This is the first time that 18-year-old Jamie Lynn, who welcomed daughter Maddie in June 2008, has shown off her post-baby body.

“She had on a white, spangly top. A very little bikini!” said the witness.

The family, including Sean Preston, 3, and Jayden James, 2, “sat around the pool for about 20 minutes. Then Britney worked on her tan while Jamie Lynn took her daughter and her mom to a cabana on the beach.”

“They seemed pretty relaxed. Everyone was smiling,” said the witness. (ANI)

Winehouse, Fielder-Civil ‘to be given quickie divorce today’

London, July 16(ANI): Amy Winehouse and husband Blake Fielder-Civil will be given a quickie divorce today after a two-yearlong tumultuous relationship.

The couple are to be granted Decree Nisi (non-absolute ruling) in the Family Division of the High Court.

However, they need to wait six weeks and one day before their divorce is officially finalised and a Decree Absolute is granted.

The development is expected to relieve the ‘Back to Black’ singer whose marriage was marked with violence.

In fact on one occasion Amy was spotted with her ballet slippers soaked in blood after a fight with Blake at the Sanderson hotel in August 2007.

“She is ready to move on following the end of the marriage. She has not had any contact with Blake for months and is focusing on the future. She’s finishing off her album and in good health,” the Mirror quoted her spokesman as saying.

Meanwhile, on being asked if she was happy to return to England after her long stay in St. Lucia, the Grammy Award winning singer replied “I don’t give a f***.”

The couple had first met in a pub in Camden, North London, in 2005 before they eloped to Miami to get married. (ANI)

‘Supercool’ Paris Hilton charms judge during 8M dlrs lawsuit

New York, July 11 (ANI): Paris Hilton appeared to have worked her charms on a judge while testifying in a 8.3 million dollar lawsuit filed against her by movie investors.

The hotel heiress has been accused her of turning her back on promotional duties for the 2006 comedy, “Pledge This!”, a box office bomb that made just 2.9 million dollars.

The lawsuit claims the socialite disliked the movie, and pulled out of talk shows and radio and magazine interviews for the film in violation of her contract with the investors, reports the New York Daily News.

The 28-year-old jetted in from Dubai to Miami, sporting six-inch stiletto heels and a black dress, to appear for the case.

Paris said that she met her contract’s requirements and promoted the movies extensively, adding that the producers made “unreasonable demands” on her when her schedule was already full.

The star surprised Chief U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno by giving him a little wave before taking the stand.

The judge cracked: “I’ve never had a witness wave at me before.”

At one point, Paris was testifying about how full her dates were during rehearsals for her next movie, The Hottie and The Nottie,” when Moreno interrupted: “Was it better than this one?”referring to “Pledge This!”

“It was really good,” Hilton replied with a giggle. (ANI)

Naga ancestral sites dated back to 7th century AD

Dimapur, July 2 (ANI): In a new research, scientists have chronologically dated five ancestral settlement sites within Nagaland as belonging to the 7th century AD.

According to a report in The Morung Express, based on the study of oral tradition and folklore of the tribes of Kohima, Phek, and Mokokchung Districts, five prominent ancient settlement sites considered as important centres of population dispersal were identified.

An archaeological investigation was also carried out at the ancestral site at Chungliyimti, it informed.

Archaeological excavations were conducted at four of the ancestral settlement sites in the second phase of the project.

The archaeological investigation has revealed the dates of the sites extending back to as early as 7th century AD.

The radiocarbon dates obtained from the Beta Analytic Inc., Miami, Florida and Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany, Lucknow from all the sites under excavation is being considered as a major breakthrough in the archaeology of Northeast India.

The Anthropological Society of Nagaland has also termed as significant the discovery of an early Neolithic cave site in the vicinity of Mimi village from the Naga Ophiolite Belt area in Kiphire District bordering Myanmar.

