Weeping girl’s ghostly figure in Brit hotel room’s mirror spooks couple

London, May 6 (ANI): A frightened couple spotted a scary figure of a girl weeping in the mirror of their hotel room, and fled after managing to take a photo.

The pair said that the girl had curly hair and a check dress. They said that she was crying.

They immediately checked out of the room. The hotel bosses locked it after the ghastly figure was seen, reports The Sun.

“The couple went to reception and were hysterical. The man said he wanted to get out of the room ASAP,” a guest at the Ramada Hotel in Watford, Herts said.

“When they were asked why they wanted to move, the man said he had seen a ghost. Staff didn”t believe it but then they were shown the picture.

They were upset and said the image of the child was crying and crying and it was moving in the mirror. The guest was properly shaken,” the guest added.

An investigation has been launched to find out if anyone from the staff witnessed the happening in room 307.

“We have to be careful because we do not want to upset people, so we have closed off the room to check that there is nothing untoward there,” a spokesman for the hotel group said.

“We have to investigate it. Anyone coming in is not given that room until we have done our full investigation. We are speaking to housekeeping to see if there is anything that would support what has been said by the guest,” he added.

“We are quite confident there is nothing untoward,” he further said. (ANI)

Lindsay can”t quite understand why she makes headlines

New York, April 30 (ANI): American actress Lindsay Lohan has no idea why she is an easy ‘target’ for drama.

“I think there”s a misconception,” Lohan said.

The 23-year-old actress’ latest controversy arose when she posted a photo on Twitter where she has posed with a gun.

“I don”t know why I am such a target, but I think there”s a big misconception of who I am as a person,” the baffled actress told L.A.’s 102.7 KIIS-FM.

“It”s a very build-you-up-to-take-you-down industry, and I am working hard. I am doing a clothing line, I am starting a movie soon, I”m producing some shows,” Lohan said.

“I”ve just been working a lot, and it”s not a crime to go out and have fun with your friends. I do realize it”s silly of me to give people what they want – to see me out at night,” she added.

Infact, her father Michael Lohan was concerned about her life because of Lohan’s nightlife, reports The New York Daily Post.

Michael had barged into LiLo’s apartment along with police. He later said that he wanted to check if Lindsay and her little sister Ali were alright.

She also said that her father”s public comments take away “from all the work I am doing. It only builds negative press and that”s why it really hurts me.”

Aside from who the public thinks she is, Lohan insisted that she”s just “a nice person” who loves “entertaining people.” (ANI)

Facebook removes al Qaeda’s No.2 page on networking site

London, Apr 26 (ANI): Facebook has axed a page of a second fugitive al-Qaeda leader after it appeared on the networking site to spread terror messages.

Ayman al-Zawahiri, who has a 16.5 million pound price on his head equal to Osama Bin Laden, was using Facebook to reach out to extremists, The Sun reports.

Egyptian Zawahiri’s page had a photo of him with a semi-automatic rifle in the background.

Videos included a truck bombing in Afghanistan. The page could be found via a Voice of Jihad site, which included film clips calling for attacks on UK and the US.

Experts say militant groups have been scrambling in recent weeks to get on sites like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Facebook said: “These pages have been removed.” (ANI)

Kim Kardashian defends Twitter cat pic

London, April 21 (ANI): Kim Kardashian has defended herself over her cat photograph, saying she didn’t harm the kitty by any means.

Peta had criticised Kardashian for holding a cat by the scruff of its neck for her Twitter photo.

A spokesperson said: “Kim Kardashian isn”t the only person who mistakenly thinks that because a mother cat picks up her kittens by the scruff of the neck that a supportive hand under the rump isn”t needed.”

However, the stunner insists she did nothing wrong, reports The Sun.

“I have been getting negative comments regarding the way I was holding the kitty, but rest assured, the owner and vet were on set and showed me how to pick him up.

“The cat was not harmed in any way and is perfectly fine! I love animals and would never do anything to harm any animals,” she said. (ANI)

Resting fat people not lazier than skinnier counterparts

Washington, Apr 21 (ANI): When a slim person is seen laying down watching TV, people assume they”re resting. But when people see a fat individual relaxing, it”s automatically assumed they”re lazy and unmotivated.

Now, Tanya Berry, from the U of A”s Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation, says these stereotypes about overweight people need to be addressed.

