New Delhi, Sep.1 (ANI): Sanjana Jon, sister of celebrity fashion designer Anand Jon has appealed to the Government to intervene in the case of her brother, failing which she would observe hunger strike.

On Monday, Los Angeles Superior Court sentenced Anand Jon to 59 years in prison for sexually assaulting aspiring models as young as 14 years in age.

Sanajana said that she would observe a hunger strike, if her pleas for help at the inter-governmental level were not paid heed to.

“My appeal is for intervention and I have said if I don’t get any help, my only resort, last resort would be to sit on a hunger strike till my voice is heard,” said Sanjana Jon.

In Bangalore, Anand Jon’s fashion designer friend and stage artiste, Prasad Bidappa expressed sorrow at the American court’s judgement.

“Anand Jon case, I find particularly sad because I feel he was truly a very good talent; somebody who, I think, was taking India’s torch forward in terms of fashion. I feel very sad that it had to come to an end like this,” said Prasad Bidappa.

Last November, thirty five-year-old Jon was found guilty of 16 counts, including rape, sexual battery and performing lewd acts on a child.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Wesley sentenced Jon to 59 years to life after denying his motions for a new trial.

Later, the police got involved in March 2007 after a woman said she was sexually assaulted at his Beverly Hills apartment.on, whose full name is Anand Jon Alexander, denied the charges. His lawyers said the girls and young women were revenge seekers who had made up their stories or who had ‘invited what happened’, and that in the case, there had been least physical evidence.

The Indian-born designer was profiled on the TV show ‘America’s Next Top Model’ in 2003 and selected by Newsweek magazine as one of the world’s most successful South Asians in 2004. (ANI)

US Fritzl describes his crime as “the most powerful heart-warming story”

London, Aug 29 (ANI): Phillip Garrido, the “American Fritzl”, who held a girl captive for 18 years and fathered two children with her, claimed the kidnap and rape ordeal of Jaycee Lee Dugard would be revealed as “a powerful, heart-warming story”.

The convicted rapist, who snatched Jaycee at age of 11, added: “You’re going to be really impressed – it’s going to make world news.”

The 58-year-old was speaking to a Californian TV station instead of a lawyer using the one phone call to which he was legally entitled, reports The Daily Express.

Phillip was arrested after police discovered he had held kidnap victim Jaycee in a compound at the back of his Californian home since 1991.

It is believed she had two daughters with Garrido and that the girls, aged 11 and 15, have never been to school or visited a doctor.

Despite the appalling nature of the crimes, Garrido, who has been charged with kidnapping, rape, conspiracy and committing lewd acts with a minor, did admit what he had done was “disgusting”.

However, he claimed the world will be “impressed” when it hears his side of the story.

He said: “Wait until you hear the story of what took place in this house. You’re going to be absolutely impressed. It’s a disgusting thing that took place with me at the beginning but I turned my life completely around.

“Having those two children – those two girls. They slept in my arms every single night and I never touched them.”

He went on: “You are going to find the most powerful story coming from the witness, the victim – you wait.

“If you take this a step at a time, you’re going to fall over backwards and in the end, you’re going to find the most powerful heart-warming story.”

The arrest of Phillip has brought to mind the case of Josef Fritzl who was arrested in 2008 on similar charges. Both men were accused of keeping young girls prisoner and fathering children by them against their will. (ANI)

Sachs thanks Brand for boosting his career with prank sex call

London, May 5 (ANI): Andrew Sachs has expressed his gratitude to Russell Brand for his radio-prank sex call because the scandal boosted his career.

The 78-year-old had been due to be a phone-in guest on a late-night radio show with RJ Brand and DJ Jonathan Ross.

On being unavailable, he had received four messages on his home phone from the pair claiming the former had slept with his granddaughter, Georgina Baillie.

The October incident, in which Brand spoke of his prior sexual relationship with the goth-styled model while Ross passed lewd comments, had led to a record number of complaints and criticism resulting in the suspension of both presenters from their positions at the BBC Radio 2.

