Paris Hilton says sex tape ruined her chance to be like Di

London, May 19 (ANI): Paris Hilton blames her scandalous life for preventing her from fulfilling her dreams of being like Princess Diana.

The celebrity socialite makes the claim in a new documentary – titled Paris, Not France – screened at the Cannes Film Festival. The film looks at Hilton’s empire and goes behind the scenes of her life.

Hilton’s bad behaviour includes her infamous sex tape with Rick Solomon, other leaked saucy videos and pictures, a charge for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and a short spell behind bars, reports The Sun.

Talking about that sex video, Paris says: “When I heard about it I thought: ‘Yeah right. It’s going to be a look-a-like. It’s going to be a joke.’

“But a couple of hours later it was all over online and then I saw it. t’s the most intimate thing you can do and the whole f***ing world is watching it and laughing at you.

“That’s not what I wanted when I was a little girl. It’s not what I planned. I always looked up to people like Princess Diana and now I can never be like that.”

The documentary was shot in London, New York, Tokyo, LA and Las Vegas.

Hilton said her public persona was nothing like how she was behind closed doors.
he says: “People see me as a Barbie with a perfect life, a fantasy… maybe that’s what they like. There’s a mystery about me because how I am in public is completely different to how I am in private.”(ANI)

Tom Waits had forbidden Keith Richards from talking about him for biography

Washington, May 12 (ANI): Rolling Stones star Keith Richards was forbidden to talk about his friendship with Tom Waits to celebrated British journalist Barney Hoskyns by the gravel-voiced singer himself.

Hoskyns approached Richards while researching Waits for his new book ‘Lowside of the Road: A Life of Tom Waits’, and was delighted when the rocker agreed to be interviewed.

“Tom and his wife asked Keith not to speak to me… I just don’t think they want anyone to know too much about Tom Waits. They don’t want any major revelations creeping out,” Contactmusic quoted the writer as saying.

He added: “He’s the pre-eminent cult figure of our time, a maverick who cannot be categorised and his whole persona is a screen Waits hide behind. He’s fascinating and perhaps we don’t need to know too much about him.”

However, Hoskyns conducted over 70 interviews for his unauthorised expose, and he found out that Waits could well be responsible in some way for the Rolling Stones’ longevity.

The writer added: “Steve Jordan, who was Keith’s drummer in ‘The Expensive Winos’ told me that Keith was creatively spent in the mid-1980s and it was Waits’ records that inspired him to go off and do solo work – and that fuelled his work with the Stones.”

Hoskyns will launch his much-anticipated new Waits biography in Los Angeles on May 15 with a book signing at the Mr. Musichead Gallery. (ANI)

Ukraine extradites two Moldovans over anti-government protests

Kiev/Chisinau – Ukraine has extradited a pair of Moldovan nationals suspected of organising violent anti-government protests in Chisinau, a Ukrainian official confirmed Thursday.

Businessman Gabriel Stati and his associate Auren Marinescu have been returned to the Moldovan capital “and are no longer on Ukrainian territory,” said Oleksander Shinalsky, a spokesman for the Prosecutor General’s office.

Moldova’s government requested last week that Ukraine to detain and extradite the pair, on suspicion of financing violent demonstrations in Chisinau earlier this month.

Ukrainian border police detained Stati and Marinescu on April 9, at an airport in the Black Sea port Odessa.

Stati’s father is energy billionaire Anatoly Stati, a longtime opponent of Moldova’s ruling Communist government. The senior and junior Stati both have accused Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin of conducting a witch hunt against Moldovan opposition members involved in street violence in Chisinau on April 7 and 8.

A crowd of mostly student-age protestors demonstrating against what they alleged was a fixed April 5 election result overran Moldova’s parliament building in Chisinau, setting it on fire.

One person died and more than 250 persons were injured the street battles between demonstrators and police. Moldovan law enforcers since the riots have detained some 190 suspects without filing formal charges.

Voronin on Wednesday said the government should stop searching for suspects as calm had returned to Chisinau’s streets.

Moldova’s government has also moved against Romanian agents allegedly responsible for organising the chaos, as well as cracking down on protestors.

In the last 10 days it has switched off Romanian television transmissions in Moldova, throwing most Romanian journalists out of the country, and declaring Romania’s ambassador to Moldova a persona non-grata.

Romanian officials have denied the Moldovan claims. (dpa)

The 48-year-old new American leader described Singh as a “wise” and “wonderful” man as the two leaders met on the sidelines of G-20 here last night.

“First of all I should say that your Prime Minister is a wonderful man. He is wise and decent man,” said Obama, clearly impressed by the economist-PM’s persona.

“He (Singh) has been doing a wonderful job in guiding India even prior to being the Prime Minister along the path of extraordinary economic growth. That is a marvel, I think, for all of the world,” the US President remarked, apparently referring to Singh’s pioneering role in India’s economic liberalisation.

On his part, Singh told Obama: “You are much loved and respected in India.”

Reciprocating young US President’s lavish praise, the 76-year-old Indian leader said Obama had “brought a ray of hope” and the youth look up to him “as an icon”.

