Eight killed in US drone strike in South Waziristan

Islamabad, Aug.27 (ANI): At least eight people were killed and several others injured in a US drone strike South Waziristan’s Kani Goram area on Thursday.

According to sources, three missiles were fired from unmanned Predator aircrafts targeting a house in the region killing eight people on the spot besides injuring many others.

Kani Goram is considered to be a picnic spot and is situated near Ladha, where the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Baitullah Mehsud is said to have been killed in a similar strike earlier this month.

More than 35 missile strikes have killed over 350 people since August 2008, fanning hostility against the United States and the government in Pakistan, where more than 1,700 people have died in extremist bombings in two years. (ANI)

14 suspected Taliban killed, many injured in US drone strike in South Waziristan

Islamabad, July 7 (ANI): At least 14 suspected Taliban insurgents were killed when a US Predator aircraft fired several missiles on a militant hideout in South Waziristan on Tuesday.

According to sources, the US drone fired two missiles at a suspected hide out of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Baitullah Mehsud in Zangra area of Ladha tehsil of the province, killing 14 persons on the spot besides injuring several others.

This is the third such attack in the region in less than a week, where the government has announced an all out military offensive against Mehsud.

More than 35 missile strikes have killed over 350 people since August 2008, fanning hostility against the United States and the government in Pakistan, where more than 1,700 people have died in extremist bombings in two years.(ANI)

Thirteen killed, six others injured in US drone strike in North Waziristan

Peshawar, Apr.4 (ANI): At least thirteen persons were reportedly killed and six others injured in a suspected US drone strike in Datakhel area of Northern Waziristan on Saturday, The Dawn reported.

According to sources, missiles hit a house of a local tribesman in the region killing several people on the spot, including some foreign militants.

“We have information that 13 people were killed including some guests,” an intelligence agency official said.

Officials said that some women and children may also have been killed in the attack.

Earlier, on Wednesday, twelve suspected terrorists were killed in similar drone strike in the Orakzai Agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).

In similar strike,on March 25, seven foreign militants were killed in South Waziristan.

The attack targeted a house of a man named Haji Dost Muhammad in Makeen area near Razmak, 12 kilometer North West of Ladha.

Approximately 300 people have been killed in at least 30 US drone strikes since August 2008, which Islamabad has repeatedly termed ‘counterproductive’ in the ‘War on Terror’.

Despite Pakistan’s continuous demand to halt such missiles hits inside its territory, the United States has made it clear that it would continue its operation on militant hideouts and terror camps in the tribal region along the ungoverned Pakistan-Afghanistan border. (ANI)

Seven killed in US drone attack in S. Waziristan

Wana, Mar 25 (ANI): Seven foreign militants have been killed in a suspected US drone strike in South Waziristan, sources said on Wednesday.

The missile attack targeted a house of a man named Haji Dost Muhammad in Makeen area near Razmak, 12 kilometer north west of Ladha.

The house and a vehicle were also destroyed in the attack, The News reported. (ANI)

Fresh US drone attack kills 16 in South Waziristan

Islamabad, Feb.14 (ANI): In a fresh US predator attack, 16 persons have been reported killed with several others injured in Ladha area of South Waizirstan.

According to The News, two rockets were launched by an unmanned US plane at a house, supposedly belonging to a Taliban commander, in Malik Khel in Ladha destroying it completely and killing 16 persons on the spot.

Bodies of six persons have been recovered from the rubble of the attacked house so far, and the search for more bodies are on.

Eight of the severely injured persons have been admitted to a local hospital, The News reports.

This was the third drone attack inside Pakistan’s territory after the change of authority in the United States and Barack Obama taking over the charge. (ANI)
