DoSomething.org Celebrates the 2010 VH1 Do Something Awards With Star-Studded Award Show in Hollywood

LOS ANGELES, July 20 /PRNewswire/ — Tonight DoSomething.org celebrated young do-gooders, celebrities and organizations that have made a commitment to social change with the star-studded “Do Something Awards” LIVE on VH1. Hosted by comedic genius and “Glee” star Jane Lynch, the show featured musical performances by Natasha Bedingfield, Lifehouse, and Travie McCoy with special guest Bruno Mars and an all-star red carpet before the award show at The Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. The night concluded with revealing Jessica Posner as the grand prize winner of the $100,000.

The evening represented a high-energy mix of pop culture, entertainment and music with celebrity supporters Paula Abdul, Megan Fox, George Lopez, Demi Lovato, Kristen Bell, Randy Jackson, and Kara Dioguardi. Online voting was held to determine the winners of the celebrity categories, which included influential celebrities, musicians, comedians, and athletes, inspiring films and television shows, and social media initiatives. The big winner of the night was Jessica Posner. Jessica, age 23, co-founded Shining Hope for Communities to combat gender inequity and poverty in Kibera. Through the Kibera School for Girls, the first free school in Kibera, and the Shining Community Center, Jessica has helped over 5,700 residents gain education and employment. Since 1996, DoSomething.org has honored the nation’s best young world-changers, 25 and under. The Do Something Award is the premier national award for community service, and nominees and winners represent the pivotal “do-ers” in their field, cause, or issue.

The evening became a hands-on experience with social media cards on every audience seat with “6 Ways to DO Something…RIGHT NOW” and DoSomething.org CEO Nancy Lublin’s cell phone number and an invitation to text her. Twitter was an important element to the show as audience members and viewers were encouraged to Twitter throughout the show using the official #DSAwards hashtag. Photos from the red carpet were uploaded in real time and live user tweets appeared in a ticker during the show. Host Jane Lynch also answered real questions from fans and viewers that were submitted via Twitter leading up to the Do Something Awards.

Megan Fox’s new husband will play a contractor who turns up the heat on Wisteria Lane as a potential love interest to one of the housewives.

The former “Beverly Hills, 90210″ star has landed a couple major series on TV in recent years, including a recurring role on The CW’s “Smallville,” as well as series regular role on Fox’s “Sarah Connor Chronicles.”

New York, June 11 (ANI): Megan Fox”s new interview with an American mag reveals the actress” thoughtful and sensitive side.

Taking to Interview mag, Fox opened up about her dislike for the paparazzi.

“I don”t really resent being on the red carpet as much as I do having to deal with the paparazzi,” The New York Daily News quoted her, as telling the mag.

Fox added: “The photographers on the red carpet, that”s their job.”

Taking about an interview when she compared Transformers director Michael Bay to dictators like Hitler and Napoleon, Fox said: “In the past, I”ve been reluctant to share any bits of truth about myself or to really let people in on my reality.

Lindsay Lohan wants to be appreciated for her acting, not body

Wellington, June 4 (ANI): ‘Mean Girls’ star Lindsay Lohan has revealed that she would never star in ‘Transformers’ as she wants to be appreciated for her acting and not her body.

Lohan, 23, had been rumoured to be in the running to replace Megan Fox in the third film in the action series, but the role ended up going to Victoria”s Secret model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

“it’s just not my kinda movie- but it’s also a type cast situation- hot chick in short shorts, daisy duke situation, right??? (sic),” Stuff.co.nz quoted her as writing on her Twitter page when a fan asked why she hadn’t accepted the role.

Meanwhile, the actress is currently recovering from having her wisdom teeth extracted earlier this week. She is still in agony after the operation, and says her face is so swollen she looks like a chipmunk. (ANI)

Megan Fox keen to land Pirates of the Caribbean role

Wellington, May 26 (ANI): Megan Fox is eyeing a part in the new Pirates of the Caribbean flick, it has emerged.

Movie bosses are reportedly looking for an actress to play a sexy mermaid in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”, which stars Johnny Depp as pirate Captain Jack Sparrow.

And Megan, whose exit from the Transformers franchise has recently been announced, is keen to land the role.

“Megan is mulling over a number of big movie offers including another sci-fi franchise and a role in the next Pirates of the Caribbean,” Stuff.co.nz quoted a source, as saying.

The insider added: “She would play a mermaid who charms Captain Jack but she has a dark motive.”

Also, teaming up with Depp is something Megan has always dreamt of.

Washington, May 20 (ANI): Actress Megan Fox has been reportedly dropped from ‘Transformers 3’.

