MJ’s new signature dance move, Penguin, set to sweep fans

London, September 19 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s completely new signature dance move in a new footage while rehearsing for his comeback concerts may soon become a rage amongst his fans.

The King of Pop, in the move, being called as the Penguin, was seen flapping his right arm up and down very quickly as his body shimmied while standing on the spot.

Jackson was spotted doing the hilarious Penguin in the video, thought to be from the This Is It movie rehearsal footage, as renowned choreographer Kenny Ortega coached and watched him over, reports the Sun.

The move was due to expand his signature repertoire of dance steps including the legendary Moonwalk, Anti-Gravity Lean, and Crotch Grab.

It would be no surprise if kids and adults tried to ape the Jackson Penguin, which West End star Ricko Baird said was not easy to imitate.

He said: “Michael was just so talented and he made it all look so easy. Some of his moves like the Moonwalk – and now the Penguin – are actually very difficult and need a lot of practice.”

Business analyst Christian Severina, 35, London, said: “I love Michael Jackson and I love his dancing. But this was really tricky to do it with the same grace and speed he does it. I ended up looking like I was having a fit.”

Hannah Turner, 16, of Essex, added: “Oh my god I look like such a wally. Only Michael Jackson can make that look cool.” (ANI)

Barbra Streisand’s ex to auction tapes of her earliest performances

New York, Aug 22 (ANI): Singer Barbra Streisand’s ex-boyfriend will soon have three recordings of her earliest performances auctioned.

Barry Dennen, who claims to have convinced her to become a singer, had made the tapes almost 50 years ago.

It includes the actress singing “A Taste of Honey” and “Two Brothers” in Dennen’s apartment, with him accompanying on guitar.

There’s also a Sept. 17, 1960, rehearsal at the Bon Soir nightclub, where Streisand sang “Keepin’ Out of Mischief Now,” “A Sleepin’ Bee,” “I Want To Be Bad,” “When Sunny Gets Blue,” “Lover Come Back to Me,” “Nobody’s Heart” and “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?”

He will now be selling it, with bids starting at 1 million dollars.

“I’m a little trepidatious. I don’t know what the fallout will be. I don’t like upsetting Barbra, and I don’t want her fans angry at me,” the New York Post quoted him as saying.

Dennen revealed that he first met Streisand in 1959 as castmates in a Broadway play, “The Insect Comedy.”

Soon they began dating and started living together at Ninth Street and Sixth Avenue in California.

Barry mentioned that Barbra had asked him for the tapes in 1965 as they had broken up but he had refused to give it to her.

He recollected: “I said ‘No. They are the only thing I have left of our collaboration.’ ”

The auction will happen on Web site, MomentsInTime.com

Meanwhile, Streisand reps said: “Our lawyers are dealing with this.” (ANI)

Stuntman dies while recreating ‘Indiana Jones’ action scene

London, August 19 (ANI): A Bulgarian stuntman has died while trying to recreate an action scene from the adventure series of “Indiana Jones” at Disney World.

Anislav Varbanov fell while practising a “tumbling roll” and suffered a brain injury during the rehearsal at the attraction in Orlando, Florida.

The 30-year-old athlete had been preparing the routine for the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, a half-hour show that recreates scenes from the hit films, reports the Sun.

The show, performed in the Hollywood Studios section of the park, depicts an Indy lookalike being chased by a boulder, leaping from an exploding aircraft and beating villains.

Police and health and safety officials had stepped in to investigate the incident while performances were cancelled. (ANI)

Jane Fonda finds ‘new love’

New York, July 16 (ANI): Actress Jane Fonda is reportedly dating music producer Richard Perry.

According to a source, the two are now “inseparable” and are probably living together.

The actress has reportedly been visiting the musician during his rehearsals for the musical “Baby, It’s You” in Los Angeles.

“Jane has been attending almost every rehearsal with him,” the New York Post quoted an insider as saying.

However, Fonda has maintained silence on the issue. (ANI)

These are the last pictures of Michael Jackson on stage, taken just two days before he died.

The images of the singer hard at work rehearsing for upcoming tour This Is It give a glimpse of what was in store for fans at his planned gigs in London’s 02.

