White supremacist who planned to bomb Asians and blacks in Britain jailed indefinitely

London, Sep. 9 (ANI): A white supremacist was given an indefinite jail term by a British court after being found guilty of planning a bomb attack on Asians and blacks.

Pro-Nazi Neil Lewington, 43, was branded as “a dangerous man who exhibits emotional coldness and detachment”, The Sun reports.

Racist fanatic Lewington will have to serve a minimum of six years before even being considered for release.

Judge Peter Thornton said: “I accept that in ordinary language, you are an oddball – eccentric, dysfunctional and sometimes immature. But I do not accept you are no more than a pest. My assessment is that you are a dangerous man.”

Lewington was on the verge of launching a bomb blitz on those he considered “non-Britons” when he was arrested by chance for being drunk on a railway station.

Cops found two homemade firebombs in the jobless electrician’s bag.

And when they searched the home he shared with his parents in Reading, Berks, they discovered a bomb factory in his bedroom and plans to make shrapnel grenades from tennis balls and nuts.

They also found a notebook entitled “Waffen SS UK members’ handbook”.

Lewington wrote a chapter in it headed “Targeting or attacking Pakis.”

Lewington’s bedroom contained fascist propaganda including videos of Right-wing terrorists such as London nail bomber David Copeland and Oklahoma fiend Timothy McVeigh.

He was found guilty of five terrorism and two explosives charges at an earlier Old Bailey trial.

His parents, who were present in court, revealed that he had not spoken to his father for a decade. (ANI)

Axing 50-over cricket to affect England’s World Cup campaigns: Strauss

Melbourne, Sep 5 (ANI): England skipper Andrew Strauss has warned that banishing 50-over cricket from the country’s domestic schedule could have dire consequences for the team’s World Cup campaigns.

The England and Wales cricket board decided to axe 50-over cricket for a shortened 40-over format from next season.

Strauss said domestic cricket should mirror internationals, and believes one-dayers will survive in the face of mounting pressure from Twenty20s.

“Forty-over cricket is not radically different from 50-over cricket, but it just seems sensible to me that if you’re playing 50-over cricket internationally and your domestic scene is a way of preparing people for international cricket, you should be playing the same game,” The Age quoted Strauss, as saying.

“At the moment, there is a future to 50-over cricket. There are no plans that I’ve heard of to get rid of it. My personal view is that domestic cricket should mirror international cricket, so in that respect, playing 40-over cricket is not ideal,” he added.

South Africa had already reduced its domestic competition to 45 overs, and when the England and Wales Cricket Board voted last week to eradicate the 50-over game it was received as a further nail in the coffin for one-day internationals, which have struggled for identity and prominence in an increasingly crowded schedule. Jackson was murdered for his £1 billion fortune, says sister La Toya

London, July 12 (ANI): Michael Jackson was murdered for his 1-billion-pound fortune, according to his heartbroken sister La Toya.

In an exclusive interview, the former Playboy model, 53, said that she and the family are convinced her brother’s apparent drugs overdose was “foul play” by a shadowy group out to get their hands on his 1-billion-pound fortune.

“We don’t think just one person was involved in the murder. It was a conspiracy to get Michael’s money,” News of the World quoted her as saying.

La Toya, the closest person to Michael from the whole tight-knit Jackson clan, said that she has vowed revenge on the people she claims murdered her brother Michael.

“I know who did it and I won’t rest until I nail them,” she added.

La Toya added: “Michael was murdered. And we don’t think just one person was involved. Rather, it was a conspiracy of people.

Feel it was all about money. Michael was worth well over a billion in music publishing assets and somebody killed him for that. He was worth more dead than alive.”

La Toya’s revelations come just two days after the chief of Los Angeles police admitted they were investigating the singer’s death as possible homicide. (ANI)

Shoaib’s anti-PCB rant may be final nail in his coffin

Lahore, July 11 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may take disciplinary action against controversial fast Shoaib Akhtar for his remarks on the board’s decision to axe him from the World Twenty20 Championship team.

The final decision in this regard would be taken by the PCB chairman Ijaz Butt, The Daily Times reports.

When enquired about the issue, Butt said he is not fully aware about what Akhtar had actually said during the television interview.

Butt said he would be going through the whole statement of Akhtar, and would then decide whether the statements tantamount to violation of the player’s central contract.

