Now, ‘Australian Fritzl’ who raped daughter, fathered four kids emerges

Melbourne, September 17 (ANI): Lisa Neville, Australian Community Services Minister, has come under fire after huge number of bungling in the child protection services emerged, including a sex horror case of a man accused of fathering four children with his daughter.

Neville is expected to be faced with calls to resign after revelations of failed attempts by Victoria’s Department of Human Services (DHS) to conduct proper background checks on a known sexual predator before letting a child into his care.

The accused is said to have caged his daughter as a virtual prisoner, raping her almost daily from when she was 11 years old, reports the Herald Sun.

All the four kids bore by the woman, who is now under the care of authorities in a safe house, had health problems when delivered in major hospitals in Melbourne. One of the kids died soon after birth.

Their birth certificates do not hold the name of their fathers, prompting alarms as to why questions were not asked at the time.

The man denied the allegations, but was charged after DNA tests allegedly proved he was the father of her children. He is due to appear in court in November.

Comparisons have been drawn between the case and that of Josef Fritzl, the Austrian man who held his daughter as a sex slave for 24 years and fathered seven children with her.

Minister Lisa Neville told ABC Radio: “I was extremely appalled to see the allegations.”

“They are only allegations and are before the courts at the moment and we need to be very careful about how much detail we go into,” Neville said.

“I became aware of this from the media today and I don’t know what, or if, (there has been) any involvement of the police, the department or other agencies … over the past 30 years.

“This will be a priority to look into,” she added. (ANI)

US Fritzl describes his crime as “the most powerful heart-warming story”

London, Aug 29 (ANI): Phillip Garrido, the “American Fritzl”, who held a girl captive for 18 years and fathered two children with her, claimed the kidnap and rape ordeal of Jaycee Lee Dugard would be revealed as “a powerful, heart-warming story”.

The convicted rapist, who snatched Jaycee at age of 11, added: “You’re going to be really impressed – it’s going to make world news.”

The 58-year-old was speaking to a Californian TV station instead of a lawyer using the one phone call to which he was legally entitled, reports The Daily Express.

Phillip was arrested after police discovered he had held kidnap victim Jaycee in a compound at the back of his Californian home since 1991.

It is believed she had two daughters with Garrido and that the girls, aged 11 and 15, have never been to school or visited a doctor.

Despite the appalling nature of the crimes, Garrido, who has been charged with kidnapping, rape, conspiracy and committing lewd acts with a minor, did admit what he had done was “disgusting”.

However, he claimed the world will be “impressed” when it hears his side of the story.

He said: “Wait until you hear the story of what took place in this house. You’re going to be absolutely impressed. It’s a disgusting thing that took place with me at the beginning but I turned my life completely around.

“Having those two children – those two girls. They slept in my arms every single night and I never touched them.”

He went on: “You are going to find the most powerful story coming from the witness, the victim – you wait.

“If you take this a step at a time, you’re going to fall over backwards and in the end, you’re going to find the most powerful heart-warming story.”

The arrest of Phillip has brought to mind the case of Josef Fritzl who was arrested in 2008 on similar charges. Both men were accused of keeping young girls prisoner and fathering children by them against their will. (ANI)

Fury over promotion of ‘dungeon dad’ Fritzl’s book as Father’s Day gift

London, June 19 (ANI): WH Smith, the British newspaper, books and stationery retailer, has come under fire for promoting a book on Austrian incest fiend Josef Fritzl as a Father’s Day gift.

The Crimes of Josef Fritzl, written by journalists Stefanie Marsh and Bojan Pancevski, details how the 74-year-old kept daughter Elisabeth captive for 24 years in a rat-infested cellar at Amstetten, Austria.

Fritzl, now serving life, raped her constantly and she had seven children by him.

Shocked shoppers could not believe when they saw the tome on a “Top 50 Books for Dad” display which also proclaimed “Dads Are Heroes”, reports The Sun.

