Cirque du Soleil to base show on MJ”s music

New York, April 21 (ANI): Late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s estate and Canadian entertainment company Cirque du Soleil are planning to produce a touring acrobatics show based on his music.

The “concert-like” arena tour, which is expected to start late next year and visit the New York metropolitan area, will end in 2012 with a permanent production in Las Vegas at a property owned by the MGM Mirage.

A Jackson-inspired nightclub will also open with the Vegas show.

“This will not just be a tribute to Michael’s musical genius, but a live entertainment experience that uses the most advanced technology to push every creative boundary as Michael always did,” the New York Daily News quoted estate layer John Branca as saying in a statement.

“Having attended Cirque du Soleil performances with Michael, I know he was a huge fan,” he stated.

The estate, which supports Jackson’s three children and his mother Katherine Jackson, will own 50 percent of the project and share in the cost of production. The estate also will receive royalty payments.

“Our family is thrilled that Cirque du Soleil will pay tribute to my son in such an important way,” Katherine Jackson said in a statement. (ANI)

MJ fans to fly over court ”for justice” during Murray”s hearing

London, April 1 (ANI): A group of Michael Jackson loyalists is set to charter a plane and fly over LA to “demand justice” for late pop icon as his former personal physician appears in court.

These fans have collected 833pounds to rent an airplane that will carry the banner, “We demand justice for Michael Jackson”, reports the Daily Star.

The plane will fly over L.A. County Superior Court on April 5 as court proceeding begin with Dr. Conrad Murray accused of administering Propofol to MJ minutes before the King of Pop went into cardiac arrest and died last June.

Murray has pleaded not guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter.

According to TMZ.com, MJ devotees will also present 100 roses to the late star”s mum Katherine Jackson to support her through the hearing and have raised cash to gift a locket to the singer”s daughter Paris who will be celebrating her 12th birthday on April 3. (ANI)

MJ kids ‘to join Beckham boys at school’

London, Aug 30 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s children will join Beckham boys to step into classrooms for the first time in their lives, it has emerged.

All of Jackson’s three children were home-tutored when he was alive.

However, their grandmother and legal guardian Katherine Jackson’s wants them to join other kids of their age and believes this will help 12-year-old Prince Michael, one year junior Paris and Prince Michael II aged seven.

The Daily Express quoted a family friend as saying: “It’s going to be a culture shock for all three kids at first. But all of Michael’s brothers and sisters agree with Katherine that it’s time they stepped out into the real world.”

The King of Pop had once made plans of opening up his own school for his children, as he feared they would be “treated like freaks” in other schools but the plan could never materialize.

MJ’s children will attend the same 30,000dollar-a-year private school attended by the Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham. The Beckham’s third son, the fopur-year-old Cruz, is expected to join the school’s nursery soon.

The Jackson family friend said: “It is one of the most secure and security-conscious schools in America,” and rubbished all talks of the terrifying prospects of the school to Jackson’s protected children by calling them “totally unfounded” (ANI)

MJ’s skin doctor admits he could be Prince, Paris’ dad

London, Aug 28 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s skin doctor has refused to undergo DNA test to confirm if he fathered the star’s two oldest kids, insisting he’s “well aware” he could be the dad.

Dr. Arnold Klein fuelled rumours he’s the biological father of Prince,12, and Paris, 11, when he appeared on TV in the aftermath of Jackson’s 25 June (09) death, and claimed he wasn’t their dad “to the best of my knowledge”.

Klein fuelled the rumours when he turned up unannounced at a guardianship hearing, where the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker’s mother Katherine was awarded custody of the kids.

Although he admitted he could well be the father, Klein says he has no interest in finding out for sure.

“There was a possibility that the two older kids could be biologically linked to Dr. Klein,” the Daily Express quoted Klein’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan as telling UsMagazine.com.

While talking about Klein’s appearance at the custody hearing, the attorney reveals, “Dr. Klein wanted to assert a request that he had concerns.

