Britney’s ‘too provocative’ fans kicked out of concert venue

New York, Aug 28 (ANI): It has been revealed that fans at pop princess Britney Spears’ concert at Madison Square Garden had to be evicted from the show for dancing “too provocatively” at their seats.

Of those, who had been yanked out by security guards on August 25, was Sandra Ion, a Dramatics hair salon manager.

“I guess there had been a complaint from someone in our section that our dancing was too risqui,” the New York Post quoted her as saying.

“Meanwhile, Britney is onstage gyrating half-naked and singing ‘Get Naked’. It was totally ridiculous. They should have just moved whoever complained instead of all of us,” she added.

Ion said that guards forced her and her pals, including Amanda Lapore’s stylist Harliquin, to miss three songs, and Garden management refused to reimburse them.

A representative for the Garden did not return a call for comment. (ANI)

Girl nicknamed Human Tortoise finally comes out of her shell

London, Aug 26 (ANI): A Brit girl, who earned the nickname Human Tortoise for the body cast she had to wear, has finally been able to get rid of it after 12 years.

Megan Parker, who lives with mum Tina, dad Robert and brother Zac in Colchester, Essex, was diagnosed with curvature of the spine at just six weeks old, and, at 18 months, she was given the “shell” to help correct her twisted back.

She has had to undergo more than 40 operations, including repeated surgery to tighten titanium rods as she grew.

But now, at age 14, she is free to look forward to a normal life.

“There is so much that I want to do now, but I have to take things steady because it’s still early days,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

“It has completely opened up the world to me.

“I could never wear girly clothes before – and I had never had my hair cut at a salon because I couldn’t bend my head over the sinks. It just shows why you should never give up hope,” she said.

Megan has even proved that she’s on track for a full recovery by taking up go-karting.

“Driving a go-kart was one of the first things she had wanted to do and it brought tears to our eyes when she finally did it,” Tina, 39, said.

“She is my miracle girl – she’s been through so much. The surgeons have been incredible and have transformed her life.

“She can play with friends as she has always wanted to. I feel like my little girl has finally come out of her shell – in both ways,” she added. (ANI)

MJ’s daughter Paris’ cut hair seized by minders to avoid DNA tests

London, Aug 26 (ANI): After late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris had her hair cut, her minders are said to have seized the cuttings immediately to prevent DNA tests on them.

The incident took place after Paris, 11, had her hair trimmed at a salon in Las Vegas on August 23, reports the Sun.

Her locks were swept from the floor as soon as she had her hair cut, and stored in plastic bags to stop anyone taking them.

If DNA tests were carried out, they could settle speculation as to whether Jacko was the biological dad of Paris and her brothers Michael, 12, and Blanket, seven.

The star is alleged to have used sperm and eggs donated by pals, with former actor Mark Lester saying he is Paris’ real dad. (ANI)

Pretending to be someone else is “like a drug”, says Penelope Cruz

Washington, Aug 21 (ANI): Penelope Cruz has said that she is hooked on to disguising herself because of the rush it gives her.

The actress feels the habit of assuming someone else’s identity is “like a drug.”

The ‘Broken Embraces’ star revealed that she first started impersonating people in her mother’s beauty parlour when she was just a child.

“I would play with my girlfriends, pretending to be somebody else and I started to notice that that feeling was like a drug for me,” Contactmusic quoted her saying.

She added: “My mother’s beauty salon was the best acting school for me. I don’t know why, but women in a hair salon share their deepest secrets.

“I was 11 and I would sit there and pretend I was doing my homework but actually I was observing all of those women.”

The stunner also spoke about the difficulties of acting in a film.

She explained: “I always feel scared and insecure on a film set. I don’t know any other way. Most of the hours you spend on set you are actually trying to hold on to the emotions of your character.

“Sometimes you will do a close up where you are totally distraught, then shoot the rest of that scene seven hours later. How do you hang on to that feeling all day without burning up, without going so far you’ve got nothing let to give when the cameras roll again. That’s a little bit like playing with fire.” (ANI)

Palin e-mails show infighting with staff

Washington, July 2 (ANI): The tension between Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and top McCain campaign aides in the closing days of presidential campaign is elucidated in a profile in the new issue of Vanity Fair.

Internal campaign e-mails exchanged three weeks before Election Day, offer a rare look at just how frustrated the then Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin had become with the manner in which top McCain campaign aides were handling her candidacy.

The e-mails, obtained exclusively, also highlight the power struggle and thinly veiled acrimony that pervaded the relationship between Palin and the campaign’s chief strategist, Steve Schmidt.

CBS News’ Scott Conroy and special contributor Shushannah Walshe, who are writing a book about Palin, reveal how the mutual frustrations went even further than what has been disclosed so far.

