Ahmedis shocked with kid glove treatment of mosque attackers by Pak Punjab Govt

Lahore, Jun.4 (ANI): After the brazen attack on two mosques belonging to a minority sect in Lahore last Friday, people of the Ahmedi sect hoped that the Punjab government would take some important steps to protect the marginalized strata of the society, but it was not to be.

Amazingly, when the provincial authorities should have been dealing with the militants, who were nabbed alive during the commando operation on the Garhi Sahu and Model Town mosques, with force, they are busy in facilitating the demands of the terror mongers.

According to reports, one of the injured terrorists was allowed to use his cell phone in the hospital and the authorities even arranged a meeting between him and his family members.

The Ahmedis have severely criticised the provincial government for failing to act tough against the militants who were nabbed after murdering innocent people.

“Several terrorist attacks have been seen in the past, but none of the terrorists were treated so lovingly… none were allowed to communicate with their fellows, who then attempt to free him and manage to safely escape… God knows what they had wanted to achieve and the worst part is that they are still at large,” The Daily Times quoted Munawar Ali Shahid, a spokesman for the Ahmedi sect, as saying.

“The only option that an Ahmedi has is either to leave the country or be killed at the hands of a terrorist,” Shahid added.

The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), which is in opposition in the province, has also launched an attack on the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led Punjab government, saying the attack on the Ahmedi mosques was a “clear case of negligence.”

“People have lost faith in the Punjab government after the latter contested elections in coordination with terrorist outfits in Jhang and the way the authorities handled the Gojra incident makes it seem that they have an agenda against minorities,” PPP’s Lahore President Chaudhury Asghar Ali Gujjar said. Nankana Sahib residents demand action against criminals by Pak Punjab govt

Lahore, May 19 (ANI): Hundreds of protesters in Nankana Sahib demonstrated outside the Punjab Governor’s residence demanding immediate action against a criminal gang, which has killed about a dozen people in the region.

Angry protestors blocked the road in front of the Governor’s House for several hours with the body of one Muhammed Shafi, who is said to have been killed by the criminal gang.

Later, on the assurance of local Member of National Assembly (MNA) Rana Arshad the mob agreed to end their protest.

Arshad assured the aggrieved family that the provincial government had already announced a head money of 300,000 rupees on the accused and that he would personally pursue the case to ensure that justice is delivered.

Shafi’s close relative Shahid Nawaz told The Daily Times that they have filed several cases against one Sarfaraz Ishtiaq, a noted criminal of the region who is believed to have murdered Shafi, but the police have failed to take any action in this regard. (ANI)

Militant outfits regrouping in PoK to sneak into India: Local political leaders

London, May 15 (ANI): Putting a stamp on India’s stand that there several terror training camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) along the Line of Control (LoC) exist, local PoK political leaders and residents have said that extremists are ‘regrouping’ in the region and trying to cross over.

Arif Shahid, Secretary General of the All Parties National Alliance (APNA) told the BBC that “Jihadi” activities have recommenced on the Pakistani side of the LoC.

“Most of the activities are concentrated in the Neelum Valley along the LoC,” added Shahid, who personally had visited the region and confirmed that militants are present in the region in large numbers and have set up several terror training camps there.

“The men are not locals – they have long hair and beards. Most do not speak the local language,” he said.

Shahid also pointed out that the sudden surge in militant activities might be aimed at sabotaging the renewed peace process between India and Pakistan.

“They have set up camps in the region and many are crossing the border. This is the start of another proxy war,” he said.

Shahid was backed by Kashmir National Liberation Front (JKNLF) chief Shaukat Maqbool Bhat, who said the militants are crossing into India on a regular basis.

“The fighters are there and they are regularly crossing into India,” BBC quoted Bhat, as saying

Local residents also confirmed the presence of ‘foreign’ militants in the region and said they are on the look out to sneak into Indian territory.

“We are scared. The armed men are moving around the area and are trying to cross the border. We can make out from their appearances and languages they are not from any part of Kashmir,” a local said, while refusing to be named.