Jackson was due to begin the first of 50 dates at the arena on July 13, but died on Thursday after being rushed to hospital in Los Angeles.

In one of the newly-emerged images, taken on Tuesday at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, the singer points towards the audience as backing dancers perform in front of a huge This Is It banner.

Despite looking frail, the star strikes a familiar pose and appears to be in full flow during the rehearsal.

In another photo, he smiles broadly, microphone in hand, dressed in a long shimmering mac over a top and trousers.

More than 800,000 tickets costing up to £1,000 had been sold for the concerts at London’s O2 arena which were hailed as the most ‘expensive and technically advanced’ live shows ever.

The concerts, which were due to start in two weeks’ time, had been expected to be the highest grossing pop production of all time.

Hundreds of thousands of fans who bought tickets for the cancelled gigs have been told they will be entitled to a refund.

ON DVD, THE FINAL PERFORMANCE

Footage from Jackson’s final rehearsals is already being compiled for a DVD and album.

The star is believed to have been filmed running through his songs and dance routines the day before he died.

It is expected that when released this could become one of the star’s biggest selling works.

It is understood filming took place last Wednesday during Jackson’s rehearsals at the Los Angeles Staples Centre for the 50-date This Is It tour.

It remains unclear who has official ownership of the footage. A spokesman for concert promoter AEG
declined to comment. It is expected that the star’s estate will make more money in the next year from his music than he did in the last decade of his life.

The king of pop’s family will release a series of posthumous albums, starting this Christmas. It is understood Jackson wrote a number of songs for his three children, which were not to be released until after his death.

There are also songs left over from his last album, Invincible, released in 2001.

A tribute show is planned for September with Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder and Barbra Streisand said to be in talks to appear.

Jackson’s Aussie guitarist describes him as ‘beautiful spirit’

Melbourne, July 5 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s Australian guitarist has spoken about her grief over the death of the singer, describing him as “a beautiful spirit.”

Orianthi Panagaris, of Hawthorn, the blonde guitarist who featured prominently in the final video of Jackson Los Angeles rehearsal before his death, is due to perform at the King of Pop’s public memorial next week.

The South Australian-born musician had been rehearsing with the star six days a week for the last three months, reports Adelaide Now.

“He had this wonderful aura about him, a beautiful spirit. It’s been a surreal time working with him and it’s devastating what’s happened,” the Daily Telegraph quoted Orianthi as saying.

She continued: “We practised so much and knew the songs so well. Because we rehearsed so much . . . we knew the parts like the back of our hands.”

Orianthi’s mother, Sue Panagaris, told the Sunday Mail her daughter was very upset by Jackson’s death like his other fans all over the world.

She said: “She’s very sad at the moment. It’s not that she is disappointed that she won’t get to play with him, she’s just so sad that he has died.

“She said he was such a wonderful person and she wishes the world had gotten to know the same person she had come to know over the three months they had been working together.

“She said it was the best experience of her life and she’s just so very sad that the world didn’t see what the band saw every day. The world has missed out.” (ANI)

Defence forces all set to participate in National Day Parade of France

New Delhi, July 4 (ANI): A 400-strong contingent of the three wings of Indian defence forces (Army, Navy and Air Force) performed a full-dress rehearsal here today ahead of their visit to France to participate in a parade making National Day celebrations in France on July 14.

This is the for the first time that all the three services – Army, Navy and Air Force will be participating in the National Day celebrations of another country.

Among the 400 personnel, 300 would be part of the marching contingent, while the rest are from the respective bands.

A prominent feature of the band contingent will be the drummers and bagpipers who would be playing Indian martial music.

The members of this contingent have been practicing for the past fortnight at the India Gate.

“We have stood first in the Army Day parade, the reason we have been selected for the French national day parade. And as far this specific practice for French National Day celebration is concerned we have been practicing from past one month and from last 15 days we have been practicing at India Gate,” said Captain Vinay Khanduri of 22 Maratha Light Infantry.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has invited Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to be the chief guest at the French National Day celebrations. (ANI)

Jacko concert bosses hope to recover losses via $17.5M insurance cover

Washington, July 3 (ANI): The organisers of Michael Jackson’s London concert hope to recover their losses through the insurance cover, if the pop star died accidentally, including of a drug overdose.

