Ancelotti backs Chelsea to win Treble next year

London, May 16 (ANI): After winning Double, Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has set his sights on a Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup Treble next year.

Ancelotti said that he can fulfill owner Roman Abramovich’s ambition of winning Champion League without adding players to his squad.

“We wanted to win the Champions League this year. It didn’t happen but we will try next season. This team has the quality to win the Champions League without change. We have to be happy with these trophies. It’s right to have a celebration because we had a fantastic season,” News of the World quoted Ancelotti, as saying.

“For me it’s right to have a holiday but I want to think about next season. We know Chelsea have never won the Champions League and it’s one of our aims for next season. And we want to win the Premier League and the FA Cup again.

“We will start next season having won the Double. I think that will put more attention on us, but this is normal. We are proud to have this attention,” Ancelotti said.

Skipper John Terry celebrated the unique achievement in the club’s history and put Ancelotti on the same level as ‘Special One’ Jose Mourinho.

“Jose is always going to be a massive part of this football club. But other managers have come here in the last three or four years and not really lived up to expectations.

“Now Carlo has come in and in his first season he has achieved something that no other manager or group of players have ever managed at Chelsea. So Jose will never be forgotten – but nor will Carlo and this group of players,” Terry said. (ANI)

Abramovich backs Ancelotti’s move to have Kaka at Chelsea

London, May 16 (ANI): Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will be awarding coach Carlo Ancelotti for winning Double title by backing his move to have Kaka at the club.

Ancelotti is a huge admirer of Kaka, who last year turned down a move to Manchester City.

Instead, Kaka headed to Real Madrid in a 56 million pounds switch from AC Milan but his first season in La Liga has been a troubled one, News of the World reports.

Kaka has been dogged by injury and has had to angrily deny rumours that he was more concerned about being fit for the World Cup than for Real Madrid’s domestic campaign.

Ancelotti is encouraged by rumours in his pursuit for Kaka.

The pair had a very successful, six-year relationship and won the Champions League together in 2007.

Abramovich has sanctioned to tighten the purse at Chelsea and that might be reflected in upcoming contract negotiations with the likes of Joe Cole and Nicolas Anelka.

And the Russian owner is hopeful that talent from the academy will push through in the next couple of seasons.

But after the outstanding domestic season, he still wants Chelsea to win the Champions League and knows he needs to back Ancelotti and give him the financial tools to compete with the superpowers in the transfer market, News of the World reports. (ANI)

Ancelotti wants Torres to play for Chelsea

London, May 14 (ANI): Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted for the first time that he would like to see Liverpool striker Fernando Torres playing for them.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is willing to give 50 million pounds needed for Torres and Blues striker Didier Drogba is also keen to link up with the Spanish ace.

Ancelotti said: “It’s not only Drogba – I would like to play with Torres. He’s a very good player. But this is not an issue for now. He is a Liverpool player and is a good striker but we have two fantastic strikers and this is not for this moment.”

Ancelotti is on the brink of winning a second trophy in his maiden season, The Sun reports.

He praised the work of Portsmouth manager Avram Grant, while admitting that Chelsea’s victory at Fratton Park two months ago was the turning point of their season.

“That game was an important game for us because it was a difficult moment. At the time they didn’t have much motivation but, on Saturday, they have a lot of motivation in the final,” Ancelotti said.

“Avram is a very good coach. He was here in Chelsea for one year and did a very good job. And also this year, Portsmouth have had a difficult year but he did well to take them to the final and get his players to go out with strong, strong motivation,” he added. (ANI)

Ancelotti to face Abramovich inquest even if Chelsea wins doubleLondon, May 5 (ANI): Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich will want to know from coach Carlo Ancelotti why his side fared so badly in the Champions League, even if the Blues win the double title this season.

London, May 5 (ANI): Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich will want to know from coach Carlo Ancelotti why his side fared so badly in the Champions League, even if the Blues win the double title this season.

Director Mike Forde said: “The day after we win the title, we will ask ourselves why we didn’t win the Champions League.”

“In football, it is about getting better every day, that’s what we are aiming for,” The Sun quoted Forde, as saying.