Few Neolithic tools, ash deposits, cord marked potteries, animal bones, and a human burial were also excavated from the limestone cave.

An AMS (Accelerator Mass Spectrometry) date on the ash deposit obtained from the Beta Analytic Inc., Miami, Florida place the site within Circa Cal. BC 4460 – 4340.

The team led by Dr. Tiatoshi Jamir and two other archaeologists Dr. David Tetso and Dr. Zokho Venuh who carried out the excavation has been conducting extensive exploration on the limestone caves since the early part of January this year.

According to the archaeologists, the date is significant as far as the Neolithic sites of Eastern and Northeastern region are concerned as it further pushes back the beginning of the Neolithic era in the region.

Thus far, no Neolithic site of this antiquity has been reported from the Eastern and Northeastern region of India.

Study on the ash deposits for identification of botanical remains, animal and human remains are currently underway and it is hoped that more scientific data on the cave evidence will come to light. (ANI)

Danielle Staub of ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ has real criminal past

New York, Jun 25 (ANI): Reality TV star Danielle Staub of ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey’ has been exposed to have a real criminal past.

The court documents posted on TheSmokingGun.com reveals that Staub was involved in a kidnapping and extortion case, which also involved drugs, reports the New York Daily News.

Staub, who had then gone by the name of Beverly Ann Merrill, had placed calls to a kidnapped victim’s father and threatened to cause bodily harm to the hostage unless he came up with some money.

The criminal complaint, dated June 24 1986 and filed in the U.S. District Court in Miami, also accused Staub of cocaine possession with intent to distribute.

As per the story revealed by the website, Merrill had been working with a distributor for a Colombian drug family named Daniel Aguilar.

The partners in crime were out about 24,000 dollars worth of cocaine after a deal went awry. Trying to recoup their loss, they kidnapped the man they blamed for the deal’s failure, named in the complaint as Carmen Centolella.

Then Merill placed calls to Centolella’s father demanding 25,000 dollars in ransom money – or else.

Feds traced the calls and then arrested the duo, who were caught red-handed in a Miami apartment with six kilos of coke and 16,000 dollars in cash.

She was indicted weeks later on eight felony counts, including extortion, cocaine possession, and narcotics conspiracy, and in order to receive a lenient sentence, she agreed to cooperate fully with prosecutors and the FBI.

In November 1986, she was sentenced to five years probation, with her co-conspirator Aguliar getting 15 years in prison.

Even though she has denied her drug use and past as a prostitute on the show, saying only that she was a former pothead, documents on TheSmokingGun.com would seem to contradict her.

Papers have Staub admitting to working for an escort service and being ordered to continue treatment for her severe “Drug history and drug lifestyle”. (ANI)

Murray’s defeat at the hands of Nadal in Wimbledon 2008 secret behind his fitness

London, June 22 (ANI): World No. 3 Andy Murray has revealed how his Wimbledon exit in 2008 at the hands of Rafael Nadal turned him into one of the fittest players in the world.

Murray said his loss to Nadal in last year’s Wimbledon quarterfinal was the moment he stepped up his fitness training.

The British ace had already made great strides with his fitness by the time he faced Nadal in the quarter-finals 12 months ago, but was left in no doubt there was still more hard work to be done.

Nadal powered his way to a 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Murray on Centre Court in 2008, The Telegraph reported.

That decision paid huge dividends, with Murray going on to win his first Masters series title in Cincinnati and reach his first grand slam final at the US Open.

“Beating Richard Gasquet in the fourth round last year was a great match to be involved in, but I lost to Nadal comfortably in the next round. I actually went away for three or four weeks after that and trained really, really hard over in the States, down in Miami in really warm conditions,” Murray said.

“I realised that I was in good shape then, but I lost to someone like Rafa, who’s probably one of the best athletes to ever play tennis (and) I needed to improve that side of my game.

