Jennifer Aniston keeps fit by running around horse track

Washington, September 20 (ANI): Jennifer Aniston has been running hard to maintain her fitness while shooting new film ‘The Bounty.’

The actress reportedly woke up at 5a.m in the morning and ran laps around New Jersey’s Monmouth Park racecourse to the surprise of the crewmembers.

“She showed up every morning at 5am to run laps on the giant oval for a solid hour before cameras rolled,” Contactmusic quoted a source as saying.

“She’s really disciplined about keeping fit. She’d get there before everyone else and zip around that huge track like a winner!” the source added.

The ‘Break-Up’ star apparently prefers running to other fitness regimes as it keeps her thighs and calves toned.

Even earlier this year, it was reported that she woke up at 3am to work out so that she could stick to her busy shooting schedule.

A source said at the time: “Jennifer has had a totally overhaul for this film. She wants to be seriously fit, yet remain curvy.

“There are a lot of early starts on set, so she has had to get up at 3am to get two hours in the gym before getting ready for filming.” (ANI)

Mirren to star in big-screen remake of Graham Greene’s novel Brighton Rock

London, Aug 28 (ANI): Actress Dame Helen Mirren is set to star in new film Brighton Rock, adapted from Graham Greene’s classic 1939 novel of the same title.

The Oscar winner will play amateur detective Ida Arnold in the movie.

The plot revolves around teenager Pinkie, who seduces a young waitress after she stumbles on evidence linking him and his gang to a revenge killing committed by Pinkie.

Mirren will have the task cut out to find the truth behind the killing.

Rowan Joffe has written the script and will direct the film too.

And he intends to make it look as contemporary as possible.

“We’re making Brighton Rock as contemporary as we possibly can because the story feels ‘modern’. It’s too alive, too vibrant and too relevant to be contained in the late 1930s,” the BBC News quoted him as saying.

Also starring in the film, set in 1964, is Sam Riley, who will play the lead character Pinkie Brown apart from Pete Postlethwaite and Happy Go Lucky’s Andrea Riseborough.

Shooting is scheduled to start in October this year. (ANI)

Andrew Stuart Luster born on 15 December, 1963, is the great-grandson of cosmetics giant Max Factor, Sr. and an heir to the Max Factor cosmetics fortune. He grew up in Malibu, California and attended Windward School in Santa Monica. Convicted of a series of rapes in 2003, Luster had been supported by a $3.1 million trust fund as he traveled and surfed at various beaches.

In 1996, 1997 and 2000 Luster was accused of giving three women GHB, a known date rape drug, and raping them while they were unconscious. Luster was brought to trial in 2002. Soon afterward, police officers found videotapes of Luster raping the women in question, including one tape labeled “Shauna GHBing.”

In January, 2003, while on trial for rape, Luster left the country and was declared a fugitive from justice by the judge. Although his attorneys attempted to halt proceedings until he could be located, the judge ruled that Luster would be tried in absentia.

The trial went ahead without him and on January 22, after two days of deliberations, the jury found Luster guilty on 86 of 87 charges against him and deadlocked on a single poisoning charge.

Luster was convicted of 20 counts of drug-induced rape, 17 counts of raping an unconscious victim, and multiple counts of sodomy and oral copulation by use of drugs. Luster was sentenced to six years for each of the 20 counts of rape and another four years for poisoning, for a total of 124 years in prison. Luster was also ordered to pay a $1 million fine.

The California Court of Appeal refused the appeal his attorneys filed on his behalf, ruling that as a fugitive from justice, Luster had forfeit his right to appeal. The California Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court later refused to overturn this ruling.

Andrew Luster was later famously caught by bounty hunters, including Duane “Dog” Chapman, in Mexico.

During his flight, Luster found his way to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico where he lived under the assumed name David Carrera, surfing and partying. He was captured by bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman, his son Leland Chapman, Tim Chapman, and two TV crewmen in a noisy scuffle on June 18, 2003 and was then taken into custody by Mexican authorities. The next day, Luster was returned to the U.S., and imprisoned. Chapman was subsequently arrested for deprivation of liberty because bounty-hunting is prohibited by Mexican law, a charge that was ultimately dropped in August 2007.

