“FlashForward,” NBC medical dramas face ax

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – After returning from a four-month hiatus, a pair of ABC sci-fi dramas face diverging hopes of renewal.

Entertainment | Television | Media

“FlashForward” is considered highly unlikely to get a second season, as its ratings have dropped below the 2.0 threshold in the key adults 18-49 demographic on Thursdays.

After its midseason premiere last week, “V” remains uncertain, but if it can maintain its current ratings level, the show’s evil reptiles will most likely invade ABC next season.

On NBC, “Heroes” is the network’s biggest question mark, with the Peacock strongly considering a final-season order. “Chuck” is less of a mystery, but the network is more optimistic this year than last. If freshman drama “Parenthood” can remain stable in the coming weeks, NBC likely will give the series another shot in the fall.

“Law & Order,” now in its 19th season, is costly and modestly rated — the two most common causes of death for older shows — but NBC will find it tough to resist the lure of making “L&O” the longest-running drama series in history.

NBC’s medical dramas are another story. “Trauma” is headed to the morgue, and “Mercy” is on life support. NBC keeps pulling for “Mercy” to succeed and feels the show has creatively improved, but its numbers are below the line.

NBC’s other game show, “The Marriage Ref,” is considered a lock for a pickup. Although its ratings have slipped a fair amount, the Jerry Seinfeld-produced advice show has performed solidly for an unscripted program in a tough time Thursday period.

Fox, which recently canceled “24,” has only a couple of “bubble” shows that could go either way: “Human Target” and the new comedy “Sons of Tucson.” “Target” has managed to win a humble Wednesday time period with an equally humble number. But the network likes the show, and its ratings have appeared to stabilize at a level Fox finds acceptable for its slot. Like most live-action comedies put into Fox’s Sunday animated lineup, “Tucson” has struggled to gain traction and is considered a long shot for a comeback.

For a network with few slots to fill, CBS has plenty of bubble shows: “Cold Case,” “Numbers,” “Ghost Whisperer,” “Medium,” “Accidentally on Purpose,” “Gary Unmarried” and “The New Adventures of Old Christine.”

This group is tougher to prognosticate as all the shows are fairly stable in the ratings, and CBS pilots will play a heavy deciding role. “Numbers” and “Cold Case” are considered the least likely to return among the dramas, with “Old Christine” the most likely renewal on the comedy side.

On the CW, veteran “One Tree Hill” and freshman “Life Unexpected” are duking it out for a presumed single slot on next season’s schedule, with the former tending to pull stronger ratings but the latter a less expensive show.

Terrorism a by-product of Pak’s past mistakes: Zardari

London, Sep. 19 (ANI): President Asif Ali Zardari has revealed that extremism was a by-product of Pakistan’s past mistakes and was deliberately created during the 1980s.

He said the employment of a liberal policy encouraged religious fanaticism and achieved of certain strategic objectives of terror perpetrators.

“What we are witnessing today is the outcome of that policy of the 80′s and even earlier. The policy of using religious extremism as an instrument of war. We in Pakistan have paid a very heavy price for this policy,” The News quoted Zardari, as saying.

Addressing a gathering at London’s International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS), Zardari pointed out that militants and militancy were not created in a vacuum; they have been the product of a deliberate policy to fight the rival ideology.

The free world adopted a novel strategy that was based on the exploitation of religion to motivate Muslims around the world to wage jehad, he added.

Furthermore, Zardari pointed out that the strategy may have worked well but some serious mistakes were also made as the world abandoned Afghanistan in a hurry and no thought was given to its stability after the withdrawal of foreign forces.

“After the retreat of foreign forces, Afghanistan was abandoned and left at the mercy of the warlords and the jehadis…Pakistan has suffered more than others. For decades we had to host and continue to host millions of Afghan refugees,” he said. (ANI)

Will Sarabjeet be spared the gallows under Pak Govt.’s plans to commute death sentences?