“It was after Wimbledon I pushed on. I just learnt a lot from the loss to Rafa. I realised I needed to get fitter and stronger. I went away and worked on it,” he added.

Murray comes into Wimbledon as one of the favourites for the title, especially with Nadal out through injury and after winning his first tournament on grass at Queen’s Club earlier this month. ANI)

Paris Hilton’s plea to dismiss contract breach suit rejected

Washington, May 20 (ANI): A Miami Federal Court judge has refused to dismiss a breach of contract lawsuit against hotel heiress Paris Hilton, and directed her to stand trial.

Paris has been accused of neglecting to honour promotion and publicity agreements related to her 2006 film ‘Pledge This’.

Bosses at Worldwide Entertainment Group Inc. claim that she owes investors a whopping 8.3million dollars.

Paris was said to have been paid 1million dollars for her acting services and for “reasonable promotion and publicity” for the film, which featured her as the president of an exclusive sorority.

WEG spokesperson Michael Goldberg insists that investors have suffered a loss of more than 8.3million dollars due to Paris’ failure to promote the film’s DVD release.

The judge hearing the heiress’ legal team to dismiss the lawsuit agreed that the case should be heard, reports Contactmusic.

The trial is scheduled to begin on June 8. (ANI)

A-Rod, Kate Hudson’s ‘make out’ sessions

New York, May 20 (ANI): Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez was caught “making out” with actress Kate Hudson in a pub.

The ‘Almost Famous’ star has been spending quality time with the baseball star ever since she met him at the reopening of the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach last November.

Hudson was recently seen cheering for A-Rod at the new Yankee Stadium, which was followed by a cozy night at Mustang Grill.

According to a source, a bartender at the Southwestern joint at 85th Street “was asking patrons not to go in the back room around 1 a.m. because A-Rod and Kate Hudson were back there making out,” reports the New York Post.

A restaurant staffer said that the duo were there celebrating the Yankees’ win against the Minnesota Twins.

“Yes, they were here together although she did not witness any lip-lock herself,” said a staffer.

Another source said the two were spotted over the weekend outside an apartment that A-Rod rents.

However, a rep for Rodriguez refused to comment while Hudson’s publicist didn’t return calls. (ANI)

Pandemic warning system depends on ‘human factors’

Washington, May 13 (ANI): Scientists have proposed a new approach to warn of an impending pandemic by detecting subtle signals in human behaviour.

“The goal is a public information and awareness system for pandemic with the same level of credibility, timeliness and visibility as storm-warning icons presented on television screens,” said Barrett Caldwell, a Purdue University associate professor of industrial engineering.

The system works by monitoring ‘event phases’ of human behaviour leading up to a pandemic, such as an increase in people purchasing flu-related medications or “foraging” on the Internet for certain types of information related to the flu.

“If you can recognize the triggers, the signals suggesting an event is likely to occur, you can start responding to it, gathering resources, preparing and mobilizing people. Our basic research idea could be used for any pandemic, or even other types of disasters,” said Sandra K. Garrett, an assistant professor of industrial engineering at Clemson University.

The study shows how pre-pandemic events are separated into four categories of “human factors,” or social behaviour: a period during which it is first possible to detect signals of an emerging pandemic; a time when it is possible to begin early efforts to prevent or mitigate spread; a time when it is critical to implement such measures; and a period when it is time to complete mitigation steps.

The method is an elaboration of “signal-detection theory,” conceived decades ago.

“Normally, when psychologists study signal detection, they are looking at very rapid changes, like whether a tone changes, whether a light changes colour or turns on and off,” Caldwell said.

The new approach proposes to make signal detection sensitive to more gradual events that are slower to develop.

“This is important because a pandemic is not a single point in time but a scenario that may take place in several waves over a period of months,” he said.

“One of the challenges is that the way influenza spreads, you don’t know that someone’s sick until several days later, and by then they have had the opportunity to infect other people. At that point you have to project backward to see where people have first been sick and where certain flu-related events have happened. You are reactive, rather than proactive,” he added.

