Katy Perry, Russell Brand’s wedding plans

London, May 16 (ANI): Katy Perry and Russell Brand are planning a small wedding focusing solely on their love for one another rather than having a ‘drunk fest’.

They will fly their select guests to a secret location for seven days of celebrations, it has emerged.

Katy”s pal Rihanna has suggested they could get hitched in India where Brand proposed on New Year”s Eve and it looks like the location could be Goa.

The couple has sent out save-the-date cards to friends and family for their wedding.

The henna-inspired hand-shaped invites, complete with diamond engagement ring, and hints at an exotic location.

Guests have only been told to keep the week of October 18 free for their nuptials – and they”d better bring their passport.

The text reads: “Save the Week, For the Wedding of Katy & Russell. You will be contacted soon with more information.”

“The wedding will be small. I always have a ton of people around me and I think the people that are going to share this moment with us are the people we want to integrate into each others” lives,” News of the World quoted Katy, 25, as saying.

“We don”t want it to be a drunk fest of people, just one night and then forgetting about it. We want it to be about the love,” she added. (ANI)

Universal Music admits piracy can’t be stopped

London, May 16 (ANI): Universal Music Group International, the world”s largest music company, has said that piracy cannot be stopped.

Francis Keeling, head of digital at Universal Music Group International, discussed the problem at the Great Escape music convention in Brighton.

“Are you going to stop piracy? No you”re not,” the BBC News quoted him, as saying.

He added: “To try and set that as an objective is just not going to succeed. Can we make piracy socially unacceptable?

“Absolutely, and that has to be our ambition around the world.”

He added: “We”ve got markets like Spain and Italy, where [people say] ”You buy music? What are you doing buying music when you can get it for free?”

“Clearly those markets are in the situation where, unless we can turn those markets around, we”re going to have a major problem having a music business there.”

Keeling is the person in charge of signing up artists including Lady Gaga, Eminem and Rihanna onto digital services outside North America. (ANI)

Rihanna tumbles over on stage during London show

London, May 14 (ANI): Rihanna was close to injuring herself again on her tour when she fell down a flight of stairs during her London show.

The ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker has suffered a series of nasty injuries on her current trek.

She was admitted to hospital in Switzerland last month after injuring her ribs, and then she slipped on stage at a concert in France, just a few days later.

Rihanna vowed to carry on despite the incidents and headed over to the U.K. earlier this month for a string of shows across the country.

However, when Rihanna appeared onstage to sing her hit ‘Te Amo’ at the O2 Arena, she took a tumble and landed on her backside, reports the Daily Star.

However, the singer is a true professional, as she promptly carried on with her set. (ANI)

Chris Brown ”making progress” on probation

London, May 08 (ANI): US singer Chris Brown, who assaulted ex-girlfriend Rihanna last year, has made further progress while on probation, a judge in Los Angeles has heard.

Brown has completed his 300 minutes of community service – roughly a fifth of the amount he is required to perform said his attorney, reports the BBC news.

He had also attended all but one of 52 mandatory domestic violence counselling sessions, said lawyer Mark Geragos.

Brown, 21, is due back in court on 26 August for another status hearing. He was sentenced to five years of probation last August and also six months of community labour after he was found guilty of assaulting Rihanna in their car on the eve of the 2009 Grammy Awards.

He later apologised saying that was “very sad and very ashamed” of his actions.

Patricia Schnegg the Superior Court Judge said on Thursday ‘it appeared the singer was making progress and requested a formal probation report.’ (ANI)

Rihanna confesses she’s in love with Matt Kemp

London, April 30 (ANI): Barbadian singer Rihanna has admitted being in love with boyfriend Matt Kemp.

Rihanna had earlier insisted that she and Kemp are just ‘good friends,’ reports The Mirror.

“I’m really happy right now. It’s an amazing city. I love it. It would have been so cool if he was here. I was hoping he would be able to come to London but he’s working,” the Rude Boy hitmaker said during her Last Girl on Earth Tour performance in Bercy Arena in Paris.

“And I’m touring and shooting videos for my next single so it’s going to be seven weeks before I see him again. It’ll probably be when I get back to America that we can hook up properly,” she added.

