Good if men sleep after sex

According to a recent study by evolutionary psychologists at the University of Michigan and Albright College in Pennsylvania, the tendency to fall asleep first after sex is associated with greater partner desire for bonding and affection.

“The mo

re one’s partner was likely to fall asleep after sex, the stronger the desire for bonding,” explains Daniel Kruger, research fellow at the University of Michigan, and lead author of the study.

The study, published in December in the Journal of Social, Evolutionary, and Cultural Psychology, examined 456 participants, who completed anonymous online surveys assessing experiences and desires with one’s partner after sex. Participants then indicated “who falls asleep after sex?” and “who falls asleep first when going to bed not after sex?”

Participants whose partners nodded off immediately after sex had stronger desires for post-coital cuddling and chatting.

The study also looked at who were more likely – men or women – to fall asleep first. Despite the common stereotype, the researchers did not find it more common for men to fall asleep first after sex. Women, however, were more likely to fall asleep first when sex hadn’t taken place.

“Perhaps men stay awake longer as an artifact of mate guarding – making sure the woman doesn’t leave them for another partner,” says Hughes. “Men may also stay awake longer in an attempt to entice their partner into having sex.”

Post-sex etiquette

1. When the climax is reached and ended, do not rush to do anything but stay close to your partner.
2. You can softly mention how much you enjoyed what was done, and how good you now feel. Even if it’s necessary, wait a few moments before leaving the bed for the bathroom.
3. Maintain body contact.
4. Enjoy more intimacy by embracing your partner and give (and receive) more mutual caresses.
5. Don’t immediately check your mobile phone for messages or missed calls.

In NY, DSK sex charges may be dropped

NEW YORK: US prosecutors have “invited” the hotel maid, who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault , for a meeting here on Monday, a move which her lawyer says is a sign that prosecutors intend to drop the charges against the former IMF chief at a key hearing on August 23.

Lawyer for Nafissatou Diallo, Kenneth Thompson, said that he received a twoparagraph letter from Manhattan district attorney Cyrus Vance’s office saying the prosecutors would “like to invite” the maid for a meeting to explain “to her what I anticipate will occur in court on the following day” . Thompson said the letter is an indication that prosecutors would seek to have a judge “dismiss all or some charges” at court hearing in the case on Tuesday.

Indian Women of 35% beaten up at home: UN

NEW DELHI: The United Nations on Thursday deplored the miniscule 3% representation of women in India’s judicial system and claimed that 35% of fair sex face physical violence in the country.

UN women, a newly created body dedicated to gender equality and empowerment of women, it its report titiled ” Progress of the World’s Women” said India “significantly” lags behind the rest of the world in representation of the fairer sex in judicial system and justice is still out of reach for majority of the community.

Releasing the report, assistant secretary general of UN Women Lakshmi Puri termed it as”disappointing” the meagre representation of women in India’s judicial system saying gender equality was”key” for ensuring justice to the victims.

The report which examined a variety of issues like women’s access to judicial system and sexual harassment in countries accross the world also pointed towards high prevalence of physical and sexual violence against women.”It was found that 35% of respondents in India have reported to be victims of physical violence by their intimate partners, while 10% of respondents were victims of sexual violence by their intimate partners,” it said. The report also said that 39% of men and women think that it is”sometimes or always” justifiable for a man to beat his wife.

Quoting details of a survey carried out by NGO Sakshi to reflect upon the judicial system, it said majority of those surveyed feel that women who are abused by their spouses are to be blamed for their ordeal.

The report, however, complimented the Panchayati Raj system saying over a million women are actively participating in matters of local governance, policy formulation and decision making.”Almost 94% of elected women representatives reported being able to freely raise issues in gram sabha,” the report said, noting that several states have already reserved 50% seats for women in local bodies.

Azad’s ‘unnatural’ remark about gays causes uproar

NEW DELHI: For the Union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, men having sex with men (MSMs) is not only “unnatural” but also a “disease.”

