Hitler’s Berlin bunker: unseen pictures revealed

London, May 5 (ANI): After more than six decades since the end of Adolf Hitler’s regime in a Berlin bunker, many unpublished photographs of the underground lair have been revealed to the public.

These pictures, published by mirror.co.uk, capture the incredible drama of the Second World War’s final act, when Russian shells bombed the city to rubble.

While one picture shows the command centre after it had been burned by retreating German troops and then looted by Russians, another is that of American journalists examining the bloodstained sofa where Hitler shot himself after Braun took poison.

Life magazine’s William Vandivert took these photographs. (ANI)

Women better than men at DIY jobs

London, May 3 (ANI): If a new research is to be believed, then women are now increasingly taking over the conventional male role of doing ”do it yourself” jobs around the home.

Sales of hand tools and decorating material to women have gone up. This is simply because women are tired of waiting for their other halves to fix things. They would rather help themselves than wait.

A study by Tesco concluded that out of every 3 women, 2 (60 per cent) are now shopping for DIY items – three times as many as a decade ago (20 per cent).

“It is now a case of I know a woman who can, as more and more women pick up a screwdriver,” the Telegraph quoted Fabio Perrotta, manager of Tesco hardware, as saying.

Spokeswoman Gail McGibbon, added: “In the last 12 months sales of pink ladies garden secateurs, pink handled trowels, pink garden gloves and pink kneeler pads are up as much as 170 per cent.

“The trend shows women are doing an increasing number of small jobs around the garden because they are fed of waiting for their other halves to get off the sofa.” (ANI)

Body lay undiscovered under sofa in Bristol flat for 10 years! Body lay undiscovered under sofa in Bristol flat for 10 years!

London, April 21 (ANI): According to an enquiry, a body lay undiscovered beneath a sofa in a flat in Bristol for almost 10 years.

The deceased, 73-year-old Denis Pring, had been living with a city council tenant Alan Derrick, who has learning difficulties.

Fearing that the police would take him away, Derrick did not report to the authorities about the death.

The medical examiner registered an open judgment into the death of Pring at the court’s hearing in Flax Bourton, near Bristol.

Pring, who is assumed to have died between April and June 1998, was a former warehouseman. According to the inquiry, he had been living illegally in the flat, reports The Telegraph.

He died when Derrick had invited him to stay at his place because he had no other shelter. But Derrick panicked due to his sudden death.

He then hid the body with cushions and two armchairs and kept living in the same flat in Bedminster, Bristol for the coming ten years.

Council officers visited Derrick’s house twice when neighbours complained of foul smell but Pring’s body was never found. They believed that the foul smell came from the toilet.

His skeleton was found in January 2008 when cleaners were sent to Derrick’s house after he was forced out of the house on the orders of a county court.

Jon House, Deputy Chief Executive of the council said, “more active intervention nine or 10 years ago”, and a ” healthier dose of common sense”, might have led to Pring”s body being found earlier.

“I apologise unreservedly both to Mr Pring”s family and to the residents of neighbouring homes for the distress they have endured,” House added. (ANI)

Loved-up Brits prefer cuddle to sex!

More than half of British people in a relationship are more interested in a kiss and a cuddle on the sofa than passion between the sheets, a new research has shown.

The poll of 1,000 Britons, commissioned by healthcare giant Bayer, also showed it is men who are more than happy to smooch on a sofa rather than romp in the bedroom.

In the survey, sex was also judged to be less important to a successful relationship than commitment, companionship and a sense of humour.

Researchers of the study even blame the rise of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter for making people less intimate with each other.

The majority cited stress, tiredness and arguments as the main obstacles to intimacy with their partner.

“Lack of intimacy can endanger any relationship,” the Daily Express quoted Christine Webber, a sex and relationships expert, as saying.

Mercedes GP chief backs Schumacher despite flop comeback

London, Apr 1(ANI): Seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher has been given a vote of confidence by his Mercedes Grand Prix team chief Norbert Haug despite a nightmare start to his comeback.

Schumacher finished sixth and 10th in his first two races in Bahrain and Australia after three years out of the sport, and has also been outraced by team-mate Nico Rosberg.

However, Haug insisted: “Michael is as good as ever. He has got it still.”

“He could sit on his sofa saying, ”Nobody won more than I did” – but this is his passion. But he is a more relaxed guy than ever, he has fun, he is a very good team member, team player,” The Sun quoted Haug, as saying.

Haug further said that Schumacher is back in the F1 to be competitive, and reiterated his claims that Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso was blocking the German in qualifying last Saturday.

