Larry King’s wife attempted suicide by overdosing on prescription drugs

London, June 11 (ANI): Talk show host Larry King’s wife has been revealed to have attempted suicide late last month by overdosing on prescription drugs as she battled depression.

According to TMZ.com, an officer with the Provo, Utah police reported entering Shawn King’s residence on May 2, going to a bedroom where paramedics were treating her and seeing “multiple pill bottles, all of which were empty on the bed”.

The police report noted “scriptures, a purse, other various books” and a letter which appeared to be a note left by the victim.

“It is unknown whose writing this letter was in, however wording on the letter led me to believe that (King) had intentionally taken the quantity of pills,” the Telegraph quoted the officer as writing in the report, which is labelled “attempted suicide”.

The report said labels on the bottles indicated multiple drugs including Ambien, Klonopin and Clonazepam, and many of them were empty.

One witness told police that Shawn King “is always depressed, but she had not mentioned anything that she would want to hurt herself or take her own life”. (ANI)

Sir Mick Jagger calls for marijuana to be legalised on Isle of Man

London, May 20 (ANI): Rolling Stones lead singer Sir Mick Jagger has called for cannabis to be legalised on the Isle of Man to gauge whether it prevents drug-related violence.

In an interview on American television, the 66 year-old British rock star suggested a trial scheme should be conducted on the channel island ‘to see what happens’.

The singer, who was convicted of possessing narcotics in the 1960s, urged officials to legalise cannabis only on the island, and only for a limited time, to test whether such a ban would work.

“The whole question of legalising drugs is fraught,” the Telegraph quoted him as telling the Larry King Live show on CNN.

“You usually try these things out in very small places. You know, like you try a new product out in a small kind of society or an island somewhere.

“In England they always try out new mobile phones in the Isle of Man. They”ve got a captive society. So I said, you should try – you should try the legalisation of all drugs on the Isle of Man and see what happens,” he added. (ANI)

Larry King, wife ‘call off divorce’

New York, May 12 (ANI): CNN star Larry King and wife Shawn Southwick have reportedly decided to put their divorce on hold and give their marriage a second chance.

According to TMZ, the news came after Southwick”s sister Shannon Engemann revealed that she and the couple have cleared up the ‘confusion’ that led to accusations she was secretly bedding the 76-year-old talk show host.

“It was just a lot of misunderstanding and jumping to conclusions,” the New York Daily News quoted her as saying.

“Shawn and I spoke, and we”re getting along great. We love each other very much. She”s very clear on everything now,” she added.

She claimed that the couple was ‘doing well’ based on recent conversations.

“I hope they do reconcile,” she added.

Meanwhile, King is expected to check out of his Beverly Hills hotel and move back to his nearby mansion for a trial week with his seventh wife, according to TMZ. (ANI)

MJ burns victim lookalike sparks rumours he”s alive

London, May 11 (ANI): A website has claimed that Michael Jackson is alive and masquerading as a burns victim, astonishing users all over the world.

Internet rumours on YouTube and Facebook also claim the King of Pop is appearing on TV talk shows as Dave Dave, 33, a man who suffered severe facial disfigurement after his father set him on fire.

Dave was born David Rothenberg, in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of six, his father set him on fire over a twisted revenge concerning the child”s custody.

The little boy suffered 90 percent injuries, and was scarred badly, but survived.

His mother, Marie wrote a book on his ordeal, which was then made into a movie. A trip to Jackson”s Neverland ranch was organized for the boy, where the pop star took the boy under his wing.

Dave, now a law student living in Utah, changed his surname to break all ties with his father.

“He befriended me. He took me into his life, which is very rare for Michael to do.

“But he opened up his arms to me and accepted me as a very good friend of his. And throughout the years, he never let me go,” The Sun quoted the boy as saying.

Now Dave, who appeared on the Larry King show to talk about his memories of Jackson on the day of the star”s memorial service last year, is rumoured to be the pop star himself.

The website called michaeljacksonhoaxforum.com, is owned by a 28-year-old and her friend, Mo, who call themselves Michael Jackson Death Hoax Investigators.

“At first we started investigating Michael”s death as it was a gut feeling we both had.

“The media told us two different stories. TMZ.com reported he died six minutes before the doctor pronounced him dead, and CNN kept telling us he was in a coma. What really happened still remains a mystery,” said the website owner.

