MJ’s brother’s fury over ‘secret’ burial filming

London, September 6 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s brother Randy has slammed the “surreptitious” filming of the burial of the late star in Los Angeles.

The former ‘Jackson 5′ singer reacted after a camera kept filming the private ceremony at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park on a hovering helicopter despite the area being a no-fly zone.

“I was dismayed last night and again today at the coverage I saw on television of our ceremony for Michael,” the BBC quoted him as saying.

“We had asked the media to respect the privacy and the sanctity of this event; to give us one moment of privacy to mourn as a family out of the public spotlight.

“Unfortunately, despite a no-fly zone around Forest Lawn, many media organisations decided to ignore our wishes.

“I therefore ask today that media organisations airing helicopter footage of the ceremony we held for my brother immediately pull that footage from their air and refrain from airing it in the future,” he added.

The King of Pop was finally laid to rest after he died of a lethal cocktail of prescription drugs on June 25.

The Los Angeles coroner ruled Jackson’s death as homicide. (ANI)

Lily Cole owes acting career to late Heath Ledger

Washington, Sept 2 (ANI): English actress Lily Cole insists that she owes her acting career to late actor Heath Ledger.

Cole said he taught her the tricks of the trade while they were filming ‘The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus’.

After a small role in Trinian’s movie, the 21-year-old actress was hired for Terry Gilliam’s fantasy epic, opposite Ledger and Christopher Plummer.

She calls Ledger “a great friend and mentor.”

“He definitely helped me,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

“From the beginning, he understood that I would be overwhelmed and scared by the size of the project. He encouraged me and said he was really proud of me, constantly fed me support,” she added.

Cole reveals she came close to giving up on the film when Ledger was found dead of a prescription drug overdose in January 2008.

His role was taken on by three other actors – Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp.

“Everyone loved Heath. For everyone who knew him, (his death) was devastating. The practicalities of continuing the production were difficult, but it seemed irrelevant,” she said.

“Johnny (Depp) slipped seamlessly into the role, but that didn’t stop it being bizarre. I thought I was in at the deep end in the beginning – then look what happened!” she added. (ANI)

Fans in Kochi pay tribute to Michael Jackson on his 51st birthday

Kochi, Aug 30 (ANI): Thousands of fans in Kerala on Saturday paid tribute to ‘king of pop’ Michael Jackson on his 51st birthday.

Leading singers and choreographers gathered at Darbar Hall ground where a huge LCD screen was erected showing the videos of Jackson.

Fans lighted electronic candles and danced to the popular numbers.

“This is a great way of showing Michael Jackson how much we really love him and how much truly he has touched our life. I think there is not a single artiste or musician who has not been touched by Michael Jackson,” said Usha Uthup, Indian singer who led the troupe.

Meanwhile, Jackson’s family delayed his burial by five days as a judge ruled that a touring show of his memorabilia could go on.

The “Thriller” singer’s burial will now take place on September 3.

Jackson suffered cardiac arrest and died on June 25.

A police investigation into his death appears focused on his use of prescription drugs and on the doctors who treated him. (ANI)

DJ AM found dead in his New York apartment

London, Aug 29 (ANI): Adam ‘DJ Am’ Goldstein – the celebrity disc jockey known for dating starlets and surviving a horrific plane crash – was found dead yesterday in his New York apartment, after suffering a reported drug overdose.

According to TMZ.com, cops found prescription drug bottles inside DJ AM’s residence on Lafayette Street in Lower Manhattan after the 36-year-old’s lifeless body spotted face-down in his bed at around 5:23 pm by a friend, who was concerned he hadn’t heard from the performer in several days.

The New York Post reports that drug paraphernalia was found in the apartment.

The star, who has dated Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore, battled drug addiction in the past.

His celeb friends were quick to issue tributes via social networking site, Twitter, reports The Sun.

Lindsay Lohan: “I can’t believe this.. i’m in shock. why? why? r.i.p. adam.”

P.Diddy simply said: “DJ AM rest in peace.”

Kelly Osbourne wrote: “I just cant believe that adam (dj.am) is gone i dont want to believe it im in shock. he was one of the most genuine people i have ever met!”

