Return of the flash-dance

New Delhi, June 5 — It’s official, the 80′s are back in vogue. Everyone loves a bit of sex and glamour and when it comes with a pinch of disaster which the 1980′s encapsulated with the saturated neon and the wedge hairdos, its fashion revelry revisited. While the designers love their flirty affair with the 80s and 90s, they are a little cautious when it comes to everyday wear. “Every era has a time in fashion where it really stands out like no other. The 80′s were experimental and fun. But girls and boys need to be selective. The 80′s fashion era was adventurous and therefore should be attempted with caution. It is definitely not everyday wear,” said Payal Jain, designer. When you think of 80′s you think loud colours, big hair, flamboyant silhouettes and rebellious designs. Who can forget the iconic Cyndi Lauper hairdo or the bigger than ever Madonna hair style and leather jumpsuits. “Whether teased into a high pouf, shaved on one side and long on the other a la Cyndi Lauper or thrown up into a side ponytail, the 1980s were a time of playful experimentation and rebellion,” said Dheeraj Harjani, creative director, After Shock. What is interesting is that not just designer stores but even roadside bazaars are flooded with peg leg pants, cow boy boots, bags with leather fringe, grunge check shirts (remember Kurt Cobain in his famous blue check shirt), saturated neons and kitten heels. “I think peg leg pants are a popular style. They are very flattering and leg lengthening. It gives added height when paired with heels. It’s a safe bet,” added Harjani. Not just with heels you can also team them up with a loose-fitting check shirt and coy boy boots to get that edgy cow-girl look. King of Pop MJ’s thriller wardrobe is big this season. Steal your boyfriend’s jeans and team them up with a loose shirt and layer it with a vest with shoulder pads. You can also add a little bling to it with chains and bracelets and you are all set to rock the party.

With the 80′s, fashion decadence is here. Cooler fabrics, lots of drapes and layers, glamour, sex and adventure is here to shock you! Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

MJ’s ‘Beat It’ lyrics to go under the hammer

London, May 19 (ANI): The handwritten lyrics to Michael Jackson”s ‘Beat It’ are to be auctioned in California next month (Jun10).

The late King of Pop gave his scribbled notes to a producer pal.

“This piece has been in private hands since being written. It”s an incredible piece from the legendary King of Pop and it”s in fine condition,” the Daily Express quoted Marc Kruskol, spokesman for auction house Profiles in History, as saying.

The lyrics by the late singer won”t be the only highlight of the memorabilia auction – the pink satin gown Marilyn Monroe donned in the Diamonds Are a Girl”s Best Friend sequence in the film ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’ is sure to be the main lot. (ANI)

Mum wants MJ’s autopsy photos kept private

London, May 14 (ANI): Late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine has expressed her fear that a series of graphic photos taken during the autopsy of the singer might be leaked to the public.

The images, which were detailed in the coroner’s report of the singer’s death, are in the possession of officials at the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office.

According to the National Enquirer, Katherine, 80, fears the photos will fall into the wrong hands and end up on the Internet or splashed across publications around the world.

“There are genuine fears the pictures could be leaked or that computer hackers could get to them – and the LAPD and District Attorney’s office are taking extreme preventive measures to keep them secure,” the Daily Express quoted a source as saying.

Katherine wants the pictures to be kept under wraps, as she believes the publication of the gruesome shots will be disrespectful to Michael’s memory and have a negative impact on his three young kids.

“Katherine says releasing the photos is morbid and disrespectful to Michael’s memory,” the source said.

“She’s still dealing with Michael’s death and she’s extremely worried about his kids seeing pictures of their dead father.

“Katherine said she hopes and prays that decency will prevail and no one will ever see these photographs,” the source added. (ANI)

Liz Taylor slams MJ doc for gay claim

New York, May 14 (ANI): Elizabeth Taylor blasted Michael Jackson’s doctor, Dr. Arnold Klein, via Twitter for claiming that the late singer had a gay affair.

Earlier this month, Dr. Klein, a longtime friend and physician to Jackson who also treats Taylor, told TMZ that his office manager, Jason Pfeiffer, had a two-month gay affair with the King of Pop, reports The New York Post.

