Taylor Swift honoured at BMI Pop Music Awards

London, May 20 (ANI): Taylor Swift has won yet another accolade as she was honoured at the BMI Pop Music Awards in Beverly Hills on Tuesday – the ‘Song of the Year’ award.

This makes Swift the youngest recipient of the award, which she won for her song ‘Love Story’ – just one day after she received the Artist of the Year Award at the NARM Music Business Association”s gala in Chicago, Illinois on Monday.

The Daily Star reported that the award for the ‘songwriter of the year’ was presented to producer RedOne, for his work on Lady Gaga”s tracks Just Dance, Love Game and Poker Face, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Rocker John Fogerty was hailed as a BMI Icon and performed a set of solo songs and Creedence Clearwater Revival hits, reports the Daily Star.

Earlier BMI icons include James Brown, Dolly Parton, the Bee Gees and Paul Simon. (ANI)

Padma Lakshmi named sexiest chef by Victoria”s Secret

London, May 14 (ANI): Padma Lakshmi is the sexiest chef, according to bosses at lingerie firm Victoria”s Secret.

And singers Carrie Underwood”s legs, Taylor Swift”s hair and actress Christina Hendricks” curves help to create the perfect woman.

The three stunners have made it onto the company”s annual What is Sexy list.

Scarlett Johansson”s lips also found a place in the list, reports The Daily Star.

Lakshmi was named the Sexiest Chef in the list and Matthew McConaughey”s partner Camila Alves landed the Sexiest Mom honour.

Also named among the top 16 lovely ladies were Zoe Saldana (Sexiest Style) and Amber Heard (Sexiest Up-&-Coming Bombshell). (ANI)

Lady GaGa ”Most Influential Artist of 2010”

London, April 30 (ANI): Lady GaGa has been voted the world”s most influential artist in a new poll by America”s Time magazine.

The singer clinched the top spot in the list of 25 stars, with Conan O”Brien coming second and Kathryn Bigelow and Oprah Winfrey coming third and fourth respectively, reports the Daily Star.

GaGa”s entry featured a tribute from veteran popstar Cyndi Lauper, who described the ”Poker Face” singer”s lyrics as “incredibly literary” and “sophisticated”.

Lauper wrote: “When I see someone like GaGa, I sit back in admiration… She isn”t a pop act, she is a performance artist. She herself is the art.”

The top ten also featured Robert Pattinson at number six and Taylor Swift at nine. Meanwhile, Glee star Lea Michele was a surprise entry at number 13, above established stars such as Simon Cowell and Sir Elton John. (ANI)

Taylor Swift fuels rumours of Cory Monteith romance

London, March 26 (ANI): Taylor Swift has fuelled rumours of romancing Cory Monteith after she was caught on camera hugging the Glee actor on a night out in LA.

Swift, 20, was first said to be seeing Monteith, 27, when the duo were spotted together at a Grammy Awards party.

Speculation about their affair increased when they were spotted at Pinz bowling alley in L.A. earlier this week, reports the Daily Star.

Shutterbugs caught Monteith embracing Swift as they enjoyed a game, along with the singer”s pal Selena Gomez. (ANI)

New Delhi, Sept 17 (ANI): British actress Kate Winslet has been named the best dresser on red carpet in People magazine’s 10 best-dressed women of 2009, while America’s first lady Michelle Obama has bagged the spot for “best accessible glamour.”

Winslet, 33, has been named as the woman with the finest dress on the red carpet, “with her unique brand of sexy sophistication, modern Hollywood glamour and those enviable curves,” reports China Daily.

Walk the Line star Reese Witherspoon has also made it to the list for wearing the “best short dresses,” and actress Vanessa Hudgens has been named as the “best hippie chic.”

People listed former American Idol judge Paula Abdul and actress Renee Zellweger among the fashion flops.

Kanye West, Lady Gaga to hit the road for tour

Washington, Sept 16 (ANI): Kanye West and Lady Gaga are set to tour together this winter.

West and Lady Gaga will undertake the Fame Kills tour together, reports Contactmusic.

Their first show is slated to be held on November 10 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Meanwhile, the rapper and the pop singer had created some controversial scenes during the recently held MTV Video Music awards.

West had jumped onto the stage to protest Taylor Swift’s Best Female Video prize, while Gaga had faked her bloody death while singing Paparazzi. (ANI)

Taylor Swift gets new home

Washington, Sept 16 (ANI): Country singer Taylor Swift has bought a new apartment.

The ‘You Belong With Me’ hitmaker has been moving out of her family home in Tennessee, where she has been living with her mum.

“I just got my first condo,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

The 19-year-old singer has become the first country artist to win an MTV Video Music Award at the weekend (13Sep09) when she claimed Best Female Video.

Meanwhile, singer Kanye West ruined Swift’s excitement of winning the award when he jumped up on the stage and stated that Beyonce Knowles should have won. (ANI)

Kanye West says sorry for interrupting Taylor Swift at VMA

London, Sept 14 (ANI): Kanye West has apologized for jumping onto the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards while Taylor Swift was giving her acceptance speech.

The Telegraph quoted West as writing on his blog: “I’M SOOOOO SORRY TO TAYLOR SWIFT AND HER FANS AND HER MOM. I SPOKE TO HER MOTHER RIGHT AFTER AND SHE SAID THE SAME THING MY MOTHER WOULD’VE SAID. SHE IS VERY TALENTED!”