Shanna Moakler, whose ex-husband Travis Barker survived a fatal plane crash with Goldstein last year, was among the first to Tweet, writing: “My deepest condolences for DJ AM, you were a great artist and will be severely missed. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.” (ANI)

MJ’s death probe: Cops discover secret email accounts

London, Aug 24 (ANI): Cops investigating Michael Jackson’s death have discovered two secret email accounts he may have used to buy prescription drugs.

The detectives said they have recently discovered the King of Pop operated the Gmail and AOL sites.

“They could hold vital evidence with regard to Michael’s death and the drugs he was using regularly,” the Mirror quoted a source close to the investigation as saying.

“Not only did he get prescription drugs through a network of doctors, it’s believed he may also have got them from illegal websites or drug cartels. The LAPD has to get a search warrant first and this takes a few days,” the source added.

It has also been said that police have got the number for a private mobile phoneline used by Jacko.

The detectives had not been told about the rarely used number until last week. There’s a possibility that the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker used the phone to contact people for his drugs. (ANI)

Michael Jackson’s £13.3M insurance policy in jeopardy

London, July 15 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s 13.3 million pound life insurance policy is hanging in mid-air as officials are reportedly investigating whether his death was “self-inflicted”.

The singer had named his three children Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II, as sole beneficiaries.

But the multi-million pound payout due to the youngsters, after the death of their father last month, appears to be in jeopardy, as insurers are allegedly probing the circumstances under which the King of Pop died.

Authorities were said to be looking at the possibility that Jackson did not die naturally, and his death could even be tagged as suicide because of his long running abuse of prescription drugs or that his failure to declare his addictions nullifies the policy.

“The insurers are investigating the possibility this was, in fact, not natural death,” the Daily Express quoted the New York Post as saying.

“Also investigating whether he was totally truthful or evasive or did he actually lie when applying for this policy… Their tactic is gearing up to say his not-so-natural death was self-inflicted by his lifestyle.

“I’m hearing they may go further with the tack that his history of drugs amounts to suicide. The policy does not pay out on suicide,” it was added. (ANI)

‘Jackson’s minders threatened doctor into giving him prescription drugs’

Washington, July 14(ANI): A doctor has revealed that Michael Jackson’s bodyguards had threatened him when he refused to give the singer prescription drugs at Las Vegas in 2003.

The unnamed physician claims to have visited the icon in his hotel suite after he was told that Jackson was suffering from cough and sore throat.

“The whole thing was staged. It was all a lie. They just wanted drugs. They wanted me to call in all these pills under someone else’s name,” Contactmusic quoted him as telling Las Vegas Review Journal newspaper.

He described: “His minder started giving me a rough time. He was trying to intimidate me. I said, ‘I can’t do that,’ and he replied, ‘What do you mean, they always do that.’ “

The doctor who spoke in condition of anonymity said that he first thought the episode to be a prank on him.

He said: “The handler came up to me and put a finger in my chest and said, ‘You do that.’

“I was waiting for someone to jump out of bushes and say ‘You’ve been punked!’ I felt like I was on ‘Candid Camera.’ “

Now, the doctor believes that the King of Pop was suffering from autism, which is a brain development disorder.

He said that the singer displayed “classic signs of autism”, that include poor social interaction and communication, abnormal intensity or focus, severe insomnia and unusual eating habits. (ANI)

Jackson popped 55 different pills everyday

London, July 12 (ANI): Late Michael Jackson had been popping a total of 55 different pills everyday in his final six months, according to reports.

The news came in line with the announcement that results of drug tests on the ‘Thriller’ singer’s brain and blood will be delayed further.

The decision was made after 28 prescription medicines were found at his rented mansion in LA, reports the Daily Star.

Drug Enforcement Agency officers have found dozens of bottles, boxes and bags of pills while searching the property in Holmby Hills where Jackson died.

Among other drugs they seized the highly dangerous surgical anaesthetic Propofol, which is legally available only to hospital patients and is administered via intravenous injection.

Propofol comes under the list of drugs found under the trade name Diprivan.

According to experts, without proper monitoring, the drug could lead to cardiac arrest -which ultimately caused Jackson’s death.

One LA-based doctor described the astonishing cache of drugs as a “guaranteed cocktail of death”.

It included the potent painkillers Demerol and OxyContin. (ANI)

Online prescription drug purchase may endanger your health, warns expert

Washington, July 12 (ANI): An expert at The University of Texas at Austin warns that prescription drugs’ purchase via the Internet, though more convenient, may endanger the buyer’s health.