“We have to make do with Skype and phone, but I miss him. And this

is the most romantic town. I can’t wait to see him again,” the 22-year-old singer said. (ANI)

Katy Perry, Russell Brand to marry in Japan?

London, April 16(ANI): Katy Perry and Russell Brand are considering getting married in Japan, sources say.

Earlier, pop star Rihanna had revealed that the couple were planning to get hitched in India later this year.

However, the pair is keeping their options open.

“Russ and Katy are marrying at the end of the year, almost a year to the day he proposed,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

The insider added: “They originally planned to wed in India, in an intimate ceremony before close friends and family within the grounds of the Taj Rambagh Palace hotel, where Russell popped the question.

“They have a holding reservation but nothing is set in stone. The pair of them want to keep people guessing and on their toes – even their celeb pals.

“Whilst in LA, Russell told a couple of people that they were also considering Tokyo as a venue.

“It is a really buzzy, vibrant city and somewhere completely different and unique. Katy kept jokingly hitting Russell, telling him to keep his big mouth shut.

“But Katy really likes the idea of wearing some kind of Geisha-inspired bridal dress so it is a real possibility.” (ANI)

Winfrey comes out in defense of her decision to not support Brown

Washington, Sept 10 (ANI): Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has come out in defense of her decision to not to support Chris Brown, after the star slammed the TV titan for siding with ex-girlfriend Rihanna following the bust-up.

After Brown’s beating of Rihanna in February (09), Winfrey dedicated an episode of her hit daytime talkshow to the topic of domestic abuse and also advised the ‘Umbrella’ singer against the Brown.

However, Brown hit out at Winfrey insisting he had helped the media mogul out in the past.

He said, “I commend Oprah on being like, ‘This (abuse) is a problem’, but it was a slap in my face. I did a lot of stuff for her, like going to Africa and performing for her school. She could have been more helpful, like, ‘OK, I’m going to help both of these people out.’”

In an interview to Access Hollywood, Winfrey backed up her decision not to defend Brown, insisting that although she was grateful for his help during the opening of her African girls school, she does not condone domestic violence in any way.

“So this is what happened; Chris Brown did my show several years ago, I think it was 2007. Fun, fun time and afterward he said, ‘If there’s anything ever I can do for you then let me know.’ I almost never take anybody up on that… But my girls at the Academy in Africa love Chris Brown, love, love, love, love, love Chris Brown,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying. Jermaine Jackson backtracks on Chris Brown tribute announcement

London, September 10 (ANI): Jermaine Jackson has climbed down from his announcement that Chris Brown would form a part of the forthcoming concert in honour of his late brother Michael.

The former ‘Jackson 5′ member previously revealed Brown would be among a host of other artists to perform at the tribute set to take place in front of Vienna’s former imperial Schoenbrunn Palace on September 26.

But representatives for Brown, who is presently on probation for assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna earlier this year, subsequently denied the story, reports the Daily Express.

And now, Jackson has backtracked on his earlier announcement, saying he was only inviting the shamed singer to perform.

The 54-year-old said in a second press conference in London that he was not announcing headline acts but would like to see Brown be part of the show if he is allowed out of the U.S.

He said: “It’s up to the judge if he gets let out of the country or not. I’m not worried at all. He wants to be here. It’s just up to what he’s going through with his court case right now.

“He’s asked for forgiveness. If Christ can forgive him, so can we. People make mistakes, but he’s a wonderful performer.” (ANI)

Washington, Sept 5 (ANI): Chris Brown’s mother Joyce Hawkins misses his ex-girlfriend Rihanna and wishes to see her.

Contactmusic quoted Hawkins as saying: “I love Rihanna. She’s like a daughter. She became family to us. She’s spent Christmas with us for the last two years. I miss her a lot.”

Chris attacked Rihanna in his car as they left a pre-Grammy Awards party.

He later pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to six months of community service, 12 months of domestic violence counselling and five years probation. (ANI)

Rihanna wants ‘stay away’ ban lifted off Chris Brown

Melbourne, Sep 4 (ANI): Barbadian singer Rihanna is reportedly very furious and upset over the fact that her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown has been ordered to stay away from her.

