Ricky Martin revives racy nude concert video

New York, Apr 17 (ANI): Ricky Martin recently posted a link on Twitter to a 2007 video he shot to promote his “Black & White” concert tour.

Titled “My Skin Talks,” the 2-minute video shows Martin baring all.

Over 800,000 of Martin”s followers on Twitter received a link to the racy video.

Kirby slams government inaction on same-sex marriage

A former High Court justice would swap 10 judges for one honest homosexual like singer Ricky Martin, a conference in Brisbane has been told.

Michael Kirby, former Justice of the High Court of Australia, opened and closed his keynote address at the second International Queer Studies Conference on Thursday by playing Martin’s song Livin’ La Vida Loca.

Justice Kirby, who revealed he was gay while serving on the High Court, praised the singer for coming out about his homosexuality.

“At the beginning of this month Ricky Martin said, I quote: ‘The secret has become too heavy for me to keep inside, so joyfully I embrace my homosexual identity as something worth celebrating’,” Justice Kirby said.

“He’s not a philosopher but what he said was very powerful and spoke of an oppression that was forced on him and forced on many people in society and I would trade 10 judges of the highest court for one person like Ricky Martin.”

While he had praise for the Latino pop star, Justice Kirby had criticism for the Federal Government over its inaction in introducing laws which acknowledge same-sex marriages.

“The present Federal Government have not thought it timely to attack the issue [of legalising gay marriages]. It has of course been debated in party conferences,” he said.

“It has also been agitated in the trade union movement but so far it hasn’t secured anybody in the Federal Parliament, in the Labor Party to champion the cause.

“Peter Garrett (federal Environment Minister) was reported as having at one stage supported gay marriages and there would be people from both sides of Federal Parliament who would support it.

“But at the moment they are hiding their heads and they are not doing much about it.”

He said the Opposition was no better, quoting Leader Tony Abbott as saying: “From a conservative point of view it would be a good thing to encourage stable relationships”.

Justice Kirby said strong religious beliefs promoting only the union of a man and a woman was holding the country back from granting gay people the right to marry, but he believes reform will come.

“Labor Party circles always include in Australia a component of people from the Irish Australian background and therefore often from a Roman Catholic upbringing … a cohort in the Labor Party which generally supports confining marriage to people of the opposite sex,” Justice Kirby said.

“That’s where we stood at the time of the 2007 election.

“My partner and I have discussed the issue and probably would not get married if there were such a law because we have stuck it out for 41 long years and the idea of getting married we haven’t fully embraced.”

But he said he understood why other homosexual partners wanted the right to marry because it represented equality of citizenship.

The conference, being held at the Queensland University of Technology, finishes on Saturday.

Ricky Martin confirms he’s gay

Singer Ricky Martin has confirmed rumours that he is gay.

In a statement on his website, Martin announced: “I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am.”

Speculation about the 38-year-old Latino singer’s sexuality has raged for years, but he has never directly addressed it and was usually seen with beautiful female partners.

The singer – a father of twins boys from a surrogate mother – says writing his memoirs helped him realise that he had to be free with himself and not keep any more secrets.

“Today is my day, this is my time and this is my moment,” he said.

Martin’s autobiography is yet to be published.

Becoming a dad has been my life’s most spiritual moment: Ricky Martin

New York, Aug 20 (ANI): Ricky Martin has said that becoming a father has been “the most spiritual moment” of his life.

The pop singer welcomed twins, Matteo and Valentino, who were delivered via surrogacy, in August last year.

The Grammy Award winner shared photos of himself with his 1-year-old twin sons enjoying their day at a beach in Miami.

“I’m so happy. Everything they do, from smiling to crying, feels like a blessing. Being a father feels amazing. This has been the most spiritual moment in my life,” the New York Daily News quoted him as saying.

The ‘She Bangs’ hit maker insists that he loves being a full-time nanny as he does not want to miss even a single moment of parenthood.

“I don’t have a nanny. I’m doing this on my own because I don’t want to miss a moment,” he said. (ANI)

Ronaldo plans on making team-mates listen to Ricky Martin’s albums

London, May 14 (ANI): Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he is such a fan of Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin and his song ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ that he plans on having his team-mates listen to it.

“Ricky’s tunes are very catchy. Livin’ La Vida Loca is his most catchy by far and it is my most favourite,” the Sun quoted the 24-year-old Man United ace as saying.

“Maybe I’ll take it into the dressing room.

“Rio Ferdinand likes a good dance so, you never know, it would only take one of the lads to get up dancing and the whole dressing room would be up,” he said.