Chelsea will lift the Premier League crown if they beat Wigan on Sunday, and then, have an FA Cup final with Portsmouth on May 15.

Even if Chelsea wins both, the disappointment of their exit to Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan in the Champions League last 16 remains, as it dealt a big blow to Abramovich’s dream of making the club biggest on the planet.

“Mourinho started with this vision years ago and he passed the torch successfully to other big managers like Guus Hiddink and Ancelotti. That the best coaches in the world think we are doing a good job is clear,” Forde said.

“Carlo Ancelotti brought only one assistant with him and that tells us we have a good staff of our own – and that”s what it is all about in the end,” he said.

“So, the way we are working, that’s not a secret – every club in the world can have a copy of that. The real secret, if you can call it that, is the people who work for us,” Forde added. (ANI)

Ancelotti vows to change Chelsea’s history of sacking managers

London, Mar 24 (ANI): Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has vowed to change the club’s history of sacking managers.

The Blues manger heads to Portsmouth tonight for a must-win match if he wants to keep Chelsea’s title hopes alive.

Owner Roman Abramovich has fired three bosses in as many years after seasons without Premier League or Champions League glory.

Ancelotti saw his side exit Europe last week and then draw 1-1 at Blackburn on Sunday to leave the side third in the Premier League, The Sun reports.

“This club is one of the most important clubs in the world so it’s normal that when you start the season the aim is to win. If we don’t win, then something”s not good. And so it’s normal that something is changed.

“But for me to win or to lose… that doesn’t mean anything with the contract. My future is definitely at Chelsea next season,” Ancelotti said.

When it was pointed out to him that history suggested the opposite, he said: “I am here to change the history of this club and I am an optimistic man. I have a very good relationship with the club and with Roman. My position is not in discussion.”

To guarantee what would be a remarkable Double in his debut season, Ancelotti must revive his players and guide them to 10 victories from now on.

And despite winning just five of their last 11 matches in all competitions, the former AC Milan manager is confident the Blues can do it.

Ancelotti, who has more than two years left on his contract, said: “We have to win 10 games. They have courage. They have personality. We have to have energy, strength, confidence to win every game.” (ANI)

Chelsea can do the double this season: Mikel

London, Mar 23 (ANI): Chelsea midfielder Mikel is confident that the club can still lift the double this season, after owner Roman Abramovich turned up unannounced at the club’s training ground, asking every single player and member of the coaching and medical staff to perform or perish.

The Russian billionaire addressed his Blues squad in the aftermath of their Champions League exit to Inter Milan last week.

But Chelsea stumbled again on Sunday as they only managed a 1-1 draw at Blackburn to surrender their title advantage to Manchester United.

Mikel insists the surprise Abramovich rallying call sets them up well, The Sun reports.

“He just came to show support, nothing else. He came to cheer the players. We have a Double to win.

“He’s a football man, he understands us entirely. Obviously everyone was shattered after Inter and he wanted to make sure we kept our heads up,” Mikel said.

The Blues know if they fail in both the league and FA Cup it will count as a failure of a season.

Mikel added: “It would be a big disappointment but we know we will win both. We have to fight as a team, we don’t have to play as individuals.”

Chelsea travel to Fratton Park to face Portsmouth tomorrow night.

A win would put Carlo Ancelotti’s men back within a point of leaders United with a trip to Old Trafford looming on Easter Saturday. (ANI)

Abramovich backs UEFA to rein in Man City spending power

London, Aug. 28 (ANI): Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is backing UEFA to crack down on Manchester City’s spending power – because he does not want to flash any more cash himself.

According to The Sun, UEFA president Michel Platini has vowed that any club that does not break even in the next three years will be kicked out of uropean competitions.

Abramovich, who has spent 700 million pounds on the Blues in six years, but no longer wants to pour his fortune into the club, is spurring Platini on.

And, he does not want anyone to forge ahead of Chelsea either.

City have spent 120 million pounds in this transfer window alone in a bid to gatecrash Europe’s top table compared to Chelsea’s 23 million pounds.

