Beatles were planning reunion before Lennon’s death

The singer admitted that though they were set to receive huge offers yet they believed it wouldn’t be as big as the 60′s.

“We talked about it a lot. And we always said that, if we did, it might not be great, whereas the Beatles career had been,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying.

“And even though the offers were huge, and there were sort of people going, ‘I’ll pay you this to do it,’ we talked about it and we sort of said, ‘Nah, this is it. There is something not right about it’ ,” he added.

McCartney believes they were an amazing band.

He added: “Looking back, you know, I’m a big Beatles fan. I think we were one hot band. And Ringo and I, whenever we get together, we look at each other and just go, ‘We were a damn good group. Great band’.”

McCartney was present with Ringo Starr, John’s widow Yoko Ono and George Harrison’s widow Olivia at the launch of The Beatles: Rock Band computer game and the new digitally remastered catalogue of albums.

He spoke about the game: “I think it’s really good. They have done really well in capturing our characters, which is one of the things we were careful about.

“We were very careful. We’d say, ‘Well, George wouldn’t move like that, Ringo didn’t drum like that, I would have had the guitar that way’

“The guys who made it started saying, ‘Well, we can do this and we can take you through your career, and we can start at The Cavern, then we do this and we get into the psychedelic period’.” (ANI)

Explicit US TV show casts strippers as extras

Wellington, September 13 (ANI): Producers of ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’, promoted in trailers as “the boldest show on television”, have cast strippers as extras.

The American TV production, that stars Kiwi actors Lucy Lawless, Guy Parker and Manu Bennett, previously raised eyebrows in the local film industry for its raunchiness, including explicit orgies and naked battle scenes in bath houses.

Extras through Go Wild Adult Entertainment, a company which supplies erotic dancers and jelly wrestlers, were said to have been hired, reports Stuff.co.nz.

Auckland stripper Ryan Marston said nearly 20 male and female local strippers were employed to work on the series, based on Spartacus, a Roman gladiator, who later became the leader of a major slave uprising against the Roman Republic.

The producers cast strippers since many actors were unaccustomed to simulating sex and spending long hours naked on set. (ANI)

The two were previously reported to have had heart-to-heart talks in secret over the summer, with Harry even promising a “no cheating” charter to prove he was serious.

The ex-wife of former ‘Beatle’ Sir Paul McCartney bought the swish three-bedroom London apartment for 2.35 million pounds.

The 41-year-old English campaigner was seldom there, and the flat in an exclusive area of north London remained empty.

She now reckons that the property can sell for 3.75 million pounds.

Heather is said to be planning to use the cash to expand her vegan food company into the US.

“Heather realises she has more homes than a person could ever need, so selling the flat makes sense. And if she can make a 50 per cent profit why shouldn’t she?” the News of the World quoted one of her friends as saying.

This week Heather put the apartment up for sale.

She is selling it furnished, complete with a silver Buddha in the marble hall and king-sized bed in the main, gold-clad bedroom.

Ever since her divorce in February last year, Heather is said to have spent up to 15 million pounds on properties, holidays and staff wages.

Her friend said: “She has decided to speculate to accumulate.” (ANI)

Abba’s music won’t feature in ‘Mama Mia’ sequel

London, September 13 (ANI): Abba’s Benny Andersson has said that even if there is a sequel to the hit movie musical ‘Mama Mia,’ it won’t feature the band’s music.

The co-writer of the group’s hits said the band wouldn’t be doing another musical.

“No, it’s not going to happen. There will not be another, quote unquote, Abba musical,” the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

Rumors had spread that there would be a follow up to the 2008 hit after Meryl Streep said that she would like to reprise her role in a “Grand Mamma Mia.”

However, Andersson has dampened it by saying that he will not permit his back catalogue to be used.

But he has left open the prospect that the film’s producers might approach another artist to create a soundtrack.

He said: “Catherine Johnson [Mamma Mia screenwriter] is keen on working on something that has to do with her characters in the Mamma Mia movie – but it will not be with Abba music.” (ANI)

Her confession comes at a time when she is rumoured to be pregnant with her current beau Javier Bardem’s child.

Sir Elton John plans to adopt 14-month-old Ukranian boy

London, September 13 (ANI): Sir Elton John is planning to adopt a child from Ukraine with partner David Furnish.

The singer revealed that a 14-month-old boy called Lev has apparently “stolen his heart.”

The child had performed at an orphanage in Ukraine while the ‘Candle In The Wind’ hitmaker was on a visit.

The 62-year-old confessed that he had always avoided adopting someone because of his age and continuous tours.