Islamabad, Sep.17 (ANI): The Pakistan government is considering commuting death sentences, but such a step may not help the cause of Sarabjeet Singh, the Indian inmate who has been awarded a death sentence by a Lahore anti-terrorism court in October 1991.

Interior Advisor Rehman Malik said the government has sent a draft to the law division seeking legal opinion on the proposal to commute death sentences.

Rehman, however, said that even if the proposal is accepted there would be no mercy for terrorists.

“They (terrorists) will have to face the death penalty,” The Dawn quoted Malik, as saying.

According to an estimate there are 7000 death inmates in Pakistan at present.

Pakistan security agencies have maintained that Singh had admitted that he was sent to Pakistan to carry out serial bomb blasts in Lahore, Faislabad, and Kasur, and was trained by the Indian Army, and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

Singh was awarded the death sentence by a Lahore anti-terrorism court in October 1991.

He challenged the verdict in the Supreme Court, however, the apex court quashed his appeal in September, 2005, saying that the review petition was not filed within the time period as mentioned in the law.

In March 2006, a two member Supreme Court bench dismissed Singh’s petition against his conviction in the Lahore’s Yakki Gate bomb blast in 1990.

Singh has been languishing in Pakistan jails for the last 28 years, as Pakistan has stonewalled release even on humanitarian grounds, despite continuous efforts by Indian diplomatic channels. (ANI)

Duffy dating British Lions rugby star Mike Phillips

London, Sep 3 (ANI): Welsh singer Duffy, real name Aimee Ann Duffy, is said to be dating British Lions rugby star Mike Phillips.

Sources say that Phillips, 27, dumped his girlfriend last week so that he could start dating Duffy, 25, who had a No1 hit with Mercy.

“Mike and Duffy went for their second date this week and they have fallen for each other,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

“Mike got her number from his agent a couple of weeks ago and texted her.

“It’s like Gavin and Charlotte – he wants to raise his profile and fancied Duffy so he thought he’d try his luck.

“As soon as Duffy agreed to a date he dumped his poor girlfriend Claire. He makes no secret that he wants to be the new Gavin and Charlotte. Claire is gutted.

“He had set his sights on opera singer Katherine Jenkins a while back, but she wasn’t interested,” the source added.

Gavin Henson, 27, and Charlotte Church, 23, were christened the Posh and Becks of Wales when they started dating in 2005. (ANI)

Roman Catholic church issues “sex” prayer for faithful couples!

London, Sept 2 (ANI): Excuse the pillow talk – and move straight to your bed’s side and recite a specially composed prayer before having sex – a prominent Church group has advised Roman Catholic couples.

And the prayer, which appears in the Prayer Book for Spouses, is being encouraged to remind couples that intercourse is a selfless act, not driven by hedonism.

The prayer implores God “to place within us love that truly gives, tenderness that truly unites, self-offering that tells the truth and does not deceive, forgiveness that truly receives, loving physical union that welcomes”, reports The Daily Mail.

The 64-page book, published by the London-based Catholic Truth Society, adds: “Open our hearts to you, to each other and to the goodness of your will.

“Cover our poverty in the richness of your mercy and forgiveness. Clothe us in true dignity and take to yourself our shared aspirations, for your glory, for ever and ever.”

According to the Rt Rev Paul Hendricks, who is the Auxiliary Bishop of Southwark, the prayer’s inclusion was ‘brave but good’.

“I suppose it is a bit idealistic but it is recognising that God is at the heart of the marriage relationship between husband and wife,” he said.

“It is important for the Church to affirm the value of marriage and family life and I suppose this is a particular way of doing that.

“Perhaps it is something that has not been tried, certainly for a while – I can’t remember seeing something like that before,” he added.

The book contains prayers for every stage of marriage and family life. (ANI)

100,000 Indians have signed a petition to free Sarabjit, claims his lawyer

Lahore/Islamabad, Aug.27 (ANI): Over 100,000 people in India, including former test cricketers and chief justices, have signed a petition addressed to Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari seeking clemency for Sarabjit Singh, an Indian currently on death row in a Pakistani prison.