“He had an agreement with Michael Jackson that if anything happened to Michael Jackson… Dr. Klein would do what he could to see that they were protected.”

The lawyer reveals his client is refusing to undergo a DNA test, insisting Jackson was their true father, and he has no interest in challenging the court’s decision to grant Katherine Jackson custody.

“It would serve no helpful purpose for the children to be distracted from believing Michael Jackson is not the father in every possibility… It is not something Dr. Klein feels he is interested to establish,” said Kaplan.

“It would serve no purpose other than creating distraction or noise. It is not going to help the children, other than to solve the answered question, which is a selfish motive to see who the ultimate provider of the 13 chromosomes (is),” he added. (ANI)

MJ’s kids ‘set to go to school for the first time’

London, Aug 24 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s three children, who were taught at home until the King Of Pop’s death, may soon join school, it has emerged.

The kids’ guardian, grandmother Katherine Jackson is reportedly “seriously considering” getting them admitted into an elite private school in Los Angeles.

And it could be The Buckley school, as it is near by the Jackson family home in Encino and has tight security, reports the Sun.

Katherine was awarded custody of the children- Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and Blanket, seven- after Jackson died of alleged heart attack on June 25 this year. (ANI)

MJ’s mum may sue his doc for $100m over ‘wrongful death’

London, August 19 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s mother plans to sue the star’s personal doctor with a 100-million dollar “wrongful death” claim.

Katherine Jackson aims to target Dr Conrad Murray who admitted administering the sedative Propofol via an IV drip to help the King of Pop sleep. He now is at the centre of a manslaughter probe.

“The wrongful death action has been floated…no decision has been finalised,” The Sun quoted Jackson family lawyer Burt Levitch as saying.

Miami-based wrongful death lawyer Stewart Greenberg said the medic could end up facing a 100 million dollar payout.

He said: “If Katherine brings the case on behalf of herself and the kids, she only has to show what Michael lost in earnings by his premature death.

“He was only 50 and had plenty of years left in him as a top level entertainer. It could be 100 million dollars, could be more.” (ANI)

MJ’s mum plans to sue his gig promoters

London, August 19 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s mother is reportedly planning to file a lawsuit against the concert promoters of her late son, believing them to be responsible for her son’s death.

Katherine Jackson apparently thinks the music legend was killed by the pressure to perform for the 50-show run in London.

She may also sue the singer’s personal physician Conrad Murray, who is the focus of a manslaughter probe, after he admitted administering the sedative Propofol via an IV drip to help the King of Pop sleep.

“The possibility of a wrongful death action has been floated,” the Daily Star quoted family lawyer Burt Levitch as saying.

“Dr Murray’s name has been floated because he is under investigation,” he added.

A spokesman for concert promoters AEG said: “It would be inappropriate to speculate on any potential litigation.” (ANI)

MJ’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe wants $4M to give up her parental rights

New York, July 14 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe is reportedly ready to give up her parental rights for a payout of four million dollars from her former mother-in-law.

“It’s one final payday,” the New York Post quoted a disgusted Jackson confidant as saying.

Rowe, the biological mother of Jackson’s two elder kids Prince, 12, and Paris, 11, had earlier forfeited her parental rights once in exchange for a lump sum of 8 million dollars, plus 900,000 dollars annually for five years, during her divorce with the ‘Thriller’ hitmaker in 1999.

Rowe resurfaced to reclaim her rights when Jacko was accused of child molestation in 2001, but gave up full custody of the kids in exchange for another four million dollars plus a 900,000-dollar home.

According to a family source, Rowe is again exchanging her restored parental rights with Jackson’s mom, Katherine, for another 4 million dollars.

“This would be it. This takes away any rights she has to challenge custody at any given time,” the source said.

“If something happens to Katherine, [Rowe] can’t challenge the next [guardian], whether that be Diana Ross or someone in the family,” the source added.

Although the family isn’t happy about the mega-payout, they consider it a necessary evil, the source said.