According to Azad, “this disease has come to India from foreign shores”, and Indian society needs to be prepared to face it. Unfortunately, he said, the number of “such people” is increasing by the day.

In statements made while addressing zilla parishad chairpersons and mayors on HIV/AIDS on Monday, Azad said, “The disease of MSM is unnatural and not good for Indian society. It’s a challenge to identify such people. In case of female sex workers, we can identify the community and reach out to them since they live in clusters. But in case of MSMs, it isn’t always possible.”

These comments have not only caused uproar among civil society, but also in the National Aids Control Organization (NACO), which incidentally reports to Azad.

“How can this be a disease? It is just a form of sexual orientation. It’s definitely not unnatural,” a NACO official told TOI.

NACO has been working towards identifying MSMs and giving them a rightful place in society. A large number of targeted interventions (TI) have been put in place by NACO to specifically cater to the needs of the MSM community.

According to NACO’s latest surveillance data, India is home to an estimated 4.12 lakh MSMs of whom 2.74 lakhs have been identified.

Around 4.2% of all sexually-active males in India are believed to have sex with other men, with Chennai, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Orissa reporting the highest number of such cases. Of the total number of 1,511 TIs, 168 exclusively cater to MSMs. Each TI, catering to 1,000 MSMs, cost Rs 15 lakh.

The 2010 UNAIDS report on the global AIDS epidemic found that among the high-risk group that got HIV infection in India last year — 9.2% were intravenous drug users, MSMs (7.3%) and female sex workers (4.9%).

“MSMs are those who are involved in very high risk sexual behaviour. They usually have multiple partners. Some are also involved in commercial sex activities,” the report said.

Till now, a single TI would cater to MSMs and transgenders. Now, NACO has decided to have separate interventions for transgenders and MSMs.

Experts say that after Article 377 or homosexuality in India was decriminalized by the Delhi high court, virtually legalizing consensual sexual relation among adults of same gender, more MSMs started visiting TI sites.

“India has for long ignored the MSM community. India, like other Asian countries, had been addressing HIV/AIDS in high-risk groups such as female sex workers and injecting drug users, with the MSM population being left out because many men are married and do not identify themselves as gay or bisexual. That caused an alarming rise in HIV infections in the MSM community,” explained an expert.

Dr Charles Golks, head of UNAIDS in India, told TOI that MSMs are a key population, who are at higher risk of acquiring HIV and the Indian government’s initiatives is helping reduce the threat.

“India was the first country in Asia to recognize the vulnerability of the MSM population and put in place interventions required. NACO was also instrumental in putting down Section 377 that criminalized homosexuality as it was proving to be an impediment to effective public health intervention. In the next five years, under India’s National Aids Control Programme IV, stronger interventions with higher community involvement will be put in place to reach out to the MSM community.”

Data from 78 countries revealed that condom use among MSMs was more than 50% in 54 countries, including India.

Treat Asia’s report, “MSM and HIV/Aids: Risk in Asia”, which compiled studies conducted in 19 countries, said access to information and condoms is limited, with prevention programmes available to only 2% of MSMs in 16 Asia-Pacific countries. What’s worse, sex between men is illegal in 11 of the countries surveyed.

Ex-cop takes Underbelly case back to court

Former New South Wales police officer Wendy Hatfield is trying to appeal against a court ruling on the latest Underbelly TV series.

Ms Hatfield took Channel Nine to court demanding access to Underbelly episodes featuring a character based on her.

She argued the series could be defamatory because it is based on the book Underbelly: The Golden Mile.

Ms Hatfield said the book falsely claims she had a sexual relationship with nightclub boss John Ibrahim, was promoted in exchange for sex and guilty of misconduct.

A judge ruled in the Nine Network’s favour, saying the case was far from clear.

A three-judge panel in the Supreme Court has started hearing her application for leave to appeal that ruling.

Nine’s barrister has referred to the network’s right to “keep information confidential until its broadcast”.

