Kylie Minogue can’t believe sister Dannii is pregnant

London, May 20 (ANI): Kylie Minogue says she still can”t believe her little sister Dannii is pregnant – and admits that she keeps thinking the X Factor judge just has ‘a balloon up her jumper’.

“I said to Dannii, ”I think I”m a rational person and I”ve just felt the baby kick, I know that”s all reality,” The Sun quoted the pop star saying.

“But at the same time, as your sister, it”s just so surreal.

“”It”s like someone”s just put a balloon up your jumper,’” she added.

The Australian star is already an aunt as her brother has two children, but said it is “different” this time because Dannii, 38, is her sister.

The pop princess reckons even feeling her tiny niece or nephew-to-be kicking does not make it seem any more realistic.

Minogue is trying to work her dates out so that she can be around for her sister’s delivery, and is very excited by how well her sister has looked while expecting her first child.

“We all want to be like that!”

She added, “She”s just absolutely shining and I couldn”t be any more proud of her than I am.

“I saw her just before she left and she”s glowing. It”s very exciting for the whole family.”

Minogue, who will be busy touring and working for her next album, has denied that she would want to replace Danii as the next X-factor judge.

She said, “It”s a little impractical and I think that it”s really Dannii”s gig and she excels in that.

“I”ve never done it, maybe I”d be OK but I just think she does it so well.” (ANI)

Indian eves lose to Australia in World Twenty20 semi-final

St. Lucia (West Indies), May 14 (ANI): The Indian women’s cricket team has also ended its WorldTwenty20 campaign in the Caribbean, losing to Australia in the semi-finals by seven wickets on Thursday.

Australian captain Alex Blackwell led from the front in ensuring that her side advanced to the women”s World Twenty20 final.

Blackwell”s 61, her maiden fifty at this level, was the centerpiece of Australia”s successful pursuit of the Indian target of 120.

Her innings was all the more impressive as Blackwell, only leading the side because wicketkeeper/batsman Jodie Fields withdrew before the tournament with a hamstring injury, came in with the score at one for one.

But together with left-handed opener Shelley Nitschke (22), she shared a second-wicket stand of 74 that ended Indian hopes.

By the time Blackwell was stumped by Sulakshana Naik off leg-spinner Priyanka Roy, Australia were 101 for three and in sight of victory.

Blackwell faced 49 balls for her 61, which included eight boundaries.

Leah Poulton, unbeaten on 30, ended the match with seven balls to spare with a boundary.

Earlier, Australia restricted India to five 119.

Opener Poonam Raut made 44 off 51 balls, with three boundaries, before she became one of three wickets that fell in the 17th over.

Raut put on 57 with Harmanpreet Kaur, the best stand of the innings, before bowler Ellyse Perry’s ran her out.

India”s star batsman Mithali Raj was drawn out of her crease by experienced Australia spinner Lisa Sthalekar and stumped by Alyssa Healy, the niece of former Australia wicketkeeper Ian. (ANI)

Kiwi-Indian liquor store owner’s murderer had a sex violence plagued upbringing

Auckland, Mar. 6 (ANI): The murderer of Indian-origin south Auckland liquor store owner Navtej Singh was raised in a horrific home environment, as his parents were jailed for the sexual and physical abuse of their 13-year-old niece.

After the couple were jailed, Anitelea Chan Kee and his brothers went to live with their biological father.

Chan Kee, 22, was found guilty this week of murdering Singh, 30, during an aggravated robbery of his liquor store on June 7, 2008.

Chan Kee shot him in the abdomen and he died in hospital the following day.

He unsuccessfully argued that the shooting was accidental and he pulled the trigger under extreme stress.

He has been remanded in custody for sentencing on April 23.

According to the New Zealand Herald, Chan Kee’s adoptive father – Iosua Chankee – admitted to 10 sex-related charges, two of assault with a weapon and one of injuring with intent.

And his adoptive mother, Avemaoe Chankee, was found guilty at a High Court trial of four rape charges, injuring with intent, procuring an abortion and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

“During those years that this was all taking place, I never told anyone about it. I had no one to tell. I was ashamed about what was taking place and was terribly afraid of what would happen if I told anyone about it,” the victim told court during the 1998 trial.

When she was 15, she got pregnant to Iosua. His wife then assaulted her, causing an abortion. A week after she miscarried, the girl was raped again, and this time she was held down by Avemaoe, the report says.