However, lawyers for both Rowe and Katherine Jackson were not available for comment. (ANI)

Jackson’s ‘bullying’ father ‘to be kept away from his kids’

London, July 12 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s mother and his former wife have reportedly drawn a secret pact to ensure that the late star’s kids are kept away from his “bullying” father.

Katherine Jackson and Debbie Rowe are set to fight over the future custody of the kids, with each wanting to bring them up.

But the two were said to have agreed on excluding the King of Pop’s bossy father Joe from having any part in the upbringing of Prince Michael I, 12, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael II (Blanket), 7.

Jackson accused his father of beating him during his childhood and Joe is also widely seen responsible by some for many of the singer’s troubles.

Joe, who has always denied beating either Michael or his siblings, recently said he wants to share custody of the kids with his estranged wife.

But Debbie and Katherine have allegedly joined forces to ensure that does not happen, according to a source close to Debbie’s attorney.

“The last thing she wanted was for those kids to be looked after by Joe and go through what Michael went through,” the Mirror quoted a source as saying.

“When they were together Michael poured out his heart about how much he loathed Joe for what he had done. And Katherine knows it’s best for the children if they can settle it between themselves and keep it all out of courts.

“They can’t stop Joseph seeing the kids at family functions and parties, but they can and will fight to prevent him having any formal role whatsoever in their upbringing,” the source added.

Meanwhile, a custody hearing for temporary guardianship of Jackson’s children has been rescheduled for July 20. (ANI)

Jackson family split delays funeral

Los Angeles, July 10 (DPA) A family split over where to bury Michael Jackson is delaying the funeral of the late King of Pop who died two weeks ago, ABC News reported Thursday.
Mystery has surrounded burial plans since Jackson’s casket was whisked to a secret location following his globally televised memorial service Tuesday.

The ABC report said Jackson’s body was returned to the Forest Lawn memorial home while the family sorts out the burial imbroglio.

Jackson’s brothers are determined to get permission to bury him at his Neverland estate. But his mother, Katherine Jackson, wants to find an alternative resting place that honours Jackson’s wish made after he was acquitted of child molestation charges in 2005, never to return to his home.

Jackson’s brothers have already begun the lengthy process of obtaining permits to bury Jackson at Neverland, according to the report. But local officials said they have not had any contact with the Jackson family regarding the burial.

Jackson’s supporters meanwhile appear to have an uphill battle to get him declared an “American legend” in an official congressional resolution.

House Resolution 600 praises the work and life of Jackson, “honouring an American legend and musical icon” and was proposed by Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democrat from Los Angeles who also spoke at Jackson’s memorial.

But House speaker Nancy Pelosi condemned the idea, saying it would disrespect Jackson by raising the controversies that haunted his later life.

“Michael Jackson was a great, great performer,” Pelosi told reporters at her weekly press conference, explaining that a resolution would be a distraction and “would open up two contrary views” on Jackson’s life.

Pelosi was speaking just days after Representative Peter King, a Republican from Long Island, blasted the media coverage of Jackson and called the performer a “pervert” and a “paedophile”.

Jackson’s daughter Paris pays tearful tribute at memorial service

London, July 8 (ANI): Late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris, made her first public statement as she paid tribute to the superstar by calling him “the best father I could imagine” at his memorial service in Los Angeles.

The emotional tribute by the 11-year-old girl, who Jackson shielded from public view during his life, capped a sombre, spiritual ceremony that celebrated the superstar’s work through his life.

Jackson, who died last month aged 50, once said that his own funeral would be the “greatest show on earth”.

The memorial marked various personal messages by Jackson’s famous friends, but it was his daughter, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, who had for the first time addressed almost one billion people watching around the world.

“Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father I could imagine,” the Telegraph quoted Paris as saying.

Dissolving into tears and turning to lean on her aunt Janet, she added: “I just want to say I love him so much.”

It was the first time the world had heard one of Jackson’s children speak, as the star always tried his best to keep their appearances secret, even having them wear masks or shawls around their faces in public.