Luster is currently serving his 124 year prison sentence in Mule Creek State Prison in California. Because the crimes harmed other persons, Luster must serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for release with time off for good behaviour, making him not eligible for release until October 2108. Luster has filed a federal habeas corpus suit as the final possibility of getting his case reviewed by another Court on appeal, which was rejected in late 2007. Soon after, his attorney in the case Stephen Yagman, began his own three year prison term for tax evasion.

Two of the victims won civil lawsuits against Luster, who was ordered to pay a total of $39 million. The women’s attorneys have been busy ever since trying to untangle the Luster/Factor family investments. Luster subsequently sold most of his property and declared bankruptcy. It remains unclear how much the victims will actually receive.

After he vanished, a movie called A Date with Darkness : The Trial and Capture of Andrew Luster was made based on him and his victims. The film was supposed to end with a picture of the real Andrew Luster, asking the audience to notify authorities if they should see him. When Luster was finally captured, the film was still shooting. The ending was re-written to incorporate his capture.

When Rupert Grint met Michelle Obama

Washington, Jun 30 (ANI): Brit actor Rupert Grint has revealed that he was left awestruck after U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama made a secret visit to the set of the latest Harry Potter movie.

Grint, 20, was busy with the shooting of ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ earlier this month, when Michelle and her two daughters, Malia, 10, and 8-year-old Sasha arrived on the set.

The actor, who plays Ron Weasley in the wizard series, revealed that he is not easily impressed by famous people, despite working with well-known actors like Sir Michael Gambon, Helena Bonham Carter and Dame Maggie Smith, but he was left in awe of the First Lady.

“I’m not easily impressed by famous people, but nothing’s matched this. I didn’t think I was going to be nervous, then this huge motorcade pulled up at the studio and Michelle stepped out of a black Range Rover and everybody was speechless,” Contactmusic quoted him as telling Live magazine.

“It’s hard to imagine (British Prime Minister) Gordon Brown having that kind of effect,” he said.

Michelle revealed that America’s First Family was huge fans of the Harry Potter movies – and that she was more thrilled about visiting the set than she had been about meeting British Royal Queen Elizabeth II.

“We sat around, ate cake and chatted. She said that the President is a big fan of the films and loves the books, and that she’d met the Queen the day before – but visiting the Potter set was far more exciting, that we were a lot cooler,” Grint revealed.

“It was hard to take it all in. I kept thinking, ‘Here I am talking to the First Lady’,” he added. (ANI)

Megan Fox in awe of stunt doubles’ daring feat

London, Jun 27 (ANI): ‘Transformers’ star Megan Fox has revealed that she was left in awe of her and co-star Shia LaBeouf’s stunt doubles after they performed a daring feat, and escaped unhurt.

Fox, 23, admits that there were moments during the shooting of ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ that almost ended in tragedy when stunts went awry.

But what she remembers most was a scene in which the crew came close to losing two members of the team, after an explosion went wrong on the set of the movie sequel.

“Our stunt doubles almost died because there was a gas bomb and it blew up too early. But everyone survived,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying. (ANI)

Jean Charles de Menezes’ inquest turned to stage play

London, Jun 20 (ANI): The shooting of Brazilian national Jean Charles de Menezes by the police on a Tube train at Stockwell station has now been adapted into a screen play by a London fringe theatre.

The show, ‘Stockwell: The Inquest into the Death of Jean Charles de Menezes’, will be staged at the Landor Theatre in Clapham, which is close to where the 27-year-old had been shot dead after being mistaken for a suicide bomber.

The play, which opens on July 21, will explore the sequence of events that led to the shooting on July 22, 2005.

It will also feature testimony from the inquest from surveillance and firearms officers, senior police co-ordinators, civilian witnesses to the shooting and relatives of de Menezes.

Yasmin Khan, a spokeswoman for Justice For Jean, a campaign led by the de Menezes family, has consented to the show.

“Until we’ve seen it, we support any artist contribution to keeping the case in the public profile,” the BBC quoted her as saying.

