‘Monty Python’ pals John Cleese and Michael Palin may work together again

London, September 20 (ANI): Former ‘Monty Python’ stars John Cleese, 69, and Michael Palin, 66, may soon be working together again.

They are said to have been discussing reuniting for the first time in more than a decade.

The pair met last month while Cleese, who lives in California, was in London after his 12million-pound divorce from third wife Alyce Faye Eichelberger.

Palin revealed on Michael Ball’s Radio 2 show that they were chatting about old times then Cleese, 69, said: “Wouldn’t it be good to act again?”

The Daily Express quoted Palin as saying: “I saw John the other night and we were saying it would be nice to do some acting again, so you never know.”

Palin’s agent, however, said that there were no definite plans yet for the pair to work together.

The pair starred together in the hit movie ‘A Fish Called Wanda’ in 1988, and its sequel ‘Fierce Creatures’ in 1997. (ANI)

Hilary Swank says there was no ‘spark’ when she first met beau John Campisi

Washington, Sep 8 (ANI): Hilary Swank has said that there was no initial “spark” between her and new beau John Campisi because both of them were nursing a broken heart at the time, and their romance was completely “unexpected”.

Hilary was in the process of divorcing Chad Lowe when she started working with John in May 2006.

“There was no spark. What’s interesting is, there was never anything. It wasn’t until we were well into the dissipation of our respective relationships. Going through something so difficult at the same time, we became very good friends. We became closer and closer,” Contactmusic quoted Swank as telling Britain’s Hello! Magazine.

“It was so unexpected. We both recognised that if we were going to take the relationship to the next step, we could no longer work together,” she added.

While the 35-year-old star has no intention of marrying John, 41, in the near future, she hopes to start a family with him one day.

She even enjoys spending time with his son Sam, from a previous relationship.

“Sam’s a sweetheart. I most definitely want children. It’s something I’d like to do someday. And when the timing is right I’ll hopefully know it,” she said. (ANI)

US reality TV stars expecting their 19th child!

London, Sep 2 (ANI): The couple from reality TV show ’18 Kids and Counting’ have announced that they are expecting their 19th child.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, from Tonitown, Arkansas, say that they are ‘thrilled’ to be expecting a new addition next spring, despite already having ten sons and eight daughters aged from eight months to 21.

“We are so thrilled. We just couldn’t believe it is happening,” the Telegraph quoted Michelle Duggar, 42, as having told People magazine.

Jim Bob, 44, added: “This never gets old. We are so grateful for each child. We are looking forward to our first grand baby and our 19th child.”

The couple’s eldest son Joshua, 21, and his wife Anna are also expecting a child next month.

The Duggars have confirmed that the new baby will be given a name beginning with the letter ‘J’, just like all the couple’s other children.

The existing Duggar children are called: Josh, 21, twins Jana and John-David, 19; Jill, 18; Jessa, 16; Jinger, 15; Joseph, 14; Josiah, 13; Joy-Anna, 11; twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah, 10; Jason, 9; James, 8; Justin, 6; Jackson, 5; Johanna, 3; Jennifer, 2, and Jordyn-Grace, 8 months.

If the Duggars continue to breed at the same rate the next generation will have 400 members, the third generation will have 8,000, the fourth 160,000, and the fifth 3.2 million.

This would mean that one in ever hundred people in America would be a Duggar, there would be more Duggars than Latvians, and there would be more Duggars than residents of America’s 21 least populous states. (ANI)

Terry signs new five year contract with Chelsea

London, Sep.1 (ANI): Chelsea and England captain John Terry has signed a new five-year contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2014.

The contract is worth 150,000-pounds-a-week, making him the best-paid player at the club and elevating him into the elite earners in world football, reports The Telegraph.

The England captain will earn close to 39 million pounds over the course of the contract and will in all likelihood see the England defender see out his career at the club he joined as a 14-year-old.

A club statement read: “Chelsea are delighted to confirm that John Terry has signed a new five-year contract that keeps him at the club until the end of the 2013-14 season.

This reaffirms both John’s and Chelsea’s long-stated desire for him to be at Stamford Bridge for the rest of his playing career.”

Terry’s salary will be the highest yet paid to an English footballer and will make him the second-best paid player in the Premier League behind Robinho, of Manchester City.