Matt James, who was searching for a gift at the WH Smith branch in South London, said: “Are they mad? He’s probably the worst dad in the world. What he did to his children was horrible.”

The book promoted alongside more traditional gifts written by the likes of Dan Brown and Jeremy Clarkson.

Dad Ian Bennett, 44, said: “I’d wonder what they were trying to tell me. What person in their right mind would want to be reminded of that monster on Father’s Day?”

Rowena Langlois, 50, said: “It seems like some kind of sick joke. Has anyone in the company actually sat down and thought about this?”

WH Smith called the blunder “a mistake by one store”.

A spokeswoman said: “Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It is not national policy. We will rectify this immediately.” (ANI)

DNA test confirms ‘Argentine Fritzl’ fathered seven kids with daughter

London, May 28 (ANI): Armando Lucero, the 67-year-old Argentine man accused of raping his three daughters over two decades, has fathered seven children with one of them, DNA tests have confirmed

Lucero was placed in a maximum security prison on May 11 for “aggravated and repeated sexual abuse”. It is believed that he raped the three girls from early childhood.

The tragic drama unfolded in the city of Mendoza, about 620 miles west of Buenos Aires, reports The Telegraph.

Police officials are currently waiting for the results of psychological exams of Lucero, who has come to be known as the “Monster of Mendoza” in a case chillingly drawing similarities to the Austrian incest case of Josef Fritzl.

In that case, Fritzl, 73, was sentenced in March to life in prison for imprisoning his daughter in a secret dungeon for 24 years, and for the death of one of the seven children he had with her.

Lucero faces a maximum penalty of 50 years in prison. The woman at the center of the drama, now 35, fled her family home to obtain protection from the local authorities.

The woman decided to break her silence, she said, because her father threatened to sexually abuse one of her daughters. (ANI)

How the brain processes speech

London, May 27 (ANI): A review of human and non-human primate studies suggests that scientists are very close to forming a conclusive theory about the brain processes speech and language.

Dr. Josef Rauschecker of Georgetown University and his co-author Sophie Scott, a neuroscientist at University College, London, say that both human and animal studies have confirmed that speech is processed in the brain along two parallel pathways, each of which run from lower- to higher-functioning neural regions.

The authors describe these pathways as the “what” and “where” streams, which are similar to how the brain processes sight, but are located in different regions.

Both pathways begin with the processing of signals in the auditory cortex, located inside a deep fissure on the side of the brain underneath the temples – the so-called “temporal lobe”.

Information processed by the “what” pathway then flows forward along the outside of the temporal lobe, and the job of that pathway is to recognize complex auditory signals, which include communication sounds and their meaning (semantics).

The “where” pathway is mostly in the parietal lobe, above the temporal lobe, and it processes spatial aspects of a sound – its location and its motion in space – but is also involved in providing feedback during the act of speaking.

Rauschecker says that auditory perception – the processing and interpretation of sound information – is tied to anatomical structures.

“Sound as a whole enters the ear canal and is first broken down into single tone frequencies, then higher-up neurons respond only to more complex sounds, including those used in the recognition of speech, as the neural representation of the sound moves through the various brain regions,” he says.

“In both species, we are using species-specific communication sounds for stimulation, such as speech in humans and rhesus-specific calls in rhesus monkeys. We find that the structure of these communication sounds is similar across species,” he adds.

Rauschecker believes that the findings of this research may ultimately yield some valuable insights into disorders that involve problems in comprehending auditory signals, such as autism and schizophrenia.

“Understanding speech is one of the major problems seen in autism, and a person with schizophrenia hears sounds that are just hallucinations. Eventually, this area of research will lead us to better treatment for these issues,” Rauschecker says.

The study is published in the June issue of Nature Neuroscience. (ANI)

Tenants could hear Elisabeth Fritzl’s cries, claims book

Melbourne, May 19 (ANI): Austrian dungeon victim Elisabeth Fritzl’s cries for help during her 24-year ordeal could be “very audible” to those living above, reveals a new book.

