Paintball guns can easily be converted into the real thing

New York, May 15 (ANI): Toy guns sold in US can easily be transformed into the real killing machines. The popular airsoft or paintball guns which are used to shoot pellets of colour have a similar bottom half as their lethal cousins the AR-15.

The airsoft can be converted to an AR-15, firearms manufacturer Leo Gonnuscio told FoxNews.com after testing the make and model of airsoft guns seized by the Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) .

Gonnuscio said he was surprised to find that he was able to to transform this particular gun to the real thing — and with minimal work, because its bottom half, or receiver, is so similar to an AR-15”s, the report said.

To make the airsoft receiver function just like an AR-15s, all one has to do is drill a hole. And once that”s out of the way, the rest is even easier. The AR-15 receiver is the only part of the semi-automatic rifle that is given a serial number, and is the only part that is regulated.

The cost of buying the Taiwan-made airsoft gun and all the parts needed to convert it to an AR-15 comes to roughly $1,100 — more than the cost of some real AR-15s. But someone who cant clear a background check or has been refused a gun for any other reason could use this method to make his own lethal weapon.

The makeshift gun would likely be able to fire only 15-20 rounds before it stopped working due to the pressure it would have to withstand while firing in an automatic fashion.

Gonnuscio said: It may not last forever, but theyve got a gun to get the job done that they were assigned to do, and nobody knows the wiser.

Meanwhile, the (ATF) is already in the know of the airsofts possible abuse. However, the guns continue to be sold in stores around the country, and it appears to be bowing to critics and reconsidering its stance on the guns” convertibility.

Were having to take a serious look at this, so its just something that were reviewing, and Im hoping well have some information that we can make available to the public certainly very soon, ATF spokesman Drew Wade told FoxNews.com.

Commercial considerations are also responsible for the unregulated sale of these guns, the U.S. is such a big market for these airsoft guns, Gonnuscio said, a foreign manufacture would change the product if its current design were banned here.

There are tons of good uses for these guns: We use them for training, kids do reenacting with them, kids get out there and play just like the old days. So let them have their toys.

Just make sure they”re still toys, he adds as a word of caution. (ANI)

Mel Gibson, Grigorieva were together for ‘3 years’

London, May 11 (ANI): Mel Gibson”s former lover Oksana Grigorieva has declared that their relationship lasted much longer than previously thought – they were actually together for “three years”.

The Lethal Weapon actor announced that he was with the Russian musician last year, shortly after Robyn, his wife of 30 years, filed for divorce.

The couple had a daughter Lucia, in October, but split up in April, and Grigorieva now insists they were actually together since 2006 – after Gibson and his wife legally separated.

“The truth always comes out. We”ve been together for three years – not one year as people have been writing. We were very much in love. He was the biggest love of my life and that”s what Mel always told me,” The Daily Star quoted her as telling Hello! Magazine.

Grigorieva, however, refused to talk about the reasons for the split.

“The reasons I cannot talk about but it will come out at some point.” (ANI)

What women think while having sex

London, Apr 28 (ANI): A Hollywood hunk, ex-lovers, a blue film scene and even what to buy in a grocery store—these are things that women think of while having sex.

Some women have now revealed what really scores with them between the sheets.

Single comedian Shazia Mirza, 34, said that some of her friends revealed that during sex they are mentally writing a to-do list, remembering clothes they have to wash, what they”ve got to buy at Tesco”s or those shoes they love in Selfridges.

And some women even think of men they secretly fantasise of.

“A friend of mine, who really loves her husband, told me that during sex she can”t help thinking about all the men she secretly really desires, like Jeremy Beadle and Jeremy Paxman,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

“I”ve been married twice and had many lovers and to be honest, with past lovers I”ve been so bored in bed, I”ve taken to compiling mental grocery lists and calculating exactly how many shoes are in the wardrobe (82 pairs),” said author Kathy Lette, 51.

“Most wives are taken for granted. But how we”d LIKE to be taken is by a muscular-thighed Adonis with pecs appeal.

“Luckily sex with Johnny Depp is only the flick of a light switch away. Ah, Johnny – a man whose sex appeal is so deadly it should be registered at police headquarters as a lethal weapon.

“Doing the horizontal tango with George Clooney is also amazing – if only he”d been with me at the time!” she added.

Sarah Millican, 33, is in a relationship, and she said: “I never walk out of a film at the cinema. I”m the same with sex. I always think it might get better. To be honest, as long as I”ve got a bag of Maltesers, I”m not going anywhere.” (ANI)

‘Struggling’ Gul’s place in final Pak eleven for ICC T20 in danger

Karachi, Mar.27 (ANI): A dip in personal performance and the return of Mohammed Asif has put Pakistani fast bowler Umar Gul’s place in the final eleven in the upcoming ICC T20 World Championship in danger.

Gul, who had played a major role in Pakistan’s campaign in the first two T20 World Cups in 2007 and 2009, is uncertain to make the cut for the final eleven in the forthcoming tournament, as Pakistan’s 15 man squad includes both Asif and young fast bowler Mohammed Aamer, who has performed brilliantly in the recent past.