Singh said under Obama’s leadership, challenges like climate change could be met.

The Prime Minister said India and the US share “same dreams and same vision” and the two countries will like to work together to realise those dreams.

He invited Obama to India, saying a warm welcome awaits him there.

Obama acknowledged the role played by Singh in unleashing economic forces, because of which India was enjoying a “high stature” in the world polity.

The first black US President also hailed India’s democratic and diverse character.

“India is full of diversity and energy and is complex just like the USA,” Obama said.

Obama said the US sees India as a global partner and together the two countries can play a critical part in meeting the challenges of 21st century like climate change, science and innovation.

‘Gandhi’ caps loose their charm with new age politicians

Lucknow, Apr 1 (ANI): The once famous ‘Gandhi’ cap, synonymous with politicians, is losing its charm as new age politicians abandon it for other modern and chic options.

Though some leaders don these caps during interactions with the public in small towns or in the rural hinterlands, most prefer to sport the coloured caps of their political parties.

“The Gandhi cap is no longer synonymous with politicians these days. Caps coloured in party colours have replaced these Gandhi caps. However, there are certain leaders who do wear these caps and try to keep the tradition alive, like Rahul Gandhi, who has been seen sporting the cap on numerous occasions. But to be very frank, the era of Gandhi caps has gone now,” said Anurag, Manager, Gandhi ashram.
However, with elections around the corner, some politicians do use these Gandhi caps to charm their way into the voters’ hearts, portraying a clean and patriotic image.

Veterans feel that if politicians sport these caps during their normal days, it would have a greater impact and might restore public faith.

“Politicians should wear these caps not only during elections, but also during normal days. It would enhance their persona and help in restoring the people’s faith in them,” said Rameshwar Nath Mishra, a Gandhi follower.

There has been a slight rise in the demand for Gandhi caps in view of the upcoming general elections in India, much is left desired to revive the dying tradition of wearing these caps, which used to be quite a hit with older politicians.

The elections might help these caps regain their lost foothold with the politicians, but after the poll process is over and votes won, it’s just a matter of time when these caps would again be thrust in the shadows. By Kamna Mathur ANI)

‘Lord of Fraud’ found guilty of plotting world’s largest bank raid

London, Mar 5 (ANI): Hugh Rodley, who has been nicknamed the “Lord of Fraud,” has been convicted of plotting to carry out the world’s largest ever bank raid.

The fraudster, who called himself Lord Rodley after buying a title, was the mastermind behind a plan to hack into the computers of a City bank and transfer 229 million pounds to accounts set up across the world by a Soho sex shop owner.

He along with his close aides targeted the accounts of technology firms Casio and Toshiba at Sumitomo Matsui bank in the City.

The thug and his gang used a crooked security guard to disable the CCTV systems and let in a group of hired “hackers” via a back door.

The hackers were allowed in the back on the pretence that they were playing a game of poker, reports The Telegraph.

Echoing the plot of a Hollywood movie, the plan was almost successful but was foiled at the last minute due to a faulty password being entered into the computers.

According to reports, Rodley, found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London, is one of Britain’s most prolific fraudsters.

He manufactured a persona as an aristocrat by becoming a Lord of the Manor to hide a criminal record going back 30 years.

It was in 2006 that Rodley masterminded the bank raid plot, along with his business partner Bernard Davies, 74.

However, on January 16, just three days before the trial began, Davies committed suicide after complaining of threats from an underworld villain known only as Mendes.

During the trial it was found that Rodley had tried to defraud the English National Ballet by banking a fake cheque from the company for 45,120 pounds.

Rodley even scammed his other business partner, David Nash, who ran a sex shop in London’s West End, by squandering more than 27,000 pounds on credit and store cards by stealing Nash’s identity.

Rodley and Nash will be sentenced today and at the same time the court will also deal with bank insider and security supervisor Kevin O’Donoghue, 34, of Birmingham, Belgian computer expert Jan Van Osselaer, 32, and his “recruiter”, Frenchman Gilles Poelvoorde, 35, who admitted conspiracy to steal. Melbourne, Jan 22 (ANI): Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson is so smitten by Aussie model Miranda Kerr’s beauty that he wants to name a plane after her.

The hell-raising aviation bigwig is set to arrive in town in preparation for the inaugural flight of the VAustralia service from Sydney to Los Angeles.

And he wants to name one of the seven aircraft in the VAustralia fleet after the David Jones/Victoria’s Secret model.

A spokesman for A V Australia has confirmed that Kerr is being considered as the airline’s answer to Nancy Bird Walton – the late aviatrix, after whom the Qantas 380 was named.

“The first VAustralia aircraft is the Didgeree Blue,” News.com.au quoted the spokesman, as saying.

“The aircraft are usually female in persona and will likely be named after inspiring contemporary women, who match the brand personality for Vaustralia,” he added. (ANI)

Bollywood’s latest flick ‘Delhi 6′ gets star studded premiere in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 20 (ANI): Loud cheering and whistling echoed in the air as over a hundred eager fans stood outside a movie theatre last evening to catch a glimpse of Bollywood glitterati that descended upon New Delhi for the premiere of ‘Delhi 6′.

