“Good Luck Charlie” gets renewed

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – Disney Channel freshman sitcom “Good Luck Charlie” is getting a second season — and an original movie.

Since premiering three months ago, “Charlie” has become the top-rated series on TV among kids 6-11 and tweens 9-14. The comedy, about three teens (Bridgit Mendler, Jason Dolley, Bradley Steven Perry) caring for their new baby sister, averages 4.1 million viewers each week.

The second season will likely debut next year, and in the meantime the network is developing an original movie that will feature the show’s cast.

David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston ‘no longer Friends’

Melbourne, March 29 (ANI): David Schwimmer is reportedly not talking to his former ‘Friends’ co-star Jennifer Aniston.

Schwimmer is apparently angry after the actress recently confessed on David Letterman chat show that she had ‘no idea’ whom the actor was marrying.

The 43-year-old, who played Ross Geller in the sitcom, recently announced his plans to tie the knot with his long-term girlfriend, photographer Zoe Buckman, 23.

Schwimmer has been with Buckman for couple of years now and is reportedly mad at Aniston after she couldn’t remember his fiance.

“David was not at all impressed when one of her supposed friends didn’t know who he was marrying,” the Daily Telegraph quoted a source as telling The Mail.

“He has been avoiding her calls since,” the source added. (ANI)

Hey Dad! star to take allegations to police

Hey Dad! actress Sarah Monahan has flown from the United States to Australia to make an official complaint over her alleged sexual abuse while on the hit TV show.

Monahan has made claims in magazines and on television that Hey Dad! actor Robert Hughes abused her while she played his on-screen daughter in the 80s and 90s.

Hughes has vehemently denied the allegation and his legal team has been in contact with NSW Police.

On Thursday night, Monahan told Channel Nine she had flown from the US especially to make an official complaint.

“As soon as people said ‘you need to go to the police’ I was at the airport within three hours and caught the first flight out,” she said.

“We’re headed straight to the police.”

NSW Police say they “stand ready” to launch a formal investigation.

Detective Superintendent John Kerlatec, commander of the Sex Crimes Unit, confirmed police have started collating information.

“A number of police have been assigned and are ready to take up any follow up investigations or inquiries that need to be done,” he said.

He added: “Police need to see detailed allegations by any victims to determine what crime or crimes have been committed.”

Detective Superintendent Kerlatec says while police are not yet conducting a formal investigation, they are looking into it.

“Because of the exposure of this matter, people have made contact that either know of somebody who may be a witness, know of someone who may have additional information,” he said.

“It would be dangerous not to collate that information at this time.

“At some point in the future, if and when an investigation increases, it may be a lost opportunity to find that information then.”

Hey Dad! was one of the most popular shows on TV in the late 1980s and early 90s.

The sitcom focussed on the whacky adventures of Martin Kelly – an architect, single-handedly raising three children after the death of his wife.

But it is now likely to be better remembered for the allegation by Monahan to Women’s Day magazine and to Channel Nine’s A Current Affair that she was fondled during her time with the show.

Monahan, who now lives in the US, played young schoolgirl Jenny Kelly on the program for six years.

Initially, she would not name the man she claims assaulted her.

But on Wednesday night, A Current Affair pointed the finger at Hughes, who played the father of Monahan’s character.

From Singapore, where he now works, Hughes told the show he strenuously denied the allegation.

“I’m absolutely, totally shocked at the allegations and I deny, absolutely deny everything,” he said.

“I’m absolutely puzzled as to why this is being said now.”

Tyson getting ready to make debut as reality TV star

New York, Mar 16 (ANI): Former world heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson is getting ready to make his debut as a reality TV star.

Tyson, a life-long pigeon keeper, will star in a series about bird racing, The New York Post reports.

“I may have stopped fighting. But I never stopped flying birds. It’s my first love,” Tyson said.

The show, to be called Take on Tyson, pits Tyson and his birds against the best racing-pigeon owners in New York.