Elisabeth, now 42, was held captive and sexually abused by her father, Josef, for 24 years in a rat-infested dungeon.

It has been famously believed that the dungeon in Amstetten, where Josef kept his daughter and three of the seven children he fathered with her, must have been soundproofed for the captives to have gone unnoticed, The Times reported.

However, according to The Crimes of Josef Fritzl: Uncovering the Truth, by Stefanie Marsh and Bojan Pancevski, a sound engineer who tested the cellar’s acoustics found that the reality was quite the opposite, reports News.com.au.

As per a report by Peter Kopecky knocking and cries for help from the cellar would have been “very audible” to tenants living there, in flats rented out by Fritzl.

“The noises that the tenants thought they had heard coming from the cellar beneath them had been real: the thumping, the moaning, the strange clanking noises emanating from deep underground,” the book states according to The Times.

“But nobody had thought to investigate,” it added.

Fritzl was jailed for life after admitting raping Elisabeth more than 3,000 times and fathering seven children – one of whom he murdered hours after it was born. (ANI)

Novel genetic risk factors for kidney disease identified

London, May 11 (ANI): Scientists have found three genes with common mutations that are associated with altered kidney disease risk.

One of the discovered genes, the UMOD gene, produces Tamm-Horsfall protein, the most common protein in the urine of healthy individuals, which was recently found to be linked with chronic kidney disease risk.

Chronic kidney disease is characterized by reduced kidney function or kidney damage. Its progression may lead to kidney failure, and the need for dialysis or transplantation.

It also increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases, mortality and medication side effects.

For the study, the researchers conducted genome-wide association studies of more than 20,000 people enrolled in four large population-based studies of cardiovascular disease risk factors, and even replicated their findings in another 20,000 participants.

Out of more than 2,500,000 genetic variants that were evaluated for each study participant, only three genes, UMOD, SHROOM3, and STC1 were found to be novel risk genes for reduced kidney function and chronic kidney disease.

“Previous research showed that rare mutations in the UMOD gene cause hereditary forms of severe kidney disease. Our research indicates that a common genetic variant with a frequency of 18 percent in populations of European ancestry is associated with about 25 percent lower risk of chronic kidney disease,” Nature magazine quoted Dr. Anna Kottgen, a researcher at Johns Hopkins and lead author of the study, as saying.

“We have known for a long time that a higher level of proteins, such as albumin, which aren’t usually present in urine, is a risk factor for kidney disease and its progression. The UMOD finding suggests that Tamm-Horsfall protein, which is thought to be a normal part of the urine, deserves attention since its genetic variation relates to risk,” said Dr. Josef Coresh, professor at Johns Hopkins.

He added: “For all three genes the findings are novel and suggest brand new areas for investigation including the need for developing methods to measure levels in urine or blood.”

The findings have been published in the journal Nature Genetics. (ANI)

American photographer Robert Adams wins Hasselblad Award

Stockholm – American photographer Robert Adams, known for his black and white photographs of the American West, was Wednesday named winner of the 2009 Hasselblad Award. Adams received the award worth 500,000 kronor (60,000 dollars) along with a diploma and a gold medal on Tuesday in San Francisco, Bo Myhrman, managing director of the Hasselblad Foundation that funds the prize, said.

A five-member international panel cited Adams as “one of the most important and influential photographers of the last 40 years.”

The jury said that “as photography has altered and fragmented, he (Adams) has refined and reaffirmed its inherent language, adapting the legacies of 19th century and modernist photography to his own very singular purpose. Precise and undramatic.”

His work was “a formidable document, reflecting broader, global concerns about the environment,” the jury said.

Adams was born in 1937 in Orange, New Jerseyin the US. He has for many years lived and worked in Oregon, in the north-west of the country.

His numerous awards include the 1994 John D and Catherine T MacArthur Foundation Award and the Deutsche Boerse Photography Prize (2006).

He has published several books including The New West (1974), From the Missouri West (1980), and Turning Back (2005).