“As it’s the four year anniversary, it’s timely and fitting to go over the issues and anything that goes over that, we welcome,” she added.

Kieron Barry and Sophie Lifschutz, the writing-director partnership behind 2007′s ‘Deepcut: Scenes From An Inquiry’, have created the play.

The show will be running at the Landor Theatre for 16 performances until August 8. (ANI)

Sandra Bullock grateful her “jiggling” butt was cut from ‘The Proposal’

Washington, June 19 (ANI): Sandra Bullock is glad that her “jiggling” butt has been edited out from a nude scene in new movie, ‘The Proposal’.

The actress was bothered about unflattering areas of her body being revealed in a scene where her co-star Ryan Reynolds smacks her bare back.

“I was really worried about my butt jiggling when contact was made. Luckily, the director was a fellow female and knew just how to cut the scene before the ripple effect happened. I am very grateful,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

The beauty has never been apprehensive of a bold scene- while filming the first nude scene in her career a strategically placed cover-up had fallen away, but that did not embarrass her.

Recollecting the incident, she said: “Shooting it was odd. There are things stuck to areas that generally you don’t have things stuck to. I mean, you have things covering your body, but not stuck to it. And then they got unstuck, and oddly we didn’t care because we were so tired.” (ANI)

Shooting with Spielberg rids Shia La Beouf of stress

Washington, May 18 (ANI): Hollywood actor Shia La Beouf has revealed that he enjoys shooting a few rounds with filmmaker Steven Spielberg to get rid of stress.

LaBeouf says that rifle-range shooting helps him feel recharged, and doesn’t let him be forced to depend on drugs, drink and therapy to unwind.

“If I find I’m sinking, I’ll get out and paint toilet seats or ride dirt bikes or shoot. Firing shotguns really helps me,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

LaBeouf thinks that Steven, who introduced him to guns, is a perfect shooting partner.

“Steven Spielberg takes me when he goes… He’s an Olympic shot. The hand-eye co-ordination of that man is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. If he weren’t a great director, he could be one of our greatest snipers,” he said. (ANI)

Justin Timberlake, Ciara get all licky on new video shoot

Washington, May 11 (ANI): American singers Justin Timberlake and Ciara reportedly got so carried away with the shooting of their new video that they ended up licking each other.

The two had teamed up for the shooting of ‘Love Sex Magic’, which appears on the R and B singer’s new album ‘Fantasy Ride’.

As per the promo, there was a lot of on-set chemistry to cause them to nibble on each other’s ears.

“We were just trying to do some fun, playful things, just to give the record and the video another edge. We freestyled a bit, said we were going to try a few things,” Contactmusic quoted Ciara as telling the New York Post.

“After a while, we’re doing it again and again. Now I feel awkward when people say, ‘What did his ear taste like?’” she added. (ANI)

Carrie Prejean being encouraged to surrender Miss California title

Washington, May 9 (ANI): Miss California Carrie Prejean is being encouraged to surrender her title, in the wake of recent controversy surrounding her anti-gay marriage stance and nude photos.

Keith Lewis, the director of the Miss California pageant, has said that the 21-year-old beauty queen is giving preference to her views than what her title represents.

“We are just trying to move forward in what is the best way for the organization, the women, the titleholder and the state. Carrie is still Miss California USA, but right now she is not acting in the capacity of Miss California USA. She is acting as Carrie Prejean and working on things that are important to Carrie Prejean,” Fox News quoted Lewis as saying.

In fact, many pageant insiders and former title-holders have said that if Prejean wishes to continue her crusade in advocating her traditional views of marriage, she should first resign from her role as Miss California.

“I think it’s awesome that she’s found something that she’s very passionate about and found this voice, but if she wants to pursue that and emphasize those opinions she should do it as Carrie not as Miss California so therefore I do think she should step down,” said Miss USA 2004 Shandi Finnessey.

She added: “But I actually think it’s sad you turn on the TV and everyone is so concerned about a beauty queen and whether or not she will lose her title. But I understand it’s important because she now is Miss California USA and she has to represent that title and not necessarily herself.”

