Hamilton reconciles with dad, on the lookout for new manager

London, May 7 (ANI): Formula One star Lewis Hamilton has made up with his father after a cold war that lasted two months.

The duo had fallen out earlier when Hamilton had relieved his father and long-time manager of his managerial duties days before the start of the F1 season.

“We have been in contact recently. He”s coming to terms with it. He”s said he supports me. That’s all I”ve always wanted from my dad,” an elated Hamilton was quoted by The Daily Express, as saying.

His father, who had been handling him since his karting days, was stunned at being dropped, leading to the split.

The move has had the world’s top sports managers lining up to for the vacancy. Hamilton did not go in for a replacement, preferring to mull over his options before taking a call.

The reunion does not mean that his dad will play an active role in selecting his successor.

“I’ll probably speak to him, but we won’t decide together on my new manager. I want to set the direction I’m going in. It’s not a weight off my mind. It just takes time. The future’s bright. I’m thinking of getting someone while I am in Formula One, someone who would help me grow as a brand,” says Hamilton

Amongst those vying for the job are leading talent agency IMG and ace manager Simon Fuller known for catapulting the Beckhams to fame. He also counts Andy Murray as his client. (ANI)

Ellen DeGeneres to take Paula Abdul’s seat on American Idol

Washington, Sept 10 (ANI): American stand-up comedian and TV host Ellen DeGeneres will be taking Paula Abdul’s place as the fourth judge on American Idol.

People magazine quoted Fox television as stating: “DeGeneres will sit alongside Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi and offer her own unique perspective to the contestants throughout the competition.”

DeGeneres appears on the popular talent hunt show after the audition saw a string of celeb guest judges including Shania Twain, Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Joe Jonas and Kristin Chenoweth.

Although the 51-year-old is quite excited about her new job, she promised her fans that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would continue.

She said: “I’m going to have a day job and a night job…this is so exciting for me.”

DeGeneres said the talks with the Idol bosses had been going on for a while.

“I’ve been dying to tell everyone… It’s just been so hard to keep it a secret and we just finally got the OK and I’m so excited. It is going to be so much fun,” she said.

DeGeneres added she would still see the show like an audience member.

She said: “Hopefully I’m the people’s point of view because I’m just like you…. I sit at home and I watch it. … I’m not looking at it in a critical way from the producer’s mind. I’m looking at it as a person who is going to buy the music and is going to relate to that person.”

Speaking on DeGeneres joining the show, Idol creator and executive producer Simon Fuller said: “Ellen has been a fan of the show for many years, and her love of music and understanding of the American public will bring a unique human touch to our judging panel.” (ANI)

Posh’s chat-up line kicked off her love story with Becks

London, July 4 (ANI): It was a chat-up line that sparked off David and Victoria Beckham’s relationship, which went on to become the most iconic partnerships in celebrity history.

After watching Manchester United play Sheffield Wednesday at Old Trafford in March 1997, a determined Victoria Adams had waved goodbye to a shy Beckham with a chat-up line laden with Girl Power, and that was what led to couple’s rock-solid union that extends to this date.

“If you don’t ring me, I’m going to kick you in the b******s the next time I see you,” British tabloid The Sun quoted Posh as having said at the time.

It is believed that Pop guru Simon Fuller, the creator of The Spice Girls, engineered the couple’s meeting after he saw great potential in Victoria.

So, tickets to Manchester United games were hastily arranged, and it wasn’t long before Britain’s most up-and-coming footballer set his eyes on the woman who would soon become his wife.

But despite the encounter’s engineered beginnings, there was a genuine chemistry between the two young celebrities.

While the well brought up Victoria was impressed by David’s politeness, the footballer was equally charmed by Victoria’s forthright message to call her.

And, since then, the pair have been together, and are still hailed as the most stylish and loving couple of the last decade.

Posh and Beckham are celebrating their tenth anniversary today, and are currently holidaying in Seychelles. (ANI)

“I was given a Nintendo DS a couple of weeks ago so I’ve been going on the Brain Training game while I’ve been in Melbourne,” the Sun quoted him as saying.

“It was actually from Simon Fuller for winning this year’s first couple of tournaments so I’ve been playing on that with my friend Ross Hutchins.
“We both have our strengths. I’m beating him on maths but then there’s one game which is like remembering numbers and he’s got me on that,” he added. (ANI)
