Latest YouTube hit – water walking!

London, May 16 (ANI): Three athletic young adventurers have produced a video claiming to show ‘one of the most impossible-looking activities that anyone has ever seen’ – walking on water.

Ulf Gartner and his friends Sebastian Vanderwerf and Miguel Delfortrie call it ‘liquid mountaineering’, a new sport that is not only challenging the laws of gravity but is also encouraging thousands of fans to slip on watertight shoes and run as fast as possible into the nearest lake.

Over 2 million people have watched the YouTube video in the past fortnight.

The video shows the men racing in turns into a lake in Portugal. After several false starts they manage up to nine or 10 high-speed tiptoe-like strides before their legs buckle beneath them.

“All you have to do is start running towards the bank of the lake and keep running with top speed. As soon as you touch the water your legs should be going like a sewing machine. You should be just like a stone skimming the surface,” the Times quoted Gartner as saying.

Gartner says that rather than a miracle, you just need ‘good-quality rubber running shoes’.

Even those who think it is a trick agree it would be one of the cleverest hoaxes on the Internet.

“It might be fake but I have no idea how they made it look so real,” one Internet visitor concluded. (ANI)

Nine-year-old plane crash survivor has been told his family is no more

London, May 15 (ANI): The lone survivor of the Libyan plane crash that left 103 people dead, nine-year-old Dutch boy Ruben van Assouw has been informed that he is the only surviving member of his family.

The boy is reportedly coping well under the adverse circumstances.

“We have explained to Ruben exactly what happened,” said a statement from the boy”s aunt and uncle read out to media in Tripoli. “He knows that his parents and his brother are dead.”

“The time ahead will be a difficult period for us,” the statement said. “We hope that the media will respect our privacy,” The Telegraph reports.

There has been an outpouring of support for the little boy who has lost his parents and brother in the crash. The Libyan Organization for Children is going out of its way to ensure that the boy is able to recover from the trauma. He is being treated at the Tripoli Hospital and is recuperating after surgery was performed on his smashed legs.

Earlier Ruben told a Dutch newspaper he was “fine” but could remember nothing of the crash.

“My name is Ruben and I am from Holland,” he told the Telegraaf newspaper in a telephone conversation.

“I am fine, but my legs hurt a lot,” the boy said.

“I am in a hospital,” Ruben said. “I don”t know how I got here, I don”t know anything more. I really want to go home,”

The boy and his family were returning to Tripoli from a South African safari holiday, when they boarded the ill-fated Afriqiyah Airways flight that disintegrated upon landing on Wednesday. (ANI)

New world record set for longest ever football game

London, May 13 (ANI): A new world record has been set for playing the longest ever game of football by a team of enthusiastic players.

Defying torrential rain, wintry temperatures and injuries, 36 footballers played non-stop for a staggering 40 hours 15minutes.

The final score was equally surprising with the Reds beating the Whites 390-247.

Ex-Wales and Arsenal star John Hartson, who is fighting cancer, kicked off the record-breaking soccer match at Hinchingbrooke School, Cambs.

Richard Philp, a former Luton Town star, said: “My legs are still moving, but my feet are like balloons. Some people can”t get their shoes on because their feet have swollen up.”

“We had three players taken to hospital — we survived on guts and adrenaline,” The Sun quoted Philp, as saying.

Organiser Zac Cornish set up the super-tough challenge to raise cash after his father Chris defeated cancer.

So far the event has raised 10,000 pounds, which will be split between Macmillan Cancer Support, the John Hartson Foundation and Sports Connections. (ANI)

Conjoined twins ready to go home after surgery

New Delhi, May 12 (ANI): Formerly conjoined twins, Sita and Gita, who were separated at Delhi”s Batra Hospital earlier in April, are now ready to be sent home.

The twins were separated by a team of 27 doctors comprising of paediatric surgeons, orthopaedists, plastic surgeons and critical care specialists on April 5 in a surgery which took over 14 hours.

“After the surgery, the twins were in intensive care for a few days. They were later on shifted to the wards. Nutritionally, weight-wise, diet-wise, they are progressing very well,” said Dr Sanjeev Bagai, CEO of Batra Hospital and Research Centre.

The doctors at the Batra Hosptial have linked with a local hospital in Patna to keep tabs on the twins, as they will betaken over there after being discharged from the hospital.

“Earlier, it used to be so much trouble holding them. I am elated now. It”s easier to hold them now. Me and my husband hold each of them,” said Nirmala, mother of the twins.

The twins will be brought back to New Delhi later this year for a regular check-up.

Sita and Gita had common intestinal and urinary tracts. Parts of their pelvises, spines, hipbones and legs were also fused.

The surgery involved separating their spinal cords, pelvises and genitals, reproductive and urinary tracts. (ANI)

Heather Mills’ fashion faux pas at London red carpet

London, May 12 (ANI): Heather Mills went for the world premiere of StreetDance 3D in London looking not as trendy as she may have thought.