The researchers envision a system that uses icons similar to those used to alert the public about an impending blizzard, hurricane or tornado.

The findings will be presented June 2 at the Industrial Engineering Research Conference in Miami. (ANI)

Paris Hilton embroiled in $8.3M movie promotion lawsuit

New Delhi, May 08 (ANI): Paris Hilton has defended herself against a lawsuit claiming she owes investors 8.3 million dollars for not fully promoting her 2006 film ‘Pledge This!”

The lawsuit was filed in Miami by Worldwide Entertainment Group Inc, reports the China Daily.

Company spokesperson Michael Goldberg has claimed Hilton’s failure to plug the movie’s DVD release cost investors more than 8.3 million dollars.

In a Miami Federal Court deposition, the socialite insists she honoured her contract and blames her overflowing work schedule for not meeting what she claims were last-minute demands.

“Any chance I got, any red carpet, any press, if I was doing something for another product … I would just bring it up. ‘Oh, my new sorority film, it’s going to be sexy, it’s going to be really hot girls’ — like I really, you know, did my best,” she said.

Hilton’s lawyer, Michael Weinstein added at a pre-trial motion hearing: “She’s the single busiest person on the planet.” (ANI)

Paris Hilton has never seen a phone bill in her entire life

London, May 8 (ANI): Hotel heiress Paris Hilton revealed that she had never seen a phone bill in her entire life during the pre-trial hearing for a court case in Miami, US.

The suit against her was filed by the makers of her flop 2006 film ‘Pledge This!’ who are seeking 5million pounds in damages, claiming that Paris failed to promote the film adequately.

Legal papers for the hearing describe her as the “single busiest person on the planet”, and reveal that she’s “never seen a phone bill in her entire life”.

According to reports, Paris drew a blank when she was questioned by lawyers about her mobile phone usage and calls from the producers.

“With my phone I never know, because I lose it all the time,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

“I’ve never seen a phone bill of mine in my life,” she added.

Asked who received her bills, Paris replied: “Does it say? I don’t know. I’m assuming, like, whoever pays my bills. I just feel bad. This is my first time looking at a phone bill.”

Paris was later asked whether she had any diary with her past business meetings and appearances, upon which she said that she used the Internet to see where in the world she had been.

“I don’t know. I’ll just look around, just press my name and Google it and see,” she said.

Upon being asked about her responsibilities as the film’s executive producer, Paris said: “I’m not sure what a producer does, but – I don’t know, help get cool people in the cast.”

She denied any wrongdoing, and claimed she promoted the film at every opportunity. (ANI)

Is Lindsay Lohan a bad influence to sister Ali Lohan’s mental health?

New York, May 6 (ANI): Actress Lindsay Lohan’s critics say that being her sister may harm her sister Ali’s mental health, for the ‘Mean Girls’ star is nowhere a good role model.

Experts believe that the sibling relationship could cause harm to 15-year-old Ali, as Lindsay in no way can make positive life choices.

“If you have an older child who is breaking a lot of the rules and engaging in dangerous and risky behavior, this can have a negative impact on the younger child,” the New York Daily News quoted Dr. Eva Ritvo, psychiatrist and vice chair of psychiatry at the University of Miami School of Medicine, as saying.

“Adolescents are trying to break away from their family and they don’t always make the best choices.

“They’re looking for role models other than their parents, and often turn to peers and older sisters, who can have a very powerful influence on the younger child,” she said.

Impressionable Ali can hardly help but notice Lindsay’s partying, stints in and out of rehab, and her skin-and-bones appearance. But how she reacts to those things could go one of two directions, experts say.

Teens having out-of-control older sibs may copy them, while others fall into the role of trying to protect loved ones from the person.

“You either try to outdo or you become a caretaker,” says Dr. Keith Ablow, psychiatrist and Fox News contributor, who founded the website www.LivingtheTruth.com.