An exhibition on his work was to open November 6 at the Hasselblad Centre in the Swedish west coast city of Gothenburg.

The Hasselblad Centre and award were named after Victor Hasselblad (1906-1978) who invented the Hasselblad cameras that have been used in NASA space programmes and by a number of famed photographers.

Former Hasselblad Award winners include Robert Frank, Josef Koudelka, Richard Avedon, Sebastiao Salgado, Hiroshi Hamaya, Susan Meiselas, Ernst Haas, Irving Penn, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams, and Lennart Nilsson. In 2007 it was awarded to Nan Goldin of the United States and last year to Mexican photographer Graciela Iturbide.

Life for Russian sex slave who killed stepdad after watching Fritzl’s TV trial

London, Apr 8 (ANI): A tormented girl kept as a sex slave by her stepfather for a decade shot him in the head after watching Austrian incest fiend Josef Fritzl’s trial on TV.

Olga Androva, 26, who bore Nikolay Kirkov three children, killed him with a rifle after watching Fritzl’s daughter, Elisabeth, giving evidence about her 24 years of abuse.

Olga was being held as a slave at the family home.

Now she faces life behind bars for the revenge shooting.

Nikolay, from Duminichi, central Russia, died instantly from the gunshot wound.

“Suddenly Olga realised that what was happening to her was not normal, not something she had to endure,” The Daily Star quoted a family friend, as saying.
The friend added: “If Olga goes to prison it would be a better future than the one her step-father had planned for her. So whatever happens, she will accept it.”

German leader arrives in Afghanistan to visit troops

Kunduz, Germany – German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived Monday on a surprise visit to Afghanistan, her second to the country, to visit German soldiers.

Merkel, accompanied by Defence Minister Franz-Josef Jung, landed at a military base in the northern Afghan city of Kunduz, where 700 German troops are stationed.

A number of attacks occurred near the base shortly before Merkel’s visit. Shots were fired at German soldiers overnight as they were guarding a bridge construction project 7 kilometres from the camp. None was hurt.

Also at the weekend, a roadside bomb hit a German patrol in Kunduz. No one was injured, but an armoured vehicle was damaged.

The visit, Merkel’s first to Afghanistan since 2007, was kept secret until her arrival for security reasons.

It came days after a NATO summit in Germany and France at which the alliance agreed on a new strategy for Afghanistan, deciding to concentrate more on reconstruction rather than its fight against the Taliban.

Germany plans to raise the number of its soldiers deployed in Afghanistan from 3,800 to 4,400 in the coming months leading up to presidential elections in August

My dad was “sort of husband”, bro “sort of lover”: Italian Fritzl’s daughter

London, Apr 1 (ANI): The daughter of “Italian Josef Fritzl” has for the first time spoken of her trauma of how she was allegedly molested by her father from the age of nine and then forced to have full sex with her brother when she turned 16.

Michele Mongelli, 64, a scrap metal dealer, and one of his sons, Giuseppe, 41, have been arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual abuse and face up to 20 years in jail if convicted.

The woman, now 34, alleged that her father was “a sort of husband” and her brother “a sort of lover”.
“When I was 16 years old my brother took my virginity,” The Telegraph quoted her, as telling during a three-hour police interview in Turin.

The two men fought over her “as one would argue over a prostitute”, she claimed.

She added that she was treated like a slave and was forced to sleep near her father’s bed, so that she was always “within reach”.

At 13 she stopped going to school and spent most of her time in a darkened room packed full of cuddly toys, she revealed.

According to the country’s police, the older man “groomed” his son as a sexual predator, and that Giuseppe went on to sexually abuse his own daughters, now aged six, eight, 12 and 20.

The case draws many similarities to Austrian incest case of Josef Fritzl, who raped her daughter Elisabeth for 24 years and fathered seven kids with her. (ANI)

‘Remorseful’ Fritzl wanted to make life ‘pleasant’ for dungeon family

London, Mar 28 (ANI): In his first interview from the prison cell, Austrian incest fiend Josef Fritzl has claimed that he tried to make life “as pleasant as possible” for the daughter he raped for more than two decades and her kids.