“If you look at the times, if you look at qualifying, Michael was handicapped behind Alonso. It is fair to say it was a very comparable lap to Nico, who I think is one of the highest-rated guys of the current generation, with four years” experience,” Haug said.

“We have one of the strongest driver pairings in the field. It is up to us to improve the package further. It is fair to say we improved it on this track compared to Bahrain,” he added. (ANI)

Lithuanian fined for attacking female cop with his willy!

London, March 17 (ANI): Marium Varinauskas, a Lithuanian, has been fined 600 pounds for assaulting a female police officer with his genitals.

The Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told the 28-year-old tried to strike the female cop, who cannot be named for legal reasons, on her head after she was called out to a disturbance at his apartment on November 15, 2009.

According to prosecutors, the Grampian Police constable just escaped being hit in the face.

Varinauskas was about to be tried for assault but he pleaded guilty to the charge.

He, however, denied using offensive and sexual remarks, which was accepted by prosecutors.

His girlfriend had called in the police to his Tillydrone home complaining he was wild and drunk.

When cops arrived on the scene they saw the self-employed engineer sitting on the sofa in just a pair of underpants, the court heard.

“The accused got to his feet and was standing over the police officer exposing (himself) …. forcing her to take evasive action to avoid getting struck,” the Telegraph quoted fiscal depute Elaine Lynch, prosecuting, as telling the court.

The court was told Varinauskas had been drinking “very heavily” and his girlfriend wanted him to leave the house.

Officers arrested Varinauskas and he was taken away while he was still in his underwear.

John Hardie, defending, said: “He can”t remember anything but accepts that if that”s what the police say then that”s what happened.

“He has never been so drunk before that day and accepts he has to take full responsibility.

“He apologises profusely and is extremely embarrassed.”

Talking after the attack, Varinauskas said: “I had too much to drink and don”t remember anything.

“I was going to bed and was just wearing my pants.

“I feel quite bad about it all but it”s difficult to say anything because I don”t remember.”

Sheriff Annella Cowan was told Varinauskas had quit binge drinking after the incident. (ANI)

Britons spend 1 month of their lives looking for TV remote!

London, Sept 18 (ANI): Britons waste one month of their lives searching for the television remote control, a new study has found.

After studying 4,000 individuals, the researchers found that the average viewer loses it an average of 3.2 times a week and spends more than four minutes looking for it each time, reports The Scotsman.

That means each week Brits spend 15 minutes hunting for the device.

Kathryn Drought, of Sky, who led the study to launch the broadcaster’s Free Weekend Pass, said: “The remote control is such a well-used item in the nation’s homes.

“It’s one of those things we’re forever trying to find – normally down the back of the sofa.

“TV plays such a big part in our lives. It’s not surprising who is in control of the remote is such a hot household topic.”

Three in ten volunteers admitted hiding the remote from a partner or housemate, and 17 per cent have thrown it at someone in a fit of “remote rage”, the study found. (ANI)

Sasha snapped spying ‘Kennedy-style’ on Obama at Oval Office!

London, Sep 3 (ANI): US President Barack Obama and his daughter Sasha have been captured on camera in what is said to be an unusual yet oddly familiar pose at the Oval Office in the White House.

The picture, taken by White House photographer Peter Souza, whose brief is to document the Obama presidency, shows eight-year-old Sasha spying on her father from behind a sofa, as he looks through his papers, reports the Telegraph.

But despite the picture giving a spontaneous feel, it also evoked comparisons with famous pictures of a three-year-old John F Kennedy Jr playing under the same desk as his father sat working at it.

The photographs were taken a month before President Kennedy’s assassination in November 1963.

The boy would often play under the desk, which had been presented by Queen Victoria to President Rutherford Hayes, and liked to pretend that its kneehole panel was a secret door. (ANI)

Jacko’s ‘happy family’ pics with Debbie Rowe may swing custody battle

London, July 5 (ANI): The astonishing new pictures showing Michael Jackson’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe affectionately hugging and cuddling their two kids Prince and baby Paris can dramatically turn around the custody battle.

The ‘happy family’ pictures could challenge the claims depicting her as the disaffectionate surrogate and rattle reports that she never even visited the children.

Former nurse Rowe was earlier reported to have said that she wants her kids back, however, her lawyer said she still hasn’t taken the final decision yet.

The photos – taken in a suite at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills about two weeks after Paris was born in April, 1998 – capture the first moment Rowe held her daughter for the very first time.