Awais Sheikh, the counsel for Sarabjit, was quoted by a private television channel as saying that said he had brought back a mercy petition with more than 100,000 signatures from a recent visit to India.

“The signatories include former test cricketer Kapil Dev, the Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid Syed Ahmed Bukhari, Syed Amin Hashmi of the Ajmer Sharif shrine, former Chief Justices R S Mongia and Rajindar Sachar, members of Indian human rights groups, Christian and Muslim bodies, doctors, engineers, lawyers, farmers and students,” Sheikh said.

Sheikh said he would submit the mercy petition to the President and also apprise him about the sentiments of the Indians in this regard.

“Since Sarabjit has been in prison for long, his sentence can be commuted to life imprisonment under the law,” he said. Commuting Sarabjit’s sentence will help improve relations between India and Pakistan, he added.

Sarabjit has been on death row since he was convicted for alleged involvement in four bomb blasts in Pakistan’s Punjab province that killed 14 people in 1990. His family insists that he was wrongly convicted for the bombings.

Though he was to be hanged on April 1 last year, Pakistani authorities put off his execution indefinitely after Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani intervened in the matter. (ANI)

Madonna declares Jesus is ‘the love of her life’

Washington, August 18 (ANI): Madonna reportedly declared her toyboy lover Jesus Luz as “love of her life” at her recent birthday bash in Italy.

The Queen of Pop, who turned 51 on August 16, allegedly dedicated her speech to the 22-year-old Brazilian model before running across the room to plant a passionate kiss on his lips.

“He’s the love of my life. He has been so strong around me. I can’t thank him enough,” Contactmusic quoted her as apparently saying.

The couple was spotted taking a break as they hopped on a luxury yacht with the singer’s children – Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight, Mercy, four, and David, three.

An onlooker said: “She and Jesus looked madly in love and it was great to see her looking so happy. They just looked like any normal family enjoying a holiday together.” (ANI)

British embassy official confesses to spying during trial in Iran

Tehran (Iran), Aug. 9 (ANI): Britain’s troubled relations with Iran suffered a further setback as a British embassy official confessed to spying during a trial in Tehran, saying that Britain had provided financial assistance to Iran’s reformists to weaken the hardline clerical regime during the disputed presidential elections in June this year.

Hossein Rassam, a political analyst with the embassy, said the embassy had allocated a budget of 300,000 pounds to set up links with political groups, individuals and activists.

“My main responsibility was to gather information from Tehran and other cities by setting up contacts with individuals and other influential parties and political groups and send reports to London,” The Sunday Times quoted Rassam, as saying.

He further said that before the election he had personally made contact with the Mir Hossein Mousavi’s campaign headquarters.

Rassam also highlighted that due to Britain’s hostile policies towards Iran and fear of exposure, the embassy had employed local staff to establish such contacts.

Rassam was paraded in Tehran’s Revolutionary Square in a mass show trial along with numerous opposition figures who were accused of crimes, including rioting, spying and plotting a “soft overthrow” of the regime after the elections.

Meanwhile, Rassam has apologised for “his mistakes”, and appealed for mercy.

Madonna holds daily Kabbalah sessions with kids

London, July 12 (ANI): Queen of Pop Madonna is said to be holding daily Kabbalah sessions with her kids.

Madge, 50, asks her children how they have been behaving, and then weighs up all the evidence before dishing out her own form of “judgements”.

Based on a doctrine called Spirituality for Kids, devised by her pal Karen Berg, it’s meant to instil discipline into the home.

“Madonna firmly believes children are answerable for their behaviour and everyday actions,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

“David Banda and Mercy, guided by Lourdes or Madonna, stand about a desk in her office, discussing what they did during the day, and whether they’ve been good or bad.

“Madonna, acting as judge, gives her feedback and if the youngsters lose their tempers, they have to pause, and suggest better ways they could have behaved.

