Vanessa Redgrave, husband Liam Neeson, and sister Joely Richardson.

The ‘Parent Trap’ star had met with an accident and suffered a head injury, during a private ski lesson at Mont Tremblant resort on March 16.

Richardson initially did not show any signs of injury but later complained of a headache, and was admitted to the Hospitalier Laurentien.

She was shifted to intensive care before being jetted to a New York hospital accompanied by Neeson, who was shooting when the accident occurred.

The Oscar-winner was said to be red-eyed and tearful while visiting the hospital.

“Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha,” the Telegraph quoted a statement from the family as saying.

“They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time,” the statement added.

Reports suggest that Richardson might have suffered a blood clot on the brain.

A doctor said that her condition could have been “talk and die syndrome” in which the patient appears unharmed by an impact, but later suffers a rapid collection of blood between the skull and the brain. (ANI)

Zimbabweans flock to stadium farewell for Susan Tsvangirai

Harare – Zimbabweans began making their way by foot and car Tuesday to a stadium in the capital Harare to bid farewell to Susan Tsvangirai, the popular wife of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai who was killed in a car crash at the weekend.

Scores of people had already gathered at Glamis Stadium for the noon memorial service that is expected to be thronged by supporters of Tsvangirai’s Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). Some had hitched a lift from 150 kilometres away.

Susan Tsvangirai died on Friday after an aid truck struck the car in which she and the prime minister were travelling to a party rally in their hometown of Buhera. She will be buried in Buhera on Wednesday.

Given Zimbabwe’s long history of politicians being injured or killed in mysterious car crashes, many MDC supporters immediately suspected foul play by die-hard supporters of President Robert Mugabe, Tsvangirai’s rival.

But Tsvangirai himself on Monday discounted the theory, insisting his wife’s death was an accident.

The tragic death of Tsvangirai’s wife of 31 years, less than a month after he became prime minister of a power-sharing government with Mugabe, has traumatized MDC supporters.

The MDC said the quiet, motherly figure had been a “pillar of strength” to the party leader during his 10 tough years as opposition leader.

Hundreds of people crammed into the couple’s modest home on Monday to pay their respects to the family, singing hymns late into the night in the driving rain.

Tsvangirai suffered minor injuries to the head and neck in the crash, which occurred when a truck carrying foreign aid swerved and side-swiped his vehicle, missing other vehicles in his convoy.

A court on Monday granted the driver of the truck, who faces charges of culpable homicide, bail of 100 Zimbabwe dollars, a fraction of a US dollar. (dpa)