Meanwhile, Prejean did not turn up for the shooting of a PSA, titled ‘I Believe … The Beauty of California’, aimed at promoting the diversity of California. (ANI)

Russell Crowe in hiding before Robin Hood shoot

Melbourne, May 2 (ANI): Aussie actor Russell Crowe is said to be in hiding before the shooting of highly anticipated epic Robin Hood.

Crowe, 45, is not in hiding from the press or his fans, but rather from the film’s director Sir Ridley Scott.

“That raspy old bastard, I’m staying away from him at the moment because in the last few days before filming someone always gets shot,” the Daily Telegraph quoted Crowe as saying.

The actor is of course joking but it says a lot about the relationship the two have been having, with five movies in 10 years having been made involving them. (ANI)

Shooting of ‘Total Ten’, film on Mumbai terror attacks underway

Mumbai, Apr 23 (ANI): On location shooting of forthcoming Bollywood film ‘Total Ten’ is underway in Mumbai.

The film would star Rajan Verma, who essays the role of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist caught alive during the Mumbai terror attack in November 2008.

Produced by Hari Om Sharam, Anand Pandrey and Kumar, Total Ten is budgeted at a meagre Rs. 3 crore and shows the journey of Kasab from Pakistan to the trial court in Mumbai.

The other actors performing the movie are Sudesh Berry, who plays Vijay Salaskar (former Senior Police officer and encounter specialist), Homi Wadia, who plays Hemant Karkare (former Chief of Mumbai anti-terrorist squad), Ashok Kulkarni, who plays Ashok Kamte (former Additional Commissioner of Mumbai police) and Ashish Vidyarthi, who plays Tukaram Ombale (former assistant sub-inspector of Mumbai Police).

All these brave men were killed while fighting the terrorists in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

Describing the theme of his movie, Surendar Suri said that Total Ten was a tribute to these Mumbai police officers who paid the ultimate price while fighting for their countrymen.

“The title of the film ‘Total Ten’ if you read then you will come to know that there were only ten Mumbai police officers who got Ashok Chakra (bravery awards) and only those people get Ashok Chakra who have performed some heroic deeds. So this film is my tribute to their bravery,” said Suri.

Rajan Verma said he believes that the movie will give a message to those youngsters who have gone off track but not to trod the path of terrorism.

“This is not a mere film but it’s a message from those terrorists who are churned out of so called terror factories. We don’t have to finish one terrorist but we have to close those terror factories. And these terror factories will stop when the raw material (the youngsters) supplied to them is stopped. Through this film I have to give a message to those youngsters who have gone astray not to become terrorists,” said Verma.

Kasab was one of 10 gunmen who arrived in Mumbai last November via sea route from Pakistan to terrorise the city, killing 166 people. By Shaikh Sharik (ANI)

Tokyo confident as IOC evaluation team looks at Olympics bid

Tokyo-Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso pledged his government’s full support for Tokyo’s bid to host the 2016 Games as a delegation from the International Olympics Committee began an inspection Thursday.

“It is my earnest desire to invite young Olympians from around the world to Tokyo to experience what I felt and learned as a young athlete,” Aso told the 13-member IOC evaluation team.

Aso, who was a member of the Japanese shooting team at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, added: “Whatever needs to be done, will be done. Whatever needs to be built, will be built. Whatever needs to be financed, will be financed.”

Tokyo officials say they are confident of promoting the city as the most appropriate venue for the 2016 Games.

“I was very nervous all day,” Tokyo governor Shintaro Ishihara said at a press conference. “But many experts gathered and I was also able to answer IOC’s pinpoint questions.”

Japan’s capital is aiming to stage the world’s first carbon-minus Olympic and what it calls the most ambitious energy conservation policy for the Games. No details were revealed.

But Ishihara expressed concerns whether four days would be sufficient for the IOC to assess Tokyo’s financial ability and environmental conditions.

Although the city has a central government’s guarantee to finance the Games, Tokyo currently sees no need to make use of it, Ishihara has said.

The IOC evaluation team was expected to complete the inspection on Monday.

Besides Tokyo, Chicago, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro are bidding to host the summer games in 2016. (dpa)