But UEFA has adopted the mantra of ‘financial fair play’ in a bid to make the European game a more level playing field.

Platini is proposing clubs can only spend what they earn in football revenues.

He said: “I have met with Abramovich, who is a football person and passionate about the game. He said that we must do something about this. It doesn’t matter if one team doesn’t agree, because this is what the clubs want.” (ANI)

Cole’s 25 mln pound Chelsea deal makes him world’s highest-paid full-back

London, Aug 21(ANI): Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole has signed a new four-year contract with the Blues, which is reportedly worth 25 million pounds- making him the world’s highest-paid full-back.
Cole agreed on a 120,000 pounds-a- week deal as Chelsea fought off Barcelona and Real Madrid, who were keen on signing the star, The Sun reports.

The Blues’ owner Roman Abramovich was desperate not to see his star leave Stamford Bridge and handed him the 25 million pound contract, which will see the England international stay at the west Londoners until 2013.

The 28-year-old has hit the jackpot since quitting Arsenal in 2006, when he claimed they made a derisory offer for him to stay. He has become one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers. (ANI)

Is Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s girlfriend pregnant?

New York, Aug 19 (ANI): Rumours are rife that Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich’s girlfriend Dasha Zhukova is pregnant.

A source has revealed that 28-year-old Zhukova is almost six months pregnant, “but still very active”.

“She and Roman were at the U2 concert at Wembley over the weekend as well as the first match of the new Chelsea (soccer) season,” the New York Post quoted the source as saying.

Zhukova, editor of London’s Pop magazine, has her first issue coming out soon, and her museum, The Garage, is a key venue for the Moscow Art Biennale, which kicks off next month. (ANI)

Chelsea ready to make 42 m pound bid for Aguero

London, Aug.15 (ANI): Chelsea is ready to make a 42-million pound bid for Atletico Madrid superstar Sergio Aguero.

According to The Sun, the club’s Russian billionaire owner Roman Abramovich wants to give coach Carlo Ancelotti a big-name signing.

According to the report, Atletico is likely to turn down the offer and tell Chelsea they must match the 50 million pound get out clause for 21-year-old Aguero.

Chelsea’s offer would eclipse Manchester City’s 32.5 million pound signing of Robinho as the British record. (ANI)

Chelsea’s Terry holds crisis talks with Abramovich

London, July 12 (ANI): Chelsea FC captain John Terry held two hours of crisis talks with club owner Roman Abramovich on Saturday and demanded that he be given a chance to speak to Manchester City, who have shown an interest in him.

According to News of The World, Terry stopped short of handing in an official transfer request, but is determined to speak with City officials over the proposed move.

The move comes 48 hours before Carlos Tevez flies in to Eastlands for a medical to seal his 25-million-pound switch.

Abramovich is desperate to keep Terry but the England captain wants his future resolved before Chelsea leave for their pre-season tour of America on Thursday.

The pair met after Terry and the rest of the first- team squad took part in an event to support Chelsea’s charity partner for the season, Right to Play.

After spending the afternoon at Wentworth, Terry slipped away to talk with the Russian billionaire in a meeting that lasted more than two hours.

Chelsea is reluctant to let Terry leave for City, even for an astonishing 50 million pounds. But the defender is determined to hear what they have to offer.

City chief Mark Hughes is prepared to fly back from the club’s pre-season training camp in Germany to convince the England captain his future is at Eastlands.

Terry, 28, will be offered 280,000-pounds a week plus a five million pound signing-on fee if Chelsea give them permission to talk.

There are already plans at City of setting up a John Terry Foundation, similar to the project proposed by the club during their pursuit of Kaka in January.

City’s new partnership with Umbro, who also hold a lucrative contract with Terry, is seen as crucial to the deal.

Although the defender has told friends it would be a huge wrench to leave Chelsea, he fears they have regressed after the big-spending era under Jose Mourinho.

He is also aware of talk at Stamford Bridge about the proposed transfer fee from City being used to complete the signing of Alexandre Pato from AC Milan for a similar fee.