Concert promoter AEG Live’s chief executive Randy Phillips said that the company took out 17.5 million dollars in insurance coverage through Lloyd’s of London.

While 40 to 50 percent of concert ticket-buyers have so far decided to receive tickets as memorabilia in lieu of a full refund, for others AEG has offered full refunds on the face value and surcharges.

The amount would fall short of the 25 to 30 million dollars spent on Jacko’s advance, producing the 50-date series at The O2 arena, covering some of Jackson’s debts, and paying his staff and rent on the Holmby Hills mansion where he lived.

He also seeks to earn revenue from rehearsal concert footage, and a video project Jackson was overseeing before his death.

It could be a boon to AEG and Jackson’s estate.

Phillips said that he saw no need to sue the estate to recover any of AEG’s costs.

“Right now I think the estate and AEG are very much in line and not adversarial and I’d like to keep it that way,” Fox News quoted Phillips as saying.

“For the record, this great company I work for is not bankrupt and not going out of business and certainly not in trouble. I’m heartbroken but the company’s fine,” he added. (ANI)

Jacko’s sensational O2 rehearsal video shows him in good form

London, Jul 3 (ANI): Late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s final rehearsal video for his O2 gigs shows that he was in a very highly energetic form.

Jacko could be seen doing a sensational routine, leaping across the stage as he performed his hit ‘They Don’t Care About Us’.

“I watched in awe. From what I saw, Michael was back – and in real style,” the Sun quoted photographer Kevin Mazur, 48, who watched the final show, as saying.

“He was amazing, happy and energetic. He performed virtually non-stop for two hours and ran through about a dozen greatest hits. He stopped just a couple of times to tweak arrangements and work on moves with dancers.

“Every track he sang sounded terrific. I honestly could not wait to see the show,” the photographer added.

Mazur also said that Jackson seemed excited about his London residency, and even checked out props backstage in LA.

“He loved going through all the props and was excited about performing Thriller with these zombie puppets,” he said.

“I’m very sad people won’t be able to see it,” he added. (ANI)

Michael Jackson’s Last Tour Rehearsals Filmed For Possible Release

Michael Jackson's Last Tour Rehearsals Filmed For Possible Release Following Michael Jackson’s death on Thursday, 750,000 people who bought tickets to see him perform at the O2 in London will never get the chance to experience the stunning visual and musical spectacle the singer had in store for them. But, according to reports, AEG Live, the promoter of the “This Is It” 50-date residency, recorded enough of Jackson’s rehearsal material to release at least one live CD/DVD. Entertainment industry Web site The Wrap reports that Jackson’s final rehearsal at the Staples Center on Wednesday was recorded in multi-camera, high-definition video and multi-track audio. The recording could be released as the singer’s final album, according to unnamed sources close to the now scuttled tour, which was reportedly due to go around the globe following the O2 residency. The recordings were made as part of a deal cut by AEG Live with Jackson, which included plans to produce a live album and DVD of the singer performing his greatest hits. If the reports are true, the recording could help AEG Live recoup some of the estimated tens of millions of dollars it is expected to lose as a result of Jackson’s untimely death. A spokesperson for AEG Live could not be reached for comment at press time.

The Wrap reported that Jackson had failed to appear at “many” of the scheduled rehearsals over the past two months, but he did appear at the full run-through on Wednesday in anticipation of the July 13 kick-off of the London shows. The final rehearsal reportedly included dancers, musicians and aerial performers, as well as Jackson suspended from a crane at one point and a 3-D view of a “Thriller”-inspired haunted mansion.

On Monday (June 29), USA Today pulled back the curtain on the closely guarded rehearsals, describing an over-the-top Jackson extravaganza that was to feature floating orbs, a flaming bed, lots of pyrotechnics, 20-foot-tall puppets, giant spiders and Jackson breaking out all his signature dance moves.