According to sources, Butt would seek views of other senior board officials before penalizing Akhtar.

Akhtar, during the television chat show, had described the former PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf, as a ‘second grade person’, and said that all the previous administrators had done nothing but ruined the game in the country.

Akhtar said he still has many years of cricket left in him and claimed that there has been a conspiracy to malign his image.

He said that he thought of suing the board for denying him a place in the World T20 Championship squad, but decided against it on Butt’s advice.

The 34 year old speedster was axed from the World T20 Championship squad after a PCB medical panel declared him unfit due to a skin infection.

Following Akhtar’s ouster from the team, chief selector Abdul Qadir also resigned from the post alleging that coach Intikhab Alam and team manager Yawar Saeed were behind the move to drop Akhtar. (ANI)

Taliban attack makes Attock’s carpet industry bleed

Attock, July 7 (ANI): Apart from being responsible for the current dismal security situation of Pakistan, the Taliban has also forced Attock’s famous handmade carpet industry to the brink of collapse.

The carpet industry is suffering from lack of foreign buyers and tourists, leading to a 50 per cent decline in the sales.

The Attock carpets which once sold for around 120 to 150 dollars per square meter, are now unlikely to fetch half that amount.

“At the current price I cannot meet my labour and raw material (wool thread) expenses besides charges for dying and washing the carpets,” said Akhtar Afghani, a carpet trader.

“Over 10000 square meter carpet had been lying in store due to non-availability of buyer, where as middle men not offered actual price of it and want to purchase it less the manufacturing cost,” he added.

Afghani said many of his fellow manufactures have left their inherited carpet manufacturing businesses and moved to other sectors, such as selling dry fruit, shoes, clothes and Chinese made toys and electronic items.

Attock became a hub of carpets industry after thousands of Afghan refugees fled the Russian occupation of Afghanistan to settle there during 1980s.

Earlier, only Afghans living in Attock used to make carpets, but eventually the native locals also entered the business.

Thereafter, big manufacturers based in Lahore and Karachi set up large-scale plants in the region in hope of cashing-in on the skilled labour force here.

The exponential boom of the industry, however, has been hit by the recent security problems.

When Taliban militants started targeting carpet manufacturers, the visitors stopped coming here. Various plants had to be shut down.

The final nail in the coffin came when Taliban started expressly targeting foreigners, and claimed Malakand division. (ANI)

Jacko’s mother to look after his children

London, June 29 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s children are going to stay with their grandmother Katherine Jackson as reports have come that the legend’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe will not fight for their custody if she is allowed more access to them.

The Jackson family who was ready to fight “tooth and nail” with the horse breeder has also softened its stance and agreed to her desire of being allowed to visit the kids more often.

A friend of Rowe has said that she is keen to avoid any situation that will further sadden the children after the loss of their father, by trying not to exercise her legal right against the Jacksons in order to settle them at her horse ranch in Palmdale, 65 miles from Los Angeles, the Daily Express reports.

Rowe’s lawyer asked over the weekend that the Jackson family “be able to say goodbye to their loved one in peace”.

Presently, the three youngsters stay at the Jackson family’s compound in Encino, north-west of Los Angeles with their 79-year-old grand-mother Katherine.

Rowe, a former nurse, got married to the icon in 1996 and parted ways three years later with a huge financial settlement.

She gave birth to Prince Michael, 12 and Paris Katherine, 11, while a surrogate mother conceived Prince Michael II, 7, also known as “Blanket”. (ANI)

Jacko’s ex-wife wants full custody of kids

London, June 27 (ANI): Late Michael Jackson’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe is seeking full custody of the couple’s children.

The King of Pop passed away at the age of 50 on Thursday (June 25) after a cardiac arrest apparently caused by an overdose of painkillers.

Soon after his death Jackson’s elderly mum Katherine and Debbie were set to launch into a bitter fight for custody of his children.

While Katherine was looking after Prince Michael Jnr, 12, Paris, 11, and seven-year-old Prince Michael II in Los Angeles, Debbie had apparently signed away her parental rights in return for a house and a multi-million dollar lump sum.

Jackson family lawyer Brian Oxman said Katherine would probably care for them long-term.

“She loves them dearly,” British tabloid the Sun quoted him as saying.

However, Debbie-who is the mother of Prince Jnr and Paris-had told a friend that she wanted full custody of the youngsters, just two days before Jacko’s death.