The 73-year-old held Elisabeth in a secret dungeon for 24 years.

Fritzl was jailed for life last week after admitting raping Elisabeth more than 3,000 times and fathering seven children – one of whom he murdered hours after it was born.

Rudolf Mayer, who defended Fritzl, told the Austrian weekly magazine, News, that the murderer and rapist has realised the enormity of his crimes, and is deeply remorseful.

“I tried to make life in the cellar as pleasant as possible for my second family – and in the course of the years, a partnership between my daughter and myself,” The Telegraph quoted Fritzl, as telling Mayer.

Mayer added that the turning point in the brief trial came when Elizabeth secretly entered the St Poelten courtroom to confront her father while her 11 hours of video testimony was being shown.

The following day he entered court and changed his pleas to guilty on all charges.

“I noticed that she was here, in the courtroom. I finally turned to the gallery and looked and saw her myself. I was suddenly so ashamed,” Fritzl told the lawyer.

“I could hardly stand to hear what she was saying, I wanted the severest punishment … I understood finally the suffering I caused to my family,” he added. (ANI)

Foreign Policy magazine ranks Zardari fifth biggest loser in World

Washington, Mar.23 (ANI): The famous Foreign Policy magazine has ranked Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari as the fifth biggest loser in the world.

“Zardari was known to be a bad guy long before he became Pakistan’s president. Many of the closest friends of his late wife, Benazir Bhutto, could not stand him. Now, as it turns out, neither can most of the Pakistani people,” the magazine stated.

According to the magazine, Zardari’s giving in to the demands of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s of reinstating the judiciary and particularly former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has made him weaker.

“He’s on the ropes, his opposition is gaining strength, and meanwhile fraught, dangerous, complex Pakistan is hardly being governed at all,” the magazine said.

Other biggest losers in the list are US Democratic Senator, Chris Dodd at number four, US swindler Bernie Madoff at number three, and the Roman Catholic Pope on the second spot for his ‘out of touch with the real world’ view.

The magazine has termed Pope’s papacy as a ‘disaster’, The News reports.

Austrian businessman, Josef Fritzl has been ranked the number one loser.

Fritzl, 73, is currently facing trial for putting his own daughter in a dungeon beneath his house and raping her for over 24 years continuously.

The list also has British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on number ten, and Israeli politician Benjamin Netahanyahu on the ninth spot. (ANI)

‘British Fritzl’ kept 15-year-old as his sex slave

London, Mar 22 (ANI): A 36-year-old man, dubbed the “English Fritzl”, chained a 15-year-old schoolgirl to his caravan and kept her as his personal sex slave, it has emerged.

Scrap dealer David Cooper even forced her to take part in orgies.

He put the girl through a four-month ordeal of abuse as her mum searched for her.

Cooper forced the teenage girl to indulge in group sex with him, his girlfriend Kerry Hobson, 28, and another man, then watched as his lover shaved off the schoolgirl’s pubic hair.

It was when the teen tried to flee that he tied her to a concrete block beside his gipsy caravan with a motorbike chain.

Her ordeal ended when police raided the van on a remote site near Bridlington, East Yorks, looking for drugs and found the girl.

Cooper now has been jailed for nine years at Hull Crown Court after admitting eight specimen charges of sexual activity with a girl under 16 and one of child cruelty.

Hobson was jailed for three-and-a-half years, reports The Daily Star.

Passing sentence, Judge Michael Mettyear told Cooper: “You treated this girl like your own personal sex toy.”

Last night the girl’s mum said: “He is an English Josef Fritzl – every parent’s worst nightmare.”

The case draws similarity to Fritzl case, where the Austrian man caged his daughter in a rat-infested dungeon for 24 years and fathered seven children by her, six of whom survived.