Terry has made 276 appearances in 12 seasons at Stamford Bridge and has won 54 England caps since 2003. (ANI)

Aniston still wears John Mayer’s gifted watch

Washington, Aug 31(ANI): Actress Jennifer Aniston still wears the gold Rolex watch gifted to her by ex-boyfriend John Mayer.

The former ‘Friends’ star has been seen with the luxury watch amid rumours she and Mayer have rekindled their romance “John gave Jennifer the Rolex when they were at the height of their romance in May 2008. Jennifer hardly took the watch off, but when they split she stopped wearing it. In recent weeks she’s started wearing it again to show John he’s still in her thoughts,” Contactmusic quoted a source as saying.

Aniston, 40, and Mayor, 31, had been together for around four months last year. They paired together again earlier this year only to call it off in April.

However, it is believed Aniston has started flirting with the musician again.

The source added: “She’s even been sending him flirty texts and emails…. Jennifer’s plan is obviously working – John is a keen Rolex collector and Jennifer knows how symbolic the gesture is to him. He’s been replying to her with racy pictures and emails.

“It’s only a matter of time before they officially announce they’re back together.” (ANI)

Susan Boyle story set to woo Japan

London, August 30 (ANI): The story of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ star Susan Boyle is set to end up in a TV show with a Japanese crew eager to record her fairytale rise to stardom.

The Scottish songbird, who turned into an overnight celebrity with her jaw dropping rendition of her audition song ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, will have her story filmed for a special documentary.

Japanese TV bosses will jet into the singing sensation’s hometown of Blackburn, West Lothian, reports the Mirror.

Filmmakers will also interview fans at the Happy Valley Pub where the 48-year-old star used to sing karaoke.

Her brothers Gerry, 55, and John, 52 may also for a part of the show set to be screened on primetime TV in mid-October.

Macca breaks silence over friendship with Lennon

London, Aug 24 (ANI): Sir Paul McCartney has broken the silence over his friendship with his ‘The Beatles’ co-member John Lennon, and denied that they shared a sour relationship.

Macca seems considerate about his dead friend’s drug use, and believes that the complaints his pal made in interviews that he sabotaged songs in the studio could be excused, as he always expressed his love in the end.

“Oh, he was on drugs, wasn’t he? This is the trouble with history, with journalism. Whatever bad things John said about me, he would also slip his glasses down to the end of his nose and say, ‘I love you’,” Sky News quoted him as telling the Radio Times.

He added: “That’s really what I hold on to. That’s what I believe. The rest is showing off. John said so much crap that he later said he hadn’t meant. It’s bulls***. We were there. We all enjoyed it.

I never really criticised John. I’m not that critical. It’s a question of personalities. John’s was more abrasive than mine and that was good for his corner of the square that made up the Beatles. If we’d had two people like that – forget it – I don’t think it would have worked.”

McCartney further revealed that Lennon wasn’t the kind of man people thought he was.

He explained: “The image of John is seriously flawed because he was not the hard, mad man that people think he was. He was a very soft-centred guy and we had a lot more in common than people think. His favourite song when we were kids was Little White Lies, which was very sentimental. It was a smoochy old standard that his mum liked. That’s really what I hold on to. That’s what I believe. The rest is showing off.”

And, finally, he disclosed how the pair came together to form of the best-known and most successful writing partnerships in history.

He said: “The actual reason John and I started writing in earnest was because we’d be at a gig and the bands on before us would play songs we were about to do.”

The Beatles had split up in 1970. (ANI)

Lingerie model reveals she was once a man

London, July 12 (ANI): With her striking looks, statuesque size ten figure and 34DD boobs, lingerie model Lisa Du Preez is certainly a woman to die for, but even after weeks of dating her, her boyfriend didn’t come to know that she was once a man.

Brunette Lisa, 35, has now come out in open to admit that ten years ago she was a bloke called Louis.

And her surgical sex-swap transformation has shown such good results that her electrician fiance didn’t know the truth until she rang him and confessed.

“I let people think I was a natural-born woman for a long while and had a great time seeing how many men I could pull and get away with it,” News of the World quoted Lisa as saying.

She added: “But now I’m ready to let the world know who I really am. I want people to know that transvestites and transsexuals aren’t all ugly freaks.”

Lisa has an online lingerie shop liselou.com and her glam pictures have been used on dating websites, nightclub posters and adverts for contact lenses.