Lawyer Brian Oxman, who acts as Dave”s spokesman, rubbished the rumours saying that Jackson would be the last man wanting to study law.

“He was so remarkable that people find it difficult to believe he is no longer with us. They long for him to remain a part of our lives.

“Dave Dave is an extraordinary young man. Michael Jackson took care of Dave for many years and asked nothing in return,” he added.

Jackson died aged 50 in June last year. (ANI)

Larry King, wife need more time before divorce decision

London, May 7 (ANI): Larry King and his wife need extra time to decide if they want to legally part ways, and are hence postponing a possible divorce until next week.

The CNN anchorman and country singer Shawn Southwick both cited irreconcilable differences when they filed for divorce last month.

However, the couple apparently has had a change of heart after agreeing to undergo relationship counselling.

King”s lawyer Dennis Wasser confessed that the pair needed an extra two weeks to “discuss and resolve” their issues, but they have yet to reach a conclusion.

“The hold has been continued until the middle of next week. Stay tuned,” the Daily Express quoted Wasser as telling E! Online. (ANI)

Larry King and wife were swingers, claims his ex-wife

New York, Apr 28 (ANI): Larry King and his wife, Shawn Southwick, were swingers, that’s the claim of the talk show host’s former wife Julia Alexander King.

“Larry told me they both knew that each of them had others in their lives,” Julia, his Spouse No. 6 from 1989 to ”92, told Radar Online.

“I never asked him and he never told me who his ”other” was, but he knew Shawn was having an affair with the baseball coach. She practically flaunted it,” she added.

According to her, Larry was allegedly cheating with Shawn”s younger sister, Shannon Engemann, and Shawn was trysting with their sons” baseball coach, Hector Penate, reports The New York Post.

“Larry doesn”t have a mean bone in his body,” said Julia, who keeps in touch with her ex. “He is a wonderful man in every area of his life except marriage. He just doesn”t have a moral compass when it comes to women.” (ANI)

Baseball coach claims he slept with Larry King”s wife

New York, April 21 (ANI): Hector Penate, a former Little League coach to the sons of Larry King, claims to have had a fling with the CNN star”s estranged wife Shawn Southwick.

He added that King didn”t seem to care much about the affair since he was having an affair with Southwick”s sister, Shannon Engemann.

“I still think to this day that Larry is in love with Shawn”s sister,” the New York Post quoted Penate, as telling In Touch mag.

Penate, 31, says he and Southwick, 50, started having sex two-and-a-half weeks after they met in 2007, when he was the baseball coach for the pair”s sons, Chance, 11, and Cannon, 9.

He said: “We had sex in Larry”s bed — a lot.

“I had sex with Shawn while Larry was on TV. Our sex life was real good.”

According to Penate, Southwick wanted to get pregnant with his child.

He said: “She was trying to fertilize her eggs to do that.”

Penate claims Southwick showered him with gifts, including a BMW 7 Series, and even paid his rent.

Moreover, Southwick asked King to co-sign the lease for Penate”s Studio City, Calif., apartment, says Penate.

Penate said: “She controlled him.

“He just sat there and signed it.”

Penate says King didn”t mind his affair with Southwick as the telly host was romancing her sister, Engemann, 45.

Penate said: “He told me one time, ”Have you ever seen Shannon?” After I said that I had never met her, he said, ”Oh, oh — she”s really gorgeous!” ”

However, Southwick has earlier rubbished all reports of an affair with Penate, and Engemann has denied having an affair with King.

King”s rep has kept mum over the issue. (ANI)

Larry King calls a truce with wife Shawn Southwick

London, April 20 (ANI): American TV host Larry King has called for a two-week truce with his seventh wife Shawn Southwick with regard to their divorce.

The couple talked it out with a counsellor and now King’s lawyer Dennis Wasser has said that there is a “50-50” chance of the divorce not taking place.

“Larry and Shawn met with a counselor today. It was decided that there will be no divorce activity for two weeks as several issues need to be discussed and resolved,” The New York Daily News quoted Wasser as saying.

In an interview with People.com, Wasser said that King””s “focus is on the best interest of his children. It””s not clear to me which way he””s going to turn on this issue.”

King and Southwick have two children, Chance, 11, and Cannon, 9.

According to TMZ, the couple filed for separate divorce lawsuits after King was accused of sleeping with Southwick’s 46-year-old sister Shannon Engemann.

