Brit women donate more than a ton of bras for recycling scheme!

London, March 10 (ANI): British women have donated more than a ton of bras in the first year of Hertsmere Borough Council’s bra recycling scheme.

Approximately 17,913 bras weighing just over one ton have been collected in special pink recycling bins, which can now be reused by women in poorer countries.

The Hertfordshire authority has also donated 1,000 pounds to the Breast Cancer Campaign charity, 1 pound for every kilo collected at eight sites across the area.

Councillor Jean Heywood, Environment Portfolio Holder, praised the women who participated in the initiative.

””This really is great news. It”s brilliant that this scheme has been so well supported, thank you to everyone who has taken part,” the Telegraph quoted her as saying.

””By recycling your bras not only will less waste be sent to landfill but women in poorer countries will benefit and you will be helping to fund research into breast cancer,”” she added. (ANI)

Nicolas Cage ‘auctions off LA mansion’

London, Sept 14 (ANI): Actor Nicolas Cage is auctioning off his Los Angeles mansion, which once belonged to celebs like Tom Jones and Dean Martin.

The sources had said that Cage had sold the ‘Pink Palace’ to designer Christian Audigier’s for just over 9.3 million pounds, however, now reports suggest the Con Air star has decided to sell his home as part of a sealed bid sale, reports the Daily Express.

According to RealEstalker.com, Cage had put the property on the market in 2007 for 23.3 million pounds.

He had bought the home in 1998 for 4.3 million pounds.

The website said that all sealed bids for the home are scheduled to be reviewed on 24 September (09), with the minimum bid for the seven-bedroom spread set at 6.6 million pounds- 28 per cent of the original asking price. (ANI)

Roger Waters narrates controversial short film on Palestinians

Washington, Aug 24 (ANI): Pink Floyd star Roger Waters has lent his voice to a new short film ‘Walled Horizons’ that focuses on the hardships of Palestinians living in the shadow of Israel’s controversial separation barrier.

The rocker narrates the 15-minute film, which was made to mark the fifth anniversary of the International Court of Justice’s opinion that the barrier’s meandering route through the occupied West Bank is illegal.

The musician apparently wants the West Bank security barrier torn down, as he believes it was built on Palestinian land and is a hurdle on the path to peace, reports Contactmusic.

He said in an interview on Israel Radio: “What a lot of people don’t understand… because of the sketchy news reports… is just how many Israelis are prepared to compromise and make peace with their neighbours… They would accept the resettlement of people who moved into the West Bank.”

According to TheRockRadio.com, the film was made in 2006 when Waters performed in Israel. (ANI)

Melbourne, August 23 (ANI): American singer Pink has confessed she would love to stay back in Australia.

The pop star apparently made the confession while touring the country during her Funhouse concerts.

“My time Melbourne has been awesome … I finally know my way around the city,” the Couriermail quoted her as telling Showbizspy.

“I’ve said that before but now I’m clear.

Pink concert alerts Oz woman to her ballooning breast implant

Cairns, Aug 20 (ANI): An Aussie woman, who woke up with one breast double the size of the other, said that had she not attended American singer Pink’s concert, she would not have known there was a problem with her breast implant.

Cattle station worker Kimberley Koy’s breast had ballooned out overnight after a plane trip to Sydney to see Pink perform, and fearing that it might be breast cancer, she immediately visited her doctor.

But at the clinic, Koy came to know that the breast problem had started a week earlier, when she was stabbed in the chest by a runaway cow’s horn while working on a Cape York property.

Koy, who has C-cup silicone gel breast implants, had brushed the incident off as the horn did not break her skin or leave a bruise, and was oblivious to the damage it had done to her implant until it popped up after the plane flight.

“When I told the doctor I’d flown she said, ‘That makes perfect sense because air pressure forced out the silicone’,” Cairns.com.au quoted her as saying.

“I could have gone years without knowing.

“When I woke up the day after the plane trip it was double the size of my right one … I thought I had breast cancer.

“If I hadn’t have gone to the Pink concert I wouldn’t have known my breast was leaking,” she said.

Koy said that her breast had since shrunk, but still edged out further than the right one.

“It was like a coconut to an orange; it was bloody weird and incredibly noticeable,” she said.

“I just wanted everyone to hear my story because I think it is very funny.

“It felt like one breast had filled up with milk and the other hadn’t,” she added. (ANI)

8-year-old Brit boy hopes to become world’s youngest wing-walker

London, Aug 19 (ANI): An eight-year-old boy is hoping to become the youngest person in the world to wing-walk.iger Brewer, from London, will be taking to the skies on the wing of his grandfather’s biplane.

His grandfather is Vic Norman, who operates the only formation wing-walking team in the world.