It is set to air on the cable channel Animal Planet sometime early next year.

The headline potential of turning the ferocious fighter into a reality TV star is not lost on Tyson himself, who has never been on a continuing series.

“I am a little worried about the sitcom effect. Mike Tyson and Animal Planet? They don”t seem to go together, do they?” Tyson said over the weekend

Tyson begins shooting next month in Brooklyn. For the show, Tyson turned his birds over to a cigar-smoking pigeon trainer, Vinnie Torre, who is getting them ready for the competition.

“Mike will be the underdog this time,” said Marjorie Kaplan, the head of Animal Planet. (ANI)

George Harrison’s widow in razor fence row

London, September 5 (ANI): Late Beatle George Harrison’s widow Olivia has been caught up in a planning row after a former television sitcom star alleged that a razor wire fence around her house almost killed his cat.

Rodney Bewes, who starred as Bob Ferris in Seventies television show ‘The Likely Lads’, said the fence posed pets with a dangerous threat and even made the neighbourhood looking like a “war zone”.

Olivia filed a planning application with South Oxfordshire District Council to replace the fence with an identical version, a move opposed by Bewes.

“My cat, Maurice, has been injured on that fence several times, once severing an artery that nearly killed him. It has cost me thousands in vets’ bills,” the Telegraph quoted Bewes as saying.

“There are several other cats – people’s pets – that have been practically gored on that fence, it’s that dangerous.

“It makes me sad when I come home to such a beautiful place and see this thing that makes it look like a war zone. If everybody had razor wire around their gardens can you imagine what it would look like?

“It doesn’t make it any more secure. The bottom half is wood and with a good crowbar you could get through it no problem,” Bewes added.

Web sitcom The Guild’s video tops UK iTunes chart

London, Aug 22 (ANI): A music video by makers of the cult internet soap The Guild has ripped apart the likes of Beyonce and Black Eyed Peas to capture the number one slot in the UK iTunes chart.

(Do You Wanna Date My) Avatar was written to popularise the third series of the show, a tale of people playing an online role-playing game.

The lyrics have lines like: “You’ll never see my actual face. Our love will be in virtual space.”

Almost half a million people have accessed the video since its upload on Monday. The song itself occupies the second position in the Amazon US download chart.

Felicia Day, actress and writer of The Guild, was “a little bit surprised” by the phenomenal success of the track, and said the response by the audience had been “very cool”.

The BBC quoted Day as saying: “We beat the establishment and it fills me with glee.

“One of the things that drives me is to do things differently…. Most people would be working with a label and going through a lot of hoops.

“I think our success empowers everybody who feels like they can’t get their art out there.”

Day who plays Codex in the award-winning sitcom came up with the song when she was writing scripts for the new series, which is financed and distributed by Microsoft via Xbox Marketplace.

“We do 12 episodes per series, and we always owe an extra video for our Xbox order, and I thought ‘wouldn’t it be fun to do something musical? I was listening to really bad 1990s dance songs – C+C Music Factory, Stacey Q – and that was my inspiration,” she said.

TV scriptwriter Jed Whedon composed the music for the number.

The track also features an “intricate and clearly masterful” rap by The Guild co-stars Jeff Lewis and Sandeep Parikh. (ANI)

Susan Boyle won’t appear on ‘Ugly Betty’

London, July 2 (ANI): Britain’s Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle won’t be making a guest appearance on the hit show ‘Ugly Betty’.

The Scottish singing sensation was rumoured to be taking to the small screen to play herself in an upcoming episode of the show.

A source said: “Susan has been bombarded with offers of work in America, but this is something she is really keen on and we hope to make happen.”

But Usmagazine.com reports that a representative for ABC, the network behind the sitcom about a fictional fashion magazine, has said that there is no truth to the claims, reports the Daily Star.