“Madonna is basically trying to establish a code of behaviour in the house according to Kabbalah principles.

“She wants the children to think about Kabbalah throughout the day – not just at the family court. It’s a real hit with the kids – they actually enjoy it.

“It’s based on the principle that if you do good deeds, good things will come to you, and if you do bad things then bad things will happen,” the source added. (ANI)

Solar eclipse popularises astro-tourism in India

New Delhi, July 9 (ANI): After space tourism, it is astro-tourism that is catching up people’s fancy, courtesy the ensuing total solar eclipse.

Air charter and tourist operators in India are receiving an overwhelming response for chartered flights to view total solar eclipse of longest duration in 21st century.

All set to take place on July 22, the eclipse holds special interest for scientists and general public as its path of totality passes through thickly populated western, central, eastern and northeastern regions of India.

Cox and Kings, a travel agency claims that both amateur astronomers and others are booking for the Boeing-737 that they have hired for the two-hour journey from Delhi to Gaya in Bihar to watch the rare total solar eclipse.

Each ticket is priced at rupees 79,000 (around 1,618 dollars).

“Well, we have got very strong response. The airline that we are flying has 21 seats facing the sun and 21 more window seats, which are facing away from the sun, facing the earth. We call them the ‘sun side seats’ and the ‘earth side seats’. The sun side seats, which will have direct view of the eclipse, cost about 79,000 rupees. We are actually getting very strong response form the amateur astronomy circles in India, from the corporate world and a wide variety of audience,” said Nikhil Pawar, Scientific Officer, Space Technology and Education Private Limited, Mumbai.

On July 22, the moon will totally eclipse the sun after a decade. The next total solar eclipse will take place again only in 2034.

People on board these chartered flights can watch the eclipse for almost 10 times more than those on ground. And, there are reasons attributed to such a phenomenon.

“Theoretically the totality (of the eclipse) can be only 7 minutes 30 seconds. So that is the maximum you can get, if you are stationed at one place and during that period, by chasing the moon shadow they (people in airplanes) increase the time to 74 minutes that means almost ten times than the theoretically maximum possible,” Piyush Pandey, Director, Nehru Planetarium, Mumbai.

Meanwhile, hotel owners in Patna are preparing to welcome the rush of astro-tourist guests expected to halt here.

“The solar eclipse on the 22nd can be seen from Bihar. The tourists will come on the 21st and 12 rooms have been booked for them in our hotel,” said Vinay Pandey, owner Hotel Republic, Patna.

In India, the eclipse will commence soon after sunrise.

Surat and Vadodra in Gujarat, Indore and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh apart from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and Patna in Bihar are stated to be the ideal locations for good views of the total solar eclipse.

It provides a rare opportunity to view and study this grand spectacle of nature. The partial phase of the eclipse will be visible throughout the country.

Astro-tourism comes as a surprise in a country where people for ages have been considering eclipses especially solar eclipses as bad omen.

The belief that the sun is at the mercy of two evil planets, Rahu and Ketu causing the eclipse, still prevails among a large section of people despite propagation of scientific temper among the masses. (ANI)

Madge ‘snubbed 12 Malawi orphans to adopt Mercy’

London, June 28 (ANI): Just a little more than two weeks after being granted the right to take home Mercy James, Madonna has come under fire for ignoring 12 needy orphans so that she could adopt two Malawian kids she really wanted.

Apparently, the 50-year-old – now mum to David Banda, three, and four-year-old Mercy James – was asked to chose from a dozen children who had been chosen for her by the Malawian government.

However, a Channel 4 documentary has claimed that she chose David and Mercy instead despite them having families, reports The News of the World.

Meanwhile, according to reports, the pop diva has got Mercy converted to Kabbalah.

She was able to adopt Mercy earlier this month after successfully appealing a court ruling which refused her bid. (ANI)

Pakistan nationals living in India appeal for Sarabjeet Singh’s release

Tirur (Kerala), June 26 (ANI): Currently languishing in Pakistan jail, Indian prisoner Sarabjeet Singh has found supporters in Pakistani nationals living in India.

