Guy Ritchie ‘to remake classic musical Guys And Dolls’

London, May 27 (ANI): If rumours are to believed, Guy Ritchie is set to direct a remake of classic musical ‘Guys And Dolls’.

According to sources, Ritchie has been given the green light by studio bosses in tinsel town to embark on a casting mission to fill the roles of Sky Masterson and Nathan Detroit – played by screen legends Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra in the original.

“Guy has been on the case with the idea of making a musical recently,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

“He had been throwing ideas around with Jason Statham about writing their own musical. They were joking that it would be a cross between Worzel Gummidge and Bullitt.

“Guy has had a lot of meetings with top studio bosses about other projects but the Guys And Dolls idea really tickled him.

“He is torn between keeping the script true to the original in New York and taking it to familiar surroundings in London,” the source added.

The 1955 film, based on the hit Broadway musical, was about a bloke who wanted to stay out with his pals every night gambling rather than spend time at home with his religious missus. (ANI)

Bollywood personalities cast their votes, urge people to join in numbers

Mumbai, Apr 30 (ANI): Leading personalities of the tinsel town of Bollywood queued up at various polling stations in Mumbai to cast their votes in the third phase of elections to the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Ten parliamentary constituencies in Mumbai and Thane districts went to the polls today, which incidentally culminates the general elections in Maharashtra.

Among the stalwarts from Bollywood who came forth early to cast their votes were the successful director-cum-producer Karan Johar, Oscar award winning lyricist and filmmaker, Gulzar, actor Rahul Bose, John Abraham, Amrita Rao, Paresh Rawal and legendary actors such as Prem Chopra and Rishi Kapoor.

Director Karan Johar was of the view that the citizens should collectively take the country forward by electing the right candidates as their representatives.

“We teach everyone to go up there and cast their votes for a better tomorrow in the country. Over and above we are on our way of being a very fast developing nation and I think there may be some road blocks but we can still achieve that goal and I think with the right people at the helm of things, we will take India forward,” said Karan Johar, ace Bollywood director-cum-producer.

Actor Rahul Bose, who exercised his electoral franchise at a polling booth in the Peddar Road area of south Mumbai, said that whosoever comes to power, he/she should treat all ‘Mumbaikers’ (residents of Mumbai) equally.

Indeed, it was a taunting remark at several fundamentalists like the Thackerays who have been spitting venom at non-Maharashtrians.

“We look for candidates who will look at the very rich and the very poor equally – that for me is a big thing. A sense of inclusiveness – not Maharashtra, non-Maharashtrian, not someone from north India, non-north Indian; a sense of inclusiveness including for women, safety for women and a sense of compassion,” said Bose.

“The fact that at the end of the day is that we are all one city and whether it’s a flood or bomb blasts, ultimately we have to be treated like one city. That’s the most important thing,” observed actor Rahul Bose.

Actor John Abraham urged the young electorates to come out and exercise their adult franchise.

“All I want to say to the youngsters is that they should come out and cast their votes. Please come out and vote,” said John Abraham.

The constituencies where polling took place today were Mumbai North, Mumbai North-East, Mumbai North-West, Mumbai North-Central, Mumbai South-Central, Mumbai South; Thane, Kalyan, Bhiwandi and Palghar. By Parihash Hate (ANI)

Famed ‘Love Guru’ of Patna heralds his election manifesto

Patna, Apr 10 (ANI): Matuk Nath Chaudhary, a Hindi lecturer of Patna University in Bihar, reportedly under suspension, deviated from his romantic pursuits to float a forum of his favourite choice named ‘Prem Party’.

Thus Chaudhary and his admirers have resolved to make forays into the arena of politics by contesting in the electoral battle to the Lok Sabha.

And aptly, Chaudhary who carved out an unerasable name for himself as ‘Love Guru’ for his romantic episodes with Julie one of his students two years ago released the party’s election manifesto.

Incidentally, Prem Party’s nominee will contest the parliamentary elections from Patna Saheb constituency, but as an independent candidate.

“Today in political parties, if one doesn’t move ahead then he either quits the party or indulges in criminal acts to fulfill his wishes. Such kinds of selfishness, corruption and hatred are present in today’s politics. I am against such politics and hence I have launched this ‘Prem Party’ in cause of the society and live upto the expectations,” said Chaudhary.

Though Chaudhary has formed ‘Prem Party’, which is yet to be recognized by the Election Commission of India, he will contest Lok Sabha elections independently.

His manifesto also pledges new ‘love parks’ where couples can woo and coo alongwith one’s heartthrob under the tree shade.

Chaudhary is hopeful that he would attract the maximum number votes of youngsters with the belief he has a sea of admirers, particularly among the younger generation and other romantically inclined persons.

“The main thing is for one to progress but the youth is going astray on the issues of love. Parties focussing on development are good but not the ones which play politics on the issue of love which the youth needs to understand,” said Rupesh Kumar, a student and an activist of Prem Party.

Chaudhary will have to fight the polls against certain bigwigs from the tinsel world like Shatrughan Sinha representing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shekhar Suman, who is contesting as a candidate of Congress party from the Patna Saheb constituency.

With a wink and twinkle in his eyes, Chaudhary will have to convince his voters that he is in no way immoral since his opponents are from Bollywood equally famous for ‘casting couch’ episodes as good or worse as his affairs with Julie. y Ajay Kumar (ANI)

Squatters move into £22.5M London home after eviction from nearby cheaper property

London, January 11 (ANI): A group of squatters, known as The Temporary School of Thought, has set up home in a property worth 22.5 million pounds in the heart of London’s Mayfair after being evicted from a nearby 6.3-million-pound home.

The new abode of the squatters, who describe themselves as artists, is owned by Timekeeper Ltd.

The are running workshops “of mutual learning, left wing bias, and free lectures” to legitimise their presence at Clarges Mews.

According to reports, they installed themselves in the Grade II listed building on November 29 after being ejected from a residence in nearby Upper Grosvenor Street earlier in the month.

Their presence in the home was noticed last month when a Christmas tree adorned with tinsel and baubles was spotted in one of the windows.

Irked by the uninvited tenants, Timekeeper Ltd moved the court seeking their eviction.

The company’s solicitor Andrew Jeffrey tried to enforce a possession order on Friday to have the squatters immediately evicted from the property.

However, the case was adjourned to later in the month after a 30-minute private hearing at the Central London County Court, with District Judge John Taylor demanding Timekeeper to provide further evidence.

The squatters cannot legally be removed until an order is imposed, say reports.

Nine of them attended the hearing and hugged each other in celebration as they left the court.

They refused to talk to waiting reporters as they travelled in convoy on bicycle back to the house.

“Will you please leave as we have got things to do. We are expecting people and you guys are not very welcoming,” the Telegraph quoted one of them as saying.

The Temporary School of Thought is running a series of workshops including welding, contemporary dance, and Indian flute.

They advertised their “project” as: “A space where people come together to share knowledge, non-descript skills, tactical imagination, creationism, passive acts”. (ANI)