“There’s a big problem with rogue Web sites,” says Dr. Marv Shepherd, the Klinck Centennial Professor in the College of Pharmacy and director of the Center for Pharmoeconomic Studies at the university.

“It’s very difficult to determine whether a Web site represents an authentic pharmacy or a counterfeit drug pharmacy. You can’t tell the good guys from the bad guys,” adds Shepherd, whose research and expertise on drug importation and drug counterfeiting has been featured on CNN, NPR and in Newsweek, Time, U.S. News and World Report, the New York Times, Washington Post and USA Today, among others.

Shepherd reports that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) surveyed Canadian pharmacy Web sites, and found 11,000 Web sites claiming to be Canadian sites selling pharmaceuticals.

However, according to the researcher, closer analysis revealed that only 214 pharmacies in Canada sell pharmaceuticals over the Web.

As regards the other 10,000-plus sites, he said that they included website in Pakistan, Southeast Asia, Mexico and even Washington State.

He warned that consumer ordering pharmaceuticals from them might receive counterfeit drugs with incorrect dosage, false labeling, no pharmaceutical benefit or worse.

“For many counterfeit products, it is difficult to distinguish the genuine product from the counterfeit product without a forensic test. They may have the brand name on them, but they aren’t the brand name product,” Shepherd says.

He says that people can avoid the risk by confirming if a pharmacy is licensed in the state, by checking the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) for links to their state board.

He says that people can also look for the Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites seal on the site. By clicking on the seal, he adds, a visitor is linked to a site where information about the pharmacy is maintained by the NABP. (ANI)

Jackson battled drug addiction, says doctor

Washington, July 9 (ANI): Michael Jackson battled drug addiction and was advised to lay off anaesthetic Diprivan as a sleep aid, claims the late star’s long-time dermatologist and friend.

Dr. Arnold Klein said that he was aware that the King of Pop, who complained of sleep trouble, was on Diprivan while he toured Germany, and suggested him against its use.

“Michael at one time had an addiction. He went to England and withdrew from that addiction in a secure setting where he went off drugs all together,” CBS News quoted Klein as telling CNN’s Larry King.

He added: “I told him he was absolutely insane. This isn’t a drug you can repeatedly take.”

Jackson’s death boosts public concern over prescription drug abuse risk

Washington, July 8 (ANI): The massive media coverage around Michael Jackson’s death has given a boost to public concern over the risks of prescription drug abuse, suggests a survey.

According to the findings of The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Jackson’s alleged prescription drug misuse has left patients asking more questions about the dangers involved.

“While circumstances surrounding Michael Jackson’s cause of death are still speculative, the media attention has opened dialogue about the dangers of prescription drug abuse,” ASHP president Lynnae M. Mahaney, M.B.A., FASHP said.

“Medications can make a tremendous difference for people suffering with chronic pain and these patients should seek treatment.

“However, these medications are extremely powerful and when used improperly they can cause serious harm, even death,” she added. (ANI)

Jackson’s death reopens old wounds for Heath Ledger’s family

Melbourne, July 6 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s death has opened some old wounds for Heath Ledger’s family, especially his father Kim.

Ledger died from an overdose of prescription drugs while battling insomnia and the flu and Jackson died of a suspected cardiac arrest, believed to have been caused by a cocktail of prescription drugs.

Kim insists that Jackson’s drug-related death has hit too close to home.

He said the similarities between Heath and Jackson’s death had left his family reeling.

“On the day Michael died I spoke to my daughters and former wife Sally and we all had such a down day,” Herald Sun quoted Kim as telling Woman’s Day.

“At the end of the day, we’re all responsible for what goes into us and I blame Heath for not being responsible,” he added. (ANI)

Jackson fans flood website handing out memorial tickets

London, July 4 (ANI): Nearly half a billion Michael Jackson fans flooded the website handing out tickets for the King of Pop’s funeral at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Fans were told to register on www.staplescenter.com to enter the draw for 17,500 free tickets to grab a chance to attend the two-hour funeral on July 7.

Devotees swarmed the site within hours of the shock draw news, leaving the website crashing a few times.

More than 8,000 fans will learn if they have been lucky enough to land a pair of tickets on July 5, after the registration closes on July 4.

“It is the family’s wish to create a service and a celebration that all of Michael’s fans around the world can be part of,” The Sun quoted Staples Center boss Tim Leiweke as saying.

