Jennifer Aniston not interested in other stars’ lives

London, Sep 19 (ANI): Jennifer Aniston is livid over the public interest in her private life, as she herself doesn’t care what other stars are doing.

The ‘Friends’ star has vowed not to discuss her personal life, and is unhappy with the idea of strangers reading about her personal matters.

“I don’t know about your life. I don’t want to, truthfully. It’s not my business,” the Daily Express quoted her as having told Parade magazine.

“It’s a very strange thing, but somehow it’s like there was some clause somewhere that said, ‘Well, you’re a public person, so we get to go into your house and search through your drawers.’

“I don’t know who came up with it because I wouldn’t have signed on. I don’t think anybody would have,” she added. (ANI)

Robin Williams’ nude scene in World’s Greatest Dad shocks daughter

Washington, Sept 18 (ANI): Actor Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda was left embarrassed after seeing her father nude in his new movie ‘World’s Greatest Dad’.

The comedian plays teacher Lance Clayton, who turns his life around after suffering a terrible family tragedy.

In the film, Williams’ character suffers a mini-breakdown and strips off for a plunge into a school swimming pool.

“Actually it (the nude idea) was mine. I thought, ‘It’s at the end of the movie, where this guy is having a catharsis… he’s getting rid of everything, why not go (nude),” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“I dive into a pool and, coming up (to the surface), it’s almost like a rebirth. It’s a strange thing and, in a weird way, it worked,” he added.

However, Williams failed to warn her 20-year-old daughter about the scene, who was left stunned at the recent premiere of the film.

“My daughter was at the premiere. She came up and said, ‘Thanks for telling me, dad.’ She’s 20 now and she was like, ‘Thanks for giving me a heads up about the nude scene!’” he added.

Williams says he can understand how horrifying it must have been for her – because he’d react with horror if she ever stripped off for a film.

He said, “I think I’d be like, ‘Stop! Turn that off!’ That’s when hypocrisy comes up and goes, ‘Payback’s a b**ch!’” (ANI)

White hopeful of ODI series ‘whitewash’ against England

London, Sep 12(ANI): Australian all-rounder Cameron White reckons that Australia can finish their Ashes-losing England tour with a flourish by defeating their arch rivals seven-nil in the on-going ODI series.

Australia lost the five-Test campaign 2-1, but they are leading 3-0 in the seven match ODI series.

“At the moment if we keep playing good, consistent cricket, keep bowling and fielding well, there is no reason why not,” The Daily Telegraph quoted White, as saying.

“In saying that, winning seven one-dayers against a really good side is a pretty strange thing to happen. But, I am not saying that it can’t. We want to keep the momentum going and I don’t think we are playing at our total best right now,” he added.

White further said that Australian team still has some areas where they needed to improve and also emphasised that they cant write-off the England squad, as they will bounce back at some stage.

“There are still probably some areas that we think we can improve in, so there are things we need to work on to get better for these four games. Then, come four games’ time, we are hopefully at our peak,” White said.

Meanwhile, Australia captain Ricky Ponting would comeback to join the squad after his post-Ashes break. (ANI)

Reeves seeks court dismissal of Canadian woman’s claims he’s her children’s father

Washington, Jul 8 (ANI): Actor Keanu Reeves is said to have sought a court dismissal of a Canadian woman’s allegations he is the father of her four grown children.

Karen Sala, 46, who is seeking millions in spousal and child support from Reeves, 44, came face to face with the Speed star’s attorney Lorne Wolfson for a brief appearance in a family court in Toronto, Canada on July 6.

Wolfson denied his client had a relationship with the woman, and later told reporters outside the court he is urging authorities to quickly dismiss the case.

“His (Reeves’) position is that he’s not the father of these children, never had a relationship with them, never lived with Ms Sala and that the application has absolutely no merits. It’s totally frivolous,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“This case should be dismissed at the earliest opportunity,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sala has maintained that she is telling the truth, telling journalists the Hollywood actor has been in contact with her over the last three decades.

“He (Reeves) doesn’t stay away, he constantly comes and checks up and everything. It’ll come out. The truth is a strange thing and sometimes no one’s prepared for it… It will come out. You have to have faith,” she stated.

Sala filed suit against Reeves in May this year, seeking a DNA test to prove he fathered her children. (ANI)

Interim Budget receives mixed reactions among common masses

New Delhi, Feb 16 (ANI): The Interim Budget 2009-10, as proposed by Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Monday, drew a mixed response among the common masses.

A housewife Malti Alhuwalia said that such a budget is presented just to fetch votes and would not benefit the common man in any way.

“It has made no difference to us. It is only to fetch votes. They say that the budget is extremely good. But for the common people like us, it has made no difference at all in any way, which is true,” Alhuwalia said.

The shopkeepers said they were extremely disappointed as it was very difficult to survive the recession without any budget sops.

The owner of an electronic shop Rajeev Sharma said, “Inflation rate should be low. Every time we hear that budget would be good for common man. But have never been so. Day by day we feel that things would get cheaper and inflation will come down but things for common man are getting difficult.”

An electronics good shop owner in Kolkata, Abhijeet Sen, said, “We are dissatisfied with this budget. We had expected some rebate in terms of income tax and excise duty. But besides textile industry nothing has happened. We were expecting at least five per cent discount in income tax and excise duty.”

Mumbai’s Mohammad Ali felt the Congress government is trying to fool the aam aadmi and said, “Common man will not be benefited at all. Budget has been presented during the time of recession, that itself is a strange thing. I heard that they said they would generate 10.2 jobs within a year, which is impossible. I think government is just trying to fool public.”

Some people, however, were happy for government’s new schemes, which would benefit a huge mass in the country.

A travel agent J. K. Virk said, “I feel happy that adequate resources for the Commonwealth Games in 2010 have been assured which will result in the successful conduct of the Games. The Games will draw tourists from across the globe, which will result in the raking in of foreign exchange that will help the economy of the country.”

A social activist Radhika cheered for the budget, saying Indira Gandhi national widow pension scheme will provide pension of Rs. 400 whereas young widows will be given priority in ITIs. (ANI)

Adebayor ‘s `football miracle’ at four that allowed him to walk!

London, Feb.3 (ANI): Football star Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed he could not walk till he was four, and managed to do so after experiencing a miracle during his childhood.

The Arsenal and Togo striker is currently regarded as one of the finest athletes in the game.

Yet, as a young boy, his mother, Alice, feared he would never even walk, and she carried her son all across Africa in search of a cure.
“My mum took me to Nigeria, Lagos, Ghana and all the villages in Africa but nothing happened. It got to the stage where they took me to a church and told my mum they’d pray for me for a week. They said that, if I did not walk by the end of that week, it meant I would never walk. It was a strange thing to say and you can understand why Mum was crying. They started praying at midnight on the Sunday. All the week, I’m not walking. By Saturday midnight my mum was all over the place, crying. For her, it was all over,” Adebayor recalls.

“Anyway, I was in the church laying down and, around nine or ten o’clock on the Sunday morning, I could hear children playing outside. Suddenly somebody kicked a ball into the church. And the first person to stand up and run was me, because I wanted to get that ball. My mum was afraid because she had never even seen me walking and suddenly I was running after a ball,” he told the Sun.

“And all the people in the church who had been praying for me told my mum, ‘Your son is walking because of football. It must mean the boy has football in his blood.’

“It’s an amazing story. But it is true. My mum has told me about it all my life.” (ANI)