According to Berry, just because a person is overweight, it doesn”t mean they don”t exercise, and just because a person is thin, it doesn”t mean they are fit and healthy.

In the University of Alberta research, Berry had a group of study participants look at a number of pictures that would flash on a computer screen.

After each photo a sedentary word such as “lazy” would appear.

After the participants looked at each picture they were asked to say the colour of each word. Berry says when a picture of a thin “couch potato” came up, the participants were quick to say the colour of the word that appeared. But when a photo of an overweight person lying down appeared, the study participants paused.

Berry concluded that the slow reaction resulted as the stereotyped thoughts automatically set in, with the participant thinking about the person being lazy rather than thinking about the colour of the word. (ANI)

Merak asylum seeker to be moved within days

The Indonesian government says it will transport a group of 181 Sri Lankan asylum seekers from the port of Merak to temporary accommodation within the next four days.

Speaking on his mobile phone from the boat, a Sri Lankan asylum seeker known as Nimal told the ABC he does not know when the buses are coming to take them.

Indonesian officials showed some asylum seekers a photo of an island near Singapore. Nimal says the officials refused to say if they would be put in a detention centre on the island.

Nimal says all the male asylum seekers have got back on the boat, but the women and children are staying in tents on the beach.

Indonesia is disappointed no staff from the Australian embassy in Jakarta turned up to help broker the deal with the Sri Lankans.

DFAT has released a statement saying the matter is Indonesia’s responsibility.

The statement also praised Indonesia for the great patience it has shown in its handling of the Merak case.

Missing man now major crime probe

Adelaide police have declared the disappearance of Salisbury East man Craig Leonard a major crime.

The father-of-three, 41, walked out of his home on January 10 and has not been seen since.

Police now think Mr Leonard has met with foul play.

Acting Superintendent Denise Gray hopes the public can help police work out what happened.

“We’re hoping that someone will see his photo and that they’ll provide us information or somebody that has suspiciousness about his disappearance might come forward and can do so anonymously,” she said.

Mr Leonard is 170 centimetres tall, of heavy build, balding with shaved greying blonde hair and has tattoos on both upper arms.

Police say he needs daily medication for serious health problems.

Mr Leonard’s partner said they were now separated and he had been due to move out within days to live with a friend.

She told police she had received several strange telephone calls from a man claiming to be a friend, saying her husband was being taken care of.

The sale of 11 coloured snaps from 1959 will take place at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on June 25 this year, organised by US specialist Julien”s Auctions.

“In the slides Marilyn appears to relax between takes on the beach. She is wearing the revealing dress in which her character attempts and succeeds to seduce Curtis”s character,” The Telegraph quoted Boss Darren Julien as saying.

Other items to be auctioned at the two-day event include an Italian-style carved chair with green velvet upholstery used for Marilyn’s last ever photo shoot. (ANI)

When Amy Winehouse shoved a fan in face for taking her picture

London, Mar 17 (ANI): ‘Rehab’ singer Amy Winehouse is said to have attacked a fan of hers as he was trying to take a picture of her.

Winehouse, 26, was seen and photographed lashing out before grabbing the man’s iPhone and shoving it in his face on March 16 outside a supermarket with pals in Marylebone High Street, central London.

She claimed she feared the man was going to attack her and was acting in self- defence.

“This guy lifted his iPhone up to try to take her picture. She tried to take it out of his hand and they grappled with it,” the Daily Star quoted an onlooker as saying.

“Then she got it and open-handedly hit him in the face. She started shouting but wasn’t trying to hide what she’d done,” the onlooker said.

Her spokesman said she was just retaliating because the man had pushed her friend out of the way so he could take her photo.

“She asked him: ‘Why did you do that?’ and then shoved him,” he added. (ANI)

Now, text from beyond the grave courtesy RosettaStone!

Washington, March 16 (ANI): Thanks to the latest technology, headstones can now convey much more information than just names and dates – a photo and note written by the deceased, delivered right to your phone.

The product is called RosettaStone and comes from a company called Objecs, reports Discovery News.

RosettaStone looks like a granite iPod with a few symbols visible on the outside and a microchip embedded on the inside.

That device is then secured into the headstone so that visitors can see those symbols. Each symbol represents an area of the deceased person’s life. (ANI)

Bingle lawyers return serve to AFL

Lara Bingle’s legal team has hit back at the AFL, saying the league would not accept the original complaint over the Brendan Fevola photo saga.