“He was trying, and succeeding, in structuring the biggest, most spectacular live production ever seen,” said Johnny Caswell, co-owner of CenterStaging in Burbank, California, where Jackson worked on the show from late March to early June before shifting rehearsals to larger venues, according to the paper.

“By the time he left my facility, he had graduated through several studios and was on a soundstage taking up 10,000 square feet,” Caswell said. “They moved to The Forum, outgrew that and needed the height at Staples. The show was getting so damn big, they couldn’t finish it in time. That’s why they had to delay.” Caswell said reports that Jackson had delayed the start of the engagement due to health problems were “nonsense,” explaining that the ballooning size of the production caused the push back.

While it has been reported that Jackson had been taking a number of powerful prescription medications prior to his death and that he died following cardiac arrest, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has deferred determining his cause of death pending further toxicology tests.

Despite some suggestions that the frail singer with a history of medical problems might not have been strong enough to complete his first full-fledged tour in 12 years, according to USA Today, he was very engaged during Wednesday’s final rehearsal at the Staples Center, where he worked with a crew of more than 80 dancers, choreographers, band members and crew to polish the show.

Jackson began what would be his final rehearsal by putting on a headset and walking to an elevated platform to sing the song “Dangerous,” at first a cappella, then joined by his band.

“Misfits of Magic” founder Ed Alonzo, who worked on illusions for Britney Spears’ Circus tour, joined the Jackson show six weeks ago. He said he designed a number of stunning effects for the King of Pop, including a glowing glass sphere that would float around Jackson and then into the crowd during the opening song, 1982′s “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’.” A version of “Dirty Diana” was to feature a flaming bed with a pole-dancing aerialist “playing the part of the fire,” Alonzo said. After the fire woman pursued Jackson around the bed, she would tie him to the bed posts with gold rope, and a sheet of red fabric would spring up in front of him as he struggled in silhouette. When the sheet fell, it would be revealed that it was the woman struggling, not Jackson, and he would then materialize on a stage in the middle of the arena.

“It was an amazing show,” Alonzo said. “The thing was just days away from being perfected. It was incredible. Even though it was just a walk-through with the dancers, his moves were dead-on — the same Michael Jackson we (saw) through the years in music videos.” Alonzo said that while Jackson seemed underweight, he appeared to be in good health and was energetic during the rehearsal. Jackson’s manager, Frank DiLeo, told the Hollywood Reporter that after finishing the final run-through around midnight on Wednesday, Jackson was feeling good about the show. “He found me and said, ‘Frank, I am so happy. … This is really our time.’ He put his arm around me,” DiLeo said.

Michael Jackson 8 Profiteers that Astound and Infuriate All of Us

Michael Jackson 8 Profiteers that Astound and Infuriate All of UsAs CRLS anticipated, cashing in on Michael Jackson’s death has become the “world’s greatest death meme.” As the trend of celebrity Twitter statements has subsided, the world is left with the true bottom-feeders. These are the folks who do not create MJ YouTube videos for promotion, but rather, attempt to bring home the bills by exploiting our unwavering Jackson fascination. Not counting New York’s street merchants (to be fair, some of the MJ pins are kind of awesome) here’s an eight-point list of Michael Jackson profiteers that impress and annoy us.

1. OK! Magazine: They recently published a photo of Michael Jackson dead on a stretcher. The picture cost them $500K and the Jackson family is outraged. Not OK.

2. AEG LIVE: The production company set to run Jackson’s English performances has plans to release a DVD of MJ’s last rehearsal. However, this is understandable since $85 million must be refunded in ticket sales, not to mention the amount lost in preparation for the tour.

3. Sony: Word came today that there are hundreds of unreleased songs in existence. “When a music star of Jackson’s stature dies, labels typically comb through their archives to pull out anything they can release. New compilations of recordings by performers such as Elvis, Tupac and Jeff Buckley are still released nearly every year.”

4. Lindsay Lohan: Underwear + Michael Jackson hat. The Twitter picture speaks for itself.

5. The Michael Jackson Estate: The challenge lies in developing and leveraging the celebrity’s legacy without cheapening the product. If done smartly, this can enhance the celebrity’s public standing — and marketability — for many years to come.”