Meet the man who dumps your lover for you over the phone – and posts it online!

Toronto, Mar 5 (ANI): Bradley Laborman calls and informs people that their lovers have dumped them, as part of his job.

The ‘IDUMP4U.com’ operator from Mount Pleasant, Iowa has made splitsville smoother with his unique e-business.

Laborman charges 10 dollars for the favor.

He also posts some of the heart-wrenching, sleazy and just-plain-uncomfortable recordings of the calls on his YouTube channel.

Laborman says he has got both young and old clientele and it is primarily female.

“I’ve had college kids, I’ve had older people. I think I had somebody who was at least 40 in a breakup situation. Surprisingly, it’s a lot more female – a lot more females are dumping males,” Globe and Mail quoted him as saying.

The 32-year-old man insists that people often find it impossible to break-up.

He added: “It’s fear. I had one guy who couldn’t do it because every time he tried to do it, he’d end up having breakup sex with her and get back together.

“He didn’t have the willpower to break up with her. I think a lot of them have tried a couple times to break up with the person, and it’s just not getting through to them.”

Apparently, Laborman finds it therapeutic to post the break-ups online.

He said: “It’s therapeutic. Somebody knows a person like that. I put it on there because if you think you’re in a bad relationship right now, listen to some of these dumps and realize you could have it a lot worse off.” (ANI)

Coming soon: a horror story on American Fritzl’s victim?

London, Sept 20 (ANI): Publishers and Hollywood studios have begun a multi-million dollar bidding war for the rights to sex slave Jaycee Dugard’s horrifying life story.

Fresh details of the American Fritzl’s victim have emerged, including that in the early days of her captivity, the terrified schoolgirl was so hungry she ate bugs and worms in the rambling back garden where she was held in tents and lock-up sheds, reports The Daily Express.

She had to use a garden hose to shower outside, even in winters, say detectives guarding her and her two daughters, fathered by kidnapper Phillip Garrido.

However, the public apparently is desperate for the full story of how Jaycee, now 29, survived after being snatched on her way to a school bus stop when she was only 11.

A New York literary agent, who estimates the book and film rights to be worth up to 12million dollars, said: “You couldn’t dream up a script like this. Americans can’t wait to hear the story from the girl who lived it.”

A Hollywood studio producer said: “Everyone is in the market for this story. Poor Jaycee’s life may have been hell for 18 years but she’ll never want for anything for the rest of it.”

Garrido, a registered sex offender, has been linked to six child abductions and murders stretching back years within a 400-mile radius of the ramshackle home in Antioch, California, where Jaycee was held. (ANI)

Now, unwed Malaysian couple to be whipped for trying to have car sex

Shah Alam (Malaysia), Sep. 18 (ANI): Following the whipping episode of the Malaysian model who was sentenced for drinking beer, an unmarried couple is now being subjected to the controversial canning sentence under the country’s Sharia law for trying to have sex.

Mohammad Shahrin Abd Majid, 29, and his lover Nadiah Najat Hussin, 24, pleaded guilty to attempting to have sex in a car, were fined 5,000 ringgits or 12 months’ jail and ordered to be caned six times each, the New Strait Times Online reports.

Both Shahrin and Nadiah have paid the fine. On Wednesday, the Sharia High Court of Shah Alam granted a stay on the caning pending an appeal following an application by the couple’s counsel.

The Court has also advised both accused to marry as soon as possible.

The couple had claimed that they were to be engaged soon, and scheduled to be married in February next year.

“You are still young… after Hari Raya seek consent from both your parents to marry,” he said.

Shahrin and Nadiah would be sent to prison in order to receive the caning if their appeal gets dismissed.

Earlier, former Malaysian model Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarno hogged the international headlines when she was sentenced for canning under Sharia law for drinking beer at a nightclub. (ANI)

Lap dancing, a routine part of British workplaces

London, Sept 18 (ANI): Lap dancing has become a part of British working life, a campaign group has said.