“The course Ali is taking appears to be more in the direction of copying than in shrinking from the cameras and the revelry,” he said.

Psychologist Donna LaMar said that Ali could be helped if a caring adult steps in and offers guidance, support and perspective. That person does not necessarily have to be a relative in order to be effective, she said.

“It could be a teacher or in her case, maybe someone in the business,” LaMar said.

“The person could just say to her, hey what are you doing? What are you searching for and what do you need in your life right now?

“It’s never too late.

“There is always a choice to be made,” she stated.

For now, Ali, who was recently spotted holding Lindsay’s hand as they left West Hollywood’s Chateau Marmont together, appears to be choosing her sister.

“Trying to get what you need as a 15-year-old girl can be a tall order when your sister is very famous and very unpredictable,” Ablow said.

“A 15-year-old should not have to be in the role or either caretaker or competitor, but she should be in a comfortable place where she can become an individual, where she can look at the world with security and choose what defines her,” he added. (ANI)

Katy Perry’s ‘trendy’ swine flu-inspired ring!

Washington, May 5 (ANI): Katy Perry has vowed to be in style with her flying pig ring just as the world tries to tackle a global pandemic.

The singer revealed on her blog that she recently bought the ring in Miami to show she was updated with the trend.

“Since swine flu is super trendy I wanted to make sure I was in style with my swine flu ring!” People magazine quoted her as saying.

“I got this one in Miami at Big Drop the other day … a flying piggy,” she added.

The I Kissed a Girl hitmaker further mentioned her conversation on the topic with her cat Kitty Purry.

She added: “Kitty Purry was telling me the other night that she remembers when bird flu was in and now pig flu is cool and she wonders when kitty flu is gonna hit as she would like to be more popular than she currently already is. Fame whore.” (ANI)

Florida probes sudden deaths of 21 polo ponies

MIAMI (Reuters) – Florida launched an investigation on Monday into the deaths of 21 polo ponies from a Venezuelan team competing at the U.S. Open Polo Championship.

The horses collapsed after appearing dizzy and disoriented as the Lechuza Caracas team prepared for an afternoon match on Sunday at the International Polo Club of Palm Beach in Wellington, Florida, officials said.

“Because of the very rapid onset of sickness and death, state officials suspect these deaths were a result of an adverse drug reaction or toxicity,” Florida’s Department of Agriculture said in a statement announcing its investigation.

“At this time there is no evidence that these horses were affected with an infectious or contagious disease,” it said.

The horses were kept at the Lechuza Caracas equestrian facility near the polo grounds in Wellington, about 70 miles north of Miami, and did not show any signs of illness on Sunday morning, officials said.

But when they were offloaded from trailers at the polo club, some had died and the others were “showing severe symptoms of depression, respiratory problems, incoordination and recumbency,” the agriculture department said.

“It could be the water, hay, bedding, we just don’t know,” John Wash, president of club operations, told local media.

The Lechuza Caracas team is owned by millionaire Venezuelan banker Victor Vargas, who has been playing polo since he was 24, according to the North American Polo League’s website. Vargas was re-elected president of the Venezuelan Banking Association in April.

His team withdrew from the championship following the deaths, the league said.

Lechuza Caracas team veterinarian James Belden said the horses died one by one, “almost certainly of an intoxication of some sort that they consumed,” the Palm Beach Post reported.

Belden said it was unlikely that the horses had died from tainted medication or had been given anabolic steroids because they are banned in England, where the team competes.

“I’ve been in practice 50 years. I’ve never seen anything like this,” he told the newspaper.

Necropsies and toxicology tests were being performed on the horses, but it could take several days to learn the results.

“This is a tragic situation and we are working hard to determine what happened,” Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson said. “But it would be irresponsible to speculate on what may have killed the horses. We will wait until the facts are in before making any specific comments on the case.”
