Antonio Banderas makes debut as pro snapper

London, May 14 (ANI): Antonio Banderas is now trying to make his mark as a professional photographer – the Spanish actor recently unveiled a collection of his photos in New York.

Banderas, 49, has been snapping pics for years, but he decided to go public with his photos only after the suggestion was made during discussions for the promotion of his new men”s fragrance, The Secret.

Bosses at perfume house PUIG convinced Banderas to go public with his photos, which show varying aspects of Spanish culture and emphasise women”s powers of seduction.

And finally Banderas launched the Secrets on Black collection at Instituto Cervantes in Manhattan earlier this week, reports the Daily Express.

The proceeds from the sale of the snaps, which are currently up for grabs, will benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a cause Banderas has been championing for the last five years.

The travelling Secrets on Black exhibition will be displayed in galleries across the globe throughout 2010. (ANI)

Lindsay Lohan hit with fashion line lawsuit

London, May 3 (ANI): Lindsay Lohan is in trouble yet again – the actress is facing a lawsuit from a photographer who has alleged that he hasn’t been paid for the pictures he took for her fashion line.

As per the papers filed by Snapper Scott Nathan, the photographer claims that he was hired to take photographs of the ‘Mean Girls’ star for her clothing label 6126.

In the papers, obtained by TMZ.com, Nathan also alleged that he had not received the one per cent interest that was promised to him by the fashion line in return for the pictures, reports the Daily Star.

The photographer is also suing Universal Music Group for using one of his photographs for the cover of Lohan’s single ‘Bossy’. (ANI)

Unseen Beatles photos go on display

London, April 28 (ANI): A collection of unseen photos of The Beatles just before they rose to fame is to go on display.

The 37 shots of the Fab Four on a tour with Helen Shapiro in 1963 were unearthed after languishing in an attic for almost 50 years.

Photographer/journalist Paul Berriff discovered the pics at his home in north England.

“I started to root around in my attic and I found this box of about 800 negs (negatives), and in it were shots of these old pop groups in ”63. I was absolutely knocked out when I saw the quality and realised I should do something with them,” the Daily Express quoted Berriff as saying.

Berriff took the pics after the boy band gave him unlimited access on tour when he was a teenage snapper – just months before Beatlemania gripped the world.

The photog had stored the negatives at his home, along with hundreds of other images of musicians in the 1960s.

The photos, which chronicle the band members rehearsing onstage, smoking in their dressing room, and relaxing with drinks and snacks backstage, will go on display at London”s Menier Gallery on Apr 28, (10). (ANI)

James had recently run into TV-paparazzo snapper Ulises Rios near his home in Long Beach, California.

Both the men were taken under citizen”s arrests, reports The Daily Star.

Rios had accused James of vandalising his car during the fight. James was booked for vandalism, but no charges were made against him.

Police surprise-checked Rios house in April and seized several videotapes and photographs.

But according to TMZ.com, police officials have decided to hold the investigation until James is released from a rehabilitation centre in May. (ANI)

Snapper convinced he photographed UFO over St Paul’s Cathedral

London, Sep 18 (ANI): A Brit amateur photographer, who was taking photographs for a competition, is convinced that he has snapped a UFO flying over St Paul’s Cathedral.

Tim Letten, 43, from Essex, was taking a picture of the famous London landmark, when the mysterious orb was captured along in the photo.

He, however, did not think much of the object until he uploaded his photos on his home computer.

“I was taking pictures along the river for a competition and captured a picture of an object flying across the sky which I thought was an aeroplane,” the Sun quoted him as saying.

“When I got home I put it on my computer, zoomed in and thought ‘It must be a UFO!’

“Looking at that, if anyone doesn’t believe, they must be mad!” the excited designer added. (ANI)

Jude Law not to face action over ‘female snapper assault’

London, September 16 (ANI): Actor Jude Law is set to face no further action over allegations that he lashed out at a female snapper outside a restaurant in London.

The ‘Alfie’ star was accused of assaulting photographer Harsha Gopal in July, a claim denied by the star and his lawyer.

The Crown Prosecution Service said Law “had no intention to assault anyone”.

“The Crown Prosecution Service has decided to take no further action against the actor Jude Law following an allegation of assault outside Automat restaurant in central London on July 23,” the Telegraph quoted a spokesman as saying.

“A careful analysis of the specific evidence in this case, which included photographs and eye witness statements, indicates that Mr Law had no intention to assault anyone.

“While Mr Law accepted that he may have come into contact with someone whilst attempting to make his way to his car, it is highly likely that a court would decide his actions were reasonable given that his path was deliberately impeded by a crowd of photographers.