According to The Fawcett Society, which campaigns for women’s rights, companies in the UK are turning a blind eye to the use of sex clubs by workers.

The group found that some firms knowingly authorise the use of staff expenses for entertaining clients in lap dancing and strip clubs, reports The Telegraph.

After studying lap dancing clubs’ websites and contacting them directly to ask about their work with corporate clients, Fawcett researchers identified more than 300 such clubs in the UK.

Some 41 per cent of UK lap dancing clubs directly target employers through marketing on their websites, the researchers found.

Kat Banyard, the Fawcett Society researcher who wrote the report, described the sex industry as “a major threat to women’s equality at work”.

She said: “The sex industry is increasingly targeting the corporate market, with lap dancing clubs marketing themselves as ideal venues to host meetings and client entertaining. Yet lap dancing clubs are a form of commercial sexual exploitation and fuel sexist attitudes towards women. Their use in a work context discriminates against female employees and undermines women’s status at work.

She added: “For too long, employers have engaged with the sex industry without due regard for the impact on female employees, and have failed to prevent the illicit use of the sex industry by employees in a work context.” (ANI)

Now, ‘Australian Fritzl’ who raped daughter, fathered four kids emerges

Melbourne, September 17 (ANI): Lisa Neville, Australian Community Services Minister, has come under fire after huge number of bungling in the child protection services emerged, including a sex horror case of a man accused of fathering four children with his daughter.

Neville is expected to be faced with calls to resign after revelations of failed attempts by Victoria’s Department of Human Services (DHS) to conduct proper background checks on a known sexual predator before letting a child into his care.

The accused is said to have caged his daughter as a virtual prisoner, raping her almost daily from when she was 11 years old, reports the Herald Sun.

All the four kids bore by the woman, who is now under the care of authorities in a safe house, had health problems when delivered in major hospitals in Melbourne. One of the kids died soon after birth.

Their birth certificates do not hold the name of their fathers, prompting alarms as to why questions were not asked at the time.

The man denied the allegations, but was charged after DNA tests allegedly proved he was the father of her children. He is due to appear in court in November.

Comparisons have been drawn between the case and that of Josef Fritzl, the Austrian man who held his daughter as a sex slave for 24 years and fathered seven children with her.

Minister Lisa Neville told ABC Radio: “I was extremely appalled to see the allegations.”

“They are only allegations and are before the courts at the moment and we need to be very careful about how much detail we go into,” Neville said.

“I became aware of this from the media today and I don’t know what, or if, (there has been) any involvement of the police, the department or other agencies … over the past 30 years.

“This will be a priority to look into,” she added. (ANI)

Katona’s ‘hubby wants to leak couple’s sex tape on net to ease cash crisis’

London, Sept 16 (ANI): Already troubled Kerry Katona fears getting into more mess as hubby Mark Croft wants to sell off a steamy sex tape of the couple to alleviate their cash crunch, it has emerged.

Pals say Katona’s former taxi driver hubby tried to sell the idea to her, which has made the ex-Atomic Kitten even more anxious about losing the custody of her two daughters, Molly and Lilly Sue, to their father and divorced hubby Brian Nicholas McFadden.

“Mark’s not given up hope by any means. He thinks it’s a guaranteed earner, which could make them anything up to half-a-million,” a pal was quoted by the Daily Star, as saying.

Friends say the 39-year old Croft has no plans to change his mind and he intends to use the cash from the tape’s sale to fund his extravagant lifestyle.

A friend said: “Mark thinks he knows it all and is determined to take over every aspect of Kerry’s life. He thinks that a sex tape of them, which somehow found its way on to the internet, would earn them a lot of cash – at least 250,000 pounds and possibly as much as 500,000 pounds.

“Mark is absolutely obsessed with money and has told Kerry that it could be a life-saver for them, but at the moment she’s having nothing to do with it.

“She’s scared stiff of anything so tacky being the last stop in her attempts to hold on to her two little girls by Brian McFadden.” (ANI)
