Here”s why Annie Lenox wore “HIV Positive” tee

London, April 29 (ANI): Annie Lennox says she sported a t-shirt emblazoned with the words ”HIV Positive” on American Idol to express solidarity with the people infected with the deadly virus.

The Eurythmics star, 55, triggered speculations about her heath after she wore the tee on the talent hunt show last week.

However, she has now explained her decision for selecting the outfit.

“The fact that I wore the t-shirt made thousands of people speculate whether I was was HIV positive or not. So many people responded, that it was the number one most discussed topic on Yahoo and MySpace. It”s such a simple thing, to wear a t-shirt with a message like that… yet it is highly controversial, and it forces people to confront an issue that is usually ignored, or kept at a distance,” the Daily Star quoted her, as writing on her blog.

Lennox added: “The t-shirt is a bold statement of solidarity with those of us who are HIV positive. It risks social chastisement, because it is accompanied by a load of fear and taboo. We want HIV to go away… but it”s currently the biggest killer of women of reproductive age around the globe. As a woman and a mother I intend to keep sending out the message.” (ANI)

Microsoft pulls Kin advert over ”sexting” allegations

Sydney, April 19 (ANI): Microsoft has announced its decision to pull a controversial advert for its new Kin line of phones after complaints emerged that it promotes “sexting” among teens.

The advert shows a man in a club taking a photo under his T-shirt using a Kin phone and sharing it with his friends. Thereafter, a young woman is shown receiving the message with a smile on her face.

Many, including James Steyer, chief executive officer of the non-profit Common Sense Media, have criticised the advert saying it is “absolutely baffling” that Microsoft had chosen to promote its Kin phones by glorifying sexting.

“It is both irresponsible and outrageous that an industry leader like Microsoft would take a form of digital abuse and position it as ”cool and hip” in order to sell a new product that is directly targeted to a teen audience,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Steyer, as saying.

And now Microsoft has issued a statement saying the company views the issue of sexting “very seriously” and had never intended to promote it in any way. It said the advert was meant to capture “the energy and playfulness of the generation of social communicators”.

Microsoft said: “We have received feedback that one of the Kin lifestyle videos has a scene that did not come across in the spirit it was intended.

“Upon further review we have acknowledged that and since removed the clip.” (ANI)

Now ‘mirdle’ for men who want to streamline without hitting the gym

London, April 17 (ANI): M&S has launched a product for men, which will enable them to acquire a slimmer body shape without having to exercise or go on a diet.

The ‘mirdle’, which is really a girdle, is disguised as a T-shirt, and it is said to have inspired many men, who have been flocking M&S in search of it, reports Time Online.

Since debuting Bodymax, its first shapewear product, in January the company says that it has sold more than 15,000 of the garments.

Ranging in cost from 12 pounds vests to 15 pounds T-shirts, they promise to narrow even the most abundant abdomen by up to 1½ inches.

The M&S mirdle helped to boost clothing sales by 10.1 per cent in the last quarter.

Dave Binns, head of buying for men’s underwear, claimed that M&S “is the market leader in this area”.

Now there is a new luxury shapewear line, Bodymax+, which promises “maximum compression” via premium fabrics for a “sleek, streamlined look” — albeit at a cost.

The new top-of-the-line M&S mirdle will retail at 25 pounds vest and 29.50 pounds T-shirt.

As obesity levels rise, so does the mirdle’s encroachment into the menswear mainstream. (ANI)

England football fans take swipe at Scotland

London, Apr 16(ANI): England football fans will take a swipe at Scotland’s failure to qualify for this summer’s World Cup with quote t-shirt ‘SNP: Scotland Not Playing’.

The SNP is England’s response to the ‘ABE: Anyone But England’ t-shirts, which was earlier probed over racism claims.

“When it comes to sour grapes we decided we weren’t going to be out-graped by our northern cousins,” The Sun quoted an England website, as saying.

“We thought we”d return the compliment with our own ‘SNP – Scotland Not Playing’ World Cup top. It also goes along nicely with their very own Scottish National Party so we”re hoping it might annoy them even more,” it added.

Meanwhile, Scotland fans insist they were relieved that their England rivals have finally quit moaning and are up for a laugh.

“After their initial outrage at the ABE shirts, it’s good to see the English getting a sense of humour,” said Harvey Robertson, of The Famous Tartan Army magazine. (ANI)

Women body found in lake near Clooney’s Italy home

London, April 4 (ANI): The body of an unidentified woman with her throat slashed was found floating near actor George Clooney’s lakeside Italian home.

