Sacha Baron Cohen’s painful encounter with bleaching process

London, May 8 (ANI): Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen was left in so much pain after a body bleaching process went insanely wrong that he could not sit for three days.

Baron decided to bleach his body to fit into his character of a gay Austrian fashion reporter in his forthcoming flick ‘Bruno’, as he was told that mostly gays are hairless. He thought that bleaching would make his hair invisible.

However, things took a turn for worse when the bleaching gave him a burning rash , which needed emergency treatment.

“Sacha is committed to as much realism as he can muster in his films. Gay. He’d heard that all-over hairlessness is a popular trend in the gay community, so he thought he’d bleach all his hair so it looked invisible,” The Sun quoted a source as saying.

“But it quickly turned into a disaster. Shortly after having the procedure done he felt a burning sensation and it grew steadily worse. He had a bad allergic reaction to hydrogen peroxide, which is a strong bleaching agent. It was so severe around a certain part of his anatomy that he couldn’t sit down for three days,” the source added.

Baron then met doctors and got rid of the rash within a few days.

However, his crew members could not help but laugh, as Baron could not even sit for three days due to which the shooting was delayed.

“He had to make an emergency appointment with the doctors, who gave him some medication to counter the irritation,” the source said.

“Crew members found the whole incident hilarious and it slowed down filming for a bit, but Sacha soon got over the discomfort. He has suffered no long-lasting ill effects,” the source added.

Bruno is due to hit cinemas on July 10. (ANI)

How Paula Abdul fell prey to one of Sacha Baron Cohen’s pranks

Washington, May 1 (ANI): Paula Abdul has admitted to be tricked by Sacha Baron Cohen, as she fell for one of his pranks in his upcoming film ‘Bruno’.

Speaking in an interview on 104.7 FM’s ‘Johnjay and Rich Show’, the American Idol judge said that she received a call that she had won “Artist of the Year” in Germany.

But, when the 46-year-old star went for a sit-down, someone called Bruno greeted her.

“I’m greeted by this futuristic, Captain Nemo-looking dude with a mohawk — and he’s flaming,” Us magazine quoted her as saying.

She added: “I’m like, ‘OK, this is weird. Is this a variety show or something like that?’ So I walk in and there was no furniture except for a chair. And I’m waiting and waiting.

“And this guy Bruno introduces himself, and I said, ‘Hi.’ And he said, ‘Here, have some food.’ And the food looked horrible! And I said, ‘No, I’m fine.’ And he said, ‘It’s very, very, very good.’ I said, ‘That’s Ok, I don’t want to have it.’”

Then, Bruno apologized for not having furniture for the interview.

Abdul recalled: “He snaps his fingers and says, ‘Gardeners!’ And these two Mexican guys come in, and they drop down to all fours. I see him paying them like 10 bucks. They drop down to all fours and he says [to me], ‘Sit down.’” And I said, ‘I’m not doing that!’”

“So I’m tipping and holding my core muscles to not sit on them. And he pushes me down on them, and I’m like, ‘I’m sorry!’” she said.

Paula said that it got even more bizarre when he kicked one of them and they all fell on the ground.

She said: “It was getting so uncomfortable! I’m throwing daggers with my eyes at my publicist. And they’re kicking my publicist out. And I said, ‘Get me out of here. This is crazy. This is not funny, this is discrimination. This is abusive stuff going on here!’

“And he says, ‘I need you to change your clothes,’ and I said, ‘No, I won’t be doing that. I have to go to work … And by the way, where’s my award?”

By that time, she has had enough and she dashed out while being followed by cameras.

“It was hysterical, but it was so disturbing. I was so mad at my publicist at that point. I said, ‘I can’t believe you signed [the release].’ And my manager and attorney were trying to call the production office — and, of course, it doesn’t exist. So I was freaking out,” added Abdul.

And it was after a year that her manager got a call from a reporter who heard that she had fallen for one of Sacha Baron Cohen’s stunts.

“I said, ‘I’ve never done anything with Sacha Cohen … they’re wrong!’ At 2 o’clock in the morning that night, I woke up in a cold sweat. I popped my body up out of bed and I went, ‘Holy crap! Oh my God!’ And that’s what happened. And I’m dying. Cause you don’t expect it. You just don’t expect it,” she said.

Abdul Added: “Like I said, I thought it was just one of those Japanese TV shows where they do crazy things.” (ANI)

Judge dismisses Sacha Baron Cohen’s ‘Da Ali G Show’ slander lawsuit

London, April 24 (ANI): A judge has dismissed the lawsuit a woman filed against British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen and his former show ‘Da Ali G Show.’

The woman filed the lawsuit over claims Cohen defamed her during a sketch on the show in 2004.

Throughout the legal proceedings, she was referred to only as Jane Doe but has now been named as Heddi Cundle, a British woman who lives in the U.S.

Cundle, who met Cohen 20 years ago in Israel, sued him after the comic used her name in a skit as wannabe rapper Ali G.

However, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Terry Friedman threw out the case, saying the show was obviously a spoof made for entertainment purposes.

“No reasonable person could consider the statements made by Ali G on the program to be factual. It is obvious that the Ali G character is absurd, and all his statements are gibberish and intended as comedy,” the Daily Express quoted Friedman as saying.

“The actor, Sacha Baron Cohen, never strays from the Ali G character, who is dressed in a ridiculous outfit and speaks in the exaggerated manner of a rap artist. Ali G’s statements are similarly absurd. The program is obviously a spoof of a serious interview program. No reasonable person could think otherwise,” Friedman added. (ANI)