With the first two slots filled, it would be very hard for Gul to earn a place in the team.

Gul, who once used the reverse swinging ball as his lethal weapon, seems to have forgotten the art and failed to make any impact during the tour Down Under.

However, Pakistan’s T20 captain Shahid Afridi is not concerned over Gul’s loss of form , and said the pacer would be back to his best after attending a three-week preparatory camp starting in Lahore from March 29.

“I’ve talked to him recently about his form and believe that it’s nothing serious.I’m confident that with some rest that will be followed by a series of training sessions, he should regain his form,” said Afridi, but added that Gul would have to win back his place in the national side.

“The thing is that we might not play with three regular fast bowlers in the Twenty20 World Cup. Say if we go for Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamir, who are our best bowlers at the moment then it would be tough for Gul to find a place in the playing eleven,” The News quoted Afridi, as saying. (ANI)

Afghan blasts kill 12

Two homemade bombs exploding in quick succession have killed 12 people, including 10 civilians, in an increasingly volatile part of north-western Afghanistan.

Police spokesman Abdul Raouf Ahmadi said the first blast hit a civilian vehicle in Badghis province, killing 10 passengers. The second, minutes later nearby, struck a police car, killing two policemen.

The strikes took place on Sunday but were not reported until Monday morning.

Badghis, in the north west of Afghanistan, is one of the northern areas that has seen increasing militant activity as Taliban fighters spread their influence from traditional strongholds in the south and east of the country.

Roadside bombs are by far the militants’ most lethal weapon, usually targeting police or government troops as well as foreign forces. Frequently, civilians are also killed.

Civilian deaths caused by Western or government forces are a source of intense anger in Afghanistan, but the United Nations says most civilian deaths are caused by insurgents and the number killed by troops is declining.

Mullah Abdul Manan, a militant commander in the area, said the two bombs had killed Afghan and foreign troops and denied civilians had been killed.

Tasers can limit injury to police officers and suspects if used properly

Washington, July 4 (ANI): A three-year study released by researchers at the University of South Carolina and funded by the US Department of Justice has determined that conducted electrical devices (CEDs), such as Tasers, limit injury to police officers and suspects if used properly.

The study, one of the largest epidemiological studies to look at injuries from police use of force, comes at a time when more than 10,000 US police agencies now use Tasers as one method to control suspects.

The study also provides valuable understanding of injuries that result from other less lethal devices, such as pepper spray and batons, as well as firearms.

According to Dr. Geoff Alpert, a criminal justice professor, said the study is particularly important for its findings on the use of pepper spray and CEDs, which have generated controversy and been linked to deaths, overuse and abuse.

“We found that the use of pepper spray and CEDs, such as Tasers, reduced the likelihood of injuries to both officers and assailants,” said Dr. Alpert, principal investigator of the study.

Alpert said the study, which included the review of 24,000 cases as well as national data, provides a much-needed picture of police use of force in America.

The team’s findings were based on data from a national survey of law enforcement policies and practices on use of force and statistics from law enforcement agencies in Miami, Florida, Seattle, Washington, Columbia, South Carolina, Austin, Texas and Orlando.

They also interviewed more than 250 officers and citizens.

Their data provide valuable insights on police use of force before and after the use of CEDs.

Alpert said that questions about the safety and misuse of Tasers mirror concerns raised in the 1990s when pepper spray became a popular method used by law enforcement.

“Pepper spray was the ‘new’ less lethal weapon. Now it’s the Taser, and, if used properly, it can be a great tool,” Alpert said. “Often just seeing the laser dot of a CED on them will stop an assailant,” he added.

The study looked at reported cases of death associated with the use of CED. While low in rate, a few resulted from excessive rounds of CED use.

Excessive use and the potential for abuse was the second key finding of the university study.

Alpert said good CED policies and training, monitoring and systems for accountability can remedy and discourage such abuse. (ANI)

Mel Gibson’s wife files for divorce

London, Apr 14 (ANI): Mel Gibson’s wife has filed a divorce petition weeks after the actor was spotted frolicking with a brunette on a beach.

Robyn Gibson, 52, has filed papers to end their 28 years of marriage citing “irreconcilable differences”.

Sources blame the split on Mel’s relationship with a Russian musician called Oksana.

The pair had reportedly become close on the set of his latest film The Edge of Darkness, and were snapped coming out of his trailer together, however, the Oscar winner denies any affair.

The Lethal Weapon star is worth up to 640 million pounds and Robyn will be entitled to half the actor’s earnings during their 28-year marriage, reports the Sun.

Mel also owns a 28-million pound church in Malibu and a 10-million pound island in Fiji.

While Robyn has listed their separation date as “to be confirmed”, Mel has given an exact separation date of August 26, 2006 – less than a month after his infamous DUI arrest.

The couple has seven kids.

In her papers, Robyn has asked for a joint custody of Tom, their younger child as well as spousal support and legal fees.
Mel and Robyn released a statement yesterday, saying: “Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so.” (ANI)