6. Radio Stations: Fortunately, the people who are mostly benefiting from the 1,735 percent rise in MJ airplay are his songwriters. Having written/co-written some of Jackson’s greatest hits (Rod Temperton wrote “Thriller”), these select songwriters will be receiving extreme royalty boosts.

7. Nona Paris Lola Ankhesenamun Jackson: “All my husband’s properties, monies and assets must be transferred to me immediately” and “my husband’s body must be returned to the coroner’s body [sic] or the mortuary immediately.” Nona has filed a petition though the L.A. County Superior Court. There is zero evidence

8. Gary Mayor Rudy Clay: “If it’s good enough for Elvis Presley, it’s good enough for Michael Jackson, too.” Clay expects Jackson’s old, run-down Indiana home to become the next Graceland.

Jacko often forgot to eat and had to be ‘force fed’ while preparing for O2 gigs

London, July 2 (ANI): One of Michael Jackson’s closest confidants has revealed that the star was so immersed in his preparations for his O2 Arena comeback gigs that he often forgot to eat, and had to be “force fed”.

If AEG Live boss Randy Phillips is to be believed, Jackson’s calorie intake had fallen to dangerously low levels in the days before his death.

The promoter behind the 50 shows at the O2 Arena also said that he and director Kenny Ortega often cut Jackon’s food up into bite-sized potions so that he could be fed quickly.

However, despite trying their level best to keep Jackson healthy, the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker survived on just one meal a day.

Phillips revealed that Jackson continued his gruelling rehearsal schedule eating meagre portions of his favourite dishes-vegetarian lasagne, steamed broccoli, nut loaf or tofu with chilli sauce.

“He used to forget to eat because he was so focused and Kenny Ortega and I used to cut up his food and physically feed him,” the Mirror quoted Phillips as saying.

The promoter was with Jacko at rehearsals the morning of his cardiac arrest.

He revealed: “He did a three-hour rehearsal and we all finished up at 12.30am on Thursday morning. He was really excited. He was super-charged and did a group hug with the director Kenny Ortega and his manager. He was like a kid in the candy store – he was so up for it.”

He added: “I walked him out to the car and he put his arm around me and, speaking softly like he always does, he said to me: ‘Do you know what – we are here, we are going to make it. I love you for doing this and now I know I can do it.’ That was the last thing he said to me and I never heard from him again.”

Just hours later Jackson, 50, was found dead in his exclusive Holmby Hills home after suffering a massive heart attack. (ANI)

Jacko bleached skin, rebuilt face to avoid looking like his ‘bullying’ dad

London, July 2 (ANI): Late King of Pop Michael Jackson reportedly did not want to look like his “bullying” dad, and that is why he bleached his skin and butchered his face with surgery.

Jackson’s pal John Randy Taraborrelli, a journalist who has known him for 40 years, has revealed that he was petrified he would grow into an identical version of Joe.

Taraborrelli’s statement has come at a time when, amid speculation over whether Jacko really fathered his three children, rumours have started to circulate that the star’s hatred of his violent dad stopped him from reproducing, as he feared they would look like their grandfather.

Taraborrelli, 53, said that Jackson was traumatised by regular beatings from his dad, now 79.

“His motive for cosmetic surgery was not, as many surmised, too look more like his idol Diana Ross,” the Daily Star quoted him as saying.

“It was so that he would look less like his father – the man who had so mistreated him and whose strong, broad-nosed face he saw looking back at him from the mirror,” he added.

As Joe managed his kids to success as The Jackson 5, he would punish anyone fluffing up in rehearsals for big shows.

Since Michael led the group, he inevitably took most of the flak.

“The violence worsened as the boys got older and the music business became their life,” Taraborrelli said.

“When he was late for one rehearsal, Joseph came up from behind and shoved him. Michael fell and was badly bruised.

“Michael was spirited enough to fight back, once he hurled a shoe at his father but Joseph screamed: ‘Boy, you just signed your own death warrant.’

“He then held Michael upside down by one leg and pummelled him over and over,” he added.

