London, June 11 (ANI): Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page was inducted into the Mojo Hall Of Fame during the music magazine’s annual prize giving ceremony.

At the event on June 10, Page, 66, was hailed for his groundbreaking contributions to modern music at the 2010 Mojo Honours List Awards, which are voted for by readers of the publication.

“Somehow, there is a freedom in parts of ‘80s music that resonates among a new generation of musicians and fans, and it underlines the age old Mojo belief that music is a continuum and never stops evolving,” he added.

Other prize winners included Kasabian, whose hit Fire was named Song Of The Year, and Richard Hawley, who took home the Best Album prize for Truelove’s Gutter.

Legendary guitarist Duane Eddy was presented with the Icon award.

Macca says The Beatles became victims of success

Washington, Sep 2 (ANI): Brit singer Sir Paul McCartney has in an exclusive interview spoken out about the final days of ‘The Beatles’, and insisted that the group became victims of their own success when businessman Allen Klein took over their financial affairs.

According to music magazine Mojo, McCartney said that he and his bandmates struggled to come to terms with all the business decisions they were suddenly forced to make as they were recording their final album ‘Abbey Road’.

The fight between them over cash and contracts really became a huge burden.

“We were musicians, we were kids from Liverpool, we’d gone to grammar schools, we’d done Hamburg – we kind of knew all that,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.

“But the idea that you were going to get this money and someone was going to take it off you…

“I think we all just thought, ‘You get the money, you put it in a bank, and it gradually gets bigger,’ and you say, ‘Thank you very much, and you live happily ever after.’ Then you suddenly get with accountants and they say, ‘No, you can’t just sit there’.

“Then there’s tax, and some business person is on a raid – it was a huge upheaval,” he said.

McCartney also admitted that the group’s business woes were poured into their new songs.

“George (Harrison) would write Piggies, and I knew exactly what he was talking about, and he wrote Taxman when we first found out about the tax system,” he said.

The rift between the group eventually led to a court battle before the band broke up, with many fans blaming Klein for contributing to the group’s split.

McCartney refused to be drawn into talking about Klein, but hinted that he still had not forgiven the businessman for things that would remain unspoken.

“I don’t want to speak ill of the dead,” he added.

Klein passed away in New York earlier this summer, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. (ANI)

Noel Gallagher quits Oasis

London, Aug 29 (ANI): Noel Gallagher has quit rock band Oasis following differences with frontman and brother Liam.

“It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight,” the BBC News quoted him as stating on the band’s website.

He said: “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

The guitarist apologized to fans waiting for the band to perform in near future.

He added: “Apologies to all the people who bought tickets for the shows in Paris, Konstanz and Milan.”

Before the announcement came, the band had pulled out of second concert in the space of a week.

They were scheduled to play at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, but to the shock of their fans, screens at either side of the stage showed the message “as a result of an altercation within the band, the Oasis gig has been cancelled”.

Hamish McBain, from music magazine New Musical Express, believes that it really must be the end of Oasis.

He said: “The relationship between Noel and Liam has been frosty over the last tour, to say the least, but it’s been frosty before.

“Noel has left tours before, Liam’s not showed up for gigs before, and they’ve carried on. But this, certainly the way Noel’s presented it on the Oasis website, it does feel like it has a degree of finality to it.”

Meanwhile, Oasis diehards are finding it difficult to come to terms with it.

A band follower named Wolvolass said: “I feel sick, sooo many good memories and gigs seeing Oasis over the years.”

Another fan MattGriffin added: “This is the worst day ever.”

Oasis was formed in Manchester in 1991and were originally known as The Rain.

They have a great track record with eight UK number-one singles, 15 NME Awards, five BRIT Awards, nine Q Awards and four MTV Europe Music Awards. (ANI)

Liam Gallagher won’t model his clothes

Washington, Mar 27 (ANI): Putting all speculations to rest, ‘Oasis’ frontman Liam Gallagher has said that he’ll never walk the ramp to model his men’s clothing range.

Last week, the rocker announced that he was preparing to launch his own clothing line-dubbed Pretty Green-because he was sick of men’s shops stocking skinny jeans and pointy-toed shoes.

And although he agrees to have determined to solve his own clothing problems, Gallagher has denied that he will storm the catwalk to debut the line in June.

Writing on his page on social networking site Twitter.com, the musician said that all reports that claim he’ll model his clothes are false.

“Just been reading the (music magazine) NME about me doing a catwalk to premiere Pretty Green. No chance. LG,” Contactmusic quoted him as writing on his Twitter page. (ANI)

U2′s Edge is glad Bono ignored his advice not to discuss Africa’s poverty with Bush

London, February 20 (ANI): U2 member The Edge is glad that frontman Bono ignored his advice not to meet former U.S. President George W. Bush to discuss poverty in Africa.

The rocker, whose real name is David Evans, has revealed that he was of the opinion that Bono would have “custard pies” thrown at him for holding talks with the controversial Republican in a bid to ease the plight of less economically developed nations.

However, he says, he is happy that the Beautiful Day singer proved his critics wrong.

“Hanging out with George W. Bush – which he knew was uncool, deeply unpopular in certain quarters – he knew for his own reasons that it would get results. And he was right. The amount of extra American investment in African development that occurred during that administration, compared to even the Clinton administration, was huge,” the Daily Star quoted him as telling music magazine NME.

“A large part of why that happened was because Bono was willing to be in the photographs, take the meetings and make it a popular issue.

“I mean, I tried to talk him out of meeting George W. Bush when he told me he was going to do a photograph with him. And he said, ‘Well, I think it’s the right thing to do’. So, in the end, I kind of just said my piece and let him get on with it.

“You have to understand that the man actually wants to save people’s lives! But anyway, he was right. He proved me wrong… again!” he added. (ANI)
