Kiefer Sutherland’s love for television

London, March 31 (ANI): Kiefer Sutherland has said that he has no plans to return to films now that his hit show ‘24’ is coming to an end.

Sutherland, who portrays anti-terror agent Jack Bauer in the hit thriller, revealed, is keeping his fingers crossed to land another role in TV series, as films no longer inspire him.

“I grew up on films such as ‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’, ‘Urban Cowboy’, ‘Terms Of Endearment ‘and ‘Ordinary People’, but they don’t make those movies anymore. Drama got picked up by television,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying.

“TV is really the home of the drama. When you look at everything from ‘The West Wing’ to ‘The Wire’, ‘ER’ to ‘The Sopranos’, there’s amazing television out there.

“That’s why you’re seeing a huge influx of very successful actors looking at television for work,” he added..

However, the actor will make an exception for a blockbuster version of 24 that is set to start shooting next year. (ANI)

Neeson, could not make it to the New York premiere of ‘Chloe’ on March 16, but director Atom Egoyan was there to attest to the valour Neeson showed by coming back to the set for four days after his wife’s death.

“We tried to protect him,” the New York Daily News quoted Egoyan as saying.

Waratahs sneak past Force in thriller

The New South Wales Waratahs have surged into the Super 14 top four with a hard-fought 14-10 triumph over the Western Force in Perth.

The Waratahs trailed 10-8 at half-time but regained the lead courtesy of two penalties from fly half Daniel Halangahu, who took over the kicking duties from the wayward Berrick Barnes after the break.

The Force attacked relentlessly in the final 20 minutes and were unlucky not to find the winning try, with a dogged defensive effort from the ‘Tahs and some dubious calls from referee Jaco Peyper denying the home side on numerous occasions.

The Waratahs’ fourth win of the season and third on the trot allowed them to leapfrog the Brumbies into fourth, while the winless Force remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just one bonus point to show from five games.

The sides traded early penalties before ‘Tahs winger Drew Mitchell, appearing against his former side for the first time, scored the opening try of the night in the 16th minute when he beat Scott Staniforth to Halangahu’s perfectly-weighted grubber kick.

Barnes missed the conversion and sprayed his second penalty of the night seven minutes later but worse was to come from the ‘Tahs’ inside centre.

With the visitors on the attack, Barnes watched in horror as his pass was expertly picked off by Force winger Staniforth, who sprinted 60 metres to touch down unopposed under the posts.

James O’Connor’s conversion gave the Force a 10-8 half-time lead and Barnes almost gave up his second try of the night shortly after the break when Ryan Cross stripped him of the ball and sprinted towards the line.

This time, however, the ‘Tahs’ defence was able to scramble back in time to diffuse the situation much to the relief of Barnes.

The visitors hit the lead in the 56th minute when a penalty against the Force’s scrum allowed Halangahu to pop over the three points, with another penalty in the 64th minute extending the margin to four points.

Force fly half David Hill was held up over the line in the 69th minute and the home side could not find the winner despite a number of promising attacking forays.

The Force can find solace from the improved effort, with their line-out, which was badly exposed in last week’s 50-10 loss to Queensland, particularly impressive.

Waratahs: 14 (D Mitchell try; D Halangahu 2 penalties, B Barnes penalty)

Force: 10 (S Staniforth try; J O’Connor conversion, penalty)

Jackson family fuming over “This Is It” movie

New York, Sept 18 (ANI): They might have allowed release of Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ movie, but the late singer’s clan fears the movie is ‘propaganda’ for promoters trying to prove he was healthy enough to perform 50 concerts.

Joe Jackson had said in July, “Michael told me himself that he agreed to 10 shows. But they went and added all these other shows. I was worried about his health.”

However, promoter AEG maintained that the Thriller hitmaker was absolutely fit.

According to the sources, Jackson family privately fear it will be edited to exonerate the concert promoters, AEG Live.

“They believe the movie only includes the best clips of Michael’s final rehearsals. He supposedly looks fit, together and excited,” the New York Post quoted a source as saying.

“The family can’t speak out because money will be paid to the trust, but privately, they fear the movie is propaganda to back AEG’s argument that Michael was healthy and wasn’t being exploited,” the source added. (ANI)

Mika to moonwalk in MJ’s shoes

London, Sep 18 (ANI): Beirut-born singer Mika is set to fill Michael Jackson’s shoes, for he has inherited the late King of Pop’s designer shoes, including the ones the late superstar was to moonwalk in onstage at London’s O2 Arena.