However, said the journalist, Jackon’s obsession with surgery ruined his looks.

Taraborrelli said: “His appearance was becoming increasingly bizarre. He had also begun using a skin-bleaching cream, which he bought by the crate. Gone was the brown-skinned, broad-nosed youth with an Afro whose natural charisma charmed an audience.”

The journalist added: “In his place was a fragile, doll-like man it was impossible not to stare at in disbelief. He had achieved his goal of transforming himself, but at a barely imaginable price. In the public’s eyes, all this made him not only a freak but a joke.” (ANI)

Jacko looked picture of health two days before death

London, Jun 30 (ANI): King of Pop Michael Jackson is said to have been in incredible form just two days before his death.

Jacko was pictured strutting about the stage rehearsing his moves for his gigs at London’s O2, which was to start next month.

In a picture taken during rehearsals, the late singer could be seen performing a high-energy routine with a ‘This Is It’ lighting display flashing at the back.

“Michael was in better form than for years,” the Sun quoted a source, who had watched the Thriller hit maker’s final rehearsal in LA, as saying.

“He was preparing for what would have been an absolutely incredible show.

“He was laughing and joking with his dancers. He seemed to have so much energy – it’s hard to believe that 48 hours later he was dead,” the source said.

Even photographer Kevin Mazur, who had taken the shots, was impressed by the moves.

“When he hit the stage I was thrilled that the magical Michael Jackson was back,” he added. (ANI)

Jacko’s final rehearsal for O2 gigs may be released as his final album

New York, June 29 (ANI): Late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s final rehearsal for his London concert tour could soon be releases as his final album, say sources.

The final rehearsal was recorded in high definition video and audio on the eve of his death.

Sharon Waxman, of the Hollywood blog TheWrap.com, said that concert promotion company AEG Live had taped Jacko’s rehearsals at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to produce an album and DVD of his ‘This Is It’ comeback tour in London.

According to the News York Daily News, Waxman said that an AEG official boasted to a colleague: “we have a live album in the can.”

While Jackson did not appear at many of the scheduled rehearsals in Los Angeles, he was there for an “electric” full rehearsal on the night before his death.

The rehearsal, which went on for several hours, included dancers, musicians and aerial performers.

Three people close to the production revealed that the rehearsal had been captured by multiple cameras, and the audio was digitally recorded.

Thus, it could be used to produce surround-sound DVD and audio products.

AEG Live might lose millions due to the unexpected cancellation of Jackson’s 50-show London concert series, but potential earnings from recordings of the star’s final moments could offset some of the losses.

Patrick Woodroffe, a lighting designer for the concerts, watched the final rehearsal.

“We had rehearsed for the last couple weeks. We put together a complicated show, quite a spectacular show,” Woodroffe told the BBC.

“Of course a huge part of it was him, and I would say for the last week he hadn’t really been with us. He would appear, and he would rehearse sometimes, and he would not rehearse,” he said.

He added: “I guess that we were nervous whether we would be able to carry off this show at the 02.”

The spectacular 50-concert series at London’s 02 arena was set to begin in July.

Randy Phillips, president and CEO of AEG Live, refused to comment on the issue. (ANI)

Hong Kong closes school as three more cases of swine flu confirmed

Hong Kong closes school as three more cases of swine flu confirmedHong Kong – The Hong Kong government on Thursday closed a school after it emerged that a student infected with swine flu attended a function there with about 200 other students.

The 17-year-old attended a rehearsal for a graduation ceremony at her school, the United Christian College, Wednesday, three days after returning from a trip to Vancouver with her mother and relatives.

She fell sick the following day and on Thursday was confirmed to be Hong Kong’s 15th imported case of the new strain of the H1N1 flu virus, commonly referred to as swine flu.

Her 4-year-old cousin who travelled on the same trip to Canada, one of the countries hardest hit in the swine-flu outbreak, is also one of the confirmed cases.

A spokesman for the Centre for Health Protection said the school had been advised to close for 14 days as a precaution and said the situation would continue to be monitored. (dpa)

Emotional Katie Holmes fights back tears during Memorial Day rehearsal

Washington, May 25 (ANI): Katie Holmes kept her tears from pouring while reading out a soldier’s memoirs during a rehearsal for the annual Memorial Day concert.