Giovanni Cetti, a passer-by, noticed the body near Clooney’s 20million pound villa at Laglio, on the shore of Lake Como.

“I saw her floating in the water out in the lake, close to a buoy and not far from George Clooney’s house,” the Daily Star quoted Cetti, as saying.

The woman is believed to be between 25-30 years of age.

Cops suspect she may have been a high-class escort.

The woman is reported to be attractive and “well kept”, with painted fingernails and dyed brown hair.

She was dressed in a T-shirt and black underwear.

A dolphin was tattooed on her left breast and she is believed to have had breast surgery.

Officers also suspect she may have been murdered in Switzerland, 40 miles away, and thrown in one of the many rivers that flow into the lake.

“There is a strong wind blowing towards the south and we believe the body was dumped up lake and taken down close to the home of George Clooney,” a police spokesman said. (ANI)

Aussie restaurant charges customers for wearing thongs

Melbourne, March 31 (ANI): An Aussie cafe is charging customers 10 dollars for wearing thongs as they enjoy a meal.

The “thongage” charge has been mentioned in a sign on the door of Tramontana restaurant on McMinn St, Darwin.

“It”s a formal restaurant – tablecloths, napkins. I wear shoes and socks,” News.com.au quoted owner John Spellman, as saying.

He added: “There”s actually a button on the register. I just put it on the bill – you don”t have to argue about it. Two lamb chops, one thongage.

“Why not have somewhere in town where people can dress up and be decent … a lady comes in dressed to the nines, guy”s wearing T-shirt and shorts.” (ANI)

Adebayor’s gun t-shirt shocker at 50 Cent concert

London, Mar 27(ANI): Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor reportedly wore a gun t-shirt to a 50 Cent concert weeks after he was attacked in Angola.

Two months ago, the 26-year-old and his Togo team-mates were attacked by terrorist gunmen during the African Cup of Nations, in which the team’s coach driver, PR man and assistant manager were shot dead.

However, despite the shocking incident which nearly killed him, Adebayor stunned fans when he came sporting a black shirt with a Smith and Wesson revolver emblazoned across the front.

“I was shocked to see him wearing a top like that after what happened to him in Africa,” The Daily Star quoted one onlooker, as saying.

“His fashion choice was tasteless considering all the people who died and were injured. You’d think he’d have more respect,” he added. (ANI)

Wayne Bridge’s new T shirt slogan: “F**K JT & V”

London, March 10 (ANI): Wayne Bridge displayed his bitterness about ex-England teammate John Terry’s sexcapades with his former flame Vanessa Perroncel by emblazoning his feelings on a T-shirt.

The footie and his Manchester City mates, including Micah Richards, 21, and Shaun Wright-Phillips, 28, got special Team Bridge shirts printed on their kids’ trip to Miami.

And plastered across the back were 29-year-old Bridge’s true feelings about Terry’s romps with Perroncel, 33, his child’s mum.

The slogan written in bold read: “F**K JT & V”.

Bridge and his pals gave out several of these printed shirts to snappers on their booze ’n’ babes vacation in the US sunshine state.

“Wayne’s not reacted at all, except to snub Terry’s handshake,” the Daily Star quoted a pal, as saying.

“His way of dealing with the whole affair is with a bit of humour,” the source added. (ANI)

Brit men having moob jobs on the rise

London, Sep 18 (ANI): It has emerged that more and more Brit men are having cosmetic surgery to get rid of their “moobs”.

According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), there has been a 44 per cent year-on-year rise in the number of men wanting to get rid of their ‘man boobs’.

The AGM of BAAPS in Cardiff heard that the procedure is now the fifth most popular cosmetic op for men, with more than 1,000 men forking out more than 2,000 pounds to get rid of their flabby breasts in the last 12 months.

Delegates were told over the past five years the numbers of men losing their moobs have shot up by an amazing 1,000 per cent.

“We are seeing men of all ages coming in to have their breasts made smaller,” the Sun quoted plastic surgeon Douglas McGeorge as saying.

“They are losing their inhibitions about the operation and deciding to undergo an operation which previously was a women’s operation,” he said.

McGeorge, who is based in Chester, revealed that a recent patient, who had never taken his shirt off, was typical of the men queuing up for the op.

“It was a grandfather who had never taken off his T-shirt in his life because he was so embarrassed about the size of his breasts,” he said.

“He had never been able to strip to the waist on the beach in front of his own children – but was determined not to be in the same position with his grandchildren,” he stated.