Sir Paul McCartney”s ex-wife, 42, showed off her legs – and curves – in a clingy playsuit at the premiere, reports the Mirror.

Mills, who teamed the daring outfit with thigh high boots, was more than happy to pose and pout for the cameras on the red carpet outside the Empire cinema in Leicester Square.

British dance troupe Flawless performed on the red carpet, which was enjoyed by hundreds of fans.

The free show marked the group”s film debut, alongside Britain”s Got Talent winners Diversity and George Sampson. (ANI)

Now, boots to fit ”cankles”

Melbourne, May 10 (ANI): A Melbourne-based designer has created boots for people with larger calves and ankles.

Research shows that more than 60 percent of Aussie women aged 15 to 55 have trouble, or know someone who has difficulty, finding boots to fit their legs.

Amanda Bennetts faced the same problem before she began designing boots for “cankles”.

“Originally I thought I was the only one with chunky calves, but when I mentioned it to a few of my friends, they too had the same problem,” the Herald Sun quoted Bennetts, as saying.

She added: “I felt a lot better knowing I wasn”t the only one.”

She started making boots and sold them at markets.

The market stall soon developed into Bennetts Boots, the only wide calf boot specialist Down Under.

These boots are five to 15cm wider than the average boot.

Bennetts said: “We don”t take a common boot, put a strip of elastic in it and call it wide calf.

“After a day on your feet, the elastic hurts and you look like you have big calves.”

Bennetts” boots are made of high-end soft quality leather and are available in a range of colours.

They comprise three calf widths to elongate the leg and full-length zips ensure they are easy to slip on and off.

They also have an anti-smell, anti-sweat lining and extra cushioning in the sole.

Bennetts said: “Fashion is about individuality and expressing yourself through your personal style and every woman deserves exclusive designs, which is why we limit the number of boots we make in every style.” (ANI)

Mum-of-four left bed bound by N-cup boobs

London, May 4 (ANI): A Peruvian mum-of-four is said to have been left bed bound for six months by her massive boobs.

Julia Manihuari, 29, was left unable to move after her chest grew to a gigantic N cup after the birth of her third son seven years ago.

“It was awful. If I tried to get up I would faint because my breasts were so heavy,” the Sun quoted her as saying.

Manihuari, who is a farmer’s wife living in northern Peru, was finally helped when local media paid for her to take a three-day boat trip to the nearest town for medical help.

Doctors diagnosed her as suffering from an extreme form of Bilateral Gynecomastia – an illness where the mammary gland keeps growing.

At the hospital, they had to cut two and half stone of flesh from her boobs fearing they could squash her lungs and kill her, and she emerged with a 34B cup after the six-hour op.

“Before the operation I couldn’t do anything, I just had to live with it, it got so bad that my breasts were touching my legs,” she said.

“I have always had a small build, and the stress on the rest of my body was agony.

“My breasts were growing by the day. I couldn’t move because my boobs and belly were the same size. My breasts became so huge my skin had sores and I had trouble breathing,” she added. (ANI)

Kardashian more relaxed than Dupre during Playboy photoshoot: Photog

New York, April 26 (ANI): Socialite Kim Kardashian was more relaxed during a Playboy photoshoot than Ashley Dupre, says a photographer.

Playboy photographer Steve Wayda also said that Kim, 29, was easier to shoot than Ashley, 24, maybe because of the socialite’s sex tape.

“Kim was much more relaxed right off the bat,” the New York Daily News quoted the master nude portraitist, who recently shot both ladies for Playboy, as saying.

“Maybe that was because of her sex tape.

“Dupre, on the other hand, was guarded. So she was a challenge initially.

“She said, ‘I can’t be shot from that angle – my legs will look too thick …’ She also wasn”t too big on the dominatrix-in-the-dungeon idea at first. But I won her trust,” he added. (ANI)

Rampage accused put on 20yr supervision order

The County Court has placed a man accused of a crime spree in central Victoria on a 20-year supervision order.

Police arrested New South Wales man Steven Westlake, 39, in Castlemaine in November 2008.

In the hours leading up to the arrest, police say Westlake used his car to drive over a man and break his legs. He was also accused of assaulting a Country Fire Authority member and stealing his utility.

Westlake pleaded not guilty to six charges because of his mental condition at the time of the offences.

He faced the County Court in Melbourne yesterday and was placed on a non-custodial supervision order.

The order’s conditions will be be reviewed regularly.

Alice alleged attack ‘like PNG’: Opposition

The Territory Opposition says the alleged attack on a driver who hit a child in Alice Springs this week was the sort of thing that could be expected in places like Papua New Guinea.

Police say the 32-year-old man was driving his ute in suburban Alice Springs when a three year old boy ran onto the road.

Police say the ute hit the toddler and when the man got out to try and help he was set upon by a group of people.

It is alleged they bashed him and then stole his vehicle.

Watch Commander Darrell Kerr said the driver suffered facial, leg and arm injuries and the boy was treated for grazes to the legs.

Some of men were arrested when they returned to the scene in the stolen vehicle.