The niece finally escaped as a 22- year-old only after the couple beat her with a table leg. That beating left her barely recognisable, the report adds. (ANI)

Missing Hindu nurse’s parents’ pleas in Pak falling on deaf ears

Karachi, Sep.18 (ANI): Family members of the Hindu nurse, Bano, who disappeared from Karachi last month under mysterious circumstances, have urged the government to step into the issue and direct the concerned authorities to pursue the matter seriously to find out her whereabouts.

Bano’s uncle and the head of the Hindu Maheshwari community, Narain Das feared that her niece could have been killed or forced to convert her religion.

“The incidents of kidnapping our community girls’ have recently increased alarmingly and despite our repeated protests and approaches to the higher authorities, nothing has so far been done to protect the community members. Kidnappers have recently kidnapped several girls as young as thirteen and fourteen years old,” Das said.

The police has arrested Gulzar, who worked with Bano in the hospital, but failed to gather any substantial report regarding her whereabouts.

Gulzar has told officials that Bano has accepted Islam and married her boyfriend Jaffer, but Bano’s parents fear she has been murdered.

When enquired about the issue, Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs Dr Mohan Lal said he would look into matter and issue guidelines to concerned authorities.

“I would personally talk to the police authorities and will ensure her release as soon as possible,” The Daily Times quoted Lal, as saying. (ANI)

MJ’s secret sister JohVonnie reveals her ‘snub’ pain

London, September 14 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s half-sister has revealed that the pop legend wasn’t warm to her when she met him during a family get together.

JohVonnie Jackson, whose mum was a lover of MJ’s dad Joe, is close to her father.

She claims that the Jacksons have shunned her for 35 years but was once invited to the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker’s Neverland ranch in 2003 when the clan got together.

Also, JohVonnie alleges that she wasn’t allowed to talk to either the late singer or her half-sister Janet when she attended their concerts.

“I feel rejected by some of my family. It’s upsetting and hurtful,” the Mirror quoted her as saying.

Referring to her meeting with the late singer she said: “It was a big moment for me. But Michael was looking at me and seemed cold. He just said, ‘Hi’ and then he saw my daughter Yasmine and was fascinated with her.”

Jackson made a mistake pronouncing her niece’s name and called her ‘Jasmine,’ which JohVonnie corrected.

She recollected: “He said, ‘OK, Yasmine with a Y’, and that was it. He never acknowledged that I was his sister, there was no hug or kiss, not even a handshake. No physical contact at all.

“I wanted to embrace him. I thought he would want to go some place quiet and sit and talk with me and ask me about my life and get to know me a little better.

“It was very hurtful. He was not interested at all.

“With my daughter he was totally different. She got hugs and kisses, everything I didn’t get. I was a little jealous. But there was a bunch of people there and I never did get a chance to speak to Michael properly. Again, there was this theme that I felt shut out.”

Apparently, JohVonnie spent that night at a nearby hotel and returned to Neverland the next day but she didn’t get to see her iconic half-brother.

She said: “Michael was in the main house. Yasmine and Paris were off playing for hours. Paris is such a sweet girl.”

Though she said she talked to brother Jermaine and sister Rebbie but insists: “None of my other siblings acknowledged me much.” (ANI)

Renee Zellweger compares motherhood to “slavery”

London, Aug 22 (ANI): Actress Renee Zellweger is likely to have second thoughts on starting a family and having kids after a nightmarish babysitting session with her brother’s kids.

The 40-year-old single beauty said an evening with her nephew and niece drained her out completely.

The Daily Star quoted her as saying: “My brother has two children now, so I’ve been playing aunt Renee. They’re two and four. It’s chaos. Moms out there, kudos to you. The cool thing about being an aunt is like, I can leave. No offence to my big brother Drew, but that is slavery. I dare you to take a shower. You can’t do anything unless they let you. It’s a dictatorship. They’re little dictators in their crib.”

Now, Zellweger is unsure if she wants to be a full-time mum.

Honour killings remain unchecked in Lahore

Lahore, July 6 (ANI): Honour killing seems to go on unchecked in Lahore as it claimed three lives in two incidents last week. It seems that it has become part and parcel of lives of Pakistanis.

On July 2, a newly married couple was killed in the name of ‘honour’ in the Barki police precincts. Ramazan shot dead Khalid and his wife Shamim, who had eloped and married without the consent of their families.