Ronaldo has another favourite singer in mind, R and B star R. Kelly and his hit ‘I Believe I Can Fly’.

“That is without doubt my favourite song in the world,” he said.

“R. Kelly is a great artist and the words to that song are a real inspiration to me,” he explained.

But unlike the winger, his team-mates prefer to grind to a different kind of music.

“You hear them in the dressing room listening to The Prodigy and you can see why, it’s great to get you pumped up,” he added. (ANI)

Tata Nano finally goes on sale across India, AS

Thursday, R. Sampathkumar signed a check for 3,809 rupees ($78) and ordered his first car: a Tata Nano. Bookings for the ultracheap car, which retails for 100,000 rupees ($2,050) plus tax and transport fees, opened Thursday across India.

Sampathkumar, who is 30 years old and single, makes about 20,000 rupees a month ($410) as a goldsmith and says he wants a Nano for “status.” “Automatically, women will come forward,” he said, grinning.

Dozens gathered Thursday to gawk at the silver Nano sitting on a red platform with pink satin skirting at the Tata dealership in Coimbatore, a mid-sized manufacturing hub in southern India. Two DJ’s blasted Backstreet Boys, Ricky Martin and Madonna songs, while college kids snapped photos of the snub-nosed car on their cell phones.

Despite the festivities, analysts say Nano sales won’t do much in the short term to help debt-strapped Tata Motors, which is facing falling sales and is in talks with banks to refinance a $2 billion loan it took out to buy Land Rover and Jaguar from Ford last year. Vaishali Jajoo, auto analyst at Mumbai’s Angel Broking, estimated that even if Tata Motors manages to sell 250,000 Nanos a year, it will only add 3 percent to the company’s total revenues.

Production constraints mean Sampathkumar won’t get his new Nano until July, at the earliest. Violent farmer protests forced Tata to relocate at the last minute a factory that was to exclusively build Nanos, and the replacement won’t be operational before year’s end.

Customers who want to buy the Nano must pay 300 rupees for an application form, then pay the entire cost of the car or get financing from one of 18 banks Tata Motors made special arrangements with. Tata will accept orders until April 25 and then randomly select 100,000 people who will get the first shipment of vehicles.

Everyone else will have to wait. Tata will pay interest on booking deposits: 8.5 percent for people who have to wait one to two years to get their Nano, and 8.75 percent for those who hold out longer.

Tata spokesman Debasis Ray said the company would not release data on the number of orders until after the process closed, but added that “the signs are encouraging.” He said 300,000 people had visited Tata’s 400 showrooms across the country since the car went on display April 1.

In the last two weeks, the Nano Web site has gotten 20 million hits, he said. K. Thamilarasu, the divisional sales manager for Tata Motors in Coimbatore, said 21 people paid for the car in full at his dealership Thursday.

Another 19 made downpayments for financing arrangements. “I have been in this field three decades,” Thamilarasu said.

“This is the first time we are noticing a revolution.” Rajeswari Nandagopal, a teacher, paid 300 rupees for a booking form because she wants to buy a Nano for her son, 17, who currently rides a motorbike.

“These days going on two-wheelers is a great risk,” she said. J. Rathimasawamy, 70, a retired schoolmaster, said he sold his Maruti WagonR two months ago because he wants to buy a Nano.

“It’s the cheapest,” he said. Rathimasawamy, a wiry man with white hair and a dusty pair of flip-flops, took a bus from his home 25 miles (40 kilometers) away to buy a booking form.

Vijayakumar Jayabal, 50, a policeman who earns 12,000 rupees ($246) a month, said he wants to buy a Nano because he can’t squeeze his family of four onto his motorbike. “We only fit three people maximum,” he said.

Cat Deeley finds Tom Jones the hottest hunk

London, Apr 6 (ANI): Brit television presenter Cat Deeley has revealed that she finds Welsh singer Sir Tom Jones to be the hottest hunk she has ever interviewed.

Deeley, 32, revealed how she had thought the Puerto Rican singer would exude all the charm when Jones, 68, and Ricky Martin, 37, were on the same show.

“I thought Ricky was going to be the phwoar one, but you know what? Tom won it hands down,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

“He’s just very manly and he smells of aftershave. Ooh,” she exclaimed.

The former SMTV host also revealed that she was very shy around boys, and would not dare make eye contact with them if she liked them.

“I’m rubbish at giving out signs. If I fancy someone I won’t even look at them. I just keep my head down,” she added. (ANI)