And Sachs has now thanked the two for bringing his profile back to the limelight with the row.

“I came out of it very well. My profile’s up. Great! They did me good. Thank you very much,” the Daily Star quoted him as saying. (ANI)

Divorce judge quotes “F*** poem” in family battle!

London, Apr 30 (ANI): A Brit divorce judge, who decided to lay emphasis on the distressing impact divorce has on children, quoted a famous lewd poem as he made a ruling in a family battle on April 29.

Lord Justice Nicholas Wall used the words from English poet Philip Larkin’s 1971 work ‘This Be The Verse’, to put his point across.

“They f*** you up, your mum and dad. They may not mean to, but they do,” the Sun quoted him as reciting.

“They fill you with the faults they had, and add some extra, just for you,” he said.

The Appeal Court judge, dealing with a residence order, said he hoped he would give the mother and father a fright because they had both come “within a whisker” of losing their nine-year-old son.

As he ruled the boy could live with the mother, he said the parents had harmed him by their “ongoing mutual dislike and recriminations” for each other following the break-up.

The judge issued a statement overturning a decision by Luton County Court, Beds, at which custody of the boy had been given to his maternal grandparents.

“These four lines give a clear warning to parents,” he added. (ANI)

Russell Brand, Jonathan Ross now ‘want to conquer the world’

London, April 22 (ANI): Pranksters Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross have teamed up again and now want to conquer the world.

The two pranksters had faced much heat after the Andrew Sachs scandal, which led to Brand’s resignation from the BBC in October after he boasted about sleeping with the 78-year-old’s granddaughter.

Ross too had been suspended after making lewd comments on the Fawlty Towers actor’s answering machine.

The pair joined forces again on air when Brand invited Ross to be a guest on his Talksport show with Oasis star Noel Gallagher.

“We’ve hopefully healed the hurt. I’m back with Russ, and it’s great fun. One day I want to do a big show with him and we will rule the world,” the Mirror quoted Ross as saying.

Brand, along with co-host Noel, recently rang up none other than US President Barack Obama, and left a message on his answer machine that said:

“Dear Barack Obama, we are calling to find out if you are the world’s most famous West Ham supporter as it is claimed.”

Noel later added: “That message better not jeopardise my American visa situation.” (ANI)

Net, TV encouraging teens to behave like ‘porn stars’

London, March 30 (ANI): Teens are budding thinking it is okay to ape porn stars after viewing explicit content on the Internet, TV or mobile phones, reveals a new UK study.

According to the shocking figures revealed on Channel 4′s The Sex Education Show Vs Pornography, exposure to pornography was encouraging youngsters to imitate what they see.

The study revealed that the lewd and hardcore imagery also egged them on to have unsafe sex, boob jobs, thin bodies and Hollywood waxes.

Boffins had interviewed 443 teenagers aged 14 to 17 at schools across the country, and found that one third of kids gathered the idea of what was “normal” about sex from porn rather than their parents.

The study also found that almost nine out of ten teens between 14 to 17 years had seen porn and nearly one in five accessed it more than once a week.

It was further revealed that girls as young as 14 and 15 were stripping and performing sex acts on webcams for their boyfriends who think it is okay to do so in front of the lens.

A 15-year-old girl explained the lads were accustomed to viewing similar imagery on the Internet and TV, and girls responded to their request.

“Girls will do things on webcams to entertain boys,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

A 14-year-old added: “Once they send the picture it gets used against them. The boy will say, ‘Do more or I’ll show everybody the pictures’. Everyone always regrets what they do.”

One in five children received porn through email or on their mobile phone without their consent while a quarter faked their age to access the explicit imagery.

While sixty three per cent said they did not talk about sex frankly at home, 77 per cent revealed their parents had no idea they were watching porn. Furthermore, more than one in five girls would give a thought to having a boob job as a third had waxed or shaved their bikini area.