The actress was preparing to lend a helping hand in honouring US war veterans at the 20th PBS National Memorial Day Concert in Washington, D.C.

The Batman Begins star will be paying tribute to Iraq war veteran Jose Pequeno by sharing his story, and that of his mother Nellie Bagley and sister Elizabeth.

The 30-year-old said that she felt honoured to be a part of the big event.

“It’s important to tell these stories and honour the sacrifice and service of these men and women and their families,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

“It’s a real gift to be able to portray an American of such strength. I’m excited. I want to do justice to her story,” she added. (ANI)

Jennifer Aniston can’t fake chemistry with co-stars

New Delhi, May 18 (ANI): Jennifer Aniston has admitted that she finds it hard to fake chemistry with her co-stars.

The former ‘Friends’ star – who has starred alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest male stars, including Clive Owen, Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson – believes that it is extremely important for the two main characters of a film to connect.

However, she also admitted that bringing on-screen chemistry isn’t that easy.

“You can’t buy chemistry. You can’t train it. On the first day of rehearsal it’s like, ‘This is good.’ You know it when it happens and boy do you know it when it’s not there,” she added.

Meanwhile, the 40-year-old actress has revealed that she dreams of directing her own movies.

“I’m still working on becoming a director. I’m just waiting for the right thing.

When you get to a place in your career where you’re like, ‘OK, I feel like I can breathe and I can make some choices that creatively stimulate me.’ I don’t know if acting is always going to be it, but I love it,” she said. (ANI)

ROUNDUP: YouTube Symphony earns praise on debut

New York – After 3,000 online auditions, 15 million hits on their YouTube channel and just two days of intensive rehearsal, the 96 musicians who form the YouTube Symphony orchestra made their public debut in a well-reviewed concert at Carnegie Hall.

Playing to a sold out crowd Wednesday night in a venue strewn with computer screens, the performers from 33 countries aired pieces from Bach, Mozart and Brahms, as well as Internet Symphony No. 1, Eroica, written especially for the event by Oscar-winning Chinese composer Tan Dun. The musicians were chosen by an online poll of the 15 million people who viewed their videos.

“We’re meeting a lot of different worlds, the real time world, the online world and the experience of getting acquainted,” said Grammy Award-winning conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, the orchestra’s artistic director, who conducted most of the concert. “It’s been like a summit conference and a scout jamboree, with elements of speed dating.

The New York Times said that the despite the challenges posed by the nature of the project the musicians performed “quite well, actually” but that more rehearsals would be required for greater subtlety. The paper’s music critic also criticized the programme for choosing too many excerpts rather than allowing the orchestra loose on complete works.

But the paper called for the experiment to be made permanent – quoting Kurt Hinterbichler, a physicist at Columbia University who played the double bass in the orchestra and explained that YouTube deserves credit for fielding the musical team rather than “the YouTube International Basketball Team.”

Another appropriate comment came from a tech-savvy Twitter blogger in the audience. Using the short-form comments that have made the site famous, he needed only two words to describe the concert: “really fantastic.” (dpa)

YouTube Symphony holds first rehearsal

New York – The YouTube Symphony Orchestra, made up of 90 outstanding musicians chosen via online audition videos they posted on YouTube. com, held its first rehearsal Monday in New York ahead of its official debut Wednesday night at New York’s Carnegie Hall. The orchestra was selected by its artistic advisor Michael Tilson Thomas, and the programme will include works by Gabrieli, Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Villa Lobos and John Cage.

The orchestra is believed to be the world’s first selected entirely through online auditions. The project was launched in December 2008, and more than 3,000 professional and amateur musicians posted their auditions online. The YouTube Symphony Orchestra’s channel (www. YouTube. com/Symphony) has received more than 14 million views worldwide.

“Suddenly we are able to see each other after seeing our videos before,” orchestra member Luna Serenata said in a YouTube posting. “I have been able to meet wonderful people. It’s amazing to meet these people from all over the world and see how united we can become through the language of music.” (dpa)