The moob jobs pushed out facelifts to become the fifth most popular plastic surgery for British men after nose jobs, eyelifts, ear corrections, and liposuction.

“Reasons for the upsurge include men being more open now about their physique than years ago,” plastic surgeon Fazel Fatah said.

“And they can get more and more information about it from internet sites which encourage them to have the op,” he added. (ANI)

The 19-year-old beauty was spotted wearing a simple white T-shirt, denim shorts, and trainers in her campus at Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island.

She apparently looked happy and relaxed under the sun as she chilled with her friends.

Watson also passed all her A-levels with straight A grades.

She even believes that going to university will make her a better actress.

“I actually think going to university will make me a better actress,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

She added: “It sounds so geeky, but I really do like studying and reading, and if I’m not working on Harry Potter, then my greatest relaxation is to sit with a book.”

Christian Audigier questions Posh’s sense of style

Washington, July 6 (ANI): French clothing guru Christian Audigier doesn’t find Victoria Beckham’s clothing line impressive.

In an interview to Bang Showbiz, Audigier said that Posh was in a difficult position as she had no formal training.

“Victoria, I’m not sure about. I like her, she’s a nice girl, but she is not completely my style,” Contactmusic quoted Audigier as saying.

“I have seen some of her designs – they are very simple. It’s difficult for an artist or a singer to enter into the world of fashion.

“They need to be with a real pro because you can’t just rely on your name to help you sell.

“The way to sell and who to sell to and what you want to accomplish, these are all things you will need help with if you’re entering into the world,” he added.

However, according to Audigier, Posh’s soccer star husband David has an amazing style.

“I believe David Beckham has amazing style, he has this British and European twist with him. And he always dresses himself, picks everything himself,” he said.

“He can wear so many things well, whether it is shirts, a T-shirt with boxer shorts, or alternatively the Armani advert he did recently – he just looks great. He has a great attitude, I just love it.

“He is a real tough guy with his style, very English, like a Guy Ritchie movie or something like that, I like that,” he added. (ANI)

Jacko’s pullover sells for œ36,000 on eBay

London, July 4 (ANI): A jumper from the days when late King of Pop Michael Jackson used to be a part of ‘Jackson 5′ has fetched a whopping 36,000 pounds on eBay.

Fans have been flocking the online auction site to bid for exclusive Jacko memorabilia.

A signed trademark black Fedora hat, which Jackson once gave to a backing dancer, was selling for 8,000 pounds on the website.

An official Neverland theme park T-shirt had raised 3,000 pounds, reports The Sun.

In fact, a torn-off piece of Jacko’s jacket sleeve thrown into the crowd at a 2006 Earl’s Court gig was priced at 23 pounds.

A rare Neverland ticket was going for 656 pounds, while a blank piece of park notepaper was up to 78 pounds.

Fans were snapping up tickets from old Jackson concerts, and stubs for the planned dates at London’s O2 arena were already going for more than 10 pounds. (ANI)

The skin cancer awareness T-shirt features a naked Beckham, who is discreetly hidden by the phrase “Protect the skin your in,” reports the New York Daily News.

Nernekian works for a brand manager for local agents of designer Marc Jacobs, who designed the shirts benefiting a cancer research program at New York University. (ANI)

Men, too, feel anxious to strip off on the beach

London, July 3 (ANI): It’s not just the women who worry about body image and are reluctant to bare it all, for men too feel uncool about stripping off, according to researchers.

The survey by Tescodiets.com revealed that almost 50 percent men worry about baring their stomachs on the beach.

In fact, one in three men have considered avoiding a beach holiday altogether because of how they look in their swimming trunks.

Seven in 10 men surveyed were worried about baring their bodies, 47 percent were most cautious about revealing their stomachs.

More than 2,000 men were questioned for the survey, out of which, almost 75 percent thought that British men get just as nervous as women, when it comes to slipping on the swimwear.

The boys resort to many tactics to cover up in the heat-nearly a quarter wear shorts or a T-shirt even in the sea, 40 percent diet and around one third strip off only when in the water.

Over three-quarters of men were jealous of toned, athletic men they spotted on the beach.

One third of men said that they were most worried about how they looked to the opposite sex, as compared to just 13 percent who worried about what other men would think.

“Every summer we hear plenty about women dreading having to wear a swimsuit but men clearly have many of the same issues,” Sky News quoted Catherine Ambrozewicz, head of Tescodiets.com, as saying. (ANI)