“But actually becoming a woman was hell. On a scale of one to ten, the pain was a ten. I had to go on morphine to cope,” she admitted.

“Obviously I can’t have kids, but when people say I don’t know what childbirth feels like, I say I DO! It was agony. But now I look like this I have absolutely no regrets,” she said.

Lisa went for the sex-change operation only after meeting a transvestite.

And in 1999, after living as a woman full-time for two years, Lisa – from Enfield, Middlesex – had the surgery that finally allowed her to make love as a woman.

“It was amazing. I did have orgasms as a man but they’re better as a woman,” she said.

“When I met my fiance John Ward in a pub a year ago we hit it off right away but I didn’t tell him about the surgery.

“We dated for a few weeks, kissing and cuddling, and then it got to the stage where I knew I had to tell him.

“I took the easy way out and phoned him,” she added.

John admitted: “I didn’t know what to say at first, But I accept Lisa as she is, we’re in love and going to get married.” (ANI)

Terry demands showdown talks with Chelsea owner Abramovich

London, July 8 (ANI): England and Chelsea captain John Terry is demanding showdown talks with club owner Roman Abramovich over his future.

According to The Sun, Terry is furious nobody at the club has spoken to him since Manchester City tabled a 30-million-pound bid last week.

Terry, 28, feels insulted by the Stamford Bridge silence.

“It’s unbelievable – even though he’s the club captain and one of the Blues’ most important players, senior management at the club haven’t once tried to talk to him. John wants to know what’s going on and, more importantly, whether Chelsea actually want to keep him or cash in while they have a chance,” an insider said.

Terry takes home 20,000-pounds-a-week less than his England teammate Frank Lampard (151,000-pounds-a-week).

Big-spending City are prepared to give the Three Lions skipper the wages he believes he deserves and are desperate to make him the bedrock of their new-look side.

Terry has played 272 games for Chelsea and scored 17 goals in 11 senior years at the club. (ANI)

MI6 chief’s beach pics on Facebook ‘no state secret’, says UK Foreign Secretary

London, July 6 (ANI): Reacting on the headlines grabbed by new MI6 head Sir John Sawers’ photographs, which appeared on Facebook, UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband has said that it is “not a state secret” that the spy chief wears Speedos.

John’s wife Shelley Sawers had posted beach photos of her husband on facebook site the day after he was appointment head of MI6.

Information on her profile revealed the couple’s friendships with actors Moir Leslie and Alister Cameron.

According to The Mail, Shelley had disclosed details on Facebook, including the location of the London flat used by the couple and the whereabouts of their three children and of Sir John’s parents.

Senior politicians said that the security lapse raised concerns about John’s ability to take up his post as chief of the Secret Intelligence Service this November, giving him responsibility for Britain’s overseas spying operations.

However, while talking on BBC1′s Andrew Marr Show, Miliband dismissed allegations of recklessness and asked people to “grow up”.

He said that John was an “outstanding professional”, and denied that the details on the social networking website, which have since been removed, would compromise his career.

“What are you leading the news with that… The fact that there’s a picture that the head of the MI6 goes swimming. Wow that really is exciting,” the Telegraph quoted Miliband as saying.

“It is not a state secret that he wears Speedo swimming trunks, for goodness sake let’s grow up.

“This allegation that there’s great secrets and then you find out it’s about his swimming trunks and the fact that his family’s getting dragged into it.

“He was appointed 10 days ago to be the head of MI6; he’s an outstanding professional who will do a really good job in an outstanding organisation that does a huge amount for this country.

“The newspapers have gone on to Facebook and got pictures of him in his swimming trunks – the fact that you’re leading on it when we’ve got Iran, Afghanistan and the other issues,’ he added.

Sir John Major, the former Conservative Prime Minister, said that the issue had been “overblown”. (ANI)

Michael Jackson lived like king but died awash in debt

Jackson lived like king but died awash in debtLOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson the singer was also Michael Jackson the billion-dollar business.

Yet after selling more than 61 million albums in the U.S. and having a decade-long attraction open at Disney theme parks, the “King of Pop” died Thursday at age 50 reportedly awash in about $400 million in debt, on the cusp of a final comeback after well over a decade of scandal.