“Dr. Arnie Klein declared on May 2 that he did not betray Michael Jackson by saying publicly that he had a homosexual relationship with someone in Arnie”s office,” Taylor tweeted. “It seems he supplies not only women (Debbie Rowe), but men too … how convenient.”

“Just what we want in our doctors. And then to say he did not betray Michael”s confidence. No wonder he has death threats,” Taylor continued.

“I thought doctors, like priests took an oath of confidentiality. May God have mercy on his soul.”

Klein said he made the gay affair announcement to put an end to rumors that Jackson was a pedophile. (ANI)

Clips featuring MJ kids surface on YouTube

New York, May 13 (ANI): Video clips of late singer Michael Jackson’s kids have surfaced on the web.

Until his death, the King of Pop had kept his children away from any sort of media attention.

However, now at least seven videos of Blanket and Paris have emerged on You Tube.

A source close to the Jackson family confirmed to E! that the clips are authentic.

One clips shows the youngest of the three, 8-year-old Blanket, dancing around with a friend flaunting his lightsaber skills.

Also, Jackson’s daughter Paris features in a couple of clips that were reportedly recorded from an iChat conversation via a Webcam.

The 12-year-old girl is seen saying, “Monkey, please help?,” reports the New York Daily News.

In another clip she is lip-synching and dancing to a rap song reportedly made by Jackson family friend Omer Bhatti. (ANI)

MJ burns victim lookalike sparks rumours he”s alive

London, May 11 (ANI): A website has claimed that Michael Jackson is alive and masquerading as a burns victim, astonishing users all over the world.

Internet rumours on YouTube and Facebook also claim the King of Pop is appearing on TV talk shows as Dave Dave, 33, a man who suffered severe facial disfigurement after his father set him on fire.

Dave was born David Rothenberg, in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of six, his father set him on fire over a twisted revenge concerning the child”s custody.

The little boy suffered 90 percent injuries, and was scarred badly, but survived.

His mother, Marie wrote a book on his ordeal, which was then made into a movie. A trip to Jackson”s Neverland ranch was organized for the boy, where the pop star took the boy under his wing.

Dave, now a law student living in Utah, changed his surname to break all ties with his father.

“He befriended me. He took me into his life, which is very rare for Michael to do.

“But he opened up his arms to me and accepted me as a very good friend of his. And throughout the years, he never let me go,” The Sun quoted the boy as saying.

Now Dave, who appeared on the Larry King show to talk about his memories of Jackson on the day of the star”s memorial service last year, is rumoured to be the pop star himself.

The website called michaeljacksonhoaxforum.com, is owned by a 28-year-old and her friend, Mo, who call themselves Michael Jackson Death Hoax Investigators.

“At first we started investigating Michael”s death as it was a gut feeling we both had.

“The media told us two different stories. TMZ.com reported he died six minutes before the doctor pronounced him dead, and CNN kept telling us he was in a coma. What really happened still remains a mystery,” said the website owner.

Lawyer Brian Oxman, who acts as Dave”s spokesman, rubbished the rumours saying that Jackson would be the last man wanting to study law.

“He was so remarkable that people find it difficult to believe he is no longer with us. They long for him to remain a part of our lives.

“Dave Dave is an extraordinary young man. Michael Jackson took care of Dave for many years and asked nothing in return,” he added.

Jackson died aged 50 in June last year. (ANI)

According to TMZ.com, Oaziaza, who has two sons by ex-husband Jermaine Jackson and another two kids with Randy Jackson, may now move into a nearby condo, belonging to the family.

Cirque du Soleil to base show on MJ”s music

New York, April 21 (ANI): Late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s estate and Canadian entertainment company Cirque du Soleil are planning to produce a touring acrobatics show based on his music.

The “concert-like” arena tour, which is expected to start late next year and visit the New York metropolitan area, will end in 2012 with a permanent production in Las Vegas at a property owned by the MGM Mirage.

A Jackson-inspired nightclub will also open with the Vegas show.

“This will not just be a tribute to Michael’s musical genius, but a live entertainment experience that uses the most advanced technology to push every creative boundary as Michael always did,” the New York Daily News quoted estate layer John Branca as saying in a statement.

“Having attended Cirque du Soleil performances with Michael, I know he was a huge fan,” he stated.

The estate, which supports Jackson’s three children and his mother Katherine Jackson, will own 50 percent of the project and share in the cost of production. The estate also will receive royalty payments.