Around 180 registered citizens holding Pakistan passports, residing in Tirur in Kerala are gearing up to put forth an appeal to President Asif Ali Zardari to review Sarabjeet’s death sentence.

“We are now mobilising these people and we will be getting their signatures on a memorandum and this memorandum we intend to root it to United Nations Human Rights organisation and so also the Commonwealth Human Rights initiative,” said Pouran, Human Rights Activist, People’s Union For Civil Liberties (PUCL).

According to these people, their faith does not allow the killing of innocents and as he has suffered for past so many years.

“Past is past. He has suffered a lot in these years. If he has done any wrong, taking revenge or killing someone is not mentioned in our faith and is also not a solution, so releasing him will be the right thing to do,” said M Kunju Ahmed, a Pakistan national.

Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed an appeal by Sarabjeet Singh seeking a review of a death sentence in his alleged involvement in the Lahore bomb attacks in 1990.

A three-member bench led by Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed dismissed Sarabjit’s review petition on the grounds of non-pursuance of the case by his lawyer. Sarabjit’s counsel had failed to appear in court for the past few hearings, including the last one on Monday.

Rana Abdul Hamid, the lawyer who was representing Sarabjit, had been unable to appear in court after he was appointed last year an additional advocate general by Punjab province.

Earlier, Ansar Burney, the leading Pakistani Human Rights activist has said that he would file a fresh mercy petition to Pakistan President on behalf of Sarabjit Singh.

“I will file a fresh Mercy petition before the President of Pakistan. I am confident that I will not allow Pakistan Government to hang an innocent person only on the basis that he is Non-Muslim or Indian national,” Ansar Burney said.

Sarabjit Singh is a resident of Amritsar in Punjab. He was arrested near the Kasur border in Pakistan in August 1990. As per his family, he had actually strayed into Pakistan”s territory in an inebriated state.

New Delhi urges Islamabad to show sympathy to Sarabjeet Singh

New Delhi, June 25 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S.M Krishna has urged Islamabad to show sympathy to Indian prisoner Sarabjeet Singh after Pakistan’s Supreme Court rejected his mercy plea and upheld the death sentence in his alleged involvement in the Lahore bomb attacks in 1990.

“We have consistently urged the government of Pakistan to take a sympathetic and humanitarian view in this case. It is our hope that they will find it possible to do so,” Krishna told reporters here on Wednesday.

Earlier on Wednesday, a three-member bench led by Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed dismissed Sarabjit’s review petition on the grounds of non-pursuance of the case by his lawyer.

Rejection of Sarabjeet’s mercy plea in Pakistan saddens family at home

Amritsar, June 24 (ANI): A pall of gloom descended over the family of Sarabjeet Singh, the Indian national facing gallows in Pakistani jails for 18 years, on Wednesday after learning that the Pakistan’s apex court has rejected his mercy plea.

Pakistan’s Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed an appeal by Sarabjeet Singh’s lawyer seeking a review of a death sentence imposed on him for spying and carrying out bombings in the 1990s in Pakistan.

A three-member Bench upheld the sentence, saying they had found no reason to reconsider the original ruling.

Meanwhile, the distraught family of Sarabjeet in Punjab wants the Government of India should intervene and save him.

“Yesterday we came to know that our father’s bail would be heard on Wednesday. We were really hoping for a positive outcome but today when we heard that his bail plea has been rejected, we are in a state of shock because results disappointed our expectations. It has saddened us,” said Poonam, Sarabjeet Singh’s daughter.

Also Sarabjeet Singh’s sister Dalbir Kaur on this occasion appealed countrymen to come forward and help her brother gain freedom.

“I will again appeal to the Government of India and plead them but this time I will need the support of my countrymen so that our government wakes up from its slumber and take up the prisoner’ cause especially Sarabjeet’s case and I know that my countrymen would not disappoint us and support us,” said Dalbir Kaur, Sarabjeet’s sister.