The ‘Thriller’ hit-maker had hired Mika’s good friend Christian Louboutin to design all the fancy footwear for his ‘This Is It’ concerts.

But after Michael’s sudden death, Mika, 26, ended up with the lot.

Mika, whose ‘The Boy Who Knew Too Much’ album will be out next week, has now talked about the shoes.

“Christian Louboutin designed all of Michael Jackson’s shoes that he was supposed to be wearing for the O2 concerts,” the Mirror quoted him as saying.

“So when he died, Christian asked if I wanted them for my tour. They are amazing. One is a black soft leather lace-up which goes up to the ankle to support Michael while he was dancing.

“Then there is the pair which must have been made for him to moonwalk in. They are gold with a metal toe and the soles are really smooth and slippy to make it easy to moonwalk in.

“I think they are the only pair I might not wear. It’s a little freaky to think he’d have worn those to do the moonwalk in.

“Then again, who knows, it might give me some magic power to help me dance rather than just jumping around the stage like an idiot,” he added. (ANI)

MJ called dad to help deal with ‘bully’ music bosses, says La Toya

Washington, September 18 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s sister La Toya has revealed that the late singer called his father Joe to help him deal with music executives.

The revelation comes as a surprise as the King of Pop had been open about his troubled relationship with his dad.

“Michael had a wonderful relationship with my father,” Contactmusic quoted La Toya as saying.

The ‘Thriller’ singer apparently wanted his father to deal with music bosses of his future shows.

She said: ” About two or three weeks before he passed he was having this really big meeting with all these people that were working with him and he said, ‘Joseph, I need you to come, I need you to be there because I’m not liking anything these people are doing with me, I want you to be there and tell them like it is.’ He even wrote a note to say, ‘I must call Joseph to have him there.’” (ANI)

Whitney Houston says MJ’s addiction mirrored her own drug past

Washington, Sep 16 (ANI): Whitney Houston has confessed that she was shocked to hear the news of Michael Jackson’s death, and even went on to relate her own struggle with drugs to the King of Pop’s addiction to painkillers.

In a candid interview to talk show queen Oprah Winfrey on Tuesday, the ‘I Will Always Love You’ hit-maker revealed sordid details of her drug past, and the breakdown of her marriage to Bobby Brown.

Houston admitted that she was stunned to hear of Jackson’s passing, and claimed that the ‘Thriller’ legend’s drug problems mirrored her own.

“(Jackson’s death was) devastating. I have so many good memories of spending time with him. I’ve known his family for so many years that I thought, ‘It can’t be true,’” Contactmusic quoted her as telling Winfrey.

“I just remember doing the (Jackson 30th) anniversary special and I remember looking at Michael and I remember looking at myself and I was getting scared looking at him. I was looking at myself. I don’t want it to be like this. Mike and I were very close,” she added. (ANI)

Tito Jackson forgives MJ’s personal doctor Conrad Murray

London, Sep 16 (ANI): American singer Tito Jackson has revealed that he has forgiven his late brother Michael Jackson’s personal doctor Conrad Murray, the prime suspect in the ‘Thriller’ star’s death.

Jacko’s death on June 25, at the age of 50, has been officially declared a homicide.

However, Tito, 55, says that he does not hate the doctor.

“Have I forgiven him? We are supposed to forgive as humans,” the Mirror quoted him as saying.

“I’m not a hater or anything like that. I’m just going to take things one moment at a time.

“I’m supposed to forgive. We are supposed to forgive. That’s just my belief.

“So yes, I forgive. It’s what God said. You’re supposed to forgive. It’s a religious thing,” he added.

Jackson died from an overdose of the powerful anaesthetic Propofol.

Dr. Murray admitted administering a dose shortly before the star’s death at his Bel Air home. (ANI)

Kelly Brook’s “boobs and bikinis” flick ‘irks’ rugby beau

London, Sep 14 (ANI): Kelly Brook’s rugby beau Danny Cipriani is apparently not too happy with her steamy new flick.

According to reports, the England fly half, 21, was annoyed over the web coverage of 29-year-old Kelly’s “boobs and bikinis” movie ‘Piranha’.