Meanwhile, preparations were being made for the expected massive turnout outside the Staples Center for the ceremony, which will be broadcast live globally.

Uri Geller had to scream at heavily sedated Jacko to wake up during trip to UK

London, Jul 2 (ANI): Israeli/British magician Uri Geller has revealed that he once had to scream at late Michael Jackson to wake him up during a trip to the UK, as the singer was heavily sedated.

Geller, 62, said that he was very worried about the star when he did not wake for the private London Zoo visit his aides had fixed up, and though he tried his best, the visit had to be cancelled as Jacko was in no shape to go.

“I was so worried about him. The trouble is nobody said ‘no’ to Michael and that was a big problem,” the Sun quoted him as saying.

Geller also revealed how he often found himself yelling at the singer over his addiction to prescription drugs. I told him – shouting and screaming – that he would die if things continued as they were,” he added. (ANI)

Jackson’s ‘drug hell and secret girlfriend’ revealed

London, July 2 (ANI): Michael Jackson had a secret girlfriend, and he died from excessive drugs provided by corrupt doctors, the star’s bodyguard has claimed.

Matt Fiddes alleged that his and guru Uri Geller’s efforts to hide drugs and needles from the singer’s room often failed because the King of Pop managed to get some more from the doctors, who he said billed fans up to 10,000 pounds for introductions to their idol.

“I never witnessed him actually taking drugs but I knew they were there and I confiscated packages, and Uri did too,” Sky News quoted Matt as saying.

“And Uri confiscated injection equipment from his room … Uri would scream at Michael, you know, intensely, to stop doing this but we were getting pushed out.

“The doctor had such an influence over Michael that we felt our efforts were falling on deaf ears. As far as I’m concerned they have Michael’s blood on their hands, they know what they’ve done and there’s people out there who could have helped, could have stepped in but didn’t do for financial reasons.

“We went to great efforts to keep the doctors away. But as soon as we said anything and it gets back to Michael, Michael would have a screaming fit that we were interfering with his private life, that he knew what he was doing and he was in denial,” he added.

The 29-year-old further slammed reports that the Thriller hitmaker was gay, insisting that he met his secret love on various occasions.

He said: “I’m not going to name who she is but I think the family were aware that there was someone special in his life who he loved and adored and had his ups and downs with. I don’t know how long they’ve been a couple. I know she’s been with him for some time in different capacities but…it’s up to her if she wants it to come out or the family to speak about this very private information.”

Matt, who owns a network of martial arts schools around the UK, further said that Jackson was far from taking hard drugs.

He said: “Michael Jackson was not a druggie. There was no cocaine or anything crazy like that. It was prescription drugs and painkillers from what I understand.”

Speaking about the childe abuse claims, Matt said: “The guy was so naive and so trusting … we never doubted Michael, we knew he was innocent right from the start and what the real reason was, as far as we were concerned, was financially motivated.” (ANI)

Jacko ‘accidentally killed himself while trying to get sick’

Melbourne, July 1 (ANI): Michael Jackson inadvertently killed himself while trying to get sick enough to avoid tour commitments, according to a prominent author.

Jackson’s contract with the firm handling the 50-show tour stated that if the singer cancelled any concert, he would have to pay a penalty to the promoters, according to The Daily Beast.

However, most contracts have a medical infirmity clause, whereby if a performer is hospitalised no penalty needs to be paid, reports News.com.au.

Author Gerald Posner says that a top member of the singer’s entourage has told him that Jackson wanted to cancel several shows without having to pay out his touring company.

Jackson intentionally took a large amount of prescription drugs to induce a trip to hospital, according to the advisor,

The advisor reportedly said: “Like a child who doesn’t want to go to school… Michael thought he could get away from his obligations if he had a ‘note from the doctor’.” (ANI)

Now, Deepak Chopra questions actions of Jacko’s doctor

Washington, July 1 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s friend Deepak Chopra has joined other critics in casting a shadow of doubt over the actions of the late singer’s doctor in the star’s finals moments.

Dr. Conrad Murray was said to have spent 30 minutes performing CPR on the unconscious King of Pop before calling 911.

He evoked serious criticism for performing CPR on Jackson’s bed, and not on the floor, where it would have been more effective.

Experts further slammed Murray, questioning why he waited half an hour to call for the emergency services.

