‘Made up’ Susan Boyle says she’s like any other woman

London, May 11 (ANI): Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle defended her recent makeover on The Oprah Winfrey show, insisting that it was just a little “tidying up”.

The 48-year-old, who had stunned all with her jaw-dropping performance of the song ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, had taken up a new look after dyeing her frizzy grey hair and mending her bushy eyebrows.

The church volunteer from Scotland had come under critics’ fire for her new wardrobe, while the talent show’s bosses were left enraged since they wanted her to be a complete natural.

But the singing sensation told chat queen Oprah that she was like any other woman.

“I’ve just tidied up a bit like any woman would,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

Susan may soon become the world’s biggest internet star since the overnight star’s debut performance had already gathered 186million hits on You Tube, making it the fifth most watched video.
She was recently reported to have turned down the chance to meet US President Barack Obama at the prestigious annual Correspondents Dinner in Washington D.C.

The singer was apparently too nervous to take up the offer to be in the presence of the President and other high profilers at the five-star Hilton Hotel. (ANI)

‘Nervous’ Susan Boyle turns down dinner date with Barack Obama

London, May 10 (ANI): Britain’s Got Talent’s star Susan Boyle reportedly turned down the chance to meet US President Barack Obama at a star-studded party and instead stayed at home and washed her hair.

The 48-year-old, who had wooed all with her jaw-dropping performance of the Les Misérables song ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ on the talent show, had allegedly been invited to the prestigious annual Correspondents Dinner which took place in Washington DC.

The church volunteer from Scotland was said to be too nervous to take up the offer to be in the presence of the President and other high profilers at the five-star Hilton Hotel.

“She was shocked and thrilled by the invite – but it was all too much too soon for her so she said No,” News of the World quoted a source as saying.

“She has been told President Obama has seen clips of her on TV and loved her singing. And she is delighted.

“But instead she’ll have no doubt stayed in with her cat Pebbles, washed her hair and watched Britain’s Got Talent on telly,” the source added.

The source continued: “She knows she would have been incredibly nervous if she’d gone. But her dream is to sing for President Obama one day. She loves him and thinks he is already a terrific president.” (ANI)

Preacher Blessitt’s ‘World’s Longest Walk’ with cross turned into film

London, April 9 (ANI): The life of American preacher Arthur Blessitt, who has spent the last 40 years walking across 315 countries carrying a cross, has been turned into a documentary.

The 68-year-old marked his place in Guinness World Records for the World’s Longest Walk by treading 38,102 miles with the 12ft-high, 45lb wooden symbol crossing every ocean and covering all seven continents.

And now his epic adventure, which also landed him face to face with death during his visit to 52 war zones, forms the base of ‘The Cross: The Arthur Blessitt Story’.

“I have carried the cross around the world and lifted it up in nation after nation. Now I’m to walk down the red carpet and into the heart of Hollywood and lift the cross up there,” the Sun quoted him as saying.

Blessitt used to run a church-cum-coffee shop next to a topless club in Los Angeles before he ‘heard the call of Jesus’.

Consequently, he began his travel in England in August 1971 and has met many high-profilers including Pope John Paul II, Yasser Arafat and George W Bush on his way.

Blessitt, internationally known as the “Pilgrim with the Cross” for carrying the symbol through every nation of the world, completed his walk in June last year.

And now he hopes that the Matthew Crouch directed documentary will bring more followers to God.

He said: “My prayer is that every person who sees the movie will fall at the foot of the cross and become a true follower of Jesus or pick up their cross and step into their own destiny in the power of Jesus.” (ANI)