The moonwalking pop star drove the growth of music videos, vaulting cable channel MTV into the popular mainstream after its launch in 1981. His 1982 hit “Thriller,” still the second best-selling U.S. album of all time, spawned a John Landis-directed music video that MTV played every hour on the hour.

“The ratings were three or four times what they were normally every time the video came on,” said Judy McGrath, the chairman and CEO of Viacom Inc.’s MTV Networks. “He was inextricably tied to the so-called MTV generation.”

Five years later, “Bad” sold 22 million copies. In 1991, he signed a $65 million recording deal with Sony.

Jackson was so popular that The Walt Disney Co. hitched its wagon to his star in 1986, opening a 3-D movie at its parks called “Captain EO,” executive produced by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The last attraction in Paris closed 12 years later.

One of Jackson’s shrewdest deals at the height of his fame in 1985 was the $47.5 million acquisition of ATV Music, which owned the copyright to songs written by the Beatles’ John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The catalog provided Jackson a steady stream of income and the ability to afford a lavish lifestyle.

He bought the sprawling Neverland ranch in 1988 for $14.6 million, a fantasy-like 2,500-acre property nestled in the hills of Santa Barbara County’s wine country.

But the bombshell hit in 1993 when he was accused of molesting a 13-year-old boy.

“That kind of represents the beginning of the walk down a tragic path, financially, emotionally, spiritually, psychologically, legally,” said Michael Levine, his publicist at the time.

He settled with the boy’s family, but other accounts of his alleged pedophilia began to emerge.

When he ran into further financial problems, he agreed to a deal with Sony in 1995 to merge ATV with Sony’s library of songs and sold Sony music publishing rights for $95 million. Then in 2001, he used his half of the ATV assets as collateral to secure $200 million in loans from Bank of America.

As his financial problems continued, Jackson began to borrow large sums of money, according to a 2002 lawsuit by Union Finance & Investment Corp. that sought $12 million in unpaid fees and expenses.

In 2003, Jackson was arrested on charges that he molested another 13-year-old boy. The 2005 trial, which ultimately ended in an acquittal, brought to light more details of Jackson’s strained finances.

One forensic accountant testified that the singer had an “ongoing cash crisis” and was spending $20 million to $30 million more per year than he earned.

In March of last year, the singer faced foreclosure on Neverland. He also repeatedly failed to make mortgage payments on a house in Los Angeles that had been used for years by his family.

In addition, Jackson was forced to defend himself against a slew of lawsuits in recent years, including a $7 million claim from Sheik Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the second son of the king of Bahrain.

Memorabilia auctions were frequently announced but became the subject of legal wrangling and were often canceled.

Time and again, however, Jackson found a way to wring cash out of high-value assets, borrowing tens of millions at a time or leaning on wealthy friends for advice, if not for money.

Al Khalifa, 33, took Jackson under his wing after his acquittal, moving him to the small Gulf estate and showering him with money.

In his lawsuit, Al Khalifa claimed he gave Jackson millions of dollars to help shore up his finances, cut an album, write an autobiography and subsidize his lifestyle — including more than $300,000 for a “motivational guru.” The lawsuit was settled last year for an undisclosed amount. Neither the album nor book was ever produced.

Another wealthy benefactor came to Jackson’s aid last year as he faced the prospect of losing Neverland in a public auction.

Billionaire Thomas Barrack, chairman and CEO of Los Angeles-based real estate investment firm Colony Capital LLC, agreed to bail out the singer and set up a joint venture with Jackson that took ownership of the vast estate.

Barrack was unavailable for comment Thursday, but referred to the singer in a statement as a “gentle, talented and compassionate man.”

A final piece of the financial jigsaw puzzle fell into place in March, when billionaire Philip Anschutz’ concert promotion company AEG Live announced it would promote 50 shows in London’s O2 arena. Tickets sold out, and the first show of the “This is It” tour was set for July 8.

Jackson, who has won 13 Grammys, hadn’t toured since 1997. His last studio album, “Invincible,” was released in 2001.

But the opening date was later postponed to July 13 and some shows moved back to March 2010, fueling speculation that Jackson was suffering from health ailments that could curtail his comeback bid.

His death, caused by cardiac arrest according to his brother Jermaine, raised the question whether an insurer would refund money to ticketholders. AEG Live did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Jackson was practicing for the concert in Los Angeles at the Staples Center with Kenny Ortega, a choreographer and director of the “High School Musical” movies, who has worked on previous Jackson videos like “Dangerous” in 1993.