Boyle rose to fame after appearing on Britain’s Got Talent, counting the likes of Demi Moore among her fans. (ANI)

Will Smith’s Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air co-star blasts him in new book

Washington, June 20 (ANI): Will Smith’s ‘Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air’ co-star Janet Hubert has opened up about her feud with the actor in her new book.

Hubert played Smith’s onscreen aunt, Vivian Banks, in the hit 1990s sitcom, but was fired in 1993 and replaced with another actress following reports that she wants to spend more time with her new baby.

In her book ‘Perfection Is Not A Sitcom Mom’, Hubert has admitted that rumours she quit the show are simply not true, reports Contactmusic.

Hubert claims Smith and his management would often sabotage other talented actors on the comedy series – in a bid to keep the spotlight firmly on him.

According to BVbuzz.com, she writes in her book, “Smith had people around him who made sure no one outshone him.”

“I was happy to see Don Cheadle become the quality actor that he is, and often wondered how he made it past one episode, as Hilary’s boyfriend, being such a fierce actor. No one could be on ‘The Tonight Show,’ that first season, except Will. And I mean no one,” she added. (ANI)

Buffy The Vampire Slayer to be turned into a flick

Washington, May 27 (ANI): After entertaining fans on the small screen, ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ is all set to hit cinema halls with a forthcoming flick based on it.

Though the character of Buffy was made famous by Hollywood actress Sarah Michelle Gellar in the hit TV sitcom, it was originally introduced in the 1992 flick of the same title.

The Vampire flick could hit the theatres with a new Vampire.

Director Fran Rubel Kuzui, who directed the original film and executively produced the TV programme, intends to replace Gellar and the rest of the cast with new actors to fight demons in a different generation.

“Everything has its moment. Every movie takes on a life at some point, and this seems like the moment to do this,” Contactmusic quoted Kuzui as saying.

The famous Vampire sitcom ran for 6 years on TV. (ANI)

Mary Parker thinks her nude scene in ‘Weeds’ wasn’t required

New York, May 20 (ANI): Hollywood actress Mary Louise Parker is upset about her nude bathtub scene in the sitcom ‘Weeds’, as she thinks that it was not required.

Mary, who plays Nancy Botwin, a marijuana-selling mom in the sitcom “Weeds”, thinks that she did not need to bare all for the scene.

“I didn’t think I needed to be naked. I fought with the director about it, and now I am bitter,” the New York Daily News quoted her as saying.

She revealed that the scene, which is on the Internet, was taken too far.

“I wish I hadn’t done that. I was goaded into it,” she said.

However, the co-executive producer of ‘Weeds’, Roberto Benabib, has defended the scene by saying that it is one of Mary’s best scenes.

“We felt at that point in her life, defenses had been so thoroughly stripped away. There was a nonchalance to the nudity that informed the scene,” Roberto said.

“I thought it was wonderful, one of the five best scenes Mary-Louise has ever done (on ‘Weeds’),” Roberto added. (ANI)

Ashley Olsen abandoning acting for a career in fashion industry

Washington, May 14 (ANI): Hollywood actress Ashley Olsen revealed that she would soon be bidding goodbye to her acting career, as she is keen to focus on fashion designing full time.

Ashley Olsen, who has been acting ever since her stint in sitcom Full House, when she was just 9 months old, has decided to focus on her fashion collection ‘The Row’ with sister Mary Kate Olsen, while the latter focuses on acting.

“I’ve been transitioning from acting as a kid to doing something that I’m choosing for myself – to be part of the fashion industry. That’s what I want for my future. It has nothing to do with my past, nothing to do with anyone else’s agenda. And I followed my heart the whole way,” Contactmusic quoted Ashley Olsen as telling VMan.

“The Row is really something that I’m doing while my sister still wants to focus on acting. She’s my partner in The Row, but she trusts me with the everyday. I mean, I see her like 10 times a day,” Ashley Olsen added.