But the pair was seen enjoying their son’s baseball game, embracing each other and displaying a similar affection at a Little League game.

According to TMZ, on being asked about reconciliation King said, “you never know.”

Engemann denied having an affair with King in an interview with the New York Daily News.

“I did not have and am not having an affair with Larry. He””s been nothing but sweet to me and my entire family,” she said. “I””ve been blamed for this and it””s just not fair. I love my sister, but I””m not the problem here,” Engemann said. (ANI)

Larry King’s ex-wives ‘hold conventions to dish dirt on him’

New York, April 19 (ANI): American talk show host Larry King’s six ex-wives often hold “conventions” amongst themselves to discuss about him, according to sources.

They recently assembled to talk about his looming divorce with Shawn Southwick, his seventh wife.

“His last wife, Julie, said, ‘I don’t know whether [current wife] Shawn will fit into the group’,” the New York Daily News quoted a friend as saying.

“Shawn is the first one to make it past 10 years. This is uncharted territory for Larry. Not that he’s sweating it. He’s been through so many divorces, he’s like Sully Sullenberger landing a plane on the Hudson,” the friend added. (ANI)

Larry King’s divorce is going ahead as planned, says lawyer

London, Apr 19 (ANI): Larry King’s lawyer has claimed that the TV anchor is certainly going for a divorce with estranged wife Shawn Southwick.

He has denied reports that King is trying to give her marriage with a second chance.

The 76 year old and his country singer wife both filed divorce papers earlier this week citing irreconcilable differences for the break down of their 13-year marriage.

The news came amid allegations Southwick had accused her sister, Shannon Engemann, of embarking on an affair with King.

The former couple attended their son”s baseball match in Beverly Hills, California on Thursday, hugging and chatting throughout the game – prompting speculation they are working through their issues.

However, King”s lawyer insists the divorce is still going ahead as planned, and the couple is heading to therapy sessions for the sake of their two sons, 11-year-old Chance and nine-year-old Cannon.

“My most current information is that the divorce is proceeding. People either go to reconciliation sessions to save their marriage or just to make sure their actions are in the best interest of the children. If I were a betting man, it”s for the latter,” the Daily Express quoted Dennis Wasser as telling People.

In his divorce petition, King is seeking joint custody of the kids, while his wife is asking for primary physical custody of the children, as well as spousal and child support. (ANI)

Larry King, wife to seek counselling…for the kids

New York, April 17 (ANI): American telly host Larry King and estranged wife Shawn Southwick will soon be seeking counselling so that their split has a minimal effect on their kids, it has emerged.

The couple is parents to sons, Chance, 11, and Cannon, 9.

“If it happens, the topic would be the kids,” the New York Daily News quoted an informer as saying about the proposed counselling.

According to TMZ, King, 76, and Southwick, 50, filed divorce papers earlier this week following a huge row over the singer”s suspicion that the CNN star was romancing her sis, Shannon Engemann, 46.

“I believe that there is very little chance for reconciliation in this marriage,” King”s divorce lawyer Dennis Wasser said.

“Don”t assume anything. All you can presume is that his major interest is his children,” King”s spokesman Howard Rubenstein said.

A family friend said: “Their whole marriage has been one big spat. They”re both drama queens. They break up to make up.

“Shawn has been important in keeping him alive. She helped him lose weight and quit smoking.” (ANI)

Regulars at breakfast joint knew of Larry King”s ‘relationship’ with wife’s sis

New York, Apr 17 (ANI): Staff at a breakfast joint, which Larry King used to frequent, knew of his alleged relationship with Shannon— the younger sister of his wife Shawn Southwick.

King has had breakfast at Nate ”n” Al”s Delicatessen in Beverly Hills for years.

And now it has been revealed that employees and regular customers at the outlet knew about their closeness.

“He used to bring Shannon in for breakfast — all the regulars knew about it. No one can believe it took this long to get out,” the New York Post quoted a regular as saying. (ANI)

Gloria Estefan defends decision to invite Obama for political fundraiser

London, April 17 (ANI): Cuban singer Gloria Estefan has said that she took the right decision to invite U.S. President Barack Obama for a fundraiser.

Gloria and her husband Emilio had invited Obama to their Miami beach home in Florida for a political fundraiser to help the Democratic Party, reports The Daily Express.