Meanwhile, former chief minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh said in the national capital that the decision would further worsen the already strained relationship between India and Pakistan.

“This is a really sensitive issue. We had taken the matter with the Government of India and the Government had taken the matter with the Pakistani Government. But we are really sad that his (Sarabjeet) mercy has been rejected and that will unfortunately not lead to good relationship with our neighbouring states as so many issue are pending. Also I think it was for the Pakistani Government to take into consideration the larger perspective and to take a decision in that regard,” said Amarinder Singh, former chief minister of Punjab.

Sarabjeet Singh was sentenced to death in 1991 for spying and bombings that killed 14 people. His family said he was innocent and had crossed the border into Pakistan accidentally in 1990 in a drunken state.

However, authorities in Pakistan contended that Sarabjeet Singh was arrested while trying to slip back into India after the bomb blasts.

The Government suspended his death sentence in May last year after his family visited Pakistan and appealed for a pardon.

Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf had also rejected Sarabjeet Singh’s mercy plea in March last year but deferred his execution after a request from the Indian government. (ANI)

Madonna ‘to cocoon Mercy from the world’

London, June 22 (ANI): Madonna is reportedly looking to cocoon her newly adopted daughter from the world after the tot joined her new mum in London.

Little Mercy James was apparently flown 6,000 miles from Malawi to meet her new family after the singer won the child’s custody two weeks ago.

The four-year-old was whisked to Madonna’s luxury home where she joined her new siblings Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight and adopted David, three.

The Queen of Pop, known to pals as Em, will cocoon the youngster at her Marylebone home, while she settles into her new life, according to pals.

“Em has been waiting for this moment for years, but realises that she shouldn’t over-stimulate Mercy by immediately smothering her with attention and things to do,” British tabloid The Sun quoted a family friend as saying.

“After all, she has been in this before when she brought David home from Malawi so she understands how confusing it must be.

“The next few days are all about cocooning Mercy from the world and getting her used to being around her new family. Em had hoped to have all the children together for the next few days.

“But David couldn’t contain his excitement and was tearing round the house like a runaway horse. He kept shouting, ‘I want to see my sister,” and endlessly hugging and tugging at her.

“In the end it was best to pack him off with Rocco to Guy’s place in Wiltshire. Guy has been here to meet Mercy too. Em has a gentle few days planned ahead, with lots of singing and reading to her new daughter.

“Mercy has already fallen in love with the 2,000-pound rocking horse Em has placed in her bedroom. She can’t take her eyes off it,” the friend added,

Madonna first spotted Mercy at an orphanage during her first visit to Malawi in 2006, but chose to adopt David Banda instead after the tot’s grandmother refused to let her go. (ANI)

Madge ‘flies Mercy straight to Kabbalah meeting’

London, June 21 (ANI): Madonna’s new adopted daughter Mercy was reportedly flown 6,000 miles from Malawi to meet her new family in London and taken straight to a Kabbalah meeting.

The three-year-old was allegedly whisked to the Kabbalah centre for her first lesson in the controversial Jewish mysticism within hours of arriving.

Little Mercy along with her new mum and siblings Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight and David, three, was said to have spent an hour at the meeting before heading for the Queen of Pop’s 15-million pound home in Mayfair.

And the reported move to deny Mercy the chance to settle into her new life immediately after her arrival has sparked criticism.

“Taking her to a Kabbalah meeting will be a complete culture shock. She should be kept safe from experiences in the spotlight that will not help with her development,” The Mirror quoted Child psychologist Katherine Fingleton as saying.

Mercy was jetted out of the poverty-stricken southern African country after Madonna won custody of the child two weeks ago.

The singer was previously denied the right to adopt the Malawian tot since she was not a resident of the state.

But the decision was overturned by Malawi Supreme Court, saying that the child, who had been living in an orphanage, would have a better life with the megastar.

Madge and kids jet off to Malawi to get Mercy

London, June 20 (ANI): Madonna has finally jetted off to Malawi to pick up her new adopted daughter Mercy James.