“Danny’s a wholesome chap. The bikini scenes are a bit risqué,” The Daily Star quoted a source as saying.

Kelly and Danny have been dating since September 2008.

‘The Italian Job’ actress has earlier dated English actor Jason Statham for seven years and was engaged to actor Billy Zane, whom she met while filming thriller ‘Survival Island’. (ANI)

MJ’s secret sister JohVonnie reveals her ‘snub’ pain

London, September 14 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s half-sister has revealed that the pop legend wasn’t warm to her when she met him during a family get together.

JohVonnie Jackson, whose mum was a lover of MJ’s dad Joe, is close to her father.

She claims that the Jacksons have shunned her for 35 years but was once invited to the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker’s Neverland ranch in 2003 when the clan got together.

Also, JohVonnie alleges that she wasn’t allowed to talk to either the late singer or her half-sister Janet when she attended their concerts.

“I feel rejected by some of my family. It’s upsetting and hurtful,” the Mirror quoted her as saying.

Referring to her meeting with the late singer she said: “It was a big moment for me. But Michael was looking at me and seemed cold. He just said, ‘Hi’ and then he saw my daughter Yasmine and was fascinated with her.”

Jackson made a mistake pronouncing her niece’s name and called her ‘Jasmine,’ which JohVonnie corrected.

She recollected: “He said, ‘OK, Yasmine with a Y’, and that was it. He never acknowledged that I was his sister, there was no hug or kiss, not even a handshake. No physical contact at all.

“I wanted to embrace him. I thought he would want to go some place quiet and sit and talk with me and ask me about my life and get to know me a little better.

“It was very hurtful. He was not interested at all.

“With my daughter he was totally different. She got hugs and kisses, everything I didn’t get. I was a little jealous. But there was a bunch of people there and I never did get a chance to speak to Michael properly. Again, there was this theme that I felt shut out.”

Apparently, JohVonnie spent that night at a nearby hotel and returned to Neverland the next day but she didn’t get to see her iconic half-brother.

She said: “Michael was in the main house. Yasmine and Paris were off playing for hours. Paris is such a sweet girl.”

Though she said she talked to brother Jermaine and sister Rebbie but insists: “None of my other siblings acknowledged me much.” (ANI)

‘Mysterious messages’ penned by MJ in final hours emerge

London, September 13 (ANI): A string of messages penned by Michael Jackson in his final hours have come to light.

Post-its notes and sheets of paper, scribbled as “wishes for the world” have reportedly been found on the mirror in the late singer’s bathroom.

The notes allegedly show the King of Pop’s bizarre state of mind before he died of drug addiction on June 25, reports the News of the World.

Pals of the singer believe Jackson was using the notes as means to prepare himself for his comeback concerts in London.

Note number one, found on the right of Jackson’s gold-framed mirror, apparently read: “I am so grateful that I am a magnet for miracles.”

Note number two, pinned to the bottom of the mirror, a message in large handwriting said: “Love, no violence ever!” And underneath, in smaller handwriting, he had added: “Remember a beautiful future promise of tomorrow.”

Note number three was a startling reminder to perform the hit charity single he recorded with soul legend Lionel Ritchie in 1985, saying: “Do We Are The World in show”.

Note number four read “Call Temperton”, referring to British songwriter and producer Rod Temperton, who co-wrote several Jackson songs including Thriller and Rock With You.

A source said: “It’s worrying that he had to write reminders about things as obvious as these while he was rehearsing for his tour…But the drugs he was taking obviously had a huge impact on his mind and memory.” (ANI)

Soon, MJ’s ‘Thriller’ doll

London, Sept 8 (ANI): Michael Jackson has come alive in a new avatar – a lifelike doll.

The doll is inspired by the King of Pop’s 1983 Thriller music video, which showed him turning into a zombie.

The Hong Kong-based Hot Toys is the creator of the doll, which emphasizes most aspects of the late pop legend’s personality, even his trademark white socks, reports the Daily Star.uyers also have the option to exchange the doll’s head and clothes for the sinister, hollowed-eyed undead look.

The toy has 32 movable points, which enable it to reproduce MJ’s dance steps.

The doll will be available to MJ’s fans in Hong Kong and Japan only, where it will be released later this year. (ANI)