Josef is now in jail serving life sentence. (ANI)

‘Fritzl’s modern prison includes gym, provides choir and tennis classes’

London, Mar 22 (ANI): Austrian incest fiend Josef Fritzl is expected to chose a former nunnery converted into a comfortable modern prison as the place in which he will serve his life sentence.

The 74-year-old has been jailed for murder, rape, enslavement, coercion and incest after caging his daughter in a rat-infested dungeon for 24 years and fathering seven children by her, six of whom survived.

Under Austrian law, Fritzl is free to choose from three prisons that offer special sections for “psychologically abnormal” convicts.

According to his lawyer, Rudolf Mayer, he will select Garsten, reports The Times.

In the Garsten, a former Benedictine convent about 30 minutes’ drive from the house in the provincial town of Amstetten, where he held his daughter Elisabeth prisoner from the age of 18, Fritzl would be able to improve his English or study other foreign languages.

At the prison, he will also be trained for choir singing, or training in a gym.

Also, he will be offered a wide variety of hobbies and entertainment, including tennis, darts and art classes.

The prison, set in woodland in the foothills of the Alps and considered one of the best in Austria, provides inmates with the light and fresh air that Fritzl’s victims were deprived of in their dank cellar. (ANI)

Dungeon dad under suicide watch in prison

London, Mar 21 (ANI): Austrian incest fiend Josef Fritzl has spent the first night of his life sentence in jail with a cellmate who is on suicide watch amid fears for his mental health.

Fritzl was found guilty for locking up and raping his daughter in a cellar over 24 years, fathering seven children with her and causing the death of his own infant son.

At the start of the four-day trial, Fritzl pleaded not guilty for the boy’s murder and imprisonment, however, after the testimony of his daughter Elisabeth, he changed his plea to guilty on all counts of the indictment.

According to officials, the 74-year-old won’t be left in a single cell, at least for the near future, reports Sky News.

Fritzl’s next stop will be Austria’s top secure mental institution for sex offenders.

He could spend up to six months at the Mittersteig prison hospital in Vienna, where he will have access to facilities including television and newspapers.

From there, Fritzl will join a cellmate in either Graz, Garsten or Stein.

However, he is likely to be on suicide watch for the rest of his life behind bars. (ANI)

Fritzl’s ‘House of Horrors’ to be snapped by local council to curb ‘murder tourism’

London, Mar 21 (ANI): Local council in Amstetten, Austria, is reportedly planning to buy the “House of Horrors”- the three-storey house where Josef Fritzl kept his daughter Elisabeth as a sex slave for 24 long years.

The move is being made to prevent the house from being turned into a ghoulish tourist attraction, it has emerged.

Currently, the house in Ybbstrasse where Fritzl raped his daughter more than 3,000 times is being guarded by police.

However, following Fritzl’s life sentence the council is planning to do something with the sprawling 66-room property.

Fritzl has been declared bankrupt, implying his creditors are likely to demand the house is sold to help pay them off.

But the local council and police in Amstetten are well aware that if the house was sold on the open market there is a risk it could be turned into a “house of horrors” museum by a private buyer.

Amstetten has seen an influx of “murder tourism” since Fritzl’s arrest last year, and the dungeon, which has only been seen by a handful of police and lawyers, has the potential to become a huge money-spinner.

“The fate of the house has not yet been decided. But we are determined that whatever happens, it will never become a commercial venture offering guided tours of the cellar,” The Telegraph quoted a spokesman for the council, as saying.

For the council, one likely option is to buy the property with a compulsory purchase order and demolish the bunker or fill it with concrete before eventually selling on the property or even demolishing it entirely.

The mayor of Amstetten, Herbert Katzengruber, said: “A dark chapter of our town’s history has finally been closed. The people of Amstetten now want to be left in peace.” (ANI)

Dungeon dad to be probed over string of unsolved murders

London, Mar 19 (ANI): Dungeon dad Josef Fritzl will be questioned over a string of unsolved murders, as police now want to uncover the details of his evil crimes in the last forty years.