The episode in question began when an investigative report published on the left-leaning Web site Salon.com raised questions about Palin’s relationship with members of the Alaska Independence Party (AIP) when she was mayor of Wasilla.

The AIP’s platform calls for a vote giving Alaskans the option to secede from the United States. It had already been widely known that Todd Palin was a registered member of the AIP from 1995 to 2002 and that Governor Palin had taped a recorded greeting at the party’s 2008 convention.

On the morning of October 15, Palin was aboard her campaign jet and en route to New Hampshire when she happened to catch a disparaging CNN segment that touted the Salon.com story, complete with a provocative graphic at the bottom of the screen reading, “The Palins And The Fringe”.

While shaking hands after a rally later that afternoon, someone on the rope line shouted a remark at Palin about the AIP, CBS News reported.

The comment set her off. She worried that the campaign was not sufficiently mitigating the issue of her alleged connection to the party, which despite a platform that harkens more to the Civil War than the 21st century, continued to play a serious role in Alaska politics.

Palin blasted out an e-mail with the subject line “Todd” to Schmidt, campaign manager Rick Davis and senior advisor Nicolle Wallace, copying her husband on the message.

Schmidt hit “reply to all” less than five minutes after Palin’s e-mail was sent. “Ignore it,” he wrote. “He was a member of the AIP? My understanding is yes. That is part of their platform. Do not engage the protestors. If a reporter asks say it is ridiculous. Todd loves America.” (ANI)

Malay women queuing for refreshing spa and salon services in jail

Kuala Lumpur, June 22 (ANI): Women are increasingly queuing up to go to the Kajang Prison (women’s wing) in Malaysia, which has opened spa and salon services.

Since it opened its doors to the public last December, scores of women have been regular visitors to the Kajang Prison spa and salon, especially on weekends when it becomes very difficult to get an appointment.

The spa authorities say that the purpose behind starting the spa was to teach skills to women prisoners, some of them foreigners, who were ironically thrown behind bars for working illegally in beauty and massage parlours.

Warder Corporal Rahmah Zawawi, who has been attached with the prison for the past 22 years, revealed that watching the success of the spa and salon training, some private beauty parlour owners even inquired whether they could hire the prisoners. But we had to turn them down as they are only allowed to work within the prison premises,” New Strait-Times Online quoted Rahmah as saying.

According to Rahmah, most of the women working at the prison spa and salon were those serving jail terms of six months or less.

“Currently, seven girls are working in the salon and all of them are Indonesians. They are in jail because they did not have valid travel or work documents. We don’t allow those with dangerous criminal records to work here,” Rahmah said.

She further said that apart from the quality of services provided at the spa, its cheaper rates also attracted women.

“Tell me where can you get a sauna, scrub and facial for only RM85?” she asked.

The services are only open to women clients.

“All they have to do is inform the guard that they have an appointment with us and drive straight in,” Rahmah said of her women clients.

The prisoners are trained by warders who have substantial knowledge in the beauty business.

The training is a continuous affair because it is provided only to short-term prisoners, and the “staff” turnover is high.

“We don’t mind that we keep training and training prisoners all the time. This gives the women a chance to start a new life when they get out,” Rahmah said. (ANI)

Britain’s Got Talent bosses frantic over Susan Boyle’s brunette looks

London, Apr 24 (ANI): Britain’s Got Talent’s singing sensation Susan Boyle’s new brunette look has got bosses on the ITV1 talent show frantic, as they had wanted to keep her just the way she was ahead of the finals.

Boyle, 48, went for a 35 pounds hair makeover and got her wiry grey locks coloured brown, and straightened.

“It wouldn’t be right to dye her hair and suddenly make Susan all glam. People have fallen in love with the real Susan. We don’t want to change what they fell in love with,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

The singer, who refused to discuss her new hairstyle, and kept it hidden beneath a shawl, spent 90 minutes at a salon near her home, and came out with a modern, wavy, brunette style to complement the slimmed-down eyebrows she’d had trimmed for 5 pounds days earlier.

Boyle had her hair done at the Miss Toner salon in Whitburn, near Blackburn, West Lothian by Caroline Boyle, 45, no relation of hers, along with a facial.

Salon management refused to comment on Boyle’s visit. (ANI)

‘Fungal infection makes Kate Moss stay away from booze’

London, April 17 (ANI): Kate Moss has been reportedly ordered to abstain from drinking due to her medication for a fungal infection on a foot.

The supermodel was said to have landed with the painful condition after getting a pedicure at a “cheap salon” in New York.

“Kate fancied a little pampering when she went to New York for the launch of her clothing range in Topshop,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

“She normally uses beauty salons in the five-star hotels she stays in but she decided to pop into a parlour in New York.

“She regrets the decision now as the nail on her big toe on her right foot has turned yellow and has become really thick and ugly. She is certain she caught a fungal infection from the cheap salon,” the source added.