“David and I have always talked about adoption, David always wanted to adopt a child and I always said ‘no’ because I am 62 and I think because of the travelling I do and the life I have, maybe it wouldn’t be fair for the child,” the BBC News quoted him as saying.

“But having seen Lev today, I would love to adopt him. I don’t know how we do that but he has stolen my heart. And he has stolen David’s heart and it would be wonderful if we can have a home. I’ve changed my mind today,” he added.

The death of Elton’s long-term keyboardist, Guy Babylon, has influenced him too.

He said: “Last week I lost one of my best friends; my keyboard player died of a heart attack at 52.

“It broke my heart because he was such a genius and so young and has two wonderful children.

“What better opportunity to replace someone I lost than to replace him with someone I can give a future to.” (ANI)

Lewis Hamilton ‘dumps’ Nicole Scherzinger

London, September 13 (ANI): Lewis Hamilton has reportedly split with his Pussycat Dolls girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, telling her he is not prepared to settle down with her and have kids.

“Lewis was adamant the relationship had come to an end,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

“He was feeling under pressure to take their union to the next level and he wasn’t wanting to become engaged, get married or think about having children.

“He’s young, they spend an awful lot of time apart and he’s just not ready to leave his youth behind for a lifetime with Nicole.

“He found the tribulations of having a long-distance relationship very challenging indeed.

“Nicole’s mortified – she imagined being with Lewis for a long time and she’s shocked that things have ended so suddenly,” the source added. (ANI)

‘Mysterious messages’ penned by MJ in final hours emerge

London, September 13 (ANI): A string of messages penned by Michael Jackson in his final hours have come to light.

Post-its notes and sheets of paper, scribbled as “wishes for the world” have reportedly been found on the mirror in the late singer’s bathroom.

The notes allegedly show the King of Pop’s bizarre state of mind before he died of drug addiction on June 25, reports the News of the World.

Pals of the singer believe Jackson was using the notes as means to prepare himself for his comeback concerts in London.

Note number one, found on the right of Jackson’s gold-framed mirror, apparently read: “I am so grateful that I am a magnet for miracles.”

Note number two, pinned to the bottom of the mirror, a message in large handwriting said: “Love, no violence ever!” And underneath, in smaller handwriting, he had added: “Remember a beautiful future promise of tomorrow.”

Note number three was a startling reminder to perform the hit charity single he recorded with soul legend Lionel Ritchie in 1985, saying: “Do We Are The World in show”.

Note number four read “Call Temperton”, referring to British songwriter and producer Rod Temperton, who co-wrote several Jackson songs including Thriller and Rock With You.

A source said: “It’s worrying that he had to write reminders about things as obvious as these while he was rehearsing for his tour…But the drugs he was taking obviously had a huge impact on his mind and memory.” (ANI)

New Bluetooth alarm won’t let you lose your mobile again

London, September 13 (ANI): A firm in Edinburgh has designed a Bluetooth-based alarm that can tell absent-minded technology geeks when they have left their mobile phone or laptop behind.

The device called ‘Nio’, a result of years of research, is soon to hit the shops.

A report on this innovation describes it as a keyring-sized box of tricks that emits an alarm whenever a person’s device is more than a certain distance away.

It uses Bluetooth technology to create an invisible wire, and whenever this wire is broken-for example, when the user leaves the phone behind-both it and the keyring emit a shrill alarm sound.

Nio is the brainchild of 34-year-old gadget whizz Ben Hounsell, director of Tenbu Technologies based in Giles Street.

He says that the alarm may also make it easy to spot a potential theft.

He, however, advises people against challenging the thieves if their pockets start screaming.

“My advice would be don’t be a hero. Most thieves are opportunistic and the chances are if the mobile is attracting attention they’ll just drop it and run,” the Scotsman quoted him as saying.

Nio can be set to go off anywhere between two and 25 metres, and it can emit a police siren, a whoop or a Catchphrase buzzer sound.

Hounsell said: “We see this device as a ‘gadget guardian’ – it’s there to protect your device if it gets mislaid or stolen. The name Nio comes from Japan and is named after the fearsome looking statues outside Japanese Bhuddist temples that are there to protect the temple. Tenbu are the guardians of Bhuddist law in Japan. The names will also appeal to Japanese customers, who are well known for their love of gadgets, especially computers and smart phones.”

The device is currently available on their website www.bluenio.com.

Its creators are said to be in talks to sell it through Amazon within the next few months, and a number of High Street hardware stores by next year.

They have also approached government and health authorities with the advice that their innovation may prove helpful in preventing personal data and devices. (ANI)