Tiger will be soaring through the skies in Gloucestershire at 100mph and flying high at about 1,000 feet.

His mum, Zoe, is completely unfazed by what her son is up to.

“My siblings and I have all grown up doing all sorts of weird things and I wouldn’t let him do it if I didn’t think it was perfectly safe,” Sky News quoted her as saying.

“He’s with my father and I trust him absolutely,” she added.

Tiger, meanwhile, is ‘excited, and a teeny bit nervous – and happy’.

“I’ve stood on a biplane but I’ve never flown on one,” he said.

The world record is presently held by Guy Mason, son of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, who first wing-walked in 2001 at the age of 11.

Norman is hopeful his grandson will fly into the record books.

“It will be wonderful to fly with Tiger on my wing, he shares my passion for flying and it will be a very special experience for us both,” he said. (ANI)

Melbourne, July 4 (ANI): The Brazilian wax may have become a thing of the past, for loads of people in Australia are now opting for butt facials, the new deep cleansing beauty treatment concentrating on below the belt maintenance.

Karma Medispa, on Sydney’s north shore, has been offering its clients the “different” facial for as much as 250 dollars for about six months.

Clients are treated with hot towels and exfoliation before the microdermabrasion machine takes over, leaving a ticklish feeling.

Then Demi Moore’s cosmetic favourite VelaShape is used to supposedly do away with any cellulite, followed by an application of a pale pink mask over the butt during the one-and-a-half hour session.

“It was something different, everyone that’s had one absolutely loves it,” the Daily Telegraph quoted salon director Carene Kiss as saying.

Mariah Carey’s rare designer gown up for grabs

Washington, May 26 (ANI): Mariah Carey is auctioning off a rare designer dress especially created for her to raise money for breast cancer research.

The ‘Hero’ singer is supporting charity Susan G. Komen for the Cure to sell a hot pink, asymmetric fishtail gown on auction website eBay.com.

The couture dress is one of only three in the world and was made by Julian Contreras after Carey asked fans to send in fashion designs inspired by her perfume, ‘Luscious Pink’.

Ever since the gown has been up for sale, fans are clamouring to get hold of it and have already quoted a price of 5,600 dollars, while there are still five days for the bidding to close.

The item was listed with a starting price of 500 dollars, reports Contactmusic. (ANI)

A dozen of Havelock women pose nude for cancer charity

Wellington, May 25 (ANI): In a bid to raise funds for breast cancer and the fire service, twelve of Havelock women have posed nude as “calendar girls”.

One of them even went to the extent of wearing nothing but a mussel shell for the shoot.

Tania Varcoe posed for her photograph outside The Mussel Pot restaurant dressed just in a big mussel shell.

In fact, just when the mussel maiden was getting clicked, she was spotted by the passengers of the InterCity coachline.

“I was shocked, as I use those buses to go to Christchurch and I knew the driver, but as I am normally dressed I don’t think he recognised me,” the NZPA quoted her as saying.

She added: “The passengers stared, as they would, seeing a female outside a restaurant with no clothes on dressed only in a mussel shell.”

Varcoe, a hairdresser by profession, works with Blush and owns Metamorphosis, a beauty therapy and massage business.

“Being famous in Havelock is great, but I will avoid nude shots in future,” she said.

The pin-up girls include-a new mum, volunteer fire fighter, nurse, retailer, real estate agent and publican-who have all posed for pictures which are a little naughty but not offensive.

According to ship broker Pat Copp, the brain behind the calendar, it would put a smile on faces and show Havelock’s innovative spirit and character.

The calendars will go on sale for 15 dollars each at a Pink Ribbon Breakfast at the Slip Inn on May 30, and the proceeds will go to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation and Havelock Fire Service. (ANI)

Bertagnolli wins Giro stage – Menchov retains pink jersey

Faenza, Italy – Leonardo Bertagnolli of Italy won the 15th stage of the Giro d’Italia as the last man standing from a breakaway group while Russia’s Denis Menchov retained the overall lead.

Bertagnolli, who rides for the Diquigiovanni team, was part of a 16-strong group which rode away from the main field early in the 161-kilometres stage from Forli to Faenza.

The group broke up on the last of four climbs, to the Monte Trebbio 25km from the finish, and Bertagnolli crossed the line pumping his fists after 4 hours 18 minutes 34 seconds.

Serge Pauwels of Belgium led a four-strong group to finish second, 54 seconds behind the winner, and Marco Pinotti of Italy was third.

Menchov arrived shortly afterwards as part of a larger group as he retained the pink jersey. He has a 34-second lead from Italian Danilo di Luca, who attacked in vain on the day, and 43 seconds from American Levi Leipheimer.