The friend revealed: “Debbie threw a fit, saying she was sick of the way Michael was bringing the children up. She said she was going to go for full custody of them. She said she was quite prepared to go all the way and fight him in court for it.”

In fact, the kids’ nanny Grace Rwaramba could also end up caring for them.

Sources close to the Jackson family said Katherine will “fight tooth and nail” to stop Debbie getting the youngsters.

Debbie’s friend said: “She understands there will be a vicious legal battle and she knows Michael’s mother will not readily hand the kids over to her. But she is their natural mother and will do whatever it takes to get them back.”

Last December, Debbie, 50, went to lawyers after Jacko’s biographer claimed that the star was suffering from a chronic lung condition and had just months to live.

She asked for more access to her children, saying: “I’m their mother and they need me.”

And now that the ‘Thriller’ hit-maker is dead, the friend said that Debbie wants her kids back for good.

The pal added: “At Christmas she just wanted to re-establish contact with them. But now she wants full custody. Michael’s mother is almost 80, Debbie doesn’t want them to lose their father and then their grandmother.”

Prince Michael Jnr and Paris were born during Debbie’s three-year marriage to Jacko in the 1990s.

Prince Michael II – nicknamed “Blanket” – was born later to a surrogate mother. (ANI)

Peter Andre wants joint custody of kids

London, May 22 (ANI): Peter Andre wants a joint custody of his kids and all his stuff back from his estranged wife Jordan after their divorce.

Peter has been in talks with the lawyers about attaining a joint custody of his kids Junior, 3, and Tiaamii, 21 months, and also the return of all his important belongings.

He is annoyed that all his stuff has been removed from his home, as Jordan had instructed the housekeepers to get rid of all his stuff, and he currently has no access to his music studio and valuable equipment.

Peter is currently staying with Jordan’s former manager Claire Powell.

“He is devastated at what is happening but he knows if a divorce goes ahead Katie will fight tooth and nail for everything,” the Sun quoted one of his friends as saying.

“He loves his kids and the idea he might have limited access is breaking his heart. There is a very large financial aspect for him to consider, but all he really cares about is the children,” the pal added.

Meanwhile, Peter, who is consulting lawyers over his rights to Jordan’s estimated 40 million pounds fortune, has been advised to claim full custody of his kids so that at least he lands up getting a joint custody. (ANI)

Semen stains nail Malay dad raping daughter for 4 years since age 12

Kuala Lumpur, May 8 (ANI): Ordeal of a 16-year-old Malay girl at the hands of her father emerged when her mother spotted stains of semen on her daughter’s bed and tracksuit.

The chef mum, 49, then inspected her husband’s pants in their bedroom at their flat in Paroi and found similar stains.

After the horrifying finding, on March 8, the mum confronted her daughter who confessed that her 52-year-old father had repeatedly raped her since she was 12 years old.

According to the victim, her father had been raping her even when they were staying in Kuala Pilah before they moved to the flat in Paroi.

Later a report was lodged at the Seremban 2 police station on April 8, and the girl, accompanied by her mother, was sent to the Seremban Hospital for medical examination.

The suspect was detained for questioning on Monday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said if not for the mother, the victim would have continued to suffer in silence.

“The mother’s actions led police to detain the suspect, a lorry driver, who is being held for questioning till May 10. All this while, the child told us that she was forced to keep the secret after being threatened by the suspect,” the New Straits Times Online quoted him, as saying. (ANI)

Bone find in Britain shows evidence of early amputations in 19th century

London, May 2 (ANI): A team of archaeologists has determined that bones found at a former hospital in Worcestershire, UK, show evidence of early amputations and other medical research in the 19th century.

According to a report by BBC News, county council archaeologists were called in after workers building the new city university campus found about 200 bone pieces in a pit at the former Worcester Royal Infirmary site.
The old hospital is being demolished to make way for a new campus.

Many of the 19th Century bones had been deliberately cut and were “evidence of amputations in their infancy”, according to Simon Sworn, archaeologist and project officer.

The British Medical Research Association (BMA) was founded in the hospital in 1832 and Sworn said that the bones from dead prisoners were among those used for research after this became legal practice.

Sworn said the bones were a rare find.

“It’s a very fascinating and important find and appears to show a great deal about early medical practice,” he said.