Paris, 11, sang along on stage with an all-star cast to Jackson’s songs “We Are The World” and “Heal the world”.

She then took the microphone herself, as she gazed out at the crowd and at the 15,000 pounds bronze and 14-carat gold plated coffin holding her father’s body in front of the stage.

During the service, the little girl sat in the front row with her brothers Prince Michael, 12, and Prince Michael II, seven, who is known as Blanket.(ANI)

Jacko’s exclusion of father from will is not snub, says Jermaine Jackson

Washington, Jul 4 (ANI): Late King of Pop Michael Jackson’s exclusion of his father from his will has not been seen as a snub by the singer’s brother Jermaine, who insists Joe will also benefit from the estate.

Jacko had drawn up a will in 2002 in which he left his entire estate to a family trust, comprising of his mother Katherine and his three children.

There was no mention his father, who Jackson claimed had physically abused him and his siblings as a child.

“Joe’s exclusion doesn’t bother me, because if my mother’s mentioned, my father’s fine,” Contactmusic quoted Jermaine as saying.

“I mean, if my mother’s fine, we’re all fine. But most important, it’s not about money. It’s not about property. We’re a family. We don’t let that get in the way. That’s not important to us. That’s not important,” he added.

Joe and Katherine Jackson wed in 1949 but have been separated for years. However, they never filed for divorce.

Joe lives in Las Vegas, while Katherine resides in the family compound in Encino, California. (ANI)

Jacko wanted to perform O2 gigs for his kids, says friend

London, June 30(ANI): Michael Jackson’s friend Mark Lester has said that one of the reasons the icon had planned to perform ‘This Is It’ concerts was that he wanted his children to see him live on stage.

“He wanted his children to see daddy do what daddy does best, ” The Scotsman quoted him as saying.

He added: “The kids had never seen Michael performing live. This was their opportunity to see him.

“They had watched him on DVDs and on television, but they had never watched him doing his stuff live.

“He wanted that very much for his children to see, and of course for all the fans and everybody else, but the main motivation behind it was for them to see their daddy.”

Mark also said that the three children – Michael Joseph Jackson Junior, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince “Blanket” Michael Jackson II- meant “everything” to the singer.

Lester also dismissed gossips that the icon was under too much strain to do the shows and would not have been able to finish them.

He said: “Michael wouldn’t have taken it on if he had any doubt that he couldn’t have done it.

“He was a perfectionist and if he couldn’t have done it to how he wanted to do it, he wouldn’t have taken it on.”

The former Oliver! child actor also said that he had met Jackson for the last time in March.

“We saw him in March and spent the weekend together – he was fit and healthy, we had fish and chips, his favourite meal whenever he comes to London,” he said. (ANI)

Jacko’s mother gets temporary custody of his kids

New York, June 30 (ANI): Late singer Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine has been given temporary custody of his kids.

The 79-year-old won the temporary guardianship of his three children Prince 12, Paris, 11 and Blanket 7.

She has also asked the judge to appoint her administrator of his estate.

“This is where they belong. We are the parents,” the New York Daily News quoted Joe Jackson as saying.

“We love those kids, we are going to take care of them and give them the education they are supposed to have,” he added.

A hearing on whether the temporary guardianship should be made permanent will be held Aug. 3 in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Katherine’s petition for guardianship of their estate of “unknown” value will also be on heard July 6.

“They have a long established relationship with paternal grandmother and are comfortable in her care,” the filing states.

The Jackson court papers say Michael died “intestate” – or without a will – and asked a judge to put Katherine Jackson in charge. (ANI)

Jacko’s mother to look after his children

London, June 29 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s children are going to stay with their grandmother Katherine Jackson as reports have come that the legend’s ex-wife Debbie Rowe will not fight for their custody if she is allowed more access to them.

The Jackson family who was ready to fight “tooth and nail” with the horse breeder has also softened its stance and agreed to her desire of being allowed to visit the kids more often.