Lance Armstrong finished almost one minute behind Menchov as he is yet to make an impression in his first Giro.

The Giro continues on Monday over 237km from Pergola to a mountain arrival at Monte Petrano. (dpa)

The ‘Sober’ singer, who recently reunited with husband Carey Hart, further insisted that when it comes to romance, she doesn’t have a ‘type’.

Recently, Pink denied saying she is attracted to women, claiming that her fans were misled because she doesn’t have a “type” when it comes to love, reports Contactmusic.he said: “Things are wonderful. The ‘orgy island’ in Malaysia that wants you to bare all under the moonlight!

Kuala Lumpur, May 19 (ANI): A couple, who is believed to have arranged a sex orgy party on Pulau Perhentian, have been fined 25,000RM under the Entertainment Act 2002 for organising a party without permit.

According to reports, the wild party was going on full swing before Besut District Council (MDB) enforcement officers moved in on the revellers.

It was the second time that such a party had been held on the island. The first party, themed ‘Buffalo Bars Pink Lady’, was organised on May 3.

The party that took place on May 10 was themed ‘Come bare under the moonlight’. It left council officer Razman Ahmad, who led the team, startled to find condoms strewn on the secluded beachfront where the party was held.

“I can’t disclose more facts as the council has lodged a police report on the matter, but I can tell you that there were activities associated with sexual intercourse on that night and this was substantiated by the discovery of sex paraphernalia,” Star Online quoted Ahmad as saying.

Though he has declined to give any details on whether he witnessed the revellers having sex when council officials arrived at the scene, investigations have shown that the organiser was a 31-year-old man from Kedah who arranged the party with his girlfriend from Ireland.

The lady in question is under police investigation for organising similar parties, including in Langkawi and Port Dickson, and also for being the one responsible for posting the invitation on her Facebook.

Ahmad added that the scantily-clad teenagers, some of them foreigners, were intoxicated when his team arrived at 1am in two speedboats, and after he decided to call his superior to brief him on the situation, the police were informed and 15 officers arrived at the scene.

The officers seized alcoholic drinks worth about 90,000 RM, loudspeakers, audio equipment, psychotropic pills, drug and sex paraphernalia during the raid on the party attended by 200 teenagers, who were invited via Facebook.

Of the first party, council president Wan Mustafa Wan Hassan said that the officers were unable to reach the site on time as they received the tip-off late. (ANI)

Pink and hubby Carey Hart reunite

Washington, May 15 (ANI): Pop star Pink and her husband Carey Hart have reportedly reconciled with each other, and are back together.

Pink revealed in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres that she and Hart are a couple again, and that she finds it funny to perform her hit song “So What” – which contains some choice words for Hart.

“He’s in the audience so when I sing, ‘He’s a tool,’ now that’s my favorite line. Hi, Honey, that’s you,” People magazine quoted her as saying.

When Ellen congratulated Pink for reuniting with Hart, she thanked her with a smile.

Though Pink and Hart separated earlier, they did not separate on a legal basis.

Pink denies saying she’s a bisexual

Washington, May 5 (ANI): Pink has blasted a report in British newspaper claiming she said she was a bisexual, and dubbed their story “100 percent fabrication”.

News of the World had reported that the singer, who recently got back together with her former husband Carey Hart after a year long separation, had said she would be equally happy with a woman or a man.

The 29-year-old slammed the reports on her Twitter account, insisting the claim was far from the truth.

“I just read that I’m bisexual — so 1991. Good thing people write articles about me so I can get my facts straight,” Us magazine quoted her as saying.

Pink further expressed her fury over the recurrent rumours questioning her sexuality.

She added: “[I] can’t wait for the day when people stop talking about sexual preference or that a woman is a CEO and actually star making the world liveable.” (ANI)

The renowned singer, born as Alecia Moore, has long been dodging questions if she would involve herself with another woman.

No remarriage for Pink, Carey Hart

Washington, Apr 28 (ANI): Pink has dismissed reports claiming that she is to remarry Carey Hart.

The singing sensation said that she would like to model her relationship with Hart on unwed couple Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.

Though the couple has reconciled since its separation last year, Pink has no plans to remarry contrary to reports suggesting that the duo was organizing a low-key sunset ceremony at their home in Malibu, California.

“I don’t know where the remarriage thing came from. That kind of came out of the air. We are definitely back together,” Contactmusic quoted Pink, as saying.

“We never really legally got divorced. Paperwork for both of us is really annoying. So we’re choosing to be together.

“Our role models are Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon and Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn – people who just choose to be together every day because they want to be there.

“And labels have never been our thing, so, we’re just diving into that empty swimming pool, headfirst,” she added. (ANI)