Sworn said an Act of Parliament in the mid-19th Century permitted research on dead prisoners, so bones of former inmates could be among those found.

“It could be criminals or it could be poor people who could not be identified and had no family,” he said.

According to Sworn, the bones were from many individuals and included arm and leg bones and fragments of skull and vertebrae.

“They do indicate early anatomical investigations, when people were first dissecting human remains,” he said.

“There’s evidence of research into varying diseases, such as syphilis, which was widespread at the time. There are bones that have been cut into where the disease had taken hold,” he added.

Sworn added there were also animal bones, including those of pigs, found in the pit.

“Some have several saw marks, as if the students had practiced amputations on the animals’ bones first,” he said.

The bones include a hip joint punctured by a nail which Sworn said could be evidence of an early hip replacement operation.

Worcestershire County Council said its archaeologists were immediately called in after the discovery to “make sure the remains were treated appropriately”.

The bones, which were removed under a Home Office licence, are being stored and preserved at the council offices and will be sent to a specialist who is expected to report on their significance.

“The remains are likely to be studied by experts in the history of surgery before reburial,” a county council spokeswoman said. (ANI)

Struggling Getafe sack coach Victor

Madrid – Struggling Spanish Liga club Getafe said Monday it had dismissed coach Victor Munoz.

The final nail in Victor’s coffin was Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Villarreal, a result which leaves Getafe fourth from bottom and in big trouble.

Victor, a Spanish international midfielder in the 1980s, is the 10th Liga coach to be sacked this season.

According to the digital version of AS, the favourites to succeed him are Miguel Angel Portugal – currently technical secretary at Real Madrid – and former Real and Spain star Michel, out of work since resigning as head of Real’s junior sections in December. (dpa)

‘Fungal infection makes Kate Moss stay away from booze’

London, April 17 (ANI): Kate Moss has been reportedly ordered to abstain from drinking due to her medication for a fungal infection on a foot.

The supermodel was said to have landed with the painful condition after getting a pedicure at a “cheap salon” in New York.

“Kate fancied a little pampering when she went to New York for the launch of her clothing range in Topshop,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

“She normally uses beauty salons in the five-star hotels she stays in but she decided to pop into a parlour in New York.

“She regrets the decision now as the nail on her big toe on her right foot has turned yellow and has become really thick and ugly. She is certain she caught a fungal infection from the cheap salon,” the source added.

The 35-year-old had been allegedly looking forward to spending the weekend with beau Jamie Hince at the Coachella Festival in California.

The source added: “Kate was looking forward to letting her hair down with Jamie at the festival. But she knows she’s going to have to lay off the booze for the duration due to her medication.” (ANI)

Madonna’s former cook blasts her Malawian adoption bid

Washington, Apr 16 (ANI): Madonna’s former cook has blasted her Malawian adoption bid, claiming that the superstar ignores the children she already has.

Currently, the Material Girl is mounting an appeal after a judge turned down her attempt to adopt 4-year-old Mercy James from the African nation earlier this month, reports Contactmusic.

However, Eric Ienco, who once worked for Madonna as her cook and house manager, claims the 50-year-old star should spend more time with her three kids Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight and adopted three-year-old David, instead of dedicating all her spare time to keeping fit.

Ienco tells the National Enquirer, “When she’s with the children, she is a devoted mum. She just doesn’t spend much time with them.

“It’s a puzzle why she wants to adopt again. She’s hardly ever with her children. She’s got two full-time nannies and one part-time nanny. So why adopt a kid when somebody else is raising them?

“She gets up and has a coffee, then she does two hours of yoga. Then there’s two hours of pilates and exercise. That’s six days a week. After that she deals with her email, her calls and the rest of her business. And after that, she spends maybe half an hour with the kids.

“Madonna puts herself before the kids. When she adopted little David, he arrived at her home from Africa, and three hours later, she left to do pilates. Wouldn’t you think she’d want to spend the entire day with her new son?”

He also blames David’s adoption in 2006 for wrecking Madonna’s marriage to director Guy Ritchie.

Ienco adds, “Madonna thought (David) would bring them together, but Guy was dead against adopting, so, for the marriage, it was the final nail in the coffin.” (ANI)

Meet the ‘Queen of Clean’ who can banish any grime

Melbourne, Apr 5 (ANI): By using age-old household remedies for stubborn stains, Australia’s Shannon Lush has become the best-selling author with her book ‘Spotless’ and is being referred to as the ‘Queen of Clean’.