Murray, who was quizzed for three hours by the Los Angeles Police Department on June 27, was also suspected of injecting Jackson with the potent painkiller Demerol before the star collapsed in his home.

Jackson died aged 50 on June 25 from an apparent cardiac arrest purportedly triggered by an overdose of prescription pills.

And now revered Indian-American medic Chopra has questioned why Murray did not use withdrawal drug Narcan when he had realised the icon was unconscious from an apparent drug overdose.

“Any emergency room or any doctor who sees a doctor with an overdose, the first thing they do is give Narcan… Within minutes you see a response,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

However, Murray’s lawyer, Edward Chernoff, said that contrary to reports, the doctor did not give Jackson the powerful painkillers in the hours leading up to his death.

He said: “I believe when the toxicology (results) come back, you’re not going to find narcotics.” (ANI)

Second Jacko autopsy leaves his family reeling

London, July 1 (ANI): The Jackson family were left reeling after a private second autopsy on the singer’s body confirmed the appalling findings of the first one.

The family had demanded their own private autopsy after LA coroners ruled out foul play in the first one.

Leaked autopsy details from the first report suggested that the late King of Pop was a virtual skeleton, barely eating and with only pills in his stomach while his body was riddled with needle wounds and surgery scars at the time of his death.

Jackson’s hips, thighs and shoulders reportedly bore the needle punctures, stemming from alleged injections of narcotic painkillers, given three times a day for years.

A mass of surgery scars was also apparently spotted due to at least 13 cosmetic operations, while investigating the icon’s shock death in Los Angeles on June 25.

And now, the Jackson family’s attorney Brian Oxman has said the results from the second report were consistent.

“The second autopsy is done…Any autopsy report would note a number of unique and significant marks and injuries on the body of Michael Jackson,” British tabloid The Sun quoted him as saying.

“Firstly the four puncture marks on his chest from the needle. Well I’ve seen those marks on his chest – I’ve seen his body – so I know they’re there.

“His weight – we know he was incredibly lean. Regarding baldness, Michael does have a distinctive patch on the side of his head. I know that his brother, who is only six years older, has a similar fuzz from losing his hair and has to dye it.

“Regarding the tablets in his stomach – well we know he was taking a lot of prescription drugs. That hasn’t been denied,” he added. (ANI)

Jacko ‘almost died same way in 2004′

Washington, June 30 (ANI): Michael Jackson, who died of a suspected cardiac arrest in his Holmby Hills estate last Thursday, almost passed away the same way once before, according to sources.

Sources say that almost exactly the same scenario played out in 2004 in his rented Coldwater Canyon mansion.

Jackson’s brother Randy found him unconscious in his home and immediately called a paramedic friend who lived very close by who rushed to the house, according to the source.

“Thankfully they were able to save him but it was all very frightening. It was a doctor that didn’t normally treat Michael and he was shocked, absolutely shocked by the amount of prescription medications he saw at the house,” Fox News quoted the source as saying. (ANI)

Jacko ‘took morphine overdose’ after infamous Bashir interview

London, June 29 (ANI): Michael Jackson nearly died after taking a morphine overdose following his infamous interview with British journalist Martin Bashir, a doctor who treated him has claimed.

Bashir spent eight months interviewing the King of Pop at his Neverland ranch for the controversial TV special Living With Michael Jackson.

The broadcast showed Jackson’s confession of offering his bed to child friends, which later led to sexual abuse charges against the late icon for which he was found not guilty.

A doctor, who was treating Jackson’s brother Randy, alleged that the Thriller hitmaker landed himself in danger after he worked himself up into a “frenzy of anxiety” over a TV interview and collapsed in 2003.

“His frame was light but not severely malnourished. He probably weighed about 11 stone,” the Daily Star quoted the expert as having told Britain’s Mail on Sunday newspaper.

“Randy said Michael had been under severe stress because of the television programme which had aired that night.

“I recall him saying that an earlier TV documentary had caused all manner of problems and that Michael had worked himself into a frenzy of anxiety over this one,” he added.

The doctor further said that he warned the family against the singer’s addiction problems, saying: “I was deeply disturbed by the event. I told Randy that his brother should voluntarily go to a rehabilitation centre to deal with his obvious addiction problem… I wanted to discuss with Michael directly the damage he was doing to his health and the very real concerns I had for his well-being. I never heard from any of them again.”