On Friday AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou publicly accused Bingle’s lawyers of being uncooperative while also taking a swipe at her agent Max Markson.

Having already spoken to Fevola over the infamous nude photograph, Demetriou said the AFL had “made several requests to interview Ms Bingle but they haven’t agreed to those requests, that’s their prerogative”.

But law firm Kennedys, who are representing Bingle, has released a statement in response attacking the AFL.

“She is not the one under investigation and she made her complaint publicly and clearly this week in a national women’s magazine,” the statement, which was released in point form, read.

“Further, since the AFL refused to accept her public complaint, we made the complaint on her behalf to the AFL.

“We became very concerned when the AFL would not even accept the complaint we made on her behalf before they proceeded with their investigation.”

The release went on to state that the firm had sent two statutory declarations on Saturday before, curiously, demanding the AFL release the two declarations – plus any correspondence with Fevola.

“Since the AFL wants to conduct their investigation in public, we now call on the AFL to release to the public those statutory declarations, Brendan Fevola’s statement and the email correspondence with us since they started their so-called ‘investigation’,” it read.

“Lara Bingle did not take the photo, did not keep it, did not circulate it and did not publicise it – and in these circumstances the AFL still demanded that she make herself available to a tape-recorded interview by their investigator.

“It is not surprising that we have acted to protect Lara from this interrogation by the AFL when she has been subjected to two weeks of one of the most disgraceful and unprecedented attacks on character in this country.

“It was completely insensitive and oppressive for the AFL to pursue her in this manner at this time.”

The statement also said the AFL had “a clear conflict of interest” and the investigation of Fevola should be referred to an independent body or person, “preferably a woman, such as a judge or senior counsel”.

Bingle’s lawyers then ended their statement by saying: “Finally, we are not seeking publicity by this media release.

“This is intended to be a response to the publicity sought by the AFL for its investigation. It is intended to address serious matters that needed to be said for the record.”

Eight banned over alcohol-related violence

Eight people in the Bendigo area have been banned from all licensed venues for up to two years.

The bans are being enforced by the Bendigo liquor accord which represents about 60 licensed venues.

Spokesman Andrew Lethlean says the longest bans are applying to people who have caused significant problems with anti-social violence.

“We’ve had a couple of incidents in Bendigo of recent times, in relation to glassings, serious assaults, that sort of thing,” he said.

“So they’d be the ones getting up to two years.

He says the list of people who have been banned will not be made public.

“There’ll be a photo and their name will be held on the premises. But it will only be privy to security, the bar staff, and management.”

Snapper convinced he photographed UFO over St Paul’s Cathedral

London, Sep 18 (ANI): A Brit amateur photographer, who was taking photographs for a competition, is convinced that he has snapped a UFO flying over St Paul’s Cathedral.

Tim Letten, 43, from Essex, was taking a picture of the famous London landmark, when the mysterious orb was captured along in the photo.

He, however, did not think much of the object until he uploaded his photos on his home computer.

“I was taking pictures along the river for a competition and captured a picture of an object flying across the sky which I thought was an aeroplane,” the Sun quoted him as saying.

“When I got home I put it on my computer, zoomed in and thought ‘It must be a UFO!’

“Looking at that, if anyone doesn’t believe, they must be mad!” the excited designer added. (ANI)

The 26-year-old former exotic dancer has been open about her bisexuality and is currently seeing West.

Why Ronnie Wood and girlfriend called it quits

London, Sep 18 (ANI): Ronnie Wood and his girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova relationship ended because of a furious bust-up after she was knocked back from modelling his clothing range.

The fight was so bad that police had to be called to resolve the issue.

According to reports, Ivanova, 20, was hoping to model his clothing range, but she got angry after getting knocked back.

The model was left fuming when the Rolling Stones star, 62, presented his sketches to the brand, which is producing his clothes.

“They loved his creations, but when he pulled out a nude photo of his girlfriend, a few eyebrows shot up,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

“A lot of people see Kat as fame-hungry – there is no way they’d approve her image on the clothes,” added the insider.

Then, Kat had set her sight on modelling the gear at Paris Fashion Week.

But Ronnie’s pitching did no good for her, and she allegedly threatened to end it all.

“Kat saw Ronnie’s clothing as a springboard to getting out there,” said the source. (ANI)