A friend of Rowe has said that she is keen to avoid any situation that will further sadden the children after the loss of their father, by trying not to exercise her legal right against the Jacksons in order to settle them at her horse ranch in Palmdale, 65 miles from Los Angeles, the Daily Express reports.

Rowe’s lawyer asked over the weekend that the Jackson family “be able to say goodbye to their loved one in peace”.

Presently, the three youngsters stay at the Jackson family’s compound in Encino, north-west of Los Angeles with their 79-year-old grand-mother Katherine.

Rowe, a former nurse, got married to the icon in 1996 and parted ways three years later with a huge financial settlement.

She gave birth to Prince Michael, 12 and Paris Katherine, 11, while a surrogate mother conceived Prince Michael II, 7, also known as “Blanket”. (ANI)

Janet Jackson “devastated” by brother Michael’s sudden death

New Delhi, June 27 (ANI): Janet Jackson is “devastated” by the sudden death of brother Michael, who died at the age of 50 on Thursday.

“Janet Jackson is grief-stricken and devastated at the sudden loss of her brother,” her manager Kenneth Crear said in a statement to Access Hollywood.

On Thursday afternoon, many of Michael’s family – including sister LaToya and brother Jermaine – gathered at the UCLA Medical Center after the King of Pop was transported via ambulance from his Holmby Hills home in Los Angeles, reports The China Daily.

The next day, Janet was photographed arriving at Van Nuys airport near Los Angeles, reportedly on her way to join her family.

“She [was] in pre-production on a film,” Crear added.

Michael is survived by siblings Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, La Toya, Marlon, Randy and Janet – along with his parents Joseph Walter “Joe” and Katherine Esther.

He also has three children – Prince Michael Jackson, 12; Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, 11; and Prince Michael Jackson II, 7. (ANI)

Who will get Jacko’s estate?

Washington, June 27 (ANI): King of Pop Michael Jackson’s sudden death at a rented Los Angeles home on Thursday has left those close to him wondering what will happen to his estate.

According to reports, it is not known whether Jackson-who is survived by his parents, his ex-wife Debbie Rowe and his eight siblings-ever wrote a will delineating who would have custody of his children or his estate after his death.

His first wife Lisa-Marie Presley, however, is not expected to lay claim to any part of his estate.

The only thing being said by Jackson’s associates and lawyers is that they believe that the ‘Thriller’ star wanted his children to pass to his mother Katherine.

“I do not know of any kind of will or estate planning that Michael would have made. But I know that he believed that if anything ever happened to him that his mother was a wonderful caretaker,” Fox News quoted Brian Oxman, a Jackson family lawyer, as saying.

Debra Opri, a former Jackson family spokeswoman who represented photographer Larry Birkhead in his successful suit for custody of Birkhead’s child with Anna Nicole Smith, agreed and called Katherine Jackson “a fantastic mother to a very large group”.

She hoped that Jackson’s children would be under Katherine’s care, and that they would be OK.

“For a long time now things have been in place as to who would be raising the kids,” she said.

Jackson, though believed to be 400 million dollars in debt, also held giant assets, including the rights to his own mega-hits and a 50 percent stake in the company that owns the majority of the Beatles’ catalog.

“Whoever does have custody of the children ultimately will have access to whatever remains of his estate,” said Wendy Murphy, a prosecutor and child advocate.

“Katherine, I think, if there is no will, will probably prevail because she’s probably the relative that the courts will see as most appropriate,” Murphy added.

The lawyer, however, added that Katherine’s claims could be put on hold if rumours of her poor health proved true, and the courts determined that she was not fit to care for her grandchildren.

Jackson’s friends, on the other hand, believe that the resolution of this case will not take long, even if the singer had not written a will or left proper instructions for the maintenance of his estate.

“It is always complicated when there is not a will, but I can assure you that Michael Jackson crossed his T’s and dotted his I’s when it came to his children. That means he made sure that there’s something in writing saying who is going to take care of the kids and what was going to be done for them,” Opri said. (ANI)