London, April 19 (ANI): A woman who claimed to be married to Michael Jackson has been denied a slice of the late King of Pop’s estate.

According to TMZ.com, a court has denied Shellie Doreen Smith’ request for spousal support.

Shellie had claimed she exchanged vows with the singer at a low-key marriage ceremony in 1970s at a hotel in New York City and had requested the court to grant her monetary help, reports The Daily Express.

However, her bid for getting a slice from Jackson”s estate was denied in court on April 15 (10). (ANI)

Eldest sister says she helped raise Michael Jackson

New York, Apr 19 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s eldest sister Rebbie has revealed that she helped raise her superstar brother.

When she was a teenager, her mother, Katherine, went back to school, leaving her — the oldest of the nine children — in charge of caring for the Jackson brood.

“I’m very much the big sister. I helped raise a lot of them. I took care of them and administered the disciplinary action,” the New York Post quoted Jackson as saying.

Rebbie revealed that memories of her role as caregiver in the family’s Gary, Ind., home came flooding back to her in the wake of the King of Pop’s death on June 25, 2009.

“When he passed, I thought about him the way he was as a kid,” she said.

She recalled the iconic star’s cherubic smile that first brightened stages as a member of the Jackson 5 and later as a solo artist.

After her brother overdosed on the powerful sedative Propofol, Rebbie, who lives with her husband, Nathaniel Brown, in Las Vegas, cancelled a string of performances.

She spent two and half months in California at her brother’s and mother’s estates, comforting her family and resumed her role as caregiver to Michael’s children, Prince, 13; Paris, 12; and Blanket, 8.

“I have to say, for a while, it was very difficult to listen to anything that Michael’s voice was on. That’s pretty tough to escape. Everywhere you go — food markets, departments stores, TV and radio — they are playing his music,” she said.

And now, almost after a year, Rebbie has said that she still wakes up in the middle of the night haunted by the circumstances surrounding his brother’s death.

His doctor, Conrad Murray, currently awaits trial on manslaughter charges for his role in administering the fatal narcotic and facilitating the legendary singer’s addiction.

“My brother had a problem with drugs, and he was in denial. There were many interventions by the family members, and I was involved in a lot of that. It was such a sad thing and it hurt so bad,” said Rebbie. (ANI)

MJ’s ‘secret’ wife denied share in his property

Washington, April 17 (ANI): According to a court’s ruling, the woman who had claimed that she was Michael Jackson’s wife will not be getting any share in the King of Pop’s estate.

A woman named Shellie Doreen Smith had claimed that she and Jackson had married in the seventies in New York City and had hence requested a part in the property.

Shellie had filed a creditor’s claim with the Jackson estate in December 2009, reports TMZ.

But, as per court documents, Shellie’s request for a share in the pop star’s assets has been denied. (ANI)

Gaudy Jacko portrait for sale

An over-the-top portrait of Michael Jackson is up for auction online.

The 127 by 102-centimetre painting by Aussie artist Brett-Livingstone Strong is being offered on eBay.

Titled The Book, it is reportedly the only painting for which the King of Pop posed. It depicts Jackson in a red velvet jacket, clutching a journal at his Neverland ranch.

“I’ve had it an awful long time,” said toy inventor Marty Abrams, who acquired the painting with partner John Gentilly in 1992 from Japanese businessman Hiromichi Saeki as payment on a debt owed to them.

“With the positive response to his music and the movie about him after his death, we thought it was a good time to sell it and for the world to see it.”

For over 17 years, Abrams kept the painting in storage in a New Jersey warehouse.

It was briefly on display at the Dancy-Power Automotive showroom in Harlem after Jackson’s death last June.

The painting, which also features the fairy character Tinkerbell hovering in the background, is currently hanging inside Abrams’s home in Kings Point, New York.

Abrams said the painting was appraised by Belgo Fine Art Appraisal and Restoration at $US5.3 million ($5.72 million) in 2000.

He hopes it will fetch more than $US3 million in the auction, which is scheduled to end April 17.

MJ fans to fly over court ”for justice” during Murray”s hearing

London, April 1 (ANI): A group of Michael Jackson loyalists is set to charter a plane and fly over LA to “demand justice” for late pop icon as his former personal physician appears in court.