Ashley, who is expanding the collection further to embrace men’s wear in the autumn this year, is bent upon proving that her collection is not just another celebrity line. (ANI)

10yr-old Chinese quake hero turns movie star

New Delhi, May 12 (ANI): Lin Hao is no longer camera shy, for the youngest of China’s “quake heroes” to emerge from last year’s catastrophe is filming for a third television role.

The 10-year-old, who had rescued two fellow students from classroom rubble after being left with a head injury that required a hair transplant, is presently shooting for a sitcom entitled Stories at the Nurse Station.

The brave lad, who was tagged “heroic youth” along with 19 other youngsters last June for their courage, jetted to central China’s Henan province to star in the show that tells the stories about the days following the earthquake, reports the China Daily.

Lin said: “I play a boy named Guai Guai. His father has a part-time job and is never at home. That’s just like my family.”

Jennifer Aniston wants a ‘Friends’ reunion show

Washington, May 8 (ANI): Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston says that the producers of her hit sitcom ‘Friends’ should plan a reunion show as soon as possible.

“(Fans) do want to know that all the time,” Us Weekly quoted her as saying.

“I don’t think (producers will do one), and if they do, they should hurry up,” she added.

Jennifer said that the Friends makers should plan a reunion soon, as she did not want a reunion when all the Friends cast grew older.

“Well, it’s been off the air, but you also don’t want it to be that reunion show or movie where you see – like when the ‘Brady Bunch’ had a reunion and they were old,” she said.

Meanwhile, Jennifer has revealed that she has been friends with Steve Zahn, with whom she will be starring in her latest film ‘Management’, since the time he did a cameo in Friends as Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow’s husband).

“We’ve known each other since that ‘friendship’ show – in Japan it’s called ‘The Friendship Show. Yeah, it was a couple years ago. He did the second season,” Jennifer said.

Zahn added: “I did one show. I still have people walk up to me … all the time [and say], ‘You’re Phoebe’s husband!’ That was three days out of my life!” (ANI)

Fawlty Towers will never return because cast members are “too old, tired”: Cleese

London, May 7 (ANI): John Cleese has ruled out return of Fawlty Towers, insisting that the castmembers are “too old and tired.”

The 69-year-old said “everyone would be excited if we did” but that the “bar has moved so high” that a remake would be “good – not very good”.

Cleese gave his comments as he, Prunella Scales, Connie Booth and Andrew Sachs reunited for the first time in 30 years to promote a documentary for TV channel G.O.L.D, reports The BBC.

Only 12 episodes of the 1970s sitcom about a grumpy hotelier were ever made.

Cleese, who wrote the tales of Basil Fawlty with ex-wife and co-star Booth, said he had to work for 43 weeks – “writing, performing and filming” – to make each of the two series.

Cleese said: “It took so much energy to do that show. I think everyone would be excited if we did it [a new series]. The problem is, when you do do something that is generally accepted as being very good, a horrible problem arises which is, how do you top it?

“The expectation of what you will do is so high.”

Cleese and Booth – who played waitress Polly Sherman – had taken the decision jointly to stop at two series, he said.

“We both felt we’d done our best and we just knew that, if we did it, it wouldn’t be as good. It would be good but not very good,” he explained. (ANI)

Courteney Cox ‘chats all night with Brad Pitt’ at gig

New York, May 6 (ANI): Courteney Cox raised a few eyebrows after she was spotted chatting away with Brad Pitt, the former husband of her best pal Jennifer Aniston, at a gig.

The actress, who shot to fame with her portrayal of Monica Geller on the hit sitcom Friends, had reportedly turned up with her husband David Arquette at the Wiltern Theater in LA.

The Dirt star had been attending the final stop of rocker Chris Cornell’s Scream album tour when she ran into Pitt, and was seen having a gala time with him.

“Instead of ignoring him, Courteney chatted away with Brad all night. The three were in great spirits and seemed really happy to see each other,” the New York Post quoted a backstage source as saying. (ANI)

Get ready for ‘Friends’- the porn movie

Washington, May 4 (ANI): While there are on and off reports of a ‘Friends’ movie for a long time, the beloved sitcom is set for a different kind of revival- as a porn film.