“Accordingly, there is insufficient evidence to charge him with any offence,” the spokesman added. (ANI)

Colin Farrell’s bust-up with photog over sis

London, Sep 14 (ANI): Irish actor Colin Farrell reportedly became very furious with a photographer at the premiere of his new movie ‘Triage’ after the latter shooed his sister off the red carpet.

Farrell, 33, was at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada on September 12 with his sister and personal assistant Claudine when the incident took place.

The snapper had asked Farrell’s sister to step away from his side so that he can get a clear shot, but the actor became infuriated with the suggestion and confronted the photographer.

“I was just saying, ‘Please can everyone clear the carpet, move on’. He took it personal. He said, ‘Do not shout at my sister like that, do not ever speak to my sister like that ever’,” the Daily Express quoted Joe Alvarez as saying. (ANI)

No charges against Jay-Z, Beyonce’s bodyguard in snapper scuffle case

Washington, Aug 21 (ANI): All charges against Beyonce’s beau Jay-Z and her bodyguard have been dropped after the latter was allegedly charged with threatening the paparazzi.

The couple is currently holidaying in Dubrovnik, Croatia and the bodyguard was involved in a tussle with snappers when they tried to click them.

The charges were dropped after a review of the footage of the incident.

The video shows the bodyguard Julius, blocking off photographers in an alleyway as the couple walks out of a restaurant. Jay-Z is heard shouting, “Let’s go, let’s go, don’t worry about it” and “stop stop stop,” reports Contactmusic.

Three snappers claimed that Julius threatened them, manhandled them and damaged their property, none of which is seen in the video.

The bodyguard will not face any legal action after the local authorities investigating the claims declared him clean, according to TMZ.com.

However, he will be fined an undisclosed sum. (ANI)

Why New York is the ‘The Naked City’

New York, Aug 20 (ANI): New Yorkers need not visit a strip club, as photographer Zach Hyman snaps nude babes on the streets and trains in the city.

Passengers on the L train were flabbergasted when actress Jocelyn Saldana stripped for a shoot.

The hottie went nude for thirty seconds while the controversial snapper clicked her pics for his portrait series of naked New Yorkers.

Also, Alex Reisner, a 20-year-old Columbia student, stripped for him in Chinatown.

“Photographing females in public is easier than males. People see a naked woman and they smile. They see a penis and they freak out,” the New York Post quoted him as saying.

He said: “In Times Square, there are cops everywhere. It seemed that always right before or after the shoot, a cop car would roll by. Thankfully, we never needed bail money. But I have a clean record, so I’m open to the experience of getting arrested.

“We all have these parts-it’s one of the unifying aspects of being human.” (ANI)

Jackson’s ‘secret girlfriend was his kids’ former nanny’

London, July 5 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s long-standing secret girlfriend was Grace Rwaramba, the former nanny of his children, according to the late singer’s personal photographer.

Ian Barkley, who trotted the globe with the star for three years as his snapper, made the astonishing revelation.

Ian said that the duo’s relationship was known to the staff while Grace looked after the King of Pop’s three children Prince Michael, 12, Paris Katherine, 11 and six-year-old Prince Michael II.

“Grace loved Michael and he loved her. The kids called her ‘Mom’,” the Mirror quoted him as saying.

Jackson’s bodyguard Matt Fiddes recently revealed that the icon had a secret girlfriend though he declined to identify her.

Another of the artist’s bodyguards said: “Matt was referring to Grace. They were more like a married couple than employer and employee.”

The minder added: “Grace was the closest person to Michael and the kids. She will be broken-hearted. The children were always their joint priority and like any couple they’d row if they disagreed about how they were being brought up.

“But the difference between Grace and other women in Michael’s life was that she had absolutely no interest in fame. It was something she actively avoided and Michael was determined to keep her and their relationship out of the public gaze.

“The romance was well-known among staff but it was made very clear to them that this was not something that should become part of the public domain.” (ANI)

Jackson’s ‘macabre’ sense of humour depicted in bizarre photos

London, July 5 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s ‘macabre’ sense of humour has been put on display in a series of bizarre photos published by a British newspaper.

News of the World has published photos of the King of Pop including one snap showing the late star playing dead in a coffin at the famous Madame Tussaud’s waxwork museum in London.

The music legend can be seen slipping into an empty wooden coffin in one of the images in Tussaud’s Chamber Of Horrors between waxwork models of evil women responsible for murders.he photographs were said to be the work of British snapper Tony Prime when the Jackson 5 visited the UK in 1979.

A pal of the photographer said: “Jackson was fascinated by anything weird. He absolutely loved it. When he saw the coffins he just leapt over the barrier and got in the empty one.”