According to the photographer, Jacko had taken the tot away from the hospital moments after Rowe gave birth.

“Debbie couldn’t wait to cradle Paris in her arms and Michael was happy to let her,” the News of the World quoted the photographer as saying.

“It wasn’t like he was giving her instructions and a list of what she could and couldn’t do. Debbie was a natural mum from the off. She was talking to the baby saying stuff like, ‘Hello Paris. I’m your mom!’

“In fact, she didn’t want to put the little thing down, holding her as she was walking around the room and sitting down with her on a sofa. She wasn’t just holding her for the photographs.

“At one point she was gently rocking Paris in her arms and humming a lullaby to her. It was a very special mother-and-baby moment. Paris was asleep in her mother’s arms and looked very contented.

“It was obvious that Debbie loved her children and there was a strong connection between them. It looked like she was treasuring every second, laughing, kissing and playing with them for about two hours.

A second similar set of photographs was taken a few weeks later when Debbie visited her children at his Neverland ranch.

“Debbie was just as happy and relaxed at the second photoshoot. People may think she was an emotionally cold and uncaring woman to be able to walk away from her children.

“But if you saw her with them you’d realise there was much more to it than that,” the photographer added. (ANI)

Almost 40pct Oz family dinners end up in rifts

Melbourne, July 2 (ANI): For many, having dinner with the family is spending quality time with their loved ones, but a survey of Aussie mothers has revealed that over 40 percent of sit-down meals end in arguments, acrimony and tears.

In the survey, 16,579 Australian mums were asked what they normally did during dinner, 26.22 per cent said that they discussed the day’s events or talked about topical issues, while 15.59 per cent quietly watched TV.

The latest Voice of Aussie Mums survey conducted for Nestle found that almost eight per cent (7.74 per cent) of mums said that they told stories.

However, for 40.45 per cent of families, dinner is an unpleasant experience, with the meal usually ending in an argument.

But, despite the friction, former netball champion and Nestle spokeswoman Liz Ellis has said that families should make efforts and try to eat together at the dinner table.

“Our fast paced lives leave us little time to communicate as a family,” the Courier Mail quoted Ellis as saying in a statement.
She added: “Eating dinner together regularly can be a fantastic source of quality time and a way to keep the family in contact during a hectic week. “

While over 76 per cent of mums said that sit-down meals strengthened their family’s communication, 47.28 per cent believed that it helped foster family traditions.

A total of 61.84 per cent said that they usually ate dinner at the dining room table, 17.85 per cent in front of the TV, and 15.41 per cent at the kitchen bench or table.

A small percentage, 4.9 per cent, eat on a sofa, reading the news or in other informal ways. (ANI)

Ronaldo finds American women much better looking

London, June 20 (ANI): Two beauties, who did dirty dancing for Christiano Ronaldo on his US holiday recently, reveal that the soccer ace has told them that American girls are much better looking.

Allison Aimee, 26, and Suzanne Coppin, 32, flirted with the footie ace in his hotel bar as they dirty danced for him, while showing off their bikini bodies.

The duo later went back to his room – and left at 4am as he was snogging a third girl on the sofa.

“I can see why he’s been such a hit with the American girls,” the Sun quoted Suzanne as saying.

“Sometimes he acts like an innocent little boy. On our way to his bedroom he called his sister for a chat which was so cute. But he knows when to be manly too. He’s got such an amazing body and clearly felt the same about us,” she said.

She added: “He told us he loves going on holiday to America – because the women are much better looking.”

Ronaldo was preparing to leave the US yesterday after charming a string of beauties, including heiress Paris Hilton, 28, on a two-week break to LA and Las Vegas.

Murray does not like to flash his cash

London, May 21 (ANI): Andy Murray, the world’s third best tennis player, does not like to flash with his cash.

He always flies economy, only taking business class – not first – when he needs to sleep on a long-haul flight.

“I feel like I am lucky but I also feel I have earned it. I appreciate all of that stuff. It’s not normal to me. I know that if I work hard I get more opportunities. I have had the same friends since I was 15 and moved to Barcelona. I’ve had the same girlfriend for four years and I always stay close to my family. I don’t think I’ve changed a lot,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.

“I think it is so nice to have my own place. I lived in a dorm when I was 15 to 17 then I shared a room in Spain. After that I spent two years staying in my coach’s attic in Wimbledon. I have a nice big TV, a comfy sofa, a Pacman arcade machine with all the old-school games on it, a pool table, PlayStation and dartboard. My flat’s quite blokey,” he added. (ANI)
