Banderas says his ‘Shrek’ spin-off will have Tarantino feel to it

London, May 19 (ANI): Spanish actor Antonio Banderas has revealed that his ‘Shrek’ spin-off ‘Puss In Boots’ will have a Quentin Tarantino feel to it.

Banderas, 49, was at the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Shrek Forever After’, when he explained what can be expected from his character’s own animated adventure when it hits cinemas in 2011.

“The movie is slightly different because actually they’re taking more of the imagery of movies in the 60s, like spaghetti westerns and stuff like that,” the Mirror quoted him as saying.

“It’s going to be kind of a Tarantino animation.

“I think we’ll have more time to squeeze the character and to see him in a totally different way.

“I actually have the script. He’s a little kid, he’s in an orphanage at the beginning and you’re going to see why he became an ogre killer,” he added. (ANI)

Antonio Banderas makes debut as pro snapper

London, May 14 (ANI): Antonio Banderas is now trying to make his mark as a professional photographer – the Spanish actor recently unveiled a collection of his photos in New York.

Banderas, 49, has been snapping pics for years, but he decided to go public with his photos only after the suggestion was made during discussions for the promotion of his new men”s fragrance, The Secret.

Bosses at perfume house PUIG convinced Banderas to go public with his photos, which show varying aspects of Spanish culture and emphasise women”s powers of seduction.

And finally Banderas launched the Secrets on Black collection at Instituto Cervantes in Manhattan earlier this week, reports the Daily Express.

The proceeds from the sale of the snaps, which are currently up for grabs, will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a cause Banderas has been championing for the last five years.

The travelling Secrets on Black exhibition will be displayed in galleries across the globe throughout 2010. (ANI)

Antonio Banderas confirms Shrek spin-off

London, Apr 21 (ANI): Antonio Banderas has confirmed that he will be voicing for a Shrek spin-off movie which will follow his character Puss In Boots.

In the animated ogre franchise, the Spanish actor voices the mischievous cat.

And Banderas has already started working on a new film based on the role, alongside Salma Hayek and Zach Galifianakis.

The actor will be reprising the role in the upcoming fourth and final Shrek film, ‘Shrek Forever After’ and has revealed that the upcoming project will be based on Puss In Boots” childhood.

“I already did the first recordings and it”s going to be called Puss In Boots – it starts when he was very little. He was in an orphanage when he first discovered the effect he has on people – that”s when he starts being intelligent,” The Daily Express quoted him as saying.

And Banderas is happy that he can use his natural accent at work.

“When I got to the United States – I was 30 at the time – I didn”t speak the language at all. The fact they gave me a character for the use of my voice only was quite surprising, but I suppose I have such an accent that is so recognisable that they thought it was perfect. Because I had been playing characters that were bigger than life, heroic, stuff like that, putting it into a tiny body of a pussy cat was fun,” he said. (ANI)

Antonio Banderas becomes UN goodwill ambassador

The UN Development Program has named Spanish actor Antonio Banderas as a goodwill ambassador for the global fight against poverty.

The UNDP says Banderas will use his celebrity status to draw attention to the Millennium Development Goals – a set of targets aimed at halving world poverty by 2015 by combating hunger, disease, illiteracy, pollution and discrimination against women.

“Poverty robs us of our potential as a people, preventing us from being all that we can be,” Banderas said in a statement.

“This is why it is so important to mobilise all of our efforts to defeat it.”

UNDP chief Helen Clark says Banderas’ “proven commitment to the causes of the less fortunate makes him an ideal advocate for our work.”

Other UNDP goodwill ambassadors include tennis star Maria Sharapova, Japanese actress Misako Kono and Crown Prince Haakon Magnus of Norway.