The Austrian engineer is being suspected for at least four murders as well as missing persons’ cases stretching back more than four decades, in which three of the victims were teenage girls.

One of the most striking cases is of Martina Posch, who was 17 when she was raped and strangled on the shores of the Mondsee lake in November 1986.

The girl was strikingly similar to Elisabeth, was a similar age, and her naked body was found close to a guest house which Fritzl and his wife Rosemarie owned and ran at the time.

According to reports, Fritzl’s earliest possible murder victim is Anna Neumayer, 17, who was murdered with a bolt gun in August 1966, and whose body was discovered in a field.

She had disappeared on her way to Wels, less than 20 miles from where Fritzl was working at the time, reports the Telegraph.

The police are also probing possible links with the disappearance of Julia Kuehrer, 16, who was last seen in June 2006 in Pulkau, 60 miles from Fritzl’s home.

And one of his most recent possible victims is Gabriele Superkova, 20, a prostitute who was murdered in August 2007.

Her body was found at the Moldaustausee Lake, near the Austrian-Czech border, at a time when Fritzl was on holiday there.

Now investigators are sure that Fritzl had been a habitual sex offender for more than 30 years before he turned his attentions to his daughter.

Fritzl was convicted of rape in 1967, but was released within a year despite being sentenced to just 18 months.

He later captured his daughter Elisabeth in a purpose-built dungeon beneath his home, and kept her as a sex slave for 24 years.

And after the secret of his “cellar family” was disclosed in April 2008, other women have come forward to say he attacked them.

Fritzl went to frequent trips within Austria and abroad while working as an engineer for several companies, and spent long periods in India and Luxembourg.

He was also a regular sex tourist to Thailand, raising the possibility of other victims scattered around the world.

While Fritzl will be asked to admit to any other rapes and murders he has committed, its quite unlikely that he will give a full confession of the true extent of his abominable crimes. (ANI)

Dungeon dad pleaded guilty for the fear of being eaten by jail cannibal

London, Mar 19 (ANI): Dungeon dad Josef Fritzl pleaded guilty to all the charges filed against him because he feared being eaten by a notorious cannibal, and not because he realised his “sick behaviour” after watching his abused daughter’s video testimony.
After initially denying charges of murder and slavery, the 73-year-old engineer confessed to all the charges because he had made a deal with prosecutors to slip away to a cushy prison cell.

The real reason behind Fritzl’s unexpected change of heart was that he feared being turned into a “Fritzl Schnitzel” by the infamous cannibal Robert Ackermann.

Lawyers had warned him that he would be sent to Austria’s Goellersdorf asylum, where Hannibal Lecter-style killer Ackermann has openly bragged about slicing him up.

Fritzl had read in newspapers how Ackermann, who detests paedophiles and rapists, vowed to cook him alive.

After seeing that the jurors were so repulsed by 42-year-old Elisabeth’s graphic evidence of her 24 years ordeal in the underground cellar, he realised that his defence was of no use.

Thus, he altered his plea to dodge being sent to the mental unit and instead live in a cushy prison.

In fact, he has even chosen the jail he prefers because it offers inmates meditation, tennis, football, darts, singing lessons and cookery classes.

“People jailed for anything involving abusing children always get a hard time from the other inmates,” the Daily Star quoted a warder at the prison where Fritzl has been held on remand as saying.

The warder added: “They used to bang on his cell and shout: ‘Satan – come out and play.’ Now they bang on his cell and shout that the cannibal is going to eat him.”

Fritzl’s lawyer Rudolf Mayer swung the secret deal to give Fritzl his pick of prisons if he pleaded guilty.

Mayer and prosecution officials agreed that Fritzl would serve his time in a single cell.

Lawyers announced his dramatic U-turn on day three of his trial in the Austrian town of St Poelten.

He had previously pleaded guilty to incest and the false imprisonment of Elisabeth, but has now made a full confession to offences, including the murder of one of the children he fathered on Elisabeth. (ANI)
