Madonna casts James D”arcy as King Edward VIII for upcoming flick

London, June 4 (ANI): Queen of Pop Madonna has cast actor James D”arcy as King Edward VIII in her upcoming royal biopic W.E.

The singer is set to direct the film, based on the story of the former monarch, who abdicated the throne after falling in love with American divorcee Wallis Simpson.

Actress Andrea Riseborough, best known for her TV portrayal of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, will play the woman who rocked the royal family, while Aussie beauty Abbie Cornish will star as a modern wife who compares herself to Wallis.

And now, Madonna has picked D”Arcy to take on the role of King Edward.

“We”ve found the right cast for this picture. The addition of James is wonderful as he”s got such charisma and possesses a regal quality that he can capture. There was a real chemistry between him and Andrea,” the Daily Express quoted producer Colin Vaines as saying. (ANI)

“I didn’t actually that know he was in retirement and then we sent him the new songs and he got back to us straight away.

“But if my kids aren’t with me and I have a chunk of time when I’m a single woman living in my house for a miraculous week, I will get to write at different hours.

Lady GaGa nips out in racy see-through lace catsuit at NY fashion week

London, September 16 (ANI): Lady GaGa continued her shock tactics as she stepped out in a bizarre see-through red lace catsuit teamed up with eye mask and eccentric spiky hair piece at the New York fashion week.

The singer’s modesty was said to be hardly covered by a barely there red G-string and an almost-strategically placed ruffle on her costume.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old recently gave a blood-covered performance and faked her own death at the MTV Video Music Awards, during which she changed her outfit five times, reports the Daily Mail.

However, the ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker’s appearance was said to be a little toned down at the Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 2010 fashion show after party, where she bumped into fellow ‘shocker’ Madonna.

Madonna admitted she was “very flattered” by comparisons to the newcomer.

The Queen of Pop complimented the star, saying: “She looks like she’s going to a carnival in Venice, very beautiful.” (ANI)

Madonna’s heartfelt MJ tribute

Washington, September 14 (ANI): In her recent tribute to Michael Jackson, Madonna held herself and others responsible for ‘abandoning’ the late star.

The Queen of Pop, while speaking at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City, recalled her time spent with the King of Pop in 1991, when the two went out to dinner.

Madonna revisited the memories when she joked about trying to get the singer to eat French fries, drink and say “bad words”, reports Us magazine.

The two later went to her house to watch a film and “his hand snuck over and held mine,” and “in that moment, he felt like a human being,” she added.

The ‘Material Girl’ confessed that over the years she lost touch with Jackson, who died of acute propofol intoxication on June 25.

When he passed away, “all I could think about him in that one moment was, ‘I had abandoned him,’ that we had abandoned him,” she said.

She went on: “That we had allowed this magnificant creature that once set the world on fire somehow slip through the cracks.

“When he was trying to build a family and rebuild his career, we were all busy passing judgment. Most of us had turned our backs on him… Sometimes, we have to lose things before we can truly appreciate them…” (ANI)

Israeli MP says Livni attending Madonna gig illegal

Jerusalem, Sep. 10 (ANI): Likud politician Danny Danon has filed a complaint with the Knesset Ethics Committee against opposition leader Tzipi Livni for accepting an invitation from Madonna to sit in a VIP section at the singer’s recent concert in Tel Aviv.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Livni was invited by Madonna to sit in a special section next to the ‘Queen of Pop’s family as a special guest when the two had dinner on the eve of the first show last week.

According to Danon, Livni paid 490 shekels, the price for a regular spot, and therefore, the acceptance of Madonna’s invitation violated the prohibition against MKs receiving gifts.

“The fact that she received a present violates ethics laws,” Danon told Israel Radio on Thursday. “I expect a swift response from the Knesset Ethics Committee.”

The diva dined with the Kadima leader last Monday, at Madonna’s request, Livni spokesman Gil Messing said last week.

Livni “was very impressed with Madonna and found her to be a very interesting person,” said Messing, adding that the two decided to keep the content of their conversation private. (ANI)

Madonna decides to reconcile with estranged brother

Washington, September 7 (ANI): Madonna has reportedly decided to reconcile with her estranged brother, Christopher Ciconne.

The Queen of Pop’s relationship with her sibling had fallen apart after he wrote a tell-all book about their relationship, entitled ‘Life With My Sister Madonna’, last year.

The ‘Material Girl’ hitmaker apparently wants to end the feud for the sake of her family, and has sent him tentative emails to start speaking.

“Madonna did it more for her family than for herself. Her feud with Chris was creating huge tension within the family so she decided to be the bigger person,” Contactmusic quoted a source as having told Britain’s Sunday Mirror newspaper.

The insider added: “At one point Madonna wanted all the family to cut off Chris – but her father wasn’t willing. It’s been a nightmare ever since. She’s calmed down about the book and had time to think. She realises blood is thicker than water and has said she will meet with him this year in LA.”

Christopher had written in his book: “The Madonna I once knew is lost to me for ever, I am sorry for her and us.”

He even claims that his sister’s then husband/director Guy Ritchie once tried to intimidate him by driving dangerously close to him.

He also alleges that the Guy’s friends made homophobic remarks to him at the helmer’s stag party.

It is believed that Madonna’s divorce with Guy last year helped her become more sensitive towards her brother. (ANI)

Madonna set to make film on Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson

Madge, 51, hopes that Scottish actor David Tennant, 38, and Aussie actress Cate Blanchett, 40, will star in the movie about Wallis Simpson, the twice-divorced American socialite, to marry whom King Edward VIII gave up the throne.

The movie will be another musical like the 1996 flick ‘Evita’, in which Madge played Eva Peron, but this time she will be directing and producing, not acting in it.

She has already met with ‘Dr Who’ star Tennant to persuade him to play Edward, and she is determined to get Blanchett to play the young Wallis after deciding against Keira Knightley.
