London, Sep 19 (ANI): Locals of a North Carolina community, where Patrick Swayze’s film ‘Dirty Dancing’ was shot, are planning a memorial service for the late star.

The ‘Ghost’ star died on Monday evening after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

The town of Lake Lure will pay homage to the 57-year-old during a memorial service on Saturday evening at Firefly Cove, a housing development that was Camp Chimney Rock when ‘Dirty Dancing’ was filmed.

While the memorial service is free, visitors will be asked to donate to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Rev Everette Chapman, who will be speaking at the memorial service, said that the town’s residents remember Swayze as a kind family man.

Chapman, who lived at Lake Lure when the movie was filmed but did not meet the actors, said he would talk about Swayze’s determination to live each day to the fullest.

“I’ll ask people their memory of him and just talk about him as every woman’s heart-throb and every man’s envy,” said Chapman.

Hackers capitalise on Swayze’s death

Sydney, Sept 16 (ANI): Hackers are using Patrick Swayze’s death to push off spurious anti-virus software to Internet users and infect their computers with viruses.

The 57-year-old Swayze died of pancreatic cancer on Monday.

Many bogus websites claiming to provide information on the death of the Dirty Dancing star have mushroomed up.

Computer security company Sophos recently showed in a recent video that hackers list these sites on the first page of search engines like Google.

Visitors to these sites are asked for an anti-virus scan and the result shows that the user’s computer is infected by Trojans, which are actually not present. The sites then try to sell fake anti-virus software to the users to clean up their systems.

Many sites also infect the users’ computer with viruses that can crack passwords and credit card numbers and send them to the hackers.

Hackers have also used the deaths of Michael Jackson and Natasha Richardson to lead users to virus infected sites.

The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Sophos senior technology consultant Graham Cluley as saying: “Clearly the cybercriminals are no slackers when it comes to jumping on a trending internet topic, and are more professional than ever before in spreading their fake anti-virus scams.” (ANI)

Patrick Swayze battled cancer like a ‘beast’, says book

And then, his wife Lisa, was informed that Swayze had pancreatic cancer and was given just a 5 percent chance to live.

However, Swayze didn’t give up on his career because of his poor health, but he was even more determined to work.

After receiving the news of his illness, Swayze called Sony executive Jamie Erlicht, whose company was co-producing his A and E show, ‘The Beast’.

“He told us, ‘Guys, I have some horrible news. But if you can be patient and stand by me, I’m going to come back and do the show. I’m in great condition. I’m a cowboy. I’m a dancer. I’ll beat this,’” the New York Daily News quoted Erlicht as saying.

In fact, crewmembers have cited that he worked as long as 12 hours at a time, all while refusing painkillers.

He said: “My big regret is the physical damage I’ve done to my body. I can do almost anything physically and I used to believe I was invincible, breaking bones over and over, playing football, doing gymnastics, diving, ballet, doing my own stunts, kick boxing, staging fights … it all seems a little stupid to me now.” (ANI)

“He’s working his tail off. He’s sick, there’s no getting around it, but, like all of us, we all know we’re going to die. We don’t know when and what’s going to take us.

“As it turns out, there’s no expiration date on his a**, so he’s going forward. He’s going back into training for The Beast, because he’s running and jumping in it,” she said.