These fans have collected 833pounds to rent an airplane that will carry the banner, “We demand justice for Michael Jackson”, reports the Daily Star.

The plane will fly over L.A. County Superior Court on April 5 as court proceeding begin with Dr. Conrad Murray accused of administering Propofol to MJ minutes before the King of Pop went into cardiac arrest and died last June.

Murray has pleaded not guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter.

According to TMZ.com, MJ devotees will also present 100 roses to the late star”s mum Katherine Jackson to support her through the hearing and have raised cash to gift a locket to the singer”s daughter Paris who will be celebrating her 12th birthday on April 3. (ANI)

Producer Rodney Jerkins likens Lady Gaga to MJ

London, Mar 27 (ANI): Comparing Lady Gaga to Michael Jackson, super-producer Rodney Jerkins has said that the eccentric singer could build a career to rival the late King of Pop”s.

Jerkins worked with the late superstar on his final studio album, 2001”s ‘Invincible’, and produced Gaga”s latest hit single ‘Telephone’.

The music mogul has confessed that he is extremely impressed with the ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker, and is sure that she can go on to become a music legend just like Jackson.

“We haven”t seen an artist like Gaga in a long time – we haven”t seen an artist that really has no fear. I remember Michael Jackson used to tell me he was crucified for doing Thriller, but he had to do what he felt was needed at that time. I”m just happy to be part of history,” the Daily Express quoted him as telling People.

“I”ve always wanted to leave my stamp on music, and to be able to say that I worked with Michael Jackson and now I”m working with Lady Gaga, who”ll probably go down in history as one of the best female entertainers of all time,” added Jerkins. (ANI)

MJ’s dad to file wrongful death suit against Conrad Murray

London, Mar 25 (ANI): Michael Jackson”s father is planning to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the King of Pop”s personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray.

It is alleged that Murray administered the drugs that ultimately killed the ‘Thriller’ star.

Murray has pleaded not guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter after Los Angeles prosecutors charged him with administering the powerful anaesthetic Propofol to Jackson minutes before the singer went into cardiac arrest last June (09) and died.

Now, Joe Jackson wants Murray to be punished for his alleged medical malpractice.

And he has instructed his lawyer Brian Oxman to begin proceedings to file the wrongful death claims in Los Angeles County Superior Court next week.

In an interview with TMZ.com, Oxman said that the Jackson family patriarch is seeking an unspecified amount of punitive damages, economic support, loss of companionship and loss of consortium.

However, the legal notice has angered Murray”s lawyer Ed Chernoff, who is confident any such claim will not be awarded.

“That”s like throwing a bucket of water on a man drowning in the ocean,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying. (ANI)

Janet Jackson used anger at MJ’s death for movie scene

London, Mar 20 (ANI): Janet Jackson channelled her dormant anger over her beloved brother Michael’s death into a furious scene in her new film.

For the scene in Tyler Perry”s new movie’ Why Did I Get Married Too?’, Janet had to smash up furniture with a golf club.

The singer-cum-actress reprises her role as a psychotherapist in the sequel to the 2007 movie ‘Why Did I Get Married?’

And Janet has admitted that she found the emotional scene therapeutic after a tough 2009, which saw her split from longtime boyfriend Jermaine Dupri and loss of the King of Pop.

“You have to dig deep but there was some stuff that was right there for me. Stuff that had just happened, with my brother passing, and also relationships, experiencing exactly that,” the Daily Star quoted her as saying.

‘Syringe that administered fatal drugs to MJ set to be auctioned’

London, March 16 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s family is desperate to stop the syringe, used to inject drugs that killed the singer, from being auctioned, it has emerged.

Lawyers reportedly informed the King of Pop’s siblings Janet and Tito that an unnamed seller has put it up for sale.

It has been speculated that the needle may fetch a price of up to 5million dollars.

The needle is apparently doing rounds in auction houses in Vegas and may be sold off on June 25, marking the first anniversary Jackson’s death.

“This is one of the sickest lots ever put up. The syringe is no longer needed in the inquest or in Murray’s forthcoming trial but the moral implications don’t bear thinking about,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

The insider added: “The guy who has possession of the needle has been in meetings with his legal team, making sure it is legitimate and his to sell. The plan is to flog it for up to 5million dollars in a big Vegas casino but he’s been told he may have to sell it somewhere that doesn’t have ‘reciprocal legal agreements with the United States’, such as Brazil or even Libya.