Brown, 20, was formally sentenced on September 1 to five years probation for the February assault on Rihanna, and also to six months of community labour in Virginia.

He will be spending 1400 hours removing graffiti and washing cars.

He has also been ordered not to contact the ‘Umbrella’ singer in any way for the next five years.

He also must stay 100 yards from her, unless they are both at an entertainment-related event, in which he must stay 10 yards away.

But sources have revealed that Rihanna has been working to get Brown’s restraining order lifted.

“When Rihanna got word from her attorney that the judge refused to lift the ban, she was really upset,” News.com.au quoted an insider as having told Britain’s Now magazine.

“She started calling her friends and saying how stupid it was and that Chris would never hurt her again. She was really indignant about it,” the source added. (ANI)

Chris Brown to wash cars, pick up trash as assault punishment

Washington, Sept 4 (ANI): R and B singer Chris Brown will be washing cars, picking up trash and removing graffiti as a part of the community service ordered by court for assaulting Rihanna.

The 20-year-old star has been given five years probation and ordered to serve six months hard labour in his home state of Virginia after pleading guilty to assaulting the ‘Umbrella’ hitmaker in February (09), reports Contactmusic.

Brown’s punishment has been revealed in a letter from Richmond, Virginia Police chief Bryan Norwood to the court in Los Angeles where Brown was sentenced.

The letter reads, “It is my understanding that the Court desires the imposed community service to be labour intensive. Along those lines, we are prepared to put Mr Brown to work in the community performing manual labour tasks, such as graffiti removal, trash pick up, washing cars, cleaning, maintaining grounds, etc.”

Brown has also been asked to pick up the bill for extra security during his punishment in case members of the public find out his location.

The letter adds, “He will be responsible for paying any costs incurred regarding the facilitation of this arrangement to include adequate security from the public (in the event they become aware of his presence) and one-on-one supervision where special projects are instituted.” (ANI)

Chris Brown hopes to be back with Rihanna

Washington, September 3 (ANI): Chris Brown, who assaulted his ex girlfriend/singer Rihanna in February, has said that he wants to reunite with her.

“Us being friends for so long and not being able to see her and not speak to her, it’s hard… It’s difficult,” Contactmusic quoted him as telling in an interview with Larry King.

When the veteran newsman asked him if he ever hoped to be back with the ‘Disturbia’ singer, he said: “I’m young, I’m 20, (but) yes.”

He added he was “definitely” still in love with the pop sensation.

Court ordered Brown to stay away from Rihanna for the duration of his five-year probation period after he pleaded guilty of assaulting her, after a pre-Grammy Awards party in Los Angeles on 8 February. (ANI)

Ashamed Chris Brown clearly remembers the night he assaulted Rihanna

Washington, September 1 (ANI): Singer Chris Brown has said that reports on the net claiming he has forgotten what happened the night he assaulted his ex-girlfriend/singer Rihanna are false.

The Kiss Kiss hitmaker has called reports based on a clip of an interview with Larry King misleading.

“There have been reports on the Internet that I didn’t remember what happened that night with Rihanna. I want to try and set things straight,” People magazine quoted him as saying.

He said: “That 30 seconds of the interview they used of me was taken from a one hour interview during which that same question was asked something like four or five times – and when you look at the entire interview you will see it is not representative of what I said.

“The first four times – or however many times it was – I gave the same answer – which was that I didn’t think it was appropriate for me to talk about what happened that night. I said it was not right for me and it really wasn’t fair to Rihanna. The fifth time or whatever it was – I just misspoke. I was asked, ‘Do you remember doing it?’ and I said, ‘No.’

“Of course I remember what happened. Several times during the interview, my mother said that I came to her right afterwards and told her everything. But it was and still is a blur.

“And yes, I still can’t believe it happened because it is not me or who I am, nor is what happened like anything I have ever done before.

“As I have said several times previously, I am ashamed of and sorry for what happened that night and I wish I could relive that moment and change things, but I can’t. I take full responsibility for my actions.

“What I have to do now is to prove to the world that this was an isolated incident and that is not who I am, and I intend to do so by my behavior now and in the future.”

Brown has been ordered 180 days community labour and five years probation for assaulting Rihanna. (ANI)