According to a report from Access Hollywood, a source who works at Paramount, the studio that produces the film, said Fox’s character would not be revived in the third installment of “Transformers,” as producers want to take Shia LaBeouf’s character Sam Witwicky in a different direction, reports Fox News.

Director Michael Bay apparently made the decision months after Fox compared his work approach on set to that of “Hitler” and “Napoleon.”

Production on the third installment has already begun, according to reports. (ANI)

London, May 19 (ANI): Model turned actress Megan Fox has been fuming over her naked pictures being publicized on Internet.

A set insider clicked ‘Transformers’ star in her underwear while she was filming a scene for upcoming movie Passion Play and the photos were leaked just months after a pal sold topless shots of her to the tabloids, reports The Daily Star.

Fox said that she wouldn”t hold back if she would discover who released the snaps.

“If I knew who took this picture, I would personally cause them harm – physical harm. I”m not a f**king reality TV star that”s courting the paparazzi and wants my f**king picture taken all the time,” Fox told Allure magazine.

Celebrity burglar jailed for six months

A teenage reality television actress who was allegedly part of a gang of youthful thieves that targeted homes of Hollywood celebrities was jailed for six months, officials said.

Alexis Neiers, 18, pleaded no contest to taking part in a burglary at the home of “Lord of the Rings” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” heart-throb Orlando Bloom. She will begin serving her sentence on June 24.

Neiers is one of the stars of the E! television show “Pretty Wild,” which follows the fortunes of three sisters seeking to find fame and fortune as they navigate the Hollywood social scene.

Neiers was arrested after filming for the show’s pilot was completed.

“Today, Alexis entered a no-contest plea to one count of residential burglary and accepted some county jail time in order to avoid trial and a possible lengthy state prison sentence,” defence attorney Jeffrey Rubenstein told reporters outside the court.

In an interview with police, Neiers acknowledged being on Bloom’s property on July 13 last year with co-defendant Nicholas Frank Prugo and two other women, but denied taking anything from the house.

Neiers also told police she did not know the house being burgled was Bloom’s and that she was outside vomiting after “drinking a lot” when she saw that her accomplices were “tearing the house apart.”

Five other people, including Prugo, face a hearing on May 25 to determine if there is sufficient evidence to require them to stand trial for a series of burglaries targeting celebrities’ homes.

Along with the burglary at Bloom’s house, Prugo is accused of burglarising the homes of Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox, Rachel Bilson, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Audrina Patridge.

London, Apr 29 (ANI): Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole has been named the world”s sexiest woman for the second year in row.

The X Factor judge, estimated to be worth 10 million pounds, has left behind the likes of Transformers star Megan Fox and underwear model Marissa Miller.

The singer is the first Brit to top the FHM”s 100 Sexiest Women in the World poll.

Cole split from footballer husband Ashley earlier this year after stories about his alleged affairs surfaced and saucy photos of him taken on his mobile phone were sent to other women.

Fox was ranked runner-up for a second year, with Victoria”s Secret model Miller in third spot.

Chart star Frankie Sandford of all-girl act The Saturdays took fourth position, up 13 places in a year.

Mickey Rourke’s ‘pain in the ass’ experience with a Hollywood star actress!

Melbourne, April 28(ANI): Mickey Rourke has said that it was “a pain in the ass” working with one of the top Hollywood actresses in a new film.

However, ‘The Wrestler’ star did not reveal the name of the beauty.

“I worked with an actress recently who, despite having a reputation as a good actress, s**ts herself when that little red light comes on,” the Daily Telegraph quoted him, as telling MovieHole.

He added: “She”s fooled everyone into thinking she”s a lot better than she is. Working with someone like that is a pain in the ass.”

His recent co-stars include Scarlett Johansson, Olvia Munn and Gwyneth Paltrow in ‘Iron Man 2’.

New York, April 01 (ANI): Hollywood hottie Megan Fox has turned down the chance to be the next Lara Croft to dissuade more comparisons to Angelina Jolie, original star of the film ‘Tomb Raider’.

“The offer has been on the table for Megan for a while but she’s reluctantly turned it down,” the New York Daily News quoted an insider telling the entertainment Web site Showbiz Spy.

“She’s the logical choice to play Lara and she loves the character but the comparison with Angelina [Jolie] is too much,” the insider added.

For Fitness Magazine’s new Hollywood”s Best Bodies issue, readers voted for the stars with the best abs, bottoms and style, reports The Daily Star.

In the Best Celebrity Abs category, Gwen Stefani won 55 per cent of the votes, while Fox has the most coveted derriere, according to the survey.