“The validity of the sale is a matter of interpretation, dependent on whether the DA believes a crime has even been committed.

“Rumours are leaking thick and fast and the Jackson family are aware of the auction plan.

“They are furious and incensed that someone is yet again trying to profit from him. It’s an incredibly distressing time for them.”

The ‘Thriller’ hitmaker’s autopsy result had suggested he died from “lethal levels” of a powerful anaesthetic, propofol.

Jackson’s personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray has been charged for administering the drugs that eventually resulted in his death. (ANI)

Shocking tapes reveal what MJ really thought about his family

London, September 20 (ANI): Michael Jackson had launched a string of verbal attacks on his family in secret taped interviews, it has emerged.

The King of Pop lashed out at his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon in the Jackson 5, calling them lazy moaners and dubbing them, one by one, as dull, a copycat, a womaniser and argumentative.

The singer then went on to criticize sisters La Toya and Janet, and even called mum Katherine “disappointing” in the tapes recorded with the ghost writer of his autobiography Moonwalk, reports News of the World.

And after realising that he may have gone too far in his rants, Jackson snapped: “You can’t print that.”

He reportedly said: “The brothers didn’t give me support. We’d be working on a TV show or video and they’d be sitting around moaning and groaning but I’d be watching and learning. It takes a talent, but some people are lazy and don’t want to develop anything.”

On Tito: “Tito is into the anatomy of how a car is built. He is a grease monkey. He still goes to the hobby shop and buys airplanes and flys them. He loves putting them together – they’re on these plastic things and you glue them. That is so boring.”

On Marlon: “People used to call him ugly and make fun of him – and people would say, ‘Which brother is that one?’. He constantly imitates me on stage. Whatever I do he’ll do right after me. I hate when that happens because he looks too “doo woppy” and so old-fashioned.”

On Jermaine: “Jermaine would be either be looking for girls or going along with the jokes.”

On Jackie: “He approaches everything with so much negativity and doubting.”

On Randy: “He doesn’t listen and is real hard-headed. You say it’s dark – he’ll say it’s daylight. And he has to be macho. I’ll never forget the day we had a meeting with our producer who said you’ve got to stand up on your own. Randy stood up and said: “I’m a man’ – we are all started laughing.”

On his mum, whom he always insisted as “the closest person in his life, a great mother and provider”, he said: “She disappointed me. She did an interview (about him). I don’t like her to talk. It’s none of those people’s business.”

He added, “She wished she would have had all boys. She told my sisters that – and they agreed! That’s how my sisters are – they are prejudiced against other girls.”

On La Toya: “To me she is Mrs Nice and Nasty. I come in her room (and she says), ‘You can’t sit on her couch, sit on the bed or walk on the carpet’, She wants to keep everything fresh.

“If you cough at the table she covers her plate. If you sneeze forget it, she’s in another room. If you clear your throat, you can’t do that while she is eating. And forget about going to the movies. She doesn’t understand what I see in Star Wars, Close Encounters or Jaws.”

On Janet: “Janet is a tomboy. That is why it kills me to see her off and married. We did everything together and were just alike. We write a whole schedule for the day and follow it. It’s a terrible loss.”

On dad Joe: “I would suffer if I had to spend a whole day with him. He is a very jealous father. He isn’t gonna show you love, but anybody that gets closer to us than him he would tell them, ‘Leave my boys alone!’.”

“To tell you the truth, I never have felt close to him. He has always been like a mystery man.” (ANI)

MJ’s brothers film new reality TV show

Washington, September 19 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon have been filming a new reality TV show.

Tito revealed the first episode of ‘The Jackson Dynasty’ was shot in March, three months before the King of Pop died.

“It basically shows the insides of the Jackson brothers, what they are about, what they are about musically, their recording and their personal life as well as their public life, as you guys know it,” Contactmusic quoted him as telling BBC6 Music

“We’ve had cameras follow us our whole entire lives, so that part of it is no problem. I have nothing in my life that I need to hide or whatever so I’m good with it. If anything, they’re gonna see how many girlfriends I have,” he added.

The series, based on the brothers as they prepared for a Jackson 5 reunion tour, will air later this year. (ANI)