Other never seen before pictures also include Jackson dressed as his favourite comic Charlie Chaplin, with black bowler hat and cane, during a UK visit when he was 21.

The snapper’s pal added: “Jackson was fascinated by the life of Chaplin and wanted to know all he could about where the comic grew up.

“Tony told him he would take him for a drive around and point out various places related to Chaplin. Then all of a sudden Jackson said he wanted to get dressed up as Chaplin so they took him out and bought him the clothes and a cane.”

Jackson was due to kick-start his much-awaited comeback tour at London’s O2 Arena this month.

He died aged 50 on June 25 from an apparent cardiac arrest. (ANI)

Jacko ‘child-proofed’ hotel rooms with cardboard boxes fearing kids’ safety

London, July 4 (ANI): Michael Jackson was so obsessed about the safety of his children that he “child-proofed” hotel rooms with cardboard boxes, and inspected every meal before letting them to eat, according to the late star’s former personal photographer.

Snapper Ian Barkley said that the singer insisted on taking his three children, Prince Michael Jr., 12, Paris Michael Katherine, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II, known as ‘Blanket, with him while he trotted the globe.

But the King of Pop allegedly ensured every hotel he stayed at was made super-safe so that the chances of his kids falling ill or injuring themselves were lessened as much as possible.

The ‘Thriller’ hitmaker was also said to be obsessed with making sure the youngsters took healthy meals.

“His kids totally love their dad and he was extremely protective over them. Even when we were just around his staff, he was protective,” the Daily Express quoted Barkley as having told Eonline.com.

“We would baby-proof everywhere, like really expensive suites. They would tape up every corner with cardboard and make sure the kids couldn’t hurt themselves, and they were very strict on what the kids would eat to make sure they didn’t have allergies. To some it was odd, but under the circumstances it was understandable,” he added. (ANI)

Chris Brown faces lawsuit for assault, battery on photog

Washington, May 28 (ANI): Chris Brown is being taken to court by a photographer who alleges the musician’s involvement in a violent incident.

Robert Rosen has filed a lawsuit against the singer and a L.A. Fitness gym for assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment in March.

According to TMZ.com, the snapper claimed he had been “shook with incredible force” for trying to take pictures of the 20-year-old star while he was playing basketball at the gym’s court, reports Us magazine.

Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos, however, has slammed the claims, casting doubt on the intentions of Rosen, who had previously sued Pierce Brosnan in late 2007 and lost the case after alleging physical harm by the actor.

Geragos said: “This is a specious and frivolous lawsuit by one of the paparazzi seeking publicity and a payday. [Rosen] has done this before and lost. We will vigorously defend against this.”

Brown was previously taken into custody for allegedly beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna in February.

He pleaded not guilty at his April arraignment and is due to appear in court. (ANI)

What tourist cliche are you: Boozer, linguist, snapper or whinger?

Sydney, May 20 (ANI): Boozer, linguist, snapper, guidebook-these are just some types of tourist cliches that are found roaming around the world looking for some specific things on their voyages.

There are always certain types of travellers who share similar habits, whether good, boring, or highly annoying, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

Here are some of the typical tourist cliches that one may encounter at one vacation or other:

The Boozer

Boozers don’t mind which country they travel to, as long as the beer’s cheap and there are bars playing live football matches. They don’t look for temples, cathedrals, or beautiful mornings, and still manage to have a ball.

The Vegetarian

Also known as The Fussy Eaters, vegetarians spend their time aimlessly wandering around looking for appropriate food, and then whining at the lack of it.

The Box-Tickerox-tickers have a list of traveling priorities, and they’re going about the business of ticking them off and stick to cities that have a world-famous monument or attraction.

The Strung-Out Hippy

Often found at places with cheap, accessible drugs and some sort of coastline (Bali, Peru, Mexico, Colombia etc), these hippies could be seen wandering around in a daze, all stringy arms and weathered skin poking out of tie-dyed clothes.

The Linguist

Linguists run around town clutching their phrasebook, and are convinced they’re slowly mastering the local lingo.

The Muso

They usually travel with a bulky acoustic guitar and would whip the instrument at the slightest provocation and start strumming crappy Jack Johnson covers in the hope of impressing impressionable girls. Often wear beaded jewellery and could be easily spotted in Thailand.

The Guidebook

The Guidebook will stick to each and every word written in ‘Lonely Planet’, will also refuse to eat anywhere that’s not in the book, and will sometimes tick off items on the pages so they know which ones they’re yet to visit. They could be spotted anywhere in Western Europe.

The Snapper

They’ll be sporting a camera lens that looks like the Hubble telescope, and will be permanently hidden behind it.