The porn-version of the sitcom, titled ‘Friends – A XXX Parody’, will hit DVD stores this summer (09).

While the Central Perk would turn perkier, the film’s racy plot would be a combo of both comedy and sex.

“Hilarity and deep penetration ensues when Freebie accidentally spills the beans about Moanica’s bachelorette party, leading the boys to decide to throw a bigger and raunchier bachelor party,” Contactmusic quoted a movie spokeswoman as saying of the movie.

The DVD comes as part of a package of sitcom parodies, which are currently in production at film studio New Sensations, and they include ’30 Rock – A XXX Parody’, ‘Scrubs – A XXX Parody’ and ‘Seinfeld – A XXX Parody’. (ANI)

televised from Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The 22-year-old aspiring motivational speaker edged out first runner-up Miss California USA Carrie Prejean and second runner-up Miss Arizona USA Alicia-Monique Blanco.

Contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia competed in the pageant, aired live on NBC. Contestants were judged by their performance in swimsuit and evening gown modelling contests and their responses to a question asked onstage; unlike the rival Miss America pageant, Miss USA contestants do not perform a talent.

The top 15 contestants worked the stage in white string bikinis designed by pop star
Jessica Simpson’s swimwear line. Rocker Kevin Rudolf performed his song “Let it Rock,” followed by The Veronicas, who performed their single “Untouched” as the top 10 beauties showed off their choice of glittering evening gowns.

Dalton’s title comes with a year’s use of a New York apartment, a public relations team, a two-year scholarship at the New York Film Academy and an undisclosed salary.

She also will go to the Bahamas in August to compete in the Miss Universe pageant, where American beauties haven’t been lucky in recent years. Both Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart and her predecessor, Rachel Smith, fell on stage during the evening gown competition, becoming accidental YouTube stars.

Asked about the tumble during the show on Sunday, Stewart said it was a lesson in bouncing back from defeat.

“I think it was a true test of my character,” said the 27-year-old Texan, who worked to raise awareness for breast cancer as she travelled the globe promoting the beauty contest.

If there is a YouTube moment from Sunday’s show, it may be Miss California’s answer to a question about legalizing same-sex marriage. The tall blonde stumbled some before giving an answer that appeared to please the pageant audience.

“We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage,” Prejean said. “And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offence to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”

Some in the audience cheered, others booed. The pageant had enjoyed a scandal-free year until earlier this month, when Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza was skewered for a blog posting from a trip to Guantanamo Bay. The entry described having “aloooot of fun” at a base that houses the notorious military prison; it was later deleted from the pageant’s Web site.

The contest, which is owned by NBC and reality TV mogul Donald Trump, was hosted by “Access Hollywood” co-anchor Billy Bush and Nadine Velazquez of the NBC sitcom “My Name is Earl.” This year’s judges included “Saturday Night Live” cast member Kenan Thompson, “Dancing with the Stars” winner Kelly Monaco and gossip blogger Perez Hilton.

Spencer Pratt sees a potential politician in himself

Washington, Apr 15 (ANI): America TV personality Spencer Pratt has revealed that he sees a potential politician in himself, and that he will definitely contest election later in his life.

“Don’t know if I’ll be getting elected any time in the next century or so, but definitely going after mayor of L.A. and at least governor,” Us Weekly quoted him as telling celebrity blog Pop Sugar.

“I’ll probably stop at Governor. I mean, if people were really pushing for me [to run for president] at that point, I’ll probably have to step into that role. That pressure may be a little much,” he added.

Pratt revealed that he would like to contest elections from his native California, as he was a fan of his birthplace.

“I’ll start with California because I love California so much … my state and my birthplace,” Pratt said.

However, Pratt revealed that his political inclination would never make him quit the sitcom Hills.

“It makes me sick when I hear people say, ‘I’m quitting The Hills. I’m going to go do this,’” he said. (ANI)