Lush can remove any stain, be it a dark carpet of bleach marks, a benchtop of ink, a wooden floor of nail polish or clothing of red wine.

Her book with journalist Jennifer Fleming, ‘Spotless’-the guide to fighting household grime-turned out to be so successful that it has sold more than 500,000 copies.

“It was just astonishing, it’s just a little book about dirt,” The Courier Mail quoted her as saying.

And now, the duo has even produced a follow-up, called ‘Spotless 2′, which provides solutions to common domestic disasters room by room.

‘Spotless 2′ has updated remedies, as well as many new ones, including a chapter devoted to clothing and shoes.

Lush, 52, swears by the old-fashioned approach of using the same products like our grandmothers.

And she is completely against the use of pre-mixed supermarket chemical cleaners.

In her opinion, the cleaning essentials every household should have are bicarb soda, vinegar, methylated spirits, oil of cloves, lavender oil, lemon oil, teatree oil and pantyhose.

They are all used in day-to-day cleaning, and there’s no need to go with “those nasty chemical mixes that tell you big lies,” she said.

The Sydney mother-of-two and grandmother revealed that her interest in stain removal is because of a background in chemistry, as well as a methodical approach. (ANI)

“I suddenly thought one day that the time when you’re finally retired is when they nail the f**king lid over your bones in the ground. That’s retirement!” Ozzy added. (ANI)

Soldier Prince Harry turns town ‘pink’ with his nail paint!

London, March 15 (ANI): Prince Harry has left many baffled after being spotted with pink nails as he stepped out of a nightclub.

The 24-year-old, who is training to pilot the meanest attack machine in the British Army, seemed to depict a stark contrast to his tough soldier image after sporting the girly artwork on his left hand.

“To see Harry with his nails painted was a bit bizarre to say the least. We all know he likes the ladies and has served in Afghanistan, so it was a bit of a shock,” News of the World quoted an onlooker as saying.

“I can’t imagine it going down to well with his military mates. He’s supposed to be hard as nails – not painting them,” the onlooker added.

The party-loving royal had been seen with the coloured nails at Raffles, in Chelsea, south-west London.

A source added: “I wouldn’t be surprised if Harry did it for a bet – or to raise cash for Comic Relief.

“He can be quite a prankster”. (ANI)

The list of bizarre requests made by Jacko for comeback tour

London, Mar 8 (ANI): King of Pop Michael Jackson has made a list of bizarre requests for his comeback gigs at the O2 Arena in July.

The ‘Thriller’ hitmaker has asked that his dressing room be equipped with no fewer than four hair driers.

His requests also include 24 hand towels, ten clothing rails, a nailbrush, odourless air freshener and even raspberry-scented candles.

“This just doesn’t sound like your regular rock gig at all,” the Daily Star quoted American rock event planner Katie McCubbin, who has helped stage concerts at huge venues for megabands including the Rolling Stones and U2, as saying.

“Some bands demand never-ending supplies of exotic foods, designer booze and the most expensive luxuries that money can buy.

“Michael’s rider isn’t just modest by industry standards – it’s downright weird.

McCubbin added: “Who needs four hair driers? Who needs 24 hand towels? And who’d bother to add a fifty-cent nail brush to the list?”

Jackson made a demand of 11 dressing rooms, eight of which will be for his band, backing singers and dancers. Three will be for the singer himself and members of his inner circle.

The 50-year-old will have a direct dial international phone line with internet access as well as an entertainment system and a 42-inch flat screen TV.

And the singer is insisting on honey and fresh lemons and limes to soothe his throat.

His master dressing room must also have a dimmer switch, a trouser press and three ‘over-sized’ leather chairs.

There will also be two “holding areas” for family and friends with sushi and dim sum platters plus wines and beers. (ANI)

Struggling Espanyol sack short-lived coach Mane

Madrid – Struggling Spanish Liga side announced early on Tuesday the sacking of coach Mane.

Mane, whose full name is Jose Manuel Esnal, had only been in the job for six weeks, since taking over from Bartolome Marquez in November.

The final nail in Mane’s coffin was Sunday’s 4-0 thrashing away to Malaga, a result which leaves the Catalan club third from bottom in La Liga.

Mane is likely to be replaced by Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, popular at the club after his many years there as central defender. (dpa)