Terry has become increasingly disillusioned at Blues and is concerned that they will not be able to challenge Manchester United’s domestic dominance next season. (ANI)

Scolari accuses Drogba, Ballack and Cech of dissent and indiscipline

London, June 29 (ANI): Former Chelsea FC coach Phil Scolari has accused three of the club’s stars – Didier Drogba, Michael Ballack and Petr Cech of consistently fanning dissent and indiscipline in team ranks, which eventually led to his sacking by Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

When he joined the club less than a year ago, Scolari appeared to be the ideal man for the job. He had led the Brazilian team to the 2002 World Cup before working wonders with Portugal’s playmakers, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Deco and Luis Figo.

There were no complaints when they kicked off the 2008-09 campaign with a thumping 4-0 home victory over Portsmouth.

Scolari’s 4-1-3-2 formation was hailed as the start of an exciting new era down the Kings Road.ormer boss Jose Mourinho set the benchmark for his successors with the trophies he won. And, Scolari seemed to provide the perfect solution. It looked like a match made in football heaven.

But, behind the scenes, the cracks were already starting to appear.

At the club’s Cobham training headquarters, where Scolari’s lack of English sometimes made it hard for him to get his message across, there were growing signs of discontent.

The players who idolised Mourinho yearned for a return to the Special One’s meticulous attention to detail and intense one-on-one sessions.

What initially started as a few raised eyebrows, slowly turned into dissent and disapproval over Scolari’s training regime and his relatively relaxed approach to coaching and pre-match planning.

And when results started to falter, the boss faced a crisis of confidence, trust and belief from his players.

It culminated in Scolari getting the sack in February this year after just seven months in the job.

“Who do the teams prefer to sack? The stars – who earn four to nine million euros a year with contracts of up to five seasons – or the coach?

“Of course, the first to be dismissed will always be the coach. And the major footballers already perceive their power and do what they wish.

“This was my major problem at Chelsea. Drogba, Ballack and Cech did not accept my methods of training nor my demands.”

And Scolari claimed the trio tried to undermine his authority with unusual medical requests and defiance.

Speaking to O Globo newspaper, he said: “I will never again work in English football. I believe that beginning next year they will have lots of problems. (ANI)

Deco to leave Chelsea

London, June 28 (ANI): Chelsea midfielder Deco has confirmed that he wants to leave ‘the Blues’, following his differences with decisions taken by club owner Roman Abramovich.

“Chelsea is kind of his (Roman Abramovich) toy. Sometimes Abramovich makes decisions that go over the head of the director of football,” The Sun quoted Deco, as saying.

The Portuguese star also criticised Chelsea for chucking Luiz Felipe Scolari.

“The exit of Big Phil was rash. Chelsea is a special club. . If Big Phil was perhaps at Manchester United or Liverpool, they respect the coach and give him time to work. But Chelsea is different,” said Deco.

“Honestly, I did not like the experience at Chelsea. I’m looking for another club where I can feel good,” he added. (ANI)

Chelsea to launch 50 million pound bid for Torres

London, June 21 (ANI): Chelsea is ready to test Liverpool’s resolve with a 50 million pound bid for Fernando Torres.

Carlo Ancelotti has already targeted Torres’ Spain strike partner David Villa, offering Valencia 35 million pound.

Now, the Blues boss is ready to make an audacious attempt to unite Villa and Torres at club level. iverpool manager Rafa Benitez will do all he can to block the move. But he is worried the huge sum offered by Chelsea could tempt American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks.

Liverpool’s true financial state will be revealed over the coming weeks and Benitez is beginning to fear the worst, The Sun reports.

At the end of the season Benitez was hopeful of landing 27-year-old Villa. Now he not only has to face up to Chelsea signing Villa, but also targeting Torres.

Villa’s proposed move to Real Madrid has not gone through because Chelsea’s bid is 4 million pound higher and is preferred by debt- ridden Valencia.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to take advantage of Liverpool’s own money worries by making the sort of offer he hopes Gillett and Hicks will not be able to refuse.t is understood a tentative inquiry was made by a third party in April about how much it would cost to prise Torres away from Anfield.

The message from Liverpool at the time was that there was no chance of Torres being sold. Then in May the 25-year-old striker signed an improved deal to 2013.

