Two Red Arrows jets collide over Crete

Two RAF Red Arrows jets collided above the Greek island of Crete on Tuesday during a training exercise, a Greek Defence Ministry official said.

One pilot was injured after ejecting from his Hawk jet while the other made an emergency landing in Crete and was unhurt.

“The pilot who ejected has broken his legs. He is being transferred to an Athens hospital,” said the official.

He said the display team had been trying out new formations but had no further details.

With their trademark red, white and blue vapour trails, the Red Arrows are a familiar sight at British ceremonial occasions and international air displays. They are expected to appear at the London 2012 Olympics.

Greece approves Abu Dhabi MAR’s offer for shipyard

ATHENS, March 1 (Reuters) – Greece said on Monday it approved Abu Dhabi MAR’s (ADM) offer for ThyssenKrupp-owned (TKAG.DE) Hellenic Shipyards (HSY), the press ministry said.

“The new joint scheme will be led by ADM which will hold 75.1 percent of the share capital of Skaramanga shipyard, with ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems participating with 24.9 percent. The scheme is fully approved by the Greek government,” the ministry said in a statement.

In January ThyssenKrupp (TKAG.DE) picked shipbuilding group Abu Dhabi MAR as the preferred bidder to buy a majority stake in its indebted Greek shipbuilding unit HSY, the largest shipyard in the Mediterranean. (Reporting by George Georgiopoulos and Renee Maltezou)

‘Renee Zellweger meets Bradley Cooper’s parents’

Washington, Sept 4 (ANI): Renee Zellweger’s relationship with Bradley Cooper seems to be heating up, for the actress has met his parents.

The couple was first snapped out in public together last month (Aug09), when Zellweger and Cooper escaped for a low-key break in Barcelona, Spain.

However, after coming back, the ‘Hangover’ star whisked Zellweger off to his native Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to introduce her to his mum and dad.

“Brad and Renee drove from New York to Philly so he could show her off to his parents and old friends. They fell in love with her,” Contactmusic quoted a source as telling National Enquirer.

“Renee poured on her Texas charm, even arriving with flowers and a box of cupcakes she picked up at a local bakery for his parents.

“Hours after the visit, Bradley’s family was on the phone with him, gushing about Renee,” the source added.

Cooper is planning to move from Los Angeles to the Big Apple to be closer to his new girlfriend.

The insider adds, “Bradley is already talking about putting down roots in New York, where Renee lives. They just seem happy to have found each other.” (ANI)

Renee Zellweger compares motherhood to “slavery”

London, Aug 22 (ANI): Actress Renee Zellweger is likely to have second thoughts on starting a family and having kids after a nightmarish babysitting session with her brother’s kids.

The 40-year-old single beauty said an evening with her nephew and niece drained her out completely.

The Daily Star quoted her as saying: “My brother has two children now, so I’ve been playing aunt Renee. They’re two and four. It’s chaos. Moms out there, kudos to you. The cool thing about being an aunt is like, I can leave. No offence to my big brother Drew, but that is slavery. I dare you to take a shower. You can’t do anything unless they let you. It’s a dictatorship. They’re little dictators in their crib.”

Now, Zellweger is unsure if she wants to be a full-time mum.

“Every now and then I’ll step up and say, ‘You know what, everybody sleep in, because you guys need some sleep and aunt Renee is going to take charge. I’ve got it, I’ve got it.’ I so idn’t have it,” she adds. (ANI)

Washington, Aug 21 (ANI): Jennifer Aniston is deeply disappointed that her date with Hangover star Bradley Cooper did not end in a relationship, it has emerged.

It is believed Aniston “honestly feels screwed over” after her date with Cooper.

Fox News quoted a source as telling US Weekly: “She wanted to turn her date with Cooper into something,”

The former Friends star was very upset on seeing Cooper with Renee Zellweger a few weeks later.

Aniston “doesn’t see what Renee has that she doesn’t,” the insider said.

“She just does her thing, has her friends and her life and is cool. She’s really happy and doesn’t need anyone to feel complete,” another source said.

London, Jun 24 (ANI): Brit singer Rod Stewart’s ex-wife Rachel Hunter has been dumped by her toyboy fianci Jarret Stoll – less than two months before they were due to get married, it has emerged.

Stoll, 26, an ice hockey star, had walked out on the 39-year-old New Zealand model without giving her a reason, and had emailed guests that the ceremony, which was to be held on August 14, has been cancelled.

“She is absolutely devastated. Everything was in place for their wedding – she had the venue, the designer dress, the guest list,” the Sun quoted a source close to Hunter as saying.

“She has absolutely no idea why Jarret has done this. It sounds like it could be a classic case of cold feet. He is a fair bit younger than her,” the source said.

Her daughter Renee, 17, and son Liam, 14, are said to be “in pieces” at the break-up – especially Liam who is a keen ice hockey player.

Stoll had proposed last August, and he and Hunter had bought a 2.2million pounds home in Hermosa Beach, California, and were due to tie the knot in front of guests including Michelle Pfeiffer and Sharon Stone. (ANI)

London, May 20 (ANI): British musician Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster are desperate to have a second child, but fear they have very less time left to conceive, as their biological clock is ticking.

Rod and Lancaster, who have three-year-old son Alastair together, have been trying for a baby for more than a year.

“I think Rod’s touring and running around interferes with things but we still have high hopes,” the Daily Star quoted Lancaster as saying.

“It’s simply a question of age. It does become more difficult the older people are,” she added.

Obama sure can shoot, says University women’s basketball team

New York, Apr 29 (ANI): US President Barack Obama is said to have showed off his talent during the visit of the NCAA champion University of Connecticut women’s basketball team to the White House.

The President showed he was an ace shooter during the game on April 27, after he praised the team for their undefeated season, and had a game with them on his small court on the South Lawn.

All-American point guard Renee Montgomery, came back 10 minutes into the game, and revealed that Obama can play.

“The President can shoot!” the New York Daily News quoted her as shouting.

Obama credits the Huskies and cited their hard work and team play as an example.

“Our young women today look at themselves differently, especially tall, young women, like my daughters. And so, as a father, I want to thank all of you,” he said. (ANI)

Tornado hits Arkansas town, causes minor injuries

MENA, Arkansas: A tornado has struck a small town in Arkansas, making a direct hit on the county’s courthouse and causing minor injuries.

The twister was part of a severe weather system steaming across Arkansas and Missouri on Thursday night.

Arkansas state emergency spokeswoman Renee Preslar says the town of Mena was struck just after 8 pm. Twelve minor injuries were reported there.

Troopers and local police reported heavy damage downtown. Authorities were going door-to-door at homes checking for injuries in the town of about 5,700 in western Arkansas, near the Oklahoma state line.

In southern Missouri, hail, high winds and funnel clouds were reported.