“The local people are very scared – they believe the militant crossings are going to restart artillery exchanges between the Pakistani and Indian armies,” Bhat added. (ANI)

Pak must aim at wickets, not containment to win T20 title: Imran Khan

Islamabad, May 13 (ANI): Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan has said that the Shahid Afridi led team should adopt a ‘wicket taking’ policy rather than just focussing on preventing other teams from scoring runs, if it has to move further in the ICC World T20 World Championship.

He said Afridi should adopt the same strategy which was adopted by the 1992 World Cup winning Pakistan squad, which was to look for wickets.

“This is what the Aussies have been doing and this has made them a great team,” The Nation quoted Imran, as saying.

Pakistan would be taking on Australia in the second semi-final of the T20 championship at St.Lucia tomorrow (Friday, May 14).

He also suggested that Pakistan should use fast bowler Mohammed Asif as an attacking bowler, and not as a ‘run stopper’.

Imran, one of Pakistan’s most successful captains, said that batting was Pakistan’s main problem in the on going tournament, as apart from opener Salman Butt none of the other batsmen have fired so far.

He said that since Pakistan’s batting has not been upto the mark, Afridi should always look to bat first rather than chasing.

He also suggested some changes in the batting order, saying Afridi should bring himself and Misbah-ul-Haq up the order so that they can accumulate maximum runs when the ball is new and hard. (ANI)

No intention of playing for Pakistan: Yousuf

Islamabad, May 12 (ANI): Angry over his ban by the Pakistan Cricket Board, former captain Mohammad Yousuf has turned his back on international cricket, saying he has no intention of playing for the country again.

Yousuf has represented Pakistan on 371 occasions and amassed 17,075 runs during a career spanning 12 years.

“Yousuf is still very disappointed about his treatment by the PCB and has not changed his mind about coming out of retirement,” Pakpassion.net quoted sources close to Yousuf, as saying.

The former skipper was one of seven players banned or fined by the board following the whitewash in Australia.

The PCB took the severe action on the advice of a report submitted by a six-member inquiry committee set up to investigate the reasons behind the Australia debacle.

The Pakistan Cricket Board barred former captains Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf from the national team for life as part of a major crackdown on player indiscipline.

The experienced duo was effectively banned from representing their country at international level as a result of alleged infighting.

While Shoaib Malik, Rana Naved ul Hasan, Umar Akmal, Kamran Akmal, Younus Khan and Shahid Afridi have appealed against their respective punishments, Yousuf decided not to appeal against his ban.

The source added: “Yousuf feels that there is too much dirt in the team. There has been so much going on behind the scenes. He (Yousuf) has had to take so much and he realised he could only take so much. The sad thing is that the whole truth is nowhere near being revealed.”

Yousuf is practising hard as he is keen to play county cricket in England. (ANI)

Top Pak Islamic scholar issues 600-page ‘fatwa’ against terrorism, suicide bombings

Islamabad, Mar.19 (ANI): Influential Pakistani scholar Dr Tahir ul-Qadri has issued a 600-page ‘fatwa’ against terrorism and suicide bombing.

Speaking to reporters after releasing the ‘fatwa’ here, Qadri said suicide bombers are ‘destined for hell’ and that Islam does not support violence in any form.

“Terrorism is terrorism, violence is violence, and it has no place in Islamic teaching and no justification can be provided for it,” The News quoted Qadri, as saying.
Qadri said the Al-Qaeda has not been sufficiently challenged and that his global ruling against terrorism completely dismantles the banned terror organisation’s violent ideology.

In his 600-page ruling, Qadri said Islam forbids the massacre of innocent citizens and suicide bombings.

The fatwa also challenges the religious motivations of would-be suicide bombers who are inspired by promises of an afterlife. The famous Muslim scholar developed his document last year as a response to the sudden increase in suicide bombings across Pakistan.

The fatwa, which is being promoted in Britain by Qadri””s organisation, Minhaj ul-Quran International, covers global issues in an attempt to get its theological arguments taken up by Muslims in western nations.

Terming the fatwa as ‘hard hitting’, Minhaj ul-Quran International’s spokesperson Shahid Mursaleen said the ruling would inject doubt into the minds of potential suicide bombers.

“Extremist groups based in Britain recruit the youth by brainwashing them that they will with certainty be rewarded in the next life. Dr Qadri’s fatwa has removed this key intellectual factor from their minds,” Mursaleen said. (ANI)