More than a quarter of boys also worried about the size or shape of their genitals, while 44 per cent of girls were concerned about the size or shape of their breasts. (ANI)

He added the government was bent on crushing ” the vitality of pornography websites to the utmost and chop off the profit chains that porn sites feed on.”

New Delhi, Jan 29 (ANI): In a crackdown on pornography, China has shut down another 55 porn websites, bringing the total number of blocked sites to 1,507.

According to a statement issued by the Special Operation Office for Crackdown on Online Porn and Lewd Content, these 55 websites contained and publicized pornographic and vulgar contents, which violated China’s regulations and laws against public distribution of sexual images, reports the China Daily.

The Government crackdown on porn websites had begun on January 5.

London, January 27 (ANI): Hundreds of appalled surfers want to see Jonathan Ross sacked over his sick joke about sex with an 80-year-old woman on his Radio 2 comeback show.

The BBC radio presenter had landed himself in trouble yet again after he returned to work from his three-month suspension.

Ross was suspended for his part in a radio-prank call to 78-year-old Andrew Sachs, which saw him passing lewd comments while RJ Russell Brand spoke of his prior sexual relationship with the actor’s granddaughter.

Since the joke, angry protesters have flooded Jon Mountfort’s online campaign, sackross.org.uk, urging BBC chiefs to axe the 48-year-old.

“My website gives users an easy way of contacting the BBC Trust who, let’s face it, are the body supposedly with the power to influence the BBC,” the Daily Star quoted Jon, of St Neots, Cambs, as saying.

While Davies insisted that he was far from “referring to a real individual on the programme”, Ross said it had been a “spontaneous, light-hearted remark” and “absolutely no offence was intended”. (ANI)

BBC told to cut down on fat cats’ hefty pay packages

BBC told to cut down on fat cats’ hefty pay packagesLondon, The British government is learnt to have urged the BBC to end the culture of “fat cat” pay for top presenters, else it would risk a cut in its 3.4 billion-pounds-a-year of public funding.

According to official figures, the BBC’s top 50 highest paid executives earn up to 14.3 million pounds a year between them, with 50 managers earning more than 190,000 pounds last year. Director-General Mark Thompson gets a package of 816,000 pounds per annum.

According to timesonline. com, the country’s Culture Secretary Andy Burnham has issued a warning that the seven-figure contracts given to stars such as Jonathan Ross are “undermining licence fee payers’ confidence” in the broadcaster.

Burnham is understood to have told BBC Sir Michael Lyons that the Corporation needed to show “sensitivity and an awareness of where the public are”, added the report.

Ministers believe the recession has fuelled hostility to the elite presenters who are insulated from the economic downturn.

Ross, who is currently on an 18 million-pound three-year contract, was last week suspended without pay for three months over obscene telephone calls made to Andrew Sachs, the Fawlty Towers actor, during a Radio 2 show. The row puts BBC chiefs in an awkward position. They are keen to hang on to Ross, but they cannot renegotiate his salary until his contract comes up for renewal next year.

The Corporation faces a political backlash after the lewd phone call scandal involving Ross and Russell Brand. The row led to Brand quitting the BBC and also claimed the scalp of Lesley Douglas, controller of Radio 2.

Ross (47) is planning to “reinvent” himself during his enforced absence and will have to curb the lewd behaviour that has made him such a controversial figure. “He’ll come back as a different act,” said a source.

Sir Michael Parkinson, the veteran chat show host, attributed Ross’s behaviour to a “fit of madness”. He said: “Jonathan should have more oil in his lamp, frankly – more sense. He’s very good at his job but he’s given to fits of madness now and again and I think he had one on this occasion.”

A source close to Burnham said: “Andy is by instinct a friend of the BBC and would not dream of undermining its operational independence. But if it is going to make a case for the licence fee, the BBC needs to show a certain sensitivity and an awareness of where the public are. He believes it will be harder to argue the BBC’s corner unless it is seen to be tackling the salary culture.” (ANI)