If necessary, Ancelotti and Abramovich will settle for just landing Villa. But if there is even an outside chance of snatching Torres away from Anfield, they will take it. (ANI)

Chelsea to spend 18.6 million pounds to snare Russian star Yuri Zhirkov

London, May 30 (ANI): Chelsea has agreed to splash out 18.6 million pounds for Russia star Yuri Zhirkov.

Sun Sport had revealed in March this year that coach Guus Hiddink had recommended the 25 year old, dubbed the Russian Ronaldinho, to Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

Zhirkov’s agent yesterday claimed a four-year deal was signed two days ago and that the CSKA Moscow star will move to Stamford Bridge later this summer.

The left winger, who can also play at left-back, has yet to complete a medical.

And while the details of the contract have been agreed, it has not yet been signed.

Under Hiddink’s advice, Chelsea will look to clear out several players this summer – including Florent Malouda and Salomon Kalou. (ANI)

Ancelotti had two secret meetings with Chelsea boss Abramovich

London, May 27 (ANI): AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed he held two clandestine meetings with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich last year.
He admitted that he agreed to become Blues boss two months ago even though he had yet to sign a contract, but hinted that he might still opt to stay on in Italy.
He also revealed how Abramovich said his side had ‘no personality’ and dreams of becoming like Manchester United, Liverpool or Milan.

The revelations will be hugely embarrassing for Russian billionaire Ambramovich, who fiercely guards his privacy.

According to The Sun, In his book Preferisco La Coppa, Ancelotti said: “The manager of Milan is on a secret mission. I am on my own like 007. Sat behind a driver with the face of a killer. I’m already in Paris going to Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea – who’s looking for a new manager. We’ve already seen each other once, a couple of weeks ago. In Switzerland, in a big hotel in Geneva. I don’t remember the name. Everything was organised by Charlie Stillitano, a friend from the US who works in football. He knows Peter Kenyon, the executive hand of Abramovich at Chelsea, who has expressed the wish to meet me.”
“I was on holiday relaxing after the bitterness of failing to qualify for the Champions League with Milan. Abramovich came after me, it’s a good sign but how many bodyguards! “They are the ones who accompanied me to the Big Chief and to Kenyon. Their team was completed by a lawyer and an interpreter. We sat down and greeted each other cordially and started to talk. Always about football and only football.” (ANI)

Ex-Stamford Bridge boss Grant says Chelsea should retain Drogba

London, May 14 (ANI): Former Stamford Bridge boss Avram Grant believes that Chelsea must hold on to Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba rather than offload him this summer because of his temper tantrums.

Hit man Drogba lost the plot after the Blues crashed out of the Champions League against Barcelona last week.

“He’s one of the best strikers in the world and belongs to Chelsea. When I went there they told me about Drogba and he was excellent when he wasn’t injured. After the Barcelona game, he apologized straight afterwards.

Sometimes you need to understand people – even when you don’t agree with their behaviour,” The Sun quoted Grant, as saying.

Grant, out of work since being sacked by Blues’ billionaire owner Roman Abramovich, revealed he has been offered at least one chance of returning to the English top flight – probably with Portsmouth.

He said: “It’s no secret that I love the Premier League. I have a few options and the Premier League is certainly one of them.”

Grant, in London to attend the Soccerex conference at Wembley, said he was still upset at being shown the door by Chelsea at the end of last season.

He said: “I have said it once and I’ll say it again – every month we got better and better and then reached the Champions League final for the first time in Chelsea’s history. Of course I wanted to stay. I felt very disappointed because I had a long-term plan and there was unfinished business.” (ANI)

Hiddink warns Chelsea stars to play for their future

London, May 5 (ANI): Guus Hiddink has warned his Chelsea stars that they are playing for their future, and insisted that he will not be hoodwinked by one decent game even if it against Barcelona tomorrow.

At least six big names of the club are under the spotlight with Nicolas Anelka, Florent Malouda, Salomon Kalou and Deco most at risk. Chelsea plan to sell this summer to fund new signings, while other contracts will not be renewed.