Police have charged three men with aggravated assault over the alleged bashing.

Two of the men, including the 25-year-old father of the toddler, have been granted bail.

The third man, aged 36, has also been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and has been remanded in custody.

Opposition Leader, Terry Mills says it sends a dangerous message to drivers who might otherwise do the right thing.

“I don’t want to see that in the Northern Territory,” Mr Mills said.

“I don’t want to see that kind of descent into chaos.

“Therefore there must be a strong and very clear message that there’s those who assault someone who stopped need to be dealt with.”

Covell was charged with tripping early in the Sharks win over Parramatta on Saturday.

Man allegedly ‘set upon by group of 20′ after hitting toddler with ute

A man who accidentally hit a small child with his ute has been bashed and had his vehicle stolen.

Police say it appears the 32-year-old man was driving his ute in suburban Alice Springs when a three year old boy ran onto the road.

Police say the car hit the toddler and when the man got out to try and help he was set upon by a group of 20 people, who are relatives of the child.

It is alleged they bashed him and then stole his vehicle.

Watch Commander Darrell Kerr says the police were called to the scene about 7pm.

He said early police investigations suggest the man was travelling on Flynn Drive when the accident happened.

“It appears that a three year old child has run onto the road the driver hasn’t been able to swerve to miss the child,” Senior Sergeant Kerr said.

“So he struck the child and then the relatives of the child, out of anger or whatever, have run over to the driver and he’s been beaten up.

“The child and the driver were taken to hospital. Their injuries are not considered life threatening.”

The driver suffered facial, leg and arm injuries and the boy was treated for grazes to the legs.

Some of men were arrested when they returned to the scene in the stolen vehicle.

Two men, aged 36 and 25, remain in custody.

Cher’s daughter files petition to become man officially

London, March 31(ANI): Singer Cher’s daughter, Chastity, who underwent a sex-change surgery, hopes to officially become a man.

The 41-year-old writer and reality TV star requested the judge to change her gender officially in a court petition.

Also, Chastity’s doctor submitted a declaration confirming the sex-change operation.

“On September 23, 2009, I performed an irreversible surgical procedure for the purpose of altering Chaz Bono’s sex characteristics from female to male,” the Daily Express quoted Dr Michael Brownstein as saying in his affidavit.

Now, the next hearing is set for May 6 to formalise the name and sex change and issue of new birth certificate.

Chastity had said last year: “Gender is between your ears, not between your legs. I’ve felt male as far back as I can remember. As a child it was really clear. I felt like a boy.”

“I’ve struggled a lot getting here. If by being public other people can see this and not have to struggle as much as I did, then I’m happy to do that.” (ANI)

Kelly Brook excited over ‘natural’ new lingerie pics

London, March 27 (ANI): Kelly Brook is happy to unveil her new lingerie range without the digital tweaking.

The English model said she had no qualms to letting her natural pictures get published, insisting she was not absolutely perfect

“I’ve been quite heavily retouched in the past. Lads’ mags were always blowing up my boobs. I didn’t mind if someone wanted to make my boobs look bigger and legs longer. But now it’s unrealistic,” The Mirror quoted her as saying.

“I want to look like myself. I’m not that skinny, or a 10ft Brazilian, and I think women want something more real,” she added.

The star further revealed to Style Magazine that she was initially uncertain to let the snaps be printed: “I was like, ‘Let me have a look at them.’ So I took another look and thought, you know what, I am 30, and not perfect. There are so many unrealistic portrayals of women it would be cool to show what I look like in the raw.” (ANI)

Two Red Arrows jets collide over Crete

Two RAF Red Arrows jets collided above the Greek island of Crete on Tuesday during a training exercise, a Greek Defence Ministry official said.

One pilot was injured after ejecting from his Hawk jet while the other made an emergency landing in Crete and was unhurt.

“The pilot who ejected has broken his legs. He is being transferred to an Athens hospital,” said the official.

He said the display team had been trying out new formations but had no further details.

With their trademark red, white and blue vapour trails, the Red Arrows are a familiar sight at British ceremonial occasions and international air displays. They are expected to appear at the London 2012 Olympics.

Courtney Love speaks about her bust-up with daughter

London, Mar 16 (ANI): Rock musician Courtney Love has revealed that the split between her and her daughter came about because of the teenager punching, biting and scratching her.

Love, 45, said her daughter, Frances Bean, from late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, was placed under the temporary guardianship of her paternal grandmother and an aunt in December last year after the fall out.

The singer was later issued a banning order by a judge, which prevented her from contacting Frances until a further hearing in April this year.

She is adamant to get her daughter back, but she also wants to clarify about the argument that sparked their split.

“I was talking on the phone. Frances came out of my room. She was hysterical. First she was crying at my legs, saying, ‘Why was I born?’ Then she bites and scratches and pulls on my hair,” the Daily Star quoted her as saying.

“She punched me. I grabbed her with both arms. That left a bruise and she took a picture of her bruise,” she added. (ANI)