The Tight-Arse

Everyone’s traveled with a tight-arse and even been one at some point. When you’re living on cereal and two-minute noodles, smuggling half bottles of spirits into pubs to mix into your Coke, and spending four hours on a bus to avoid a 10 dollars cab ride, it’s safe to say you’re a genuine tight-wad.

The Whinger

They always complain, and their complaints include-the hostel’s dirty; the people are unfriendly; it’s too hot outside; it’s too cold outside; this food is gross; I’m hungry; I’m thirsty; everything’s too expensive; I’m lost; I’m tired. Such people usually make you wonder why did they leave their house in the first place. (ANI)

Stephan Elliott unintentionally urinated on photog while filming Easy Virtue

Washington, May 8 (ANI): Australian film director Stephan Elliott has revealed how he inadvertently urinated on a snapper stalking Jessica Biel on the set of his English period comedy ‘Easy Virtue’.

He recalled that his crew was filming in a Nottinghamshire field, miles from the nearest restroom, at the time.

“We were shooting with Jessica and it would just have been so much of a hassle to walk all the way back to the loo, so I apologised to the cast and crew, made my excuses and wandered towards a nearby bush,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“I was relieving myself and I looked down and I realised I was p**sing on a photographer.

“Fortunately, he was too flustered and embarrassed to take a shot,” he added.

Elliott even admitted that he would never want to swap places with Biel or her boyfriend Justin Timberlake, who visited the set on a couple of occasions.

He said that he just couldn’t deal with their level of fame.

“We had paparazzi everywhere. These guys can’t even fart without a camera being there. And there’s not a lot you can do about it,” he added. (ANI)

Paparazzo denies sparking Madge’s riding accident

Washington, April 20 (ANI): The photographer accused of sparking Madonna’s riding accident has denied the claims, saying he was not clicking pictures when the incident happened.

The Queen of Pop was rushed to a hospital in New York with minor injuries and bruises after she fell off her horse while riding in the Hamptons on April 18.

Her publicist Liz Rosenberg held paparazzi responsible for startling the singer’s horse by taking surprise photographs.

But snapper Thomas Hinton claimed even though he was the only one taking photos, he had left before the 50-year-old took the tumble.

His pictures allegedly showed the superstar in an enclosed paddock with the paparazzo taking shots behind a gate.

“If I had startled the horse, I would have gotten pictures,” Contactmusic quoted him as telling TMZ.com. (ANI)

Britney’s paparazzi ex faces suit over ‘hit and run’

Washington, April 17 (ANI): Britney Spears’ former boyfriend Adnan Ghalib has been slapped with a lawsuit after a process server accused him of hitting him with his car.

Processor Ram Moskowitz claimed that he was trying to serve the snapper with a restraining order on behalf of Spears when the 36-year-old allegedly rammed the vehicle into him.

Ram, who was subsequently sent flying onto the car’s hood, said, in the suit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the incident left him with cuts, abrasions and a fractured wrist, reports Contactmusic.

Ghalib was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, battery and hit and run post the California incident in February.

According to TMZ.com, he is slated to face the felony charges on May 4 while Ram is seeking unspecified damages in his suit. (ANI)

Hugh Jackman’s wife preferred him to Mick Jagger

Melbourne, Apr 6 (ANI): Aussie actor Hugh Jackman has revealed that his wife Deborra-Lee Furness turned down the chance to party with Brit singer Mick Jagger, and chose to be with him instead, during their courting days.

It happened in 1995 when he had invited Furness, who was starring alongside him in the ABC drama Correlli, to his house for a dinner party.

“She’s very cool. I had a huge crush on her,” the Courier Mail quoted Jackman as telling London’s Mail.

“I decided to have a dinner party and invite her with about 10 people. I made pumpkin soup, snapper and crepes suzette flambe-that was my ‘how to impress a girl’ menu.

“But before the crepes, Deb’s mobile phone rings.

“It’s a very famous friend of hers who says, ‘Deb, I’m outside Hugh’s house in a limo with Mick Jagger and Mick says, ‘Come down, let’s party’,” he said.

Jackman tried to encourage Furness to take up the offer, but she refused and stayed put at his house.

“Here’s Mick Jagger outside my house on Beaconsfield Pde in Melbourne. I say, ‘What are you doing here? Go with Mick’,” Jackman told Furness.

“But she gets on the phone, says, ‘You tell Mick I’m having dinner with Hugh Jackman,’ and hangs up.

“I went, ‘Wow, that’s pretty cool.’ So I confessed my crush — and then she said she had a crush on me, too,” he added. (ANI)