The actors, including the cast and crew of the film, caused much euphoria and frenzy amongst the star stuck Delhiites.

Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, who shot to fame with his phenomenal ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Delhi 6′ captures life in the narrow by-lanes of New Delhi.

The film, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor, is Mehra’s third directorial venture after ‘Aks’ and ‘Rang De Basanti’.iding high on the success of ‘Rang De Basanti’, Mehra said expectations were equally high for ‘Delhi 6′.

“We are keeping our fingers crossed. Expectations are high,” he said.

The title of the film ‘Delhi 6′, is inspired by the postal code of an area in Delhi where the story is based. This area houses the famous Chandni Chowk and the Mughal era monuments of Jama Masjid and Red Fort.

Betraying nerves on the first public screening of the film, Sonam Kapoor, one of the lead actors, said, “I’m nervous with anticipation.”

The story revolves around Roshan who comes back from New York to India with his ailing grandmother. He doesn’t know that this quick trip will turn into the longest journey of his life.

Citing similarities between his screen role and his real life persona, Abhishek said, “I’m so excited. I hope audience love the film. I found a lot of similarities and that’s why I was really keen to do the film.”

Obama transition team told not to include Kashmir,India in Holbrooke’s mandate

Washington, Jan.27 (ANI): A high-level delegation from India is reported to have warned American foreign policy experts, including three officials who were part of the formal Obama transition team — that New Delhi might preemptively make Richard Holbrooke persona non grata if his mandate officially included India or Kashmir.

The warning was conveyed at an off-the-record Aspen Strategy Group meeting held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, D.C. in early December, people familiar with the meeting said.

Among the Obama transition figures who attended the meeting, held as part of the Aspen Institute’s U.S. India Strategic Dialogue, were former Navy Secretary Richard Danzig; Kurt Campbell, the director of the Aspen Strategy Group who is expected to be named assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs; and former Pentagon official Ashton Carter, a professor at the Harvard Kennedy School.

Obama administration officials, however, insist that no member of the transition team met with foreign governments or representatives of foreign governments during the transition.

One official said in an e-mail message that the Obama transition team did not have to be influenced to exclude India from Holbrooke’s official mission, because it was “not contemplated” for the South Asia envoy’s portfolio to have an Indian role.

According to the New York Times’, Holbrooke’s name as envoy for South Asia was doing the rounds as early as January 7.

“The notion of an envoy on Kashmir or that would include Kashmir came up as soon as Obama mentioned it,” one Washington South Asia expert not associated with any of the campaigns and who did not attend the dialogue, said on condition of anonymity.

“It was widely discussed by the 50 key South Asia watchers,” he added.

And while the Obama transition may not have met with any foreign governments or representatives of foreign governments in any official capacity, foreign governments including India’s did try to influence the future administration’s policy decisions by working the phones, meeting with Obama transition figures at the margins of conferences, at Washington receptions, and through third parties.

“The message was clearly conveyed by India to the Transition and received,” The Cable was told.

“It led to a change in how Richard Holbrooke’s mission was publicly described and unveiled.”

“There was a whole delegation of Indians who came through in early December through the Aspen dialogue,” he said.

“They were almost all former officials. They were interacting … with people in various capacities, in addition to formal meetings inside the government. They were all over this – what Holbrooke’s portfolio would be. The Indians were preemptively irate and were reacting in perhaps a disproportionate way” due to concerns that Holbrooke’s mandate might officially include India or Kashmir.

The National Security Council did not respond to messages left by Foreign Policy. (ANI)

Lily Allen seeks motivational therapy

Washington, Jan 27 (ANI): Despite her self-assured public persona, Lily Allen is seeking counselling to become a more positive person.

The ‘Smile’ hitmaker has confessed that she struggles with self-confidence, and has booked to see a motivational expert.

“I’ve got a session next week with a guy that’s going to give me positive mental attitude… We’re doing an hour’s session,” Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.

The crooner recently admitted that she sought counselling last year after suffering a miscarriage, and admitted she struggles with periods of self-doubt about her talents.

She said, “I’m convinced I’m not talented at all, and I’m sure people are just about to figure it out… I don’t think what I do is any good.

“I think I’m awful. I’m not a musician. I don’t play an instrument. I write nursery rhymes.” (ANI)

David Bowie in talks to reprise rock star ego at music festival

Washington, January 26 (ANI): David Bowie is reportedly being approached to reprise his legendary Ziggy Stardust persona for an exclusive headline performance at a U.S. music festival.

The 62-year-old musician had abandoned his theatrical rock star ego in 1973, alleging that the character, which went on to become a rage, came in the way of his creativity.

And Bowie, who is presently working on a new album, was reportedly lending an ear to the organisers of this year’s Coachella event in California over a one-off appearance.

“Coachella tried to book Bowie last year and he refused, so they got Prince to headline instead,” Contactmusic quoted a source as telling British newspaper the Daily Star.

“But there’s a very strong chance they will be able to persuade him this year,” the source added. (ANI)