Tagging along with the Queen of Pop on her journey to Malawi were her kids- Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight, and David, three.

While the 50-year-old superstar had initially planned to have the four-year-old flown to her LA home, she later set off to get her personally on adopted son David’s insistence.

“I want to play with my sister NOW,” the Sun quoted David as saying.

However, Mercy’s whereabouts were unknown after she was moved from Madge’s pad in capital Lilongwe under a veil of secrecy. (ANI)

Madonna, Jesus ‘to swap commitment vows in Kabbalah service’

London, May 10 (ANI): Queen of Pop Madonna and lover Jesus Luz are reportedly planning a “commitment ceremony” in front of a rabbi at the Kabbalah Centre in Manhattan.

According to pals, the 50-year-old and Luz decided they wanted to take a new step in their relationship after her bid to adopt a Malawi orphan failed.

The 22-year-old model has already converted from Catholicism to the Kabbalah religion as a mark of his commitment to the singer.

At the beginning of this year Luz was spotted joining Madonna at the Kabbalah centre with her daughter Lourdes and David Banda, her adopted son from Malawi, reports The Mirror.

He was also Madonna’s escort at a major fashion show in New York last week.

A source said: “They are totally besotted with each other and he’s really helped Madonna through this tough time.

“It wasn’t that the relationship went off the boil, it was more a matter of Madonna wanting to concentrate on her adoption bid of Mercy and they wanted to keep a low profile while that became the main focus.

“Madonna was devastated when the adoption was rejected the first time but now she wants to lavish some attention on Jesus and she’s keen to make sure they have a solid relationship for all the children’s sakes.” (ANI)

Madonna’s ‘slutty’ dressing may cost her Malawian kid adoption bid

London, May 6 (ANI): Madonna may have jeopardised her chances of adopting a second Malawian child after sporting a “slut look” at an event, sparking speculation about her morality.

The Queen of Pop, who has been trying to adopt four-year-old Mercy James, turned up at the red carpet in a navy blue wench-inspired mini, kinky thigh-high PVC boots, and jewelled black fingerless gloves.

While fashion experts said that the singer looked like “a slutty cleaning lady”, Mercy’s father James Kambewa dubbed her racy outfit as “immoral dressing”.

“I cannot imagine how this woman can want to be the mother of my Mercy. This can’t be a woman of 50. A teenage woman would feel ashamed in that gear,” the Daily Star quoted him as saying.

“A woman is supposed to be a role model for her daughters. What morals can a woman of 50 have, who has no qualms in showing her delicate parts and displaying herself like that in front of her children?

“I don’t want my daughter anywhere near such a moral-less person,” he added.

Madonna’s adoption bid had been rejected by a court because she was not a Malawi resident, a requirement that was waived when she adopted three-year-old David Banda from the African country in 2006.

The 50-year-old’s lawyer had lodged an appeal to overturn the judge’s decision. (ANI)

‘Madge shattered by reports of doomed adoption bid’

London, May 4 (ANI): Madonna is reportedly shattered with claims that her bid to adopt a second Malawian child is headed downhill.

The Queen of Pop had been preparing to adopt three-year-old Mercy James but her application had been rejected by a court.

The 50-year-old’s lawyer had lodged an appeal to overturn the judge’s decision and the date for the hearing was marked for May 4.

But recent reports suggesting her desperate attempt to win the custody of Mercy would be crushed again had reportedly left the singer on the brink.

“Madonna has fallen in love with Mercy and can’t bear to hear any suggestion she won’t become her mum,” the Daily Star quoted a source as saying.

“She’s a powerful woman who’s used to getting her own way and has been clinging onto the hope she will win the appeal.

“She’s already been shattered by reports she will lose and all hell will break loose if her claim is dismissed.

“Her heart is totally set on taking Mercy home. If she doesn’t get her way, no-one wants to be in the line of fire as she vents her fury,” the source added.