“We had a 25-year friendship. This is all too much to comprehend,” Ortega said in a statement. “This was the world’s greatest performer and the world will miss him.”

Travoltas pay tribute to late son Jett in South Africa

London, June 25 (ANI): John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston have paid tribute to their late son Jett in South Africa.

The grieving couple honoured the 16-year-old in his favourite vacation hot spot the Eagles Crag Lodge on the Shamwari Game Reserve.

According to TMZ.com, the pair reportedly rented the place in memory of the youngster, who loved their frequent safari trips, reports The Daily Express.

The heartbroken parents are trying to cope up with the loss of Jet, six months after he died from a seizure during a family holiday in the Bahamas.

John remained at bay from media promotion for his new movie The Taking Of Pelham 1 2 3 and thanked his team for their “unselfish efforts” in handling the promotional duties without him. (ANI)

She also referred to her sun-sign to explain her nature.

“I am Cancer. I want to stay at home, cooking, relaxing. You have to follow the heart.

Gisele Bundchen pregnant?

Washington, June 20(ANI): Supermodel Gisele Bundchen is expecting a child early next year, according to sources.

Speculation of her pregnancy began after pictures of the stunner in Brazil with a perceptible bump got published recently.

“Gisele will be an excellent mother, she’s always wanted kids,” a source told PEOPLE magazine.

However, there has been no confirmation from Bundchen.

In fact the beauty married New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady twice this spring, first in Los Angeles followed by another ceremony for friends at Bündchen’s Costa Rica home.

“Family is everything,” Bündchen, who turns 29 next month, told PEOPLE last month.

“I think family is the base to everything. I think that is one of the things I’m most grateful for. I have a lot to be grateful for but I think that’s definitely number one,” she added.

A Jill or a John more likely to get a job than a Khan or a Li in Canada

Washington, May 21 (ANI): Job applicants having English names-such as Jill Wilson or John Martin-have a greater chance of being called for interviews than those having Indian, Pakistani or Chinese names, according to a study.

Lead author Philip Oreopoulos, of the University of British Columbia, said that Canadians and immigrants with non-English names suffered discrimination at the hands of employers, who favoured English names up to 40 percent more than those having similar resumes with names like Sana Khan or Lei Li.

The UBC Economics Professor said that the findings lent a helping hand in understanding why skilled immigrants, with university degrees and important work experience, tasted little success in the labour market.

Oreopoulos said: “The findings suggest that a distinct foreign-sounding name may be a significant disadvantage on the job market – even if you are a second- or third-generation citizen.”

He added: “If employers are engaging in name-based discrimination, they may be contravening the Human Rights Act. They may also be missing out on hiring the best person for the job.”

Oreopoulos further revealed that Canadian work experience was preferred to Canadian education.

He said: “This suggests policies that prioritize Canadian experience or help new immigrants find initial domestic work experience might significantly increase their employment chances.”

Oreopoulos is affiliated with National Bureau of Economic Research and the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. (ANI)

Breastfeeding mum told ‘no food or drink by the poolside’!

London, May 19 (ANI): A mother was told to stop breastfeeding her baby boy by a swimming pool in Nottingham as it breached a leisure centre’s strict poolside ban on food and drink.

Laura Whotton was left fuming when a member of staff said she could not feed 11-week-old Joshua by the pool at John Carroll Leisure Centre.

The 26-year-old, from the Carrington area of the city, said that she was trying to feed the boy while also keeping an eye on her four-year-old son, Thomas, who was swimming.

Whotton told the Nottingham Evening Post: “People in bikinis were showing more skin and breast than I was.”

She added: “When it happened, it made me feel angry. It could put people off going swimming.”

Nottingham City Council insisted there had been “a misunderstanding” and apologised to Whotton.

It has redrafted the regulations to make clear that breastfeeding is allowed and new guidelines have been issued to staff.

“Nottingham City Council actively encourages and supports nursing mothers to breastfeed in all our centres and was one of the first local authorities to provide guidance in support of a mother’s right to breastfeed,” the Telegraph quoted a spokeswoman for the council as saying.

“We have clarified the policy at our leisure centres to make it absolutely clear that someone breastfeeding should not be treated the same as someone who is eating and drinking in the swimming pool areas,” she added. (ANI)