Even though boss Hiddink may not be staying beyond the end of this month, he will have a big say on who remains at Stamford Bridge, The Sun reports.

The Dutchman meets with owner Roman Abramovich over the next two weeks and the Blues’ performance against Barca in their Champions League semi-final second leg is bound to influence his decision.

“There are, in many clubs, some players who start playing very well in April and May as they know that decisions will be made at the end of the season. You can see that in the whole history of the game. All of a sudden, you see players coming up in these times.

“But, generally speaking, even if players’ contracts are expiring, at a big club you must have this responsibility to deliver. I can have an influence on these players. Not on the people who decide in this club – but I will always make suggestions,” Hiddink said.

Chelsea, who also have the FA Cup final with Everton on the horizon, believe Anelka, Malouda, Kalou and Deco are the most saleable players – as well as being dispensable.

Anelka is the club’s top league scorer but, with Didier Drogba returning to form and fitness, his place in the team is no longer guaranteed. (ANI)

Chelsea prepare for summer clear-out

London – Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck indicated on Monday that the club is preparing to off-load several players over the summer. Speaking at a fans’ forum, he also insisted that temporary manager Guus Hiddink will leave in the summer, and said that there would be no return for former manager Jose Mourinho.

“We are expecting some players to leave this summer,” Buck said. “I don’t know whether it is three, four or five, and several players to come in.

“In the large part we would like to fund acquisitions with sales, that just makes good business, but I think that if the player came along at the right price, and it was a hefty price, and it worked for Chelsea, then (club owner Roman) Abramovich would be willing to invest more money in the club for that transfer – but by and large we’d like to purchase players with funds that have been received by selling players.”

First, though, they will have to appoint a permanent manager.

Hiddink has been in charge since the departure of Luiz Felipe Scolari in February, while remaining as manager of Russia.

“Guus came here on a temporary basis two months ago and it is thanks to the Russian FA that he was able to come here; it is purely a temporary role,” Buck said.

“There has been a lot of speculation about him staying, particularly as he has been doing a great job. That will not be the case.

“It is now up to the board to find a new manager for the long term and that is a process that we have started and is ongoing.”

There had been speculation last week that Jose Mourinho, who left the club last season, could return in the summer, but Buck was dismissive of that suggestion.

“Jose was a great coach, he is a great guy but I think his time at Chelsea Football Club has passed,” he said.

“We didn’t fire him; it was mutual that he left the club. The board and Jose were not seeing eye-to-eye on a number of things and it was time we parted company.

“We have great respect, obviously, for what he did for Chelsea, we are on great terms with him.” (dpa)

Ancelotti to get a million pounds for every trophy he wins for Chelsea

London, Apr 11 (ANI): Carlo Ancelotti has been promised a million pounds for every trophy that he wins as Chelsea boss apart from his contract worth five million pounds a year tax free.

Details of the amazing offer emerged as Guus Hiddink spelt out why it is impossible for him to stay on at Stamford Bridge beyond the end of the season.

Sources in Italy claimed that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich put the proposal to AC Milan boss Ancelotti last month.

The extraordinary deal means it is now almost certain he will become Chelsea’s next boss after eight years at San Siro, The Sun reported.

Ancelotti, who twice led Milan to Champions League glory, has been promised a three-year deal, which will pay 100K pounds-a-week after tax.

But it is the bonus payments for success, which will most appeal to the highly motivated Ancelotti, 49.

He has always been Abramovich’s first choice to succeed Phil Scolari, who was ruthlessly axed as Chelsea boss in February after just seven months in charge.

Russian national boss Hiddink has been filling in ever since but last night made it clear he will not continue his job share scheme beyond this season. iddink said: “I have a formal contract with Russia and it is very important for me to stick by my word. The moral standards in our business sometimes go up and down but I want to see my commitments wholeheartedly through to the end.

“I owe something to the Russia players. If I were to end a contract which had not yet expired, they could blame me for not standing by my own values,” he added

Hiddink also ruled out the possibility of staying on at Chelsea while continuing to orchestrate Russia’s 2010 World Cup campaign. (ANI)