The 35-year-old had been allegedly looking forward to spending the weekend with beau Jamie Hince at the Coachella Festival in California.

The source added: “Kate was looking forward to letting her hair down with Jamie at the festival. But she knows she’s going to have to lay off the booze for the duration due to her medication.” (ANI)

The French chateau-style mansion once belonged to film and television producer Aaron Spelling, and now his widow Candy Spelling has put it on the market.

The mansion has 5,248 sq m of space on more than 1.86ha, and is the largest home in Los Angeles County.

Manscaping-the latest in thing for men

Melbourne, Mar 16 (ANI): Facials and waxing are no longer limited to women, for men are also indulging in the treatments with gusto.

The trend for men to experiment with creams and lotions has even given rise to a new word: Manscaping.

Cleansers and moisturisers are now as important for men as a razor and shaving cream.

Construction project manager Russell Thompson goes for facials and massages every four to six weeks.

“It has paid off,” the Daily Telegraph quoted him as saying.

“I think people guess my age as younger than I am. I go to the beach a lot and work outside so my skin gets quite fried, so it seems to offset that,” he added.

Paul Anderson Mankind, from Surry Hills salon specialising in male skincare, serves about 500 male customers a month.

“The people that come in here don’t see it as a luxury. They see it more as a necessity,” Anderson said.

The clientele range from proud metrosexuals to train drivers to landscapers.

“We have train drivers, landscapers, a chippie. We’ve even had a few guys who were working on a nearby construction site,” he said.

“When we started it was the corporate types who came but as we’ve gone along it’s been really across the board,” Anderson added.

With specialist websites like Himage.com.au offering male-grooming supplies, more and more men are embracing beauty products.

“We see the guy buy the shave product, then he comes back two months later and buys the cleanser,” said former accountant Chris Cassar, who developed the website.

“They gradually get into it. We think a lot of Australia right now is still at that early stage,” he added. (ANI)

Aniston’s $56,000 hair styling is worth it, claim experts

New York, Mar 6 (ANI): Jennifer Aniston’s 56,000 dollars a week pay out to bring her hairstylist along on her ‘Marley and Me’ Europe tour might have raised many eyebrows, but elite stylists have claimed that such a fee is totally worth it.

Legendary hair stylist Edward Tricomi, co-founder of the elite Warren Tricomi salons, says that such a jaw-dropping sum for hair like Aniston’s is worth every penny.

“You can’t put any price on it – it’s priceless,” the New York Daily News quoted Tricomi as saying.

Tricomi even likened Aniston and her pricey locks to a farmer, who might need a 4,000 dollars part to repair his tractor.

He said: “For celebrities, hair, make-up and stylists are exactly like that tractor part. They are the ones who create that aura for the celebrity and her look. These people are much in demand, so they’re worth every single penny they get – and more.”

Fellow stylist Philip Pelusi seconded Tricomi’s opinion by saying: “The most important accessory that you own is your hair.”

He further said that he “can understand” why some stylists charge so much to travel with a star.

“It’s not that the hairdresser wants to overcharge, but they need to make up what they lose in the salon,” he said.

Tricomi also pointed out that stylists like Chris McMillan, who is Jennifer Aniston’s mane man, are originators and not imitators, and their styles are the ones which are copied around the world.

“We’re the people who are creating the trends. It’s short-lived and other people collect on that,” he said.

Talking of some stylists’ astronomical fees, Pelusi said: “Even I’ve cringed on occasion.”

But, in his opinion, McMillan’s fee is not outrageous, and so believes Tricomi.

“I know mostly everybody would say this is really crazy, but most people don’t have a job like this,” said Tricomi. (ANI)

Aniston, Klum’s bad ‘hair-day’ at Oscars

Washington, Feb 28 (ANI): Actress Jennifer Aniston and model Heidi Klum were judged to have had a bad hairdo at the recent Academy Awards.

Beverly Hills hairstylist Tina Dizon of the famed Juan Florentino Salon gave her opinion about the two.

“Aniston’s braid, it was a little outdated and casual. She’s such a beautiful person that I think it’s time she should break away from the safety of her hair,” Fox News quoted her as saying.

“And Heidi Klum is usually always a knock out, but her hairstyle was a little too slick, which made her hair colour too obvious – too light in front and the dark and light of her colours are too noticeable,” she stated.

As per Dizon, the two were not the only ones, as Melissa George, Lisa Rinna and Mickey Rourke also sported hairdos that were not fashionable. (ANI)

When Penelope Cruz asked a hairdresser for b**w j*b!

“When I was in high school I studied French, so I learned English late,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

“When I first came to America I made a lot of mistakes, like going to the hair salon and asking for a b**w j*b instead of a blow dry,” she added. (ANI)
