Bristol Palin ‘gets $30K offer for public speaking’

Washington, May 19 (ANI): Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s daughter, Bristol, who got pregnant at the age of 17, will soon be discussing motherhood and parenting, as part of her public speaking job.

She has landed a deal with Single Source Speakers that will increase her fortune by anything between 15,000 and 30,000 dollars.

The Palin family attorney Thomas Van Flein said that her exact fees depends on factors such as which group she”s addressing and what she must do to prepare.

She has been listed on the speaking group”s website as available for conferences, fund-raisers, special events and holidays, as well as women”s, youth, abstinence and “pro-life” programs, reports the Telegraph.

World’s longest running soap comes to an end

London, September 19 (ANI): The world’s longest running soap opera ‘Guiding Light’, spanning seven-decades and 15,700 episodes, has come to an end.

The American TV programme, which started as a 15-minute daily drama on NBC radio in 1937 before moving to television in 1952, was screened for the last time after a decline in the ratings in recent years.

CBS Senior Vice President Barbara Bloom said the show, that bagged dozens of awards including an Emmy, had set new heights with its treatment of social issues such as cancer, alcoholism and teenage pregnancy.

“No show in daytime or prime time, or anytime, has touched so many millions of viewers across so many years as Guiding Light,” The BBC quoted Barbara as saying.

The show is reportedly set to be replaced by a new edition of game show ‘Let’s Make a Deal’. (ANI)

Govt Campaign Says Condoms Boost Women’s Sex Appeal

Govt Campaign Says Condoms Boost Women's Sex Appeal Government has been accused of encouraging promiscuity after launching a new campaign called ‘Condom confidence boosts women’s sex appeal’ to encourage young women to carry condoms.

The publicity drive, launched by health secretary Dawn Primarolo, is targeting women in their late teens and early 20s.

It also advises young women that “new research… reveals that women who take control in the bedroom by demanding safe sex are more attractive to English men”.

The drive also instructs young women on how to influence men to make use of condoms.

Moreover, it also recommends list of crude phrases including “If you make it clean, I’ll make it dirty” and “Let’s get you ready for the ride of your life”.

While lecturing in aid of the drive, Sarah Hedley, Cosmopolitan magazine writer, stated, “Taking a condom on a night out should be as normal as taking a phone, keys and purse”.

The £5.2 million publicity drive has aroused a storm of disapproval from MPs, young pregnancy specialists and family activists.

Patricia Morgan, author of academic studies on teenage pregnancy, said, “You could hardly do more to encourage promiscuity. It is close to asking girls to go about the place with notices on their foreheads saying they are available.”

“It is crude and brutal, and it will lead to more STIs, more pregnancies, and greater unhappiness.”

Tory MP Julian Brazier said, “I have always accepted that condoms have some role to play in fighting sexually-transmitted infections.”

“But it is very sad that the authors of this document do not seem to understand that the problem starts with growing levels of sexual activity by people with multiple partners.”

Mike Judge of The Christian Institute pointed out that the campaign is at odds with administration attempts to defend women from sexual aggression and rape.

He said: “This will encourage promiscuity and encourage men to think of women as sex objects. It will do nothing to discourage rape.”

Condoms make women sexier, says UK Govt. campaign

London, March 20 (ANI): A new Government campaign in the UK to encourage young women in their late teens and early 20s to carry condoms tells them that men are attracted to girls who carry the contraceptives.

The Department of Health has labelled the 5.2 million-pound publicity drive: “Condom confidence boosts sex appeal”.

“Men like nothing better than a woman who knows what she wants,” the Telegraph quoted the campaign as advising.

Launched by Health Minister Dawn Primarolo, the campaign also advises women on how to persuade men to use condoms.

Speaking for the campaign, Cosmopolitan magazine writer Sarah Hedley said: “Taking a condom on a night out should be as normal as taking a phone, keys and purse. There has never been a better time for women to be condom confident and enjoy a healthy, active sex life.’”

However, the Government has also been criticised for launching this campaign, with some accusing it of promoting promiscuity.

“I have always accepted that condoms have some role to play in fighting sexually-transmitted infections,” said Conservative MP Julian Brazier.

“But it is very sad that the authors of this document do not seem to understand that the problem starts with growing levels of sexual activity by people with multiple partners.

“This campaign is contributing to the further growth of the problem rather than to public health,” Brazier added.

Patricia Morgan, author of studies of teenage pregnancy, said: “You could hardly do more to encourage promiscuity. It is close to asking girls to go about the place with notices on their foreheads saying they are available.” (ANI)

Nudity can curb teen pregnancies, say nudists

London, Mar 19 (ANI): A more relaxed approach to naked bodies can help curb increasing number of teenage pregnancies, say nudists.

The British Naturist Society insists that it was no coincidence the highest number of teens got pregnant in the “least liberal” countries.

“Anyone who advocates prudery should be required to stand in front of a group of pregnant teenagers and explain why it is that, in countries such as Denmark or the Netherlands, most of them would not be pregnant,” the Sun quoted the society as saying in a paper submitted to the Scottish Government.

“There is strong evidence that conventional attitudes towards the human body contribute significantly to a wide range of problems, some of them serious – but there is incredible reluctance to face the implications.

“Westminster Government figures published recently show that the UK has the worst teenage pregnancy figures of any country in Europe, while the figures are even worse in Scotland.

“The UK is probably the most censorious country in Europe about anything to do with the body.

“This pattern of less body tolerance, worse outcomes is repeated across the Western world. Our research shows conclusively that this is no chance connection,” said Andrew Welch, commercial manager of the British Naturist Society.

The comments were made in a seven-page document lodged with the Scottish Government, which this month closed consultation on proposals to improve the lives of children. (ANI)
