Millicom says to consolidate Honduras ops

July 1 (Reuters) – Emerging markets telecoms firm Millicom (MICC.O) (MICsdb.ST) will take full control of its Honduras subsidiary, leading to a pro forma boost in revenues, core profit and free cash flow, it said on Thursday. Under a revised shareholders’ agreement, Millicom’s local partner has given Millicom an unconditional call option for its 33 percent stake in Celtel for the next five years.

Millicom has granted a put option to its partner for the same period in the event of a change of control of Millicom.

The deal, which will see the Honduras operations consolidated from the third quarter, will have no impact on reported net profit for Millicom.

The pro forma impact on reported figures for the year to December 2009 increases revenues by 6 percent, EBITDA by 7 percent and operating free cash flow by 9 percent.

Moran wanted to change his will, court told

A life-long friend of Des Moran has told the Melbourne Magistrates Court Moran planned to cut Judy Moran’s grandchildren out of his will.

Judy Moran was one of four people charged with murder after Des “Tuppence” Moran was shot dead in an Ascot Vale cafe last year.

In a statement tendered in court, his friend, Sandra Cummins, said weeks before his murder Moran told her he wanted to change his will.

The court was told the estate was to be split equally between Judy Moran and her dead partner Lewis Moran’s four grandchildren.

“Tuppy said he wanted to change his will as Lewis’s grandkids never visited him or saw him,” she said.

She told the court Judy Moran always suspected her brother-in-law was cheating her out of millions of dollars.

Ms Cummins told police that a short time after an earlier attempt on Mr Moran’s life, family statues bequeathed to Judy Moran were stolen during a break-in.

“Tuppy also thought that because the shooting was at night that maybe the shooter was there for the break-in rather than to kill him,” she said.

The court heard Judy Moran believed her dead partner Lewis had put aside millions that went to his brother after his murder.

Ms Cummins told the court in that in 2005, Judy Moran had visited her brother-in-law and stated, “I want what I am entitled to”.

The murder committal hearing for Judy Moran, Suzanne Kane, Geoffrey Armour and Michael Farrugia is continuing.

Heyward murder case now facing delay

The Supreme Court has been told sentencing submissions for two men convicted of murdering South Australian woman Glenys Heyward may not be heard until September.

Matthew Heyward, 22, and Jeremy Minter, 28, were found guilty of helping plot Ms Heyward’s murder in 2007, stemming from a multi-million-dollar family property fight.

Lawyers for both men have now told a hearing in Adelaide they want to obtain psychological appraisals before making submissions on non-parole terms for the men.

But defence lawyer Grant Algie said it was unlikely Heyward’s report would be ready before he took overseas leave for three months.

A tentative hearing date was set for June.

The judge said any appeals would not delay sentencing.

Ms Heyward’s former partner Neil Heyward, who was accused of masterminding the murder plot, killed himself while in custody.

The two are set to star together in new romantic comedy ‘Bad Teacher.’

Gunman ‘didn’t intend harm’

A Tasmanian court has heard a man was only millimetres from death or serious injury after a bullet was fired through the window of the car he was travelling in with his partner and four year old child.

The 26 year old gunman, Craig Raymond Silva, has pleaded guilty to two charges of aggravated assault.

The Supreme Court in Hobart heard Silva followed the victims, his former friends, in a car after seeing them outside a Claremont shopping centre last October.

The court heard Silva firstly fired a double barrel shotgun at the victim’s car and later used a rifle to fire three more shots in their direction.

One of the rifle shots went through the car windscreen and struck the male victim’s beanie.

Prosecutor Daryl Coates said the bullet missed the victim by millimetres, and the crime occurred only 50 metres from a school at Gagebrook.

Silva’s lawyer told the court his client was remorseful and had not intended to harm the victims, only to frighten them.

Pierce Brosnan says new film script reminds him of son’s car crash

London, March 24 (ANI): Pierce Brosnan has revealed he struggled with his new film’s script because it brought back dreaded memories when he almost lost his son Sean in a car crash.

The 56-year-old star says he initially tossed writer-director Shana Feste”s script under the bed since he found it “too heavy” and decided to do the film only when his movie partner persuaded him.

“This young woman had written this beautiful script, called The Greatest, and it”s about the loss of a son and my son, Sean, I almost lost him a number of years ago in a terrible accident,” the Daily Express quoted Brosnan, as saying.

He went on: “You get that dreadful call at 4.30 in the morning and he got airlifted out and he survived, and this film is about the loss of a son and the family coming together again.

“When I read it I said, ”No, I don”t wanna go there, it”s too heavy,” and threw it under the bed and then my partner… said, ”Look, check it out again, You”ve gotta do this,” so I read it again and said, ”OK, let”s go for it.””

Brosnan added: “It”s a beautiful film… It”s a really tender, powerful film.” (ANI)

Fears QR sale may hamper inland rail plans

Infrastructure company ATEC says the proposed sale of Queensland Rail (QR) could disrupt plans to build an inland railway.

ATEC and QR are part of a consortium that is finalising plans to build the railway linking the Surat Basin to the Port of Gladstone in the state’s central region.

ATEC chairman Everald Compton says speculation about the sale is disrupting plans to build the railway.

“We’ve spent years getting this far with the track – we can’t let it stop,” he said.

“My hope is that the new owners of QR will approach it positively and we can move forward.

“I can’t see any reason why we can’t go ahead, provided there’s cooperation between the three partners and it continues.”

Mr Compton says the new owners of QR’s coal freight arm may decide not to go ahead with the project.

“What we want to make sure of is that whoever winds up owning QR has got the same commitment to complete the line, will make the same investment to do that, will make the time and staff [available] to do that,” he said.

“We’ll still build it, we’ll find another partner and build it, but it’s a bit of an issue.”

How to make relationships work, by Jennifer Aniston

London, Mar 20 (ANI): Former ‘Friends’ star Jennifer Aniston has doled out some advice on relationships, and why some are not easy to get along with.

In an interview on The Ticket, Aniston, 41, talks about how she feels better than she ever has, and doled out her take on what makes relationships so difficult these days.

“We’re all a lot more complicated. We’ve also become more wary and more demanding, maybe,” the Mirror quoted her as saying.

“Men and women are developing higher expectations and sometimes that creates too much pressure because your partner is not always going to be everything you want.

“We have to learn to appreciate our differences and enjoy the fact that we all evolve differently over time. So it’s only natural that couples have to adjust to those changes.

“If you’re open to that, it can be interesting and you can make that part of your journey together. Relationships are not static things. You have to keep communicating and trying to understand your partner,” she added. (ANI)

The two were seen in front of the ritzy Danieli Hotel, a stone’s throw from Saint Mark’s Square, and cruising the Renaissance city’s canals in water taxis.

In the film, directed by Florian Henckel Von Donnersmarck, Depp plays an American tourist whose life is put in danger when an Interpol agent, played by Jolie, uses him to entrap a criminal with whom she once had an affair.

Jolie arrived in Venice last month with partner Brad Pitt and their six children.

Based on the 2004 French movie Anthony Zimmer with Sophie Marceau and Yvan Attal, The Tourist is set for release next year.