Ramazan was Shamim’s cousin and both had been engaged. The other incident took place on July 5, when a boy, Irfan, killed his uncle Shahadat Ali for marrying his mother after the death of his father in Kahna police precincts. Reportedly, Irfan considered the marriage a matter of ‘honour’.

In 10 weeks, nine people were killed in the name of ‘honour’ in the city. Among these incidents, on June 18, in Sabzazar police precincts, Iqbal killed his sister Adeeba (22) for having an alleged affair with a boy, the Daily Times reported.

The accused tried to hide the incident by shifting the body to some other city, but the police recovered the body after chasing the accused. On June 2, Nawaz of Ferozewala killed his sister Shehnaz Bibi, who was a mother of two, for having an affair with a man.

On May 26, Ahsan Elahi gunned down his wife Shazia in Liaquatabad police precincts. On April 20, Zulfiqar Khokhar of Green Town killed his sister Shahnaz (35) and niece Farah (18) for honour.

Judge blasts council for wasting £5k of taxpayers’ cash over dropped wrapper case!

London, Jun 20 (ANI): A judge has blasted a council officer for wasting 5000 pounds of taxpayers’ money by dragging a teenager to crown court over a dropped mint wrapper.

The sweet wrapper had blown out of Larissa Wilkinson’s car window when her 18-month-old niece unwrapped it, and when the officer spotted it, the 19-year-old girl was charged with depositing controlled waste.

Judge Roger Scott was stunned when she appeared before him at crown court, where murderers and rapists face trial.

“Can you explain to me why this charge was ever brought? She has dropped a single sweet wrapper,” the Sun quoted the judge as asking the council’s barrister Austin Newman.

“Is it controlled waste? I’ve looked it up and I don’t see how you could possibly argue it is.

“It’s the most inappropriate set of proceedings I’ve personally ever, ever seen and it’s a fantastic waste of community charge payers’ money.

“This was a grotesque misuse of the powers of the authorities,” he stated.

The judge refused to let Wilkinson sit in the dock, and invited her into the witness stand instead.

The interior design student explained that she was driving her Fiat Punto with niece Lyla Henderson when the tot unwrapped a Bassett’s Murray Mint, and dropped the wrapper in the car but it blew away.

Wilkinson, who had passed her test a month earlier, only realised what had happened when a 75 pounds fixed penalty was sent to her home in Mirfield, West Yorks.

“I decided I wasn’t going to pay. As a student I only get 30 pounds a week to live on. But also it just wasn’t fair. It wasn’t my fault and if I’d tried to stop the wrapper then I might have crashed,” she said.

She appeared before magistrates three times, but chose to be tried by jury at Bradford Crown Court.

“The judge was great. I am so pleased he was on my side. It was quite scary,” she added.

The cost of the case, estimated at 5,000 pounds, would have spiralled to 10,000 pounds if it had been heard before a jury.

“Rubbish thrown from vehicles contributes greatly to the defacement of our streets,” a Kirklees Council spokesman said.

“The person in control of a vehicle is liable for waste thrown from that vehicle whether they threw the waste out or not,” he added.

Wilkinson accepted a caution, but did not have to pay the 75 pounds.

“I hope you enjoyed your day in court,” the judge told her. (ANI)

Pakistan leadership responsible for country’s current chaotic situation: Fatima Bhutto

London, May 28 (ANI): Assassinated Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto’s niece Fatima Bhutto has criticized Pakistan’s leadership for creating all problems that the country is facing at present.

Bhutto charged the state, especially its civil and military machinery, for creating the Taliban menace, whose expanding writ is threatening the existence of the country.

Worried over the lack of will shown by the government in tackling issues like extremism, poverty and corruption, Fatima Bhutto raised questions about the efficiency of the Pakistan leadership.

She said it was too corrupt to be trusted with all the billions that the US and the West was providing to it as aid to counter the Taliban.

Bhutto was particularly furious over the government’s decision to implement the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), which according to her, had let the most corrupt in the country go scot-free.

“Its authors claim that it was conceived on the lines of South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, but ironically they forgot to put the truth part of the TRC in their NRO,” The Dawn quoted Bhutto, as saying.

She, however, did not support the Swat military offensive against the Taliban and other extremists, as it has rendered thousands of people homeless.

She believed that the exodus pose a new socio-economic and political threat to the very existence of Pakistan no matter how much aid is spent in the relief and rehabilitation efforts. (ANI)