The Democratic National Committee event at the singer’s house made the locals livid as they were supporting the rival party.

Now, the 52-year-old Grammy winner has said that she does not support any party and that she discussed issues relating to the Cuban community with the now Prez.

“We”re still nonpartisan. I am not affiliated. The bottom line is that if the White House calls and says, ”We”re coming to Miami”, what more of an honour for a Cuban-American immigrant that came here when I was two years old, than to have the President of the United States in my home and to be able to speak to him about some of the things we have been doing?,” Estefan said on Larry King Live.

“I was able to show him pictures of the march that we had, pictures of the Ladies in White in Cuba getting violently beaten by the police and thrown into a bus. I gave him a letter from a (Cuban) martyr of recent times and I was able to talk to him about that, give him letters from the mother of the dead dissident. We had a good talk. Then I introduced him. In my introduction, I said a lot of the things I wanted him to hear. He was standing right by me, as was everyone here at the party. So it was a wonderful night for us,” she added. (ANI)

Larry King, wife ‘trying to save their marriage’

Washington, April 17 (ANI): Larry King and his seventh wife Shawn Southwick are giving their divorce decision a second thought.

TMZ reports that the couple is heading for therapy to save their marriage.

Sources close to the couple tell TMZ that Shawn and Larry both love each other and are ready to work on their relationship but Shawn believes Larry is still with her sister.

Both Larry and Shawn met at their son’s baseball game recently and allegedly connected and expressed their love.

They have agreed to meet a marriage counsellor on Monday, sources added.

That said, no one has withdrawn divorce papers as yet, and also divorce lawyer Robert Kaufman was recently spotted entering King’s mansion.

According to sources, Shawn is still connected to her present lawyer, Joe Mannis. (ANI)

Larry King seeks 8th divorce

US television personality Larry King and his seventh wife have both filed for divorce to end their 13-year marriage.

King’s spokesman Howard Rubenstein says the 76-year-old CNN broadcaster has filed for divorce from Shawn Southwick, 50, with whom he has two children.

“His major concern is the welfare of his children and beyond that he’ll have no further comment about the divorce,” Mr Rubenstein said.

He said minutes after King’s attorneys filed their court papers, lawyers for Southwick, who is a singer, filed divorce documents in Los Angeles.

Both parties are citing irreconcilable differences.

King’s attorney, Dennis Wasser, says the broadcaster wants to “keep this divorce amicable”.

King has been married to seven different women, but this is his eighth divorce because he remarried one of his former spouses and then divorced her again.

The broadcaster hosts Larry King Live on CNN, where he interviews political figures and celebrities, dressed in suspenders that have become his personal trademark.

He often allows viewers to call in with questions for guests.

King is seeking joint custody of their children, while Southwick is seeking primary custody.

Snoop Dogg’s U.K ban lifted

London, March 30(ANI): Snoop Dogg has thanked U.K. immigration officials for helping overturn his visa ban.

The ‘Beautiful’ hitmaker said he was grateful to two senior immigration judges who ruled against border authorities.

“As we speak I”ve been reinstated and I”m on my way back to the U.K. so I wanna give a shout out to all the beautiful people who allowed me to come back,” the Daily Star quoted him as telling U.S host Larry King.

Border officials had arrested the rapper following a brawl at Heathrow Airport in 2006.

Authorities later denied him entry in 2007 branding him a threat, referring to his prior drug and firearms offences.

However, Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Broadus, challenged the decision in court.

His lawyers appealed for repealing the ban emphasizing on his charity and community work as a high school football coach at an Asylum and Immigration Tribunal in February (10).

Now, the tribunal has decided to end the ban. (ANI)

Chris Brown hopes to be back with Rihanna

Washington, September 3 (ANI): Chris Brown, who assaulted his ex girlfriend/singer Rihanna in February, has said that he wants to reunite with her.

“Us being friends for so long and not being able to see her and not speak to her, it’s hard… It’s difficult,” Contactmusic quoted him as telling in an interview with Larry King.

When the veteran newsman asked him if he ever hoped to be back with the ‘Disturbia’ singer, he said: “I’m young, I’m 20, (but) yes.”

He added he was “definitely” still in love with the pop sensation.

Court ordered Brown to stay away from Rihanna for the duration of his five-year probation period after he pleaded guilty of assaulting her, after a pre-Grammy Awards party in Los Angeles on 8 February. (ANI)
