Family friend says the Gores just ”grew apart” after 40 years of marriage

Quinn told CBS” “The Early Show” on Wednesday that she had never heard any rumors of infidelity and thinks the pair just “grew apart.”

“They were sort of nomads in a way. They went back to Tennessee, but they didn”t really live there,” the New York Daily News quoted Quinn, as saying.

“Al traveled a lot. They sort of migrated to the West Coast, where Tipper has an apartment, and Al has a lot of business. But he was traveling all the time. And, I think, their interests just diverged,” she added.

Quinn also said Tipper may have wanted to branch out on her own.

“It may be that she”s just tired of being the wife, and wants to be someone who can accomplish something on her own,” Quinn said.

Although Quinn believes neither of the Gores was unfaithful, she is deeply upset by the couple”s split.

“The interesting thing is, that usually when something like this happens, you get a sense of glee, people that are saying, ”I told you so,” or ”I knew it” or whatever,” she said. “I have only encountered sadness.”

The Gores announced their separation in an e-mail to friends on Tuesday, writing the split was “a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration.” (ANI)

For women, marriage comes with ””numerous health risks””

London, May 20 (ANI): Marriage comes with numerous health risks, especially for brides, according to a new book.

Tara Parker-Pope””s new book,” For Better (For Worse): The Science Of A Good Marriage” analyses more than 200 matrimony studies to show that an unhappy marriage can be more harmful to long-term health than becoming single again.

Leading British marriage counsellor Andrew G. Marshall feels most of us tend to ignore marriage””s powerful effect on physical wellbeing.

“Forget eating your five a day and taking vitamins, it would be far better for your health to tell your partner you love them. Devoting time to them would be more effective in increasing health and happiness than going for a jog,” the Sun quoted him, as saying.

Marshall went on: “I can””t think of anything more important than your relationship with your partner.

“But because we have this rosy view of love conquering all, we think we can neglect it and things will just keep trundling along.

“We don””t realise that if this building block in our lives collapses, our health goes with it. I””ve had clients who get terrible migraines, panic attacks and depression.”

Marshall believes marriages can particularly affect women””s health.

He said: “For a man, marriage is wonderful because you don””t really have to think about looking after yourself.

“But women end up doing the worrying for two.” (ANI)

Shyness ‘can lead to marital problems’

Washington, May 20 (ANI): Here’s a piece of information for introverts: Shyness can negatively affect the quality of your marriage.

A key question in psychology, and everyday life is the extent to which a person”s personality determines the shape and quality of his or her social relationships.

In two studies, researchers explored the specific impact of shyness on marital quality.

In one of the studies, researchers Levi Baker and James K. McNulty found that shyness was linked both to more severe marital problems among newlyweds and to overall lower marital quality.

Shyer people reported more problems with issues like trust, jealousy, money, and household management.

In the second study, the researchers explicitly showed that it was prior shyness that was linked to marital difficulties later—even declines in marital satisfaction—and not early marital difficulties that were linked to later shyness.

The authors suggest that shyness makes it more difficult for people to enter into social relationships and, because shy people feel more social anxiety, they are less confident in dealing with the inevitable problems that marriage entails.

“There is hope even though shyness itself might be resistant to change. People can be taught to have more efficacy in how to resolve the specific marital problems they face. As a consequence, any marital difficulties prompted by personality can be prevented by explicit training on dealing with marital problems,” the authors said.

The study has been published in the journal Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin. (ANI)

Now, dissolvable-wedding-dress for money-saving brides!

Washington, May 18 (ANI): Girls who think that it is foolish to spend big bucks on a wedding dress, here’s a environmental friendly solution—a dissolvable wedding gown.

According to Brides.com”s American Wedding Study from 2009, an average woman spends 1,056 dollars on her wedding dress.

And thus, students at Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom came up with the dissolvable wedding gown.

They wanted to make a statement about our disposable society, where clothes frequently go from wash-n-wear to wear-n-waste.

Their dress is made polyvinyl alcohol, a biodegradable substance using in washing detergents.

From Gizmag, the substance “is knitted into the dress fabric which allows it to dissolve in water leaving no impact on the environment,” reports Discovery News.

But before dissolution, the wearer can transform the dress into five different outfits.

The designs were featured in the exhibition “A Sustainable Marriage,” at the university”s Furnival Gallery. (ANI)