West had stormed onto the stage to protest that Beyonce had been overlooked for the Best Female Video for her “Single Ladies.”

Swift had beaten Beyonce to bag the honour.

West had interrupted her speech and had said: “Taylor, I’m really happy for you, and I’m gonna let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”

However, West still believes Beyonce deserved the honour.

Kanye West ruins Taylor Swift’s VMA acceptance speech

Washington, Sept 14 (ANI): Singer Taylor Swift’s excitement of winning the Best Female Video award was marred by Kanye West when he jumped up on the stage and stated that Beyonce Knowles should have won.

The 19-year-old songtress won the Best Female Video award for ‘You Belong With Me’ but as she started her acceptance speech, West, who had been drinking Hennessy on the red carpet appeared on stage and stated that Beyonce should have won for “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” reports Usmagazine.com.

He said, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, and I’m going to let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!”

Swift and Beyonce, who was in the audience, were left stunned and speechless.

The crowed then booed West off stage.

However, Knowles let Swift have her moment when she won ‘Video of the Year’ award at the MTV Video Music Awards.

She asked Swift to join her on stage and said, “I remember being 17-years old, up for my first MTV award for Destiny’s Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life.”

“So I would like for Taylor to come out and have her moment,” she added. (ANI)

Beyonce shares winning moment with Taylor Swift at VMAs

Washington, September 14 (ANI): Beyonce Knowles shared her winning moment with Taylor Swift after bagging the Video of the Year prize at the recent Video Music Awards.

Swift was interrupted by Kanye West earlier in the show when she was giving her acceptance speech for Best Female Video. West declared that Beyoncé should have received the award instead.

The R and B lady later invited fellow winner Swift onto the stage so she could complete her speech.

“This is amazing. I remember being 17-years-old, up for my first MTV award with Destiny’s Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life, so I would like for Taylor to come out and have her moment,” People magazine quoted her as saying.

A smiling Swift came out and said, “Maybe we can try this again.”

She continued, thanking “all my fans on Twitter and MySpace and everyone who came out to my shows this summer.”

Both the winners hugged and left the stage together while mentions of West apparently drew boos throughout the evening. (ANI)

Taylor Swift – Taylor Swift bags most prestigious country music honour

Keith Urban Washington, June 17: Taylor Swift has become the reigning queen of country music, after landing the top honour at the CMT Awards in Nashville, Tennessee on Tuesday.

The singer bagged the most prestigious prize of the night by scooping the award for Best Video for her single ‘Love Story’.

She was also handed the Best Female Video honour for the same song, and she paid tribute to her loyal supporters as she came on stage for her award.

“Thank you to the fans that come out to my shows and spend such hard work making these amazing scrapbooks and writing me letters. Reading your letters and reading your MySpace comments, anytime I have a bad day, you make those days good,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying to the crowd,

Brad Paisley won the best Male Video category for ‘Waitin’ on a Woman’, and also took home a trophy for his duet with Keith Urban.

Paisley and Urban’s ‘Start a Band’ song was named Collaborative Video of the Year.

Rascal Flatts scooped Group Video of the Year for ‘Every Day’ and Sugaland were named Duo of the Year, for their hit ‘All I Want to Do’.

The performers for the night included Swift, Paisley, Toby Keith, Sugarland, Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts.

Taylor Swift was a loner in junior high school

Washington, May 27 (ANI): Taylor Swift may have crowds falling at her feet now, but the popular young country artist did not have many friends during her high school days.

The 19-year-old singer, who recently kicked off her “Fearless” tour and entertained thousands at the sold-out Staples Center in Los Angeles, said she was an outsider during junior high.

“It doesn’t matter if you don’t have friends in junior high,” Fox News quoted her as saying.

“Being an outsider gave me time to think … But there was a time when my greatest fear was not fitting in at school; I never thought I would be here with a sold-out Staples Center,” she added.

The Love Story hitmaker, who later teamed up with admirer John Mayer onstage, further revealed her signature treatment to deal with heart-breaking beaus, saying she is not the “only girl that burns ex boyfriends’ pictures.”

Black Eyed Peas, Miley Cyrus lead singles chart

LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK (Billboard) – The Black Eyed Peas’ “Boom Boom Pow” led Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart for a second week on Thursday, while box office champ “Hannah Montana: The Movie” accounted for six tunes on the tally.

“Hannah Montana” star Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” rose two places to No. 8. “Hoedown Throwdown,” also from the movie, jumped 34 places to No. 28. Co-star Taylor Swift’s “Crazier” climbed 31 places to No. 38.

Miley Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Butterfly Fly Away” debuted at No. 72. “Let’s Get Crazy” re-entered at No. 75, and “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home” moved up nine to No. 88. Both are credited to Cyrus’ alter ego Hannah Montana. The soundtrack album jumped three places to No. 2 on the Billboard 200, which as published on Wednesday.

After the Peas, the top tier of the Hot 100 was barely changed, with Lady GaGa’s “Poker Face” holding at No. 2; Flo Rida’s “Right Round” at No. 3; Soulja Boy Tell’em featuring Sammie’s “Kiss Me Thru The Phone” at No. 4; Jamie Foxx featuring T-Pain’s “Blame It” at No. 5; T.I. featuring Justin Timberlake’s “Dead and Gone” at No. 6; Kid Cudi’s “Day ‘N’ Nite” at No. 7; and the Fray at No. 9 with “You Found Me.” The All-American Rejects fell two to No. 10 with “Gives You Hell.”
